Il Volo Visits Ukrainian Refugees by Daniela

On March 30 Il Volo made a very important visit, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, went to the Fratres Mutinae center in Modena (an assistance and charity center near Bologna), where they met Ukrainian children and mothers, who are hosted in this structure.
Here is the article from Il Resto Del Carlino of Modena, which talks about this day, and that I translate for you.
Click HERE for the article from Il Resto Del Carlino News of Modena
Modena, 30 March 2022
An excited smile and a ball with which they improvised a fun football match in the courtyard. This morning the guys from Il Volo, an Italian musical group made up of two young tenors and a baritone, stopped off at the Fratres Mutinae to bring a message of peace to the many refugees hosted, in particular to children.
Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca then visited the Fratres headquarters and then took part in the departure of a second convoy of vehicles from LA SORGENTE Ambulanze which, from its headquarters in via San Donato 5 in Quarto Inferiore (BO), will bring humanitarian aid including medicines and first aid material to the Hospitallers association in Ukraine. The members of the group are already volunteers in the Modena and Bologna associations of the Freatres and recalled, with the help of an interpreter, the many concerts organized in Ukraine, underlining that they have many friends who they hope to meet soon.
“I would like to thank Il Volo for the active participation and closeness they are showing towards our enterprise”, underlined the president of the Perez-Koskowska Foundation, Dr. Cristian Manuel Perez.

IL VOLO kneeling in front of the refugee group

The newspaper LA GAZZETTA DI MODENA published these words and this video:
Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, known as “Il Volo”,  arrived in Modena yesterday morning at the headquarters of the Fratres Mutinae association. A visit to greet the 39 Ukrainian refugees, including 29 minors and 10 women who are guests in the premises of Via Milano. The artists, very sensitive to the theme of volunteering – they themselves are volunteers in associations in Modena and Bologna – wanted to welcome the refugees.
Video by Luigi Esposito
IGNAZIO = We hope to meet soon in Kiev or Odessa and ….
GIANLUCA = …. celebrate the end of this war.
WOMAN’S VOICE = Welcome back to Modena, today for a special occasion.
PIERO = We prefer to see these children in other circumstances, to see them in the places they deserve and that we all deserve, we try to give a gesture of solidarity by being close to them. We are grateful for the work the volunteers are doing. The only thing we can do is stay close to them and bring a smile, like this morning, we played football with the children, and just for this your heart bursts with joy, so it’s the only thing you can do.
GIANLUCA = This situation affects all of us, not only Ukrainians or Russians, but it is a situation that affects the whole world and, touch this situation firsthand, come here and see the situation that these families are experiencing, children who do not know where they are their parents, have no news, and thank goodness there are these people (volunteers) who help this people in great difficulty. We have been to Ukraine many times, and it is a wonderful land. We also have many friends who are suffering, so let’s try to be close to them in this way too.
IGNAZIO =They have already said it all, but it is one situation beyond anyone’s control, and as they said, (Piero and Gianluca) what we can do is try to stay close in our own way, and that’s why we want to thank LA SORGENTE, which has done an immense job. We are very close to them.
MAN’S VOICE = Were you already volunteers?
IGNAZIO = Yes, especially I who are from Bologna, I with my family and my sister, we are volunteers when we can. When I can, I go there, to meet some grannies, maybe who are our fans and maybe do something, but even more so in this situation, we are very close to LA SORGENTE.
PIero kicking the ball with the children
And the RAI3 regional news reported this:
WOMAN’S VOICE = And there are over 19,000 Ukrainian refugees in the region (Emilia Romagna). In Modena, the 3 tenors of Il Volo, visiting a reception center.
WOMAN’S VOICE = And let’s stay in Modena, where the musical trio Il Volo took part in a solidarity initiative, and met some refugees who are welcomed in a structure.
MAN’S VOICE = A ball is enough to break the language barrier, and make these Ukrainian children feel their closeness, fleeing the war and welcomed in Modena. Gianluca Piero and Ignazio, the voices of the famous trio Il Volo, already active in volunteering, wanted to give their personal welcome to the refugees.
PIERO = We know very well their countries, their cities, we have sung many times in Kiev, in Odessa, we have many friends, we remember the welcome we had at the concerts. Today, this is a gesture that makes us feel good.
MAN’S VOICE = Thanks to the joint work of three associations, this structure has been adapted to house about forty refugees, mostly children, with their mothers. Volunteers try to give them a sense of normality, after the trauma of leaving their country.
MAN’S VOICE = The goal is certainly to make this time flow, making sure that they do not realize this distance from their home, hoping that the war will end soon, and also giving them the tools to be able to go home.
WOMAN’S VOICE = Each of us Ukrainians can also carry out their mission from abroad, helping these children or their mothers to translate, to find hospitality.
MAN’S VOICE = The associations have already donated an ambulance, today a second convoy of humanitarian aid, with first aid drugs has left for Ukraine.

