‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the villa,
not a creature was stirring, not even Godzilla (couldn’t think of another rhyme)
When, what to my wondering eyes should I hear, (I take liberties)
but a song and three Boys, not tiny, but Dear! (lots of liberties)
I saw Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio too,
up to my rooftop, to my living room they flew!
They were dressed all in Alfani, from their head to their foot,
but their clothes were all tarnished, with ashes and soot.
A bundle of love they had in their pack,
and they looked just like heaven, when I calmly stared back!
His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! (that really is a line!)
Piero’s glasses were there, the color of cherry! (that one’s not)
Gian said not a word but went straight to his work
and filled all my dreams with songs and a perk!
He’d left me Ignazio all covered with bows
and giving a nod up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his Fiat, to Piero gave a whistle,
and away they both flew, like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim as they drove out of site,
“Happy Christmas to all, I hope Marie doesn’t bite!”

~you know who
Marie: You just keep raising your own bar! You had me laughing all the way through, and wondering if the boys ever read this, will they ever let you forget? Thank you for starting my Sunday with tears and laughter – again!
Marie you are priceless! I totally love it. Thank you for this gift!
Thanks, Lijoy and Linda P. We’ve been too serious lately!
Isn’t it odd that I always end up with Ignazio? Fate I guess.
Well Marie, I only have two questions, how did you CALMY stare back? and DID YOU BITE?
1) I needed another word for that line and “stark raving mad” didn’t fit.
2) Yes!
What a start to another day of snow falling. It is priceless. Laughed and smiled my whole way through it. Thank you!
Marie, you have outdone yourself!! This is just great! I’m still smiling!I I hope someone in their entourage sees this. It’s a gem!
Oh Jane, I sorta hope not. If Ignazio ever puts a face to my writing, he’ll run screaming when he sees me. I can catch him though!
I can not wait to meet you in person some day…YOU are a GEM. Ignazio is just your type 🙂 Fun loving…kind hearted!! Too bad he wasn’t born just a tad bit earlier in life, huh??
Marie, no one can make me laugh like you do early in the morning. This should make everyone smile today. I hope you intend to share, you know who with, your friend!! 🙂
Nope.
Priceless & entertaining Marie. Glad to see your sense of humour returning. We needed that laughter, If you bite him your’ll be sorry.
So selfish!
Oh no I won’t!
Marie, Thank you so much! That was just what we needed to start the week. I am still laughing. And I hope the boys read it! It has to fit very well with Nazio’s sense of humor… and why bite him? I would think you’d rather kiss those dimples…
I wasn’t going to bite hard!
*dead*
😀😀😀😄😄😄 Marie, you kill me!😄😄😄
Nice picture!!!
Bravo Marie bravo. What a day brightened. Will you share ignazio with the less fortunate.?
Teresa don’t hold your breath. If she damages him in any way, I’ll chae her to the ends of the earth
Yes Marie purblish as I said before some or all of your poems, look at the money you’ll make. Try a few at first & see how it goes. How many have you done now has it reached 100 yet? Publish just a few for now & see how it goes. Just a suggestion
Marie – Our poet laureate – as I place laurel around your neck. Have you published anything lately?
Marie, thank you so much. I don’t publish. This is just for us who understand.
Oh Marie, you have outdone yourself! That was just perfect! I laughed and smiled all the way thru it. I hope Our Boys do see it!
Marie, I think you should publish your book of poems about our Boys and Gianluca can publish his book about life! That would be so wonderful. I really mean it. Pretty please!
Marie this is another ending that Gianluca could have said. Hope Ignazio doesn’t bite. but then you could have said Oh yes please do. Or Gianluca could have said Merry Christmas to all wow this is out of sight.
Marie,
I am still laughing! His eyes always twinkle (or at least most of the time!) Leave some for the rest of us!
I only wanted one!
Love it Marie you have a great way with words and you say everything everyone else is thinking. One thing, please share Ignazio with me and of course Loretta. I have been following them since the beginning!
Nope
Aw, that’s COLD, Marie! Don’t be selfish, now! Great poem, it made me laugh, and I thank you! I have such a good time coming here, we have such fun. Love to you all!
Thank you Nanawolf for thinking of me. Do you think we can gang up on Marie & grab him when she is not looking??
I tried to get Domenica In on the RAI station I have in Canada but it wasn’t listed at about 4 oclock today, bummer
This an aside I should have mentioned before.
I have never danced around with Christmas carols like I do with Buon Natlae CD. Feliz Navada & the other upbeat songs are really keepinig me at the age of 19, if you notice it is the same as Ignazio
Its too bad Today show didn’t interview the buys a little more, I wanted to get more of a real LOOK at Ignazio & how stunning he looked (SIGH) you notice that’s a big sigh
Marie, Marie, Marie – BRILLIANT!!
Thanks Leelee!
Linda, Nanawolf and Ruth, I’m so sorry! Both times I meant to say “sure” but it came out “nope”! Darn computer!
I LOVE you, Marie. You’re a trip! (That’s a compliment!) Happy Holidays to you and ALL of my fellow Il Volovers!
Ruth, I’ll bet you’re from my era.
You’re a trip! is one of my complimentary sayings, too.
Always enjoy your posts, Ruth.
Christmas joy,
~ Jeanine D.
Wow!!! Love it, Marie!
You know they DO read this, don’t you?! (; >)
I haven’t been responding to email since the 14th (inundated and a little health stuff, too), so I’m starting to catch up tonight. I may have to end my day with this. I’ll fall asleep smiling!
How about an e-book, Marie! Oooo… 12 poems for the 12 days of Christmas?
Remember, there are many many thousands of readers who understand Our Boys and your poems, Marie! It’s not like you wouldn’t have an audience.
… Just sayin’!
Love and happiness,
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
