Last week, IL VOLO took part in a television program in honor of Lucio Dalla, great Italian singer and author of the beautiful “CARUSO”.
The talented Valeria Bosch, has written a short and nice post about this event, and of course, here it is re-proposed for you.
Daniela
(In this comment three great Italian singers who died prematurely, Lucio Dalla, Lucio Battisti and Fabrizio De Andrè, are cited.)
Let’s say that for Il Volo it was a test of maturity: in fact to examine them, there was Lucio (Dalla), the great Lucio. He told them right away, as soon as he saw them: “Guys, I’ll start, so you understand immediately what level you should take.” The boys, to feel up to it, found nothing better than to place there, immediately, a high note of Ignazio, that high note which, years ago, in the Verona Arena, had stunned him, making him exclaim: “Wow, what a voice!!!”
Then, “Gianlucathevoice”, velvet timbre and growing passion, and Piero, who, entering the musical context, with his power makes even the little clouds tremble up there, made Lucio understand that he could not worry: here are the ones to pass the baton to, three boys as seen from the outside, but three giants as to voice, to intonation, to passion, as soon as you hear them sing!
Lucio (Dalla) went to say it immediately there, in the heavenly pastures, to the other magnificent Lucio (Battisti) and to the great Fabrizio (De Andrè). They, the trio that reinvented Italian music in the second half of twentieth century, then quickly put themselves back at their paradisiacal pastimes.
They understood that, in the midst of rap, trap, indie and various amenities, there is someone who still saves Italian music. For the moment they can breathe a sigh of relief.

So proud of them. They will certainly carry the baton forward. They are the best
I’m convinced too, thanks Beverley!
I get goosebumps when I hear them.
Mee too!
Sorry, “me too”!
YES, DANIELA,, THE BATON WAS PASSED TO IL VOLO WHO WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE MORE “JEWELS” TO ADD TO ITALIAN MUSIC TO SHINE BRIGHT IN ITS OWN UNIVERSE OF BEAUTY, MEANING AND SPIRIT,
MY LATE MOTHER LOVED “CARUSO” AND WE PLAYED IT QUITE OFTEN IN HER HOME, ESPECIALLY AFTER HER DEVOTED HUSBAND PASSED AWAY,
GIANLUCA, PIERO, IGNAZIO ARE MAGNIFICENTLY CAPABLE OF MAKING DALLA, BATTISTI AND DE ANDRE SO PROUD SEEING AND HEARING THEM FROM GOD’S PARADISE.
SO PROUD OF THEM, SO PROUD TO BE ITALIAN!

The whole world likes Caruso, it’s a wonderful song and Il Volo sings it beautifully! thanks, Elisa Marie!
You’er so rught, Valerie. Elisa Marie
Caruso is a wonderful song, Elisa Marie. Here in Italy, many artists sing Caruso, but I think that the interpretation of Il Volo is the best.
As long as we have Il Volo, we certainly do not have anything to worry about. They are true to the classical Italian culture because they are true to themselves. Bravo boys!
What a wonderful words, you’re right, Rose Marie!
Wow! I am amazed every time I hear Il Volo sing Caruso. Thank you for this article.
Many thanks to you, Jeanette!
Thank you so much for this video Valeria – I could never tire of hearing our guys sing Caruso – each time I hear them
their voices are more passionate and emotional making Caruso one of my favorites – Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca gave these three Italian singers who came before them a beautiful tribute.
Thank you, Margaret!
Daniela and all: just heard from my cousin in Fl- the boys are in Miami for the PBS Matera concert.
Yes Ann Marie, and now they are already arriving in Chicago.
Love this song especially as Ignazio’s solo. DANIELA THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK.
Grazie Mille, Regina 🙂

Now, they’re already in Atlanta
They are on the move!!