IL VOLO talking to several of the people that are helping

Here’s what I like about these guys, that when there is a need, they are there.
I would like to underline some words that have been said:
“you are already volunteers”, already because Il Volo is not new to this association and brings its silent help. Surely, even in the sending of material attended by Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, there will have been their material contribution, but, as they themselves have said several times:
“Charities don’t need publicity.”
You are boys with a hearts of gold! ❤❤❤
I want to finish with this video recorded by Il Volo in Kiev and during the show Dancing with the Stars Ukraine.
A few moments with their friend Max, and during a concert in Kiev.
We hope that such moments of lightheartedness will soon return to Ukraine. 🌿

Piero Barone: Sicily for Peace by Daniela Perani

On March 19, at the Pirandello Theater in Agrigento, an event in favor of peace in Ukraine was held. It was called, SICILY FOR PEACE.
Piero Barone took part in this event.
The event was organized by Silvio Schembri, (journalist) and Lello Analfino (singer and producer), both friends of Piero.
When Piero was proposed to participate, he wasnt sure if he would be in Sicily on those days, but then when he was sure he could be there, he surprised everyone by attending the event.

The video begins with Silvio Schembri coming down from the stage and arriving where Piero Barone is seated.
Silvio makes Piero get up and the people, recognizing him, applaud, then Silvio, imitating the voice of a woman who says:
Did you see, I told you it was him,😁😁
and then presents:  PIERO BARONE, there is no need for an introduction.(applause)
Come with me. (Piero takes off his jacket) Make yourself comfortable.
PIERO: Tonight, I am really happy, honored, to be attending this event. I was fascinated by the Pirandello Theater, because I had never been inside the Pirandello Theater.
SILVIO: This is news that I discovered today, Piero Barone who sang on the most important stages in the world ……
MAN: You went directly to the Ariston (Sanremo stage) without going through the Pirandello Theater, we can say.
PIERO: I realized that it is something that I should have done for some time, because today I arrived 100 meters from the theater and I asked a woman for information:
Madam, where is the Pirandello Theater? and she replied:
You are not Sicilian. (laughter)😁
Yes, but unfortunately I don’t know where it is.
SILVIO: There was never an opportunity, but who knows, maybe this is the first of a long series of occasions.
(on the stairs of the stage)
And here we are, moreover you tour New York, Las Vegas, all parts of the world, but always in Naro, then you come back.
VOICE: (from the audience) Bravo, Naro in the heart !!❤
PIERO: A little while ago I was saying, while I was doing the interview with Silvio…. (There is the overview of the theater, but the interview returns in the backstage)
MAN: The truth is that you like Agrigento so much, when you can live it, we have seen you around, on the seafront, at the tennis club, in short, when you want, Agrigento is your life.
PIERO: Agrigento makes you feel protected, it is a fantastic city. I was born in this magnificent province, I was born in Naro, but I often frequent Agrigento in the summer, I bring all my friends and collaborators to Sicily, I make them all arrive.
(continues on the stairs)
In the city of Agrigento, I don’t know many people, because I frequented it (Agrigento) for the choir of S. Cecilia (as a child, before participating in Ti Lascio una Canzone), when I was a beginner, with Professor Bonfiglio, I spent my childhood there.
SILVIO: Then at 14 you decided to become famous … right? (laughter)😁
PIERO: But I spend my holidays in San Leone (a seaside resort near Agrigento), its great, I take all my friends, my colleagues, I don’t go anywhere, they arrive here in Sicily …
SILVIO: Every now and then you also come to Siculiana Marina … (another seaside resort of Agrigento) 😁
PIERO: Because the best thing is to feel yourself. Today I called Silvio, but not only for this event, but also to ask him where we are going tomorrow, because the first phone call I make when I come to Sicily is to call Silvio Schembri (Silvio gives him a kiss …. applause and laughter)
SILVIO: Because he knows that I always take him to eat well, that you understand!! 😁
PIERO: Two weeks ago, Lello (organizer of the event) sent me a message, and I was far away (he was in the US), and I didn’t know what to answer, I would have said yes right away, but I dont want to give a word, and then invent an excuse if I have a sudden commitment, because unfortunately I am here physically almost never, and now I am overjoyed to give my contribution. I dont sing, without my colleagues (Gian and Ignazio), for various reasons, so today I called Ignazio and Gianluca and I told them:
Any video you will see from tomorrow on the internet, dont worry, Ill sing in a theater, dont worry, and Ill sing, we call it a song…. I want to sing a prayer, because everyone can come here and sing any song, but for an evening like this, I want to sing something special, an Ave Maria (Hail Mary) and its the only one way, for my part, to express my closeness, in such a complex and particular moment. (applause)
(The Ave Maria begins.)

