Some musings about IL VOLO with that special Jeanine twist 😊…

Why do I, who speak English, love when IL VOLO sings in Italian even more than when they sing in English?

jeanine 1

Of course…

~ their language is so very beautiful

~ there is a kind of mystique to Italian, truly a language of Amore, Grande Amore

And yet there’s more. The deepest purest reason for me…

~ When IL VOLO sings in Italian, while I now recognize some of the words, the definition of the song’s lyrics does not limit my experience.

IL VOLO’s Love, Joy, Awe, FLIGHT of Soaring Vibration is completely felt in my being. I am utterly transported.

Their grande amore and soaring spirits far exceeds the beautiful meaning of the song’s words. So when I hear them sing in Italian, I experience IL VOLO Love, beyond even the magnificent words they sing. They take me to a place where their hearts live, a place more sweet than any song ever written!

Just had to express that! It was bubbling up in my heart and needed a place to land! 😊

Love and sweet week to you all,

Jeanine

  1. I have no connection with Italy like family so I do not know why I always loved Italian music. Now it is even more special when the boys sing.

  2. Jeanine, this is just beautiful! You have an amazing way with words. Your joy and peace is felt in everything you write just as Il Volo’s love and spirit is felt in everything they sing. I don’t understand Italian either, but when they sing to us in Italian, it can capture and transfix us in such a way… sometimes it’s almost mystical. Hope you are having a wonderful week!!

    1. Awww, Jane, I am honored at what you say, especially with Your beautiful heart and words!

Yes… transfixed, mystical, magical … they’re certainly playing in some other realm, and I Love traveling to that realm with them!

      Grazie, Gianluca, Piero, and Ignazio!

  3. I love everything they sing. Italian, Spanish are my favorites. My native tongue (Tagalog) from the Philippine Islands, is so very similar to Spanish since the islands were ruled by the spaniards for so long. Even when we are not able to understand the words our boys sings, we know that they sing it from their hearts , thus, having this feeling in myheart that they are singing just for me. That’s just me guys.

    1. Love that Prese… “this feeling in myheart that they are singing just for me”

The real magic is that they make us ALL feel that way! 😉

And thanks for the language lesson. Very interesting.

      Sweet!
      Jeanine

      1. Love your thoughts! I totally agree with everything you said! They are truly magical!

      2. Thanks, Kathy!
        Magical is It!
& am so excited that I’ll be experiencing a
Notte Magica in just 3 days!

        Absolutely transformative! 😊

  4. Jeanine, you said it so beautifully, I have nothing to add! THANKS FOR SHARING! ♡♡♡

  5. Jeanine, beautiful! I have always loved music!!! Il Volo music (Italian, Spanish , or English) fills my heart with joy & beauty!!! My life has been much enriched by Gianluca, Ignazio, & Piero!!! Grande Amore!!!

  6. I think you are on to something Jeanine! When we don’t understand the words we just concentrate on the music and let it fill our souls and carry us away. I have actually been shocked a few times when I found out what the words meant–so different from what I was imagining from the melody alone. I love the Italian songs and much prefer the Italian disc of L’Amore Si Muove more than the English version Grande Amore. There is something special in the Italian songs…

    1. Thanks, Penina!
Io Che Non Vivo Senza Te is a great example of that for me. I could hit my head on the ceiling from soaring so high, and You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me brings me closer to earth when I comprehend the English words, but like Joan Guyon just said, any language will do! 😊 Right on, Joan!

  7. I also prefer the Italian. I’m half Italian, but don’t understand a word of it. Well, Grazie, Prego, etc. But listening to these wonderful young men singing in their native language is pure joy.

  8. I have to say Amen to everything said above. Jeanine, I even enjoy watching their interviews in Italian. I don’t need to understand a word they say. Just love watching their reactions.

  9. Hi Jeanine, I love your musings! ” Flight of soaring vibrations” I could’nt have said it better. It’s a feeling I have while they are singing, but could not have expressed it as well as you.
I loved meeting you at the Fan Faire, and you are indeed a sweetheart.

    1. Thanks, Jill! It was great to meet so many lovely Flight Crew friends Sharing the Love. And such a treat to share here, too!

      Sweet night,
      Jeanine

  10. You really have expressed so nicely the feelings and emotions that we experience when listening to Il Volo. I do like seeing the translations of the songs, especially the older Italian songs which are so beautiful. But even without knowing the words, their music touches something deep inside our souls!

    1. I know what you mean, Margaret. And when I read the lyrics for the Spanish song Hasta el Final (years ago!) I fell in love with it Because of the lyrics, as well as the guys’ voices and hearts.

