Ambassadors of the Flight Crew in the World

s - sanremo ilvolo_cmtv_230

My Dear Young Gentlemen of Il Volo,

You have been honored with many important awards and many more will certainly come your way. However, your truest award will always be the one we, The Il Volo Flight Crew, give you every time we hear your voices, see your handsome faces or read your accomplishments. It is the knowledge that we will love and support you to the end of time. If there was a greater award we would give that too.

You may not know us, but we know you well, from the freckle on the end of Ignazio’s nose to the scar on Gianluca’s cheek. We knew you before your countrymen. We knew you when you had curls. To us you are family, to some of us sons or grandsons, to others best friends or heart throbs. We know your families, your friends, your supporters and your critics. More, we know your visions, your morals, your values and your goals. Our support for them is unending. Above all, we know your songs.

This is not an award that was voted on. There were no polls. There was only our time with you and our pride in your talent and in yourselves.

Honor this award, Gentlemen of Il Volo. Hang it above the others.

In Faithful Love and Devotion,
The Flight Crew

NEWS FLASH!! GIANLUCA Really Is SPIDERMAN!!

milano

Here is a photograph of the crowd in Milan that Piero posted on his twitter. If you look closely you can see that several people have spotted Gianluca “webbing” in to the Piazza Duomo. He’s cleverly just out of the picture.  Up until now, this information has been kept secret. But we knew all along that they were Super Hero’s.

Now, which one of you is really Superman?

Welcome Home Ignazio, and Congratulations!

i - rec ambassadore marsala

After many months of wondering if Marsala would honor Ignazio, as the other cities have honored Piero and Gianluca, the day had finally come for Ignazio! Marsala bestowed upon him the honor of “Ambassador of Marsala in the World!” on February 16 at approximately 17 hundred hours, which is about 5:00pm Marsala time. The ceremony lasted about 45 minutes…and due to the small space where the ceremony took place, the city had staged a “maxischermo” outside of the municipal building, since not everyone could fit inside.

There are several videos floating around out there, but my favorite one has to be the one where he is on the stage in the city and all the townsfolk are there and he is singing Grande Amore and the crowd is singing with him. The crowd is quite good and they already know most of the words to Grande Amore in just a few short days. Then, Ignazio, is Ignazio, gently correcting the crowd on some of their misdirected words and pronunciations! When he is finished, the crowd cheers. I believe his mother was on stage with him, as at one point I think I heard him say “mama” during the refrain of Grande Amore.

Of course, everyone in the city is so proud of Ignazio, their Prince, and now Ambassador! Everyone at home, and around the world, is proud of him, as well as Piero and Gianluca. They are such beautiful souls with grounded thoughts and values. Such a rare thing in this world today!

At last Ignazio has received the accolades and honor of his hometown. But was it too much, too late? If it was, he certainly didn’t portray any of those feelings. He seemed very happy in all of the pictures and videos, and why not? They are flying so high right now, let’s hope they don’t come down for a long, long, time!

Wishing you the best…

Grande Amore’s Perfection

 To say that the three young men of Il Volo had the opportunity to present, or introduce, a brand new song at the prestigious Sanremo Festival 2015 in Italy, would be correct, as far as that goes; but you, and I, and Il Volo, also know that there was much more on the line than just that.  Il Volo also had to present themselves, to their own country, the place where they were born and raised.  A country that, in part, had never really had much of a chance to become familiar with them; or had heard about them but were still somewhat skeptical regarding their merits. Italy would be watching for sufficient proof of true and lasting abilities….things of which could be embraced, and held firm.  Il Volo, inside, knew that they had to bring together all the elements of which they were capable, and do it boldly, but with honesty. The unveiling of the new song allotted them the opportunity within it to do just that.  As we expected, from the moment they walked on stage the audience became aware of their professionalism, style, class,  and elegance;— and then came their beautiful voices, voices that immediately revealed the unmistakable passion and love that they held for the music itself. They simply opened their hearts, and so dynamic was their delivery, that even their audience could not escape the emotion that filled the room in those moments. So much so, that it could not be contained, and they rose to their feet in ovation.  Gianluca, Piero, and Ignazio presented, not only the song, but presented themselves, in their own way; a way that cannot ever be duplicated by anyone, ever. Because of their willingness to completely open up, and become vulnerable, that song came bursting forth, straight from deep with their souls, and their audience could felt it, and they responded. They responded because it was real, and they were touched, and at that point it became personal. They were not prepared for such honesty.

GRANDE AMORE, is a beautiful song, filled with words of passion, and a haunting potential to awaken something that has remained  hidden in your heart. For those who feel it “unsingable”, I agree, in part.  It definitely, in my opinion, is not a “whistle while you work” type of song, even though the melody stays in your head, the way it is sung is subject to the singer.  The passion displayed in the way Il Volo sang it, was the way only Il Volo sings.  Beyond that, the way you might sing it is a reflection of your feelings, so make it yours.

 Il Volo dearly loves their country, and it’s people.  It is truly their desire to be better known, not just by name, but by who they really are and what they stand for.  They are very much aware that any respect must be earned, and I think that was totally obvious within their Sanremo appearance.  Gaining that trust and respect from, especially their countrymen, is of the utmost importance to them within their journey to fulfilling their dream.

There have been mountains of articles, critic reviews, interviews, etc.  but there was one posting that I thought was the most honest, to the point, and true, assessment I’ve read.  This was published by Canicatti Web, written by David Difazo, referring to the victory of Sanremo 2015 and Il Volo.

He said, “at this time, many critics have tried to obscure the talent of these guys. I believe that those feelings are subjective, but you have to admit to the skill, talent, and vibrations of these three guys; skills demonstrated also, by their rich curriculum.  Congratulations guys, always stay humble.”

And we’re asked why we love them?  For all these reasons, and many more; too numerous to mention here.  Great job guys, you are indeed the absolute best!  Every time you may come to doubt, just look over your shoulder.  We’re right behind you, always!

Grande Amore – the wait is over! ~~ By Jana

a - jana

We knew it was coming, but when would that be?

We waited, and waited, then shouted with glee!

It was coming soon, but not til after Sanremo;

How long could I last, without a new song from Il Volo?

We then heard the news, it was on Amazon.IT!

There I went with my visa, to order it quickly!

I wanted it now, so express shipping I paid;

Hoping and praying, it would not be delayed!

Three weeks and counting, how much more can I bear?

I kept watch on my email, when would it be there?

The contest had started and Il Volo appeared;

Singing their hearts out, while everyone cheered!

But on Friday the 13th, not bad luck for me,

I read in my mail; the CD would be early!

I jumped up and down, how lucky am I?

I’ll have it soon in my hands; I could just cry.

The day finally came, it was arriving today;

I waited and paced, for the delivery all day.

I tracked it online, it came straight from Milan.

On to Bergamo and Brussells, then finally MY town!

I raced home to get it, but it was not there?

DHL had not come yet – how much more could I bear?

I went to the store, to pick up my dinner.

They had til 8pm, then there was a knock at my door!

It was here, finally, at last, it was here!

I’m sorry, but I could not wait to open it, I fear.

I quickly took pictures and then opened it with care;

Staring lovingly at my hand, so wishing they were there!

I listened and listened, and listened again.

Over and over I played it, I did not want it to end.

But bedtime was coming, I so needed my sleep,

I can listen again tomorrow, for I know it will keep.

Il Volo is love, Grand Amore, to be exact!

The heck with all the critics, they are just hacks!

So listen with joy, Il Volovers everywhere;

And know that we give them our tender loving care!