MAN: Thanks to both of you, thanks to Silvio Schembri, thanks to Piero Barone, for what you are giving this evening to the Pirandello Theater, for the solidarity operation you are carrying out and which is not the first time, I also remember when the pandemic broke out, you took an important step.
SILVIO: With the help of many people who are also here, like Lello Analfino and Piero, in the midst of the pandemic, in the first wave, we immediately activated, with many other friends, to find funds.
PIERO: The idea was born during our phone calls: Oh Silvio, what do we do?
SILVIO: At the beginning of the pandemic our talks were about how to cook bread and pizzas, then we said: But what can we do? Are we doing something concrete?
Thanks to all of you.
(video resumes on stage)
LELLO: Piero Barone (hug) You are my nephews. ❤❤

And here is the full video of Pieros entire performance, published by the Pirandello Theater.

SILVIO: Ive dreamed of it for a lifetime (to introduce Piero) and tonight I have to do it myself: On the piano Maestro Salvatore Galante (applause), sings Piero Barone. (Applause – the Ave Maria begins, at the end, long applause, Lello Analfino enters, very excited, long hugs)
LELLO: You are like my nephews.
SILVIO: Yes, uncle, leave us some money later. (laughter)😁(To Piero) We talked about it before, now the concerts start again, the travels, the theaters full …..
PIERO: Yes, we start again on June 2nd after two years, in Italy, we start from the Verona Arena, we will also sing in Taormina, June 11th and 12th and maybe …..
SILVIO: .…. also, in other parts of Sicily, so to speak. Taormina is a fixed stop for Il Volo, as if it were a tradition …
PIERO: He is happy, because when he comes to Taormina, then we go to the disco.
LELLO: I know, he (Silvio) tells me crazy things.
PIERO: The last photo of the concert in Taormina ….
SILVIO: Be careful what you say there are so many secrets …
PIERO: …… it is not a photo of Il Volo on the stage singing, with Etna behind and the sea, but it is a photo of Silvio Schembri in the disco, without a shirt ….😁😁
LELLO: But did you have a bow tie?
SILVIO: Ill explain why. We were in this disco, after the Il Volo concert, and all the girls were saying: a photo, Piero lifts his shirt and shows his abs and I thought, I can do this too …. and then I said: Come here a second and I too will take off my shirt and take the picture, and the (the girls) came😁
But one of the most beautiful things in Taormina, we tell this and then we let you go, it is a fixed stop, when I can, I always go there, and one of the fixed stops when Il Volo sings in Taormina, is Saretto al Bambar where we eat granite there in Taormina.
And when Il Volo arrives in Taormina, you cant imagine whats there, its all full, with their fans who come from all over the world, you hear them speak in all languages, and go inside the Bambar to get the slushes, with all these people, its packed, and so I pull away for a moment and put myself behind to let the fans get closer.
I put myself in a trajectory between Il Volo and two elderly people who were there eating the granita…. (while he talks he sees a woman in the audience laughing) You already know this story madam? Already laughing?😁
At one point the man stops eating and calls the waiter and asks: Excuse me, this whole brothel (crowd of people)
You know, there are those from Il Volo.
This man turns around and the first person he sees is me, he turns around and says to his wife: How much has this become of Il Volo?(he means: how much fat has this of Il Volo become)😁
I swear to you! 😁😁😁 It’s a true story !!
LELLO: And don’t you know that since Silvio goes to Bambar, they have made seafood granita😁
SILVIO: Piero, I dont know what to say, thank you, thank you in my name and in everyones name.