Thanks to http://lyricstranslate.com/en/hasta-el-final-until-end.html for a few of the translated lyrics here:
“Now that you’re by my side
My soul is filled with sun
Everything around me seems to shine”

I often look up the translations, then leave them behind if the guys’ musical interpretation lifts me so high that it leaves the beautiful lyrics in the dust. And they choose gorgeous songs!

Life will never be the same after IL VOLO!
      ~ Jeanine

  11. Well said, it does the same to me, not just a song, a conveyance of emotion. This is a rare thing and very wonderful.

    1. Truly, Sue! Remember how often the guys say they want to share their emotion with the world? Well, they’re doing it!

And Gina, Anne Q, Barbara D, Allene, I echo your thoughts. Though no Italian blood in my body, it certainly is in my heart and my emotions! 😊

And as I think about not being “limited” by the already-beautiful lyrics of their songs, it reminds me of that incredible performance in Orlando, the guys interacting with the twins…. Ignazio concluded so beautifully with …

“She’s the proof that music has no limit.”

Isn’t that the truth, most especially with IL VOLO! So grateful to frenchy for capturing this amazing moment and to Ignazio for his depth of insight that shows up between his silly-joy!

Love and gratitude to all you sweet friends out there!
      Jeanine

      1. Oops! Just looked up the liner notes on YouTube. Apparently it was in Tampa (Orlando, too?). I love these notes from Frenchy:
“Tampa FL, Il Volo with Pandolfo twins. My sister is hard of hearing. so i was translating for her so i stood up and they were like “are you paying attention?” then told me to come here. then they started talking to me then asked her to come here then they sang to us it was a dream i will never forget this”

One of my favorite videos, for sure! If you’re out there, Pandolfo twins, we will never forget it either!

      3. That’s one of my favorite videos too, Jeanine! In fact that was the video I had in my little piece The Charisma Kids but Marie–for some unknown reason–changed it!

      4. s’okay–I didn’t complain then, I’m not complaining now–just stating the facts, ma’m, nothing but the facts!

  12. It still makes me chuckle when I find out my Il Volo habits are so similar to some of the other Crew. I also love the Italian songs best, although I only understand about three words per song. My usual way is to look up the translated lyrics, (also wonderful) get the gest of the “story” only once. Then just listen and enjoy those beautiful and lyrical Italian words. Our Boys record enough English songs to satisfy my down home needs.

Thank you Jeanine for sharing such beautiful thoughts. You do have a way with words!

    1. Thank you, Marie, for passing along my midnight musings. It feels so fun to share! And the photo carries the Lao Tzu quote which speaks to what you said, Margaret: “their music touches something deep inside our souls!”

I like your IL VOLO habits, Marie, though I’m bettin’ you know more than 3 words per song!

      Ragazzi
      io ti amo
      questo notte magica
      grande amore…

      😊
Abbracci, (OK, that one was bing! 😉
      Jeanine

  13. I can picture Ignazio singing the song Until the End to Alessandra the words fit to a T. The very song to sing to your chosen lady. I think he is a romantic at heart

    1. Perfetto, Loretta!

I’m sure I’m not the only one here who puts together Loretta’s insight and IL VOLO’s song “The Best Day of My Life”! Now THAT ONE I’m glad is in English!

Along with No Hacer Falta and Recurrdame (yes, Rose Marie!), I replay Best Day over and over!

      😊 💟
      Jeanine

  14. Ah, Italian and Spanish the languages of romance and love! I also prefer those songs over the English. I have English translations of all of their non-English songs so I can understand what they are singing about. They do the Spanish so beautifully that they bring me to tears sometimes. Especially No Hacer Falta and Recurrdame which I put on repeat over and over. The harmonization is spectacular! Love those boys, their is no equal to Il Volo anywhere❤️

  15. Hi – yes, I, too seem to love the Italian more than the English! Must be the accents and melodious pronunciations? I’m sure it has nothing to do with their cute little faces and awesome voices!? For those of you that don’t think you are Italian, do the DNA testing from Ancestry.com. I did it and although it says I’m 100% Western European (mostly Dutch/German and some Irish), it also says I could be 3% Italian/Greek! Yippee!!! 🙂

      1. Jill, I did it through Ancestry.com and paid $99. This was last year though.

  16. Jeanine, so lovely to see your beautiful words in print again….keep them coming.
We love your contributions. I think it must be unanimous that Ilvolovers love the lyrics in Italian. The combination of the gorgeous guys with their gorgeous voices, and the mellifluous Italian language is nirvana.
