  1. I saw these pictures over on IL VOLO Mundial on Facebook and I have been thrilled and excited all day about it. What a huge thrill this must have been. I saw Piero’s tweet with the picture of St Peters last night and wistfully wondered if he would try to see the pope. I forgot what Gianluca tweeted last night but it gave me a glimmer of something up with the guys in Rome. But this! This is something amazing.. I look at that picture of Papa Francisco with his hand on Piero and Piero covering the Pope’s hand with his own and I was brought to tears. Look at his face! Look at Gianluca’s! They are such happy young men at this moment in time. I wish we could have seen a bit more of Ignazio but I I’m happy just to know he was there with Piero and Gianluca sharing a wonderful day together. IL VOLO gives me great happiness and this just filled my little catholic heart with sheer joy for them. I hope at some time in the future they get to sing in St Peters. Bliss.

  2. What a wonderful day for the boys. God has blessed them with this beautiful vocal gift and now to meet the Pope in person and be able to get to talk to him. A day they will never forget.

  3. I saw these on his twitter page yesterday and couldn’t believe it! What a blessing to have such an incredible experience!

  4. I have to say this first: it looked like our Piero was on that train all by himself…what a waste! Second, just look at our Gianluca’s face, bless his heart! I wonder if he was going to “cry like a baby”, and I wonder if he could even speak. He looks positively dumbstruck, doesn’t he? His 19th birthday and meeting the Pope in the same week, wow! Third, I hope His Holiness went back to his room and blasted that CD! 😀

    1. Ohh Ruth! I LOVE that image of Pope Francis blasting the IL VOLO CD back in his room. They are exactly in the age group he wants to reach these days.

  5. I don’t often comment, but I have to this time. first, Piratesorta, I too was very touched by Francisco’s hand on Piero’s and Piero’s hand over His. I also look at Papa Francisco holding Gianluca’s hand, and the look of extacy on Gianluca’s face in most photos. he is like a little boy absolutely overcome by what he is seeing. I also wondered where was Ignazio, but I saw him and in two photos, his hand comes over in between Piero and Gianluca and the Pope is holding it. I think Piero and Gianluca were so excited that they forgot to make room for him and he didn’t want to spoil their moments. I printed out all the photos, and my caption for them is “Jesus meets the three Angels He sent to show us how much He loves us”.
My emotions have not died down yet I am just in awe every time I look at these pictures. this was one of my dreams for them and I just can’t believe it came true.
They can do so much for young people. they have tremendous power in their young hands to change the world for the better. I pray that they will remain strong and not let Hollywood habits take them over.
I have a feeling Gianluca’s father planned this for Gianluca’s birthday. I think it was the best present Gianluca ever got. what wonderful families they have. they are truly blessed

    1. Oh! Deanne. you saw the very thing I did!! I was sick when I didn’t see Ignazio in the photo with the boys. It’s amazing how my feelings are so very much like yours! Thanks for noticing that he was there!!°)

  6. Yes, Deanne, Our Guys are SOOOOOO special! They have been raised very well, with very high values. They are a refreshing change from most of what else is out there. Gianluca said that he “feels different” from a lot of his friends now, because of everything that he and Piero and Ignazio have been through in such a short period of time. They are mature in some ways beyond their years, but at the same time, they have moments when they very much “act their real ages” (lots of You Tube videos are proof of this…I love them!) They are “old souls in young bodies” and they have enriched our lives so much. I thank God for that night last August when I was channel-surfing and just happened to hit on PBS and “Live At The Detroit Opera House.” I had never heard of them before that night. I was feeling very sad because my oldest daughter and her husband had just had a stillborn baby boy in July. If anybody needed a lift, it was me…and I found it in these special young men who sing so beautifully. I was immediately smitten. It’s as if the passion and feeling that they sing with helps me deal with my grief in a way I can’t explain. All I know is, it works…and I am forever grateful!