final greetings

It was a really good event and for a good cause.
In these days, Il Volo was live on a pop program of a Korean radio show. I saw them live and it was very strange, because that radio transmits very different music from the one Il Volo sings, but it was beautiful and also appreciated by the young presenter.
Here is the video of Il Volos participation.
Concert dates continue to be added here in Europe and also in Italy and it is with great joy that the date of BRESCIA has also been added. I couldnt believe it, and the news came from OHIO (thanks Rose Marie). The concert will take place on September 2nd outdoors in the beautiful Piazza Loggia, the place where in 2015 I saw my first Il Volo concert.

I struggled a lot to get the tickets, something didn’t work in the presale, but in the end I made it, third row.  I hope I can make some great videos for you, ideally I will take all of you with me!! It will be a great night.

IL VOLO AT FILMING ITALY LA by Daniela Perani

On the evening, of March 1st, Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero got on a plane to Los Angeles to participate in the Filming Italy event.
But what is Filming Italy?
Created and organized by Agnus Dei di Tiziana Rocca and the Italian Institute of Culture Los Angeles, Filming Italy – Los Angeles promotes Italy as a film set and bridge between Italian and American culture. The Festival whose artistic direction is entrusted to Tiziana Rocca, is presented under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles and will see the presence of Consul General Silvia Chiave.
This year, among the various guests, there will also be IL Volo who will also receive an award

Here is the greeting from Il Volo to Filming Italy.
PIERO: We would like to thank Filming Italy LA and the Italian Cultural Institute.
IGNAZIO: Because these have been two difficult years, and a festival like this really was needed.
GIANLUCA: Yes, to start over, to return to reality. We would also like to thank Tiziana Rocca, because she believed in us since the beginning of our career.

And here is Il Volo with Tiziana Rocca and in some beautiful shots. 😉

And here we are on the evening of the event, on the red carpet.

The guys after they received their award!

The following day Il Volo performed, three songs, in the theater but there were only short videos of the performance. Luckily, I found the full video.
“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!”

And here is an article that talks about the Filming Italy Festival in Los Angeles. I have translated the part that interests you, Il Volo.🤗
(click on the link below to see the full article)

Filming Italy LA – Click – here

Il Volo reserved for those present a tasty preview of the concert to be held at the Dolby Theater on October 15: an exclusive performance of three songs taken from the latest album, dedicated to the memory of maestro Ennio Morricone. ‘If’, ‘In Fantasy’ and ‘The Ecstasy of Gold’, the latter famous theme of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, with the words written by the master’s son, Andrea.
The voices of the two tenors and baritone were so powerful that they shook the walls of a theater usually reserved for private screenings, not for a concert of such intensity.

After the Festival, dinner with Tiziana Rocca and the Italian actor Salvatore Esposito.

Here they did a short interview with Access Hollywood.

While they were in Los Angeles, Il Volo was also interviewed by Morning News:
And then, they had an interview that aired on Fred fm.

(enter this link and press the PLAY PODCAST button, the interview is in English)

Below, Il Volo released this nice and funny radio interview with David Serero, for The Culture News on iHeart Radio

They then gave an interview for the Mexican broadcast Telehit.
And another interview for Mexican television, TV Azteca

Also, an interview for ET has been announced, which is in the promo video, but hasn’t aired yet.
The same video was also shared by Fox Theater.
A few more photos in Los Angeles, before returning to Italy.

I think Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca were very happy to be back in the US.
The situation here in Europe is very tense, but we pray, and we are all confident that peace will soon return to reassure all peoples.
For this reason, I want to close again with the video appeal for peace, shot by Il Volo during their period in Los Angeles.

AT DALLA’S HOME by Daniela Perani

On March 1st, it was 10 years since the death of Lucio Dalla, a talented and well-known Italian singer-songwriter, among his most beautiful songs: CARUSO!
Il Volo took part in an event in memory of Dalla, organized by Il Resto Del Carlino, a well-known Bologna newspaper.
The video that follows was broadcast during the news on RAI1.
WOMAN: In Bologna the Il Volo tribute to Lucio Dalla, in the house, now museum, of the great singer-songwriter. The trio sings one of its most evocative songs, CARUSO, exclusively for TG1.
10 years ago, on March 1st Lucio Dalla died. Leonardo Metalli (journalist) went to Bologna, to his house where the singer-songwriter lived, to pay a very special tribute.
Let’s see it.
LEONARDO METALLI: Guys, an honor for everyone, to play on this piano, in the house museum of Lucio Dalla and then dedicate Caruso to him.
PIERO: For us it is a great privilege to participate, to sing this song, for a project organized by QN Carlino (newspaper).
LEONARDO METALLI: Lucio Dalla represents a lot for you, you carry this song around the world.
GIAN: Yes, Lucio Dalla is the history of Italian music, but it is the history of all of us, we grew up with the songs of the master, which made generations dream, so for us it is really a great privilege to be here today.
LEONARDO METALLI: A memory you have of Lucio Dalla, something that is in your heart?
IGNAZIO: A memory, an anecdote, we were at the Arena di Verona, before a television program and we were warming up our voices, I’m a little crazy and I started singing in the corridors. He (Dalla) passes by, and we start vocalizing, to see who made the highest vocalization.
GIAN: Whoever made the highest vocalization won.
PIERO: But Lucio won, but really.
Now make a king major …….
“Dear friend, I am writing to you ……” (Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca sing the beginning of this beautiful song by Dalla)

Then, Il Volo has been invited to visit Dalla’s house-museum, here is the video:

MAN: House of Lucio Dalla, Il Volo ~ This is the house where Lucio Dalla lived all his life, it is huge, very large, it has become a museum.
Let’s go in. (The house is in the center of Bologna. Besides Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, there are also Torpedine, Barbara and Ercole, they meet Tobia Righi, the friend, the producer, the one who has always been close to Dalla)
TORPEDINE: (greeting Tobia) Ignazio said you had a yellow car.
IGNAZIO: Yes, you were coming to get Lucio in a yellow car.
TOBIA: No, white.
Hello (he greets Gianluca) and where is the other one? (Piero, arrives and greets).
PIERO: How are you? It’s nice to see you again.
TOBIA: At 88, I’m still here.
IGNAZIO: Michele is 60 and he looks more than you.
TORPEDINE: Guys you know this thing, he (Tobia) was close to Dalla, from the first to the last day.
PIERO: He instead (Torpedine) went to school with Giuseppe Verdi (famous Italian opera composer, known all over the world).
MAN: You can see it from the beard! (Verdi too had a beard, and white hair) You see he has the same beard!
TOBIA: When you judge a person, you look at the facts.
He (Torpedine) has made facts and deserves to be where he is.
IGNAZIO:  Beccati questa! (idiom to mean that it is just like that)
Let’s go in!
MAN: You said it well, but you (Tobia), then you will tell us how Lucio Dalla was, you have to tell us that you knew him well and you know what the story was like. You who have spent your whole life in this house.
OTHER MAN: Do you know how Dalla called Tobia? Mattarozzo! (Means crazy)
TOBIA: Because I was serious and for him it was crazy to be serious, and I called him Spider.
MAN: When Dalla looked out from the balcony, what did he call you?
OTHER MAN: He called me Rosita, because my surname is La Rosa and he nicknamed me Rosita. One day I shouted at the window: “SPIDER” and he looked out, astounding my friends, of course, and he at seeing me: “ROSITA”.
(Meanwhile, the boys and Torpedine, go up the stairs to get to the entrance).
PIERO: Wow (the first room is full of gold and platinum records, all awards received by Dalla for his career.)
TORPEDINE: It has a certain effect!
MAN: I’ll show you better later.
Lucia Dalla
And here is the video, made by Il Volo at Dalla’s home.
IL VOLO, AT DALLA’S HOME AT THE INVITATION OF IL RESTO DEL CARLINO

For years now, the musical group made up of two tenors and a baritone, has been taking “Caruso” around the world.
As in Italy, even abroad, the piece by Lucio Dalla always receives a new and extraordinary success.
GIAN: Lucio Dalla is the story, the greatest artistic influence, but also, we can say, our childhood, when I say ours, I mean not only ours, but of all of us …..
He made the history of Italian music, bringing it all over the world, especially with songs that have thrilled generations, such as CARUSO….
IGNAZIO: Obviously, for our genre, the first Lucio Dalla song we met was CARUSO. I personally remember that one of the first songs was Ayrton, and then Rondine, La sera dei miracoli, Attenti al lupo (all songs by Dalla).
Well, we always say that there is a genre of music and a song for every mood, and this is Lucio Dalla.
PIERO: Today is a special day for us, because singing CARUSO at Lucio Dalla’s house doesn’t happen every day.
We sing Caruso in all of our concerts, and we dedicate a particular introduction to this piece, because our version is an orchestral version, with many orchestral elements, but it starts with the chords of a guitar.
And we always say, in Japan, America, South America, anywhere: “You will recognize this song by the first notes”, and it is.
This song is universal. Singing it at Lucio Dalla’s house, thanks to the Lucio Dalla Foundation, for opening its doors to us, and thanks to the invitation of QN (Quotidiano Nazionale) and Il Resto del Carlino, for this special project for the anniversary of Lucio Dalla’s death, for us it is a great honor, we thank you and we hope you can enjoy this song in an acoustic version.

Dalla wrote the beautiful song CARUSO in 1986. Of course, it is dedicated to the great Italian opera singer Caruso. This is how the song came to be:
Dalla was in Naples and stayed at the Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, coincidentally in the same room where the tenor Enrico Caruso spent some time before his death many years earlier.
Dalla was inspired to write the song after the owners told him about Caruso’s last days.

Caruso was an acclaimed Italian opera singer; he was one of the greatest and most sought-after singers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Unfortunately, he lived a very difficult and rather unhappy life, having had many challenges and problems with Italian opera houses, but he gained more fame and success in the United States.
Caruso had many romantic relationships, his longest and most passionate love affair was with a married woman with whom he had two children, their affair ended when she left him for their driver. A few years before his death, Caruso met and married a woman 20 years younger than him, Dorothy Park Benjamin, whom Lucio Dalla describes in the song “Caruso.”
The official video of the song by Lucio Dalla, and which I propose below, was shot in the “Suite Caruso” of the Hotel Excelsior Vittoria where Caruso spent most of the last weeks of his life.

I enjoyed this visit to Bologna, in Lucio Dalla’s house and I think it was really exciting for Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio to be there.
I admit that CARUSO is one of my favorite songs and for this reason, I want to close this post with this video where Il Volo sings CARUSO, paired with Lucio Dalla.

EVENTS IN THE FIRST HALF OF FEBRUARY by Daniela

On February 12, Il Volo was a guest on the German TV show ZDF. Here they are upon their arrival in Berlin.

Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero left Italy for Germany on Gianluca’s birthday, already 27 years old for him.
Our “boys” are young men, but Gian without a beard does not look his age at all. Poor Gianluca, he couldn’t even celebrate his birthday with his family, but he celebrated with his two fraternal friends Piero and Ignazio.

The show titled “Die Giovanni Zarrella show”, is hosted by Giovanni Zarrella, who is an Italian naturalized German singer, showman and dancer.
Born to Italian parents in Germany and raised there, he is active and well known, essentially in German-speaking countries.
So here is the performance of Il Volo.
Please click on the photo below to view the video.

(I will try to translate what was said after the performance. I don’t know German, but I try to interpret from the answers what was asked.)
GZ = Ladies and Gentlemen: Il Volo.
Great guys! (applause)
Nice to meet you, how nice to see you.
I + P = Hello everyone.
GIAN = Good evening everyone.
IGNAZIO = I can’t speak German.
GZ = You don’t speak German.
IGNAZIO = No, I can only tell you a few sentences.
GZ = It doesn’t matter, there are those who translate.
I am very happy to have you here, (to Gianluca) was it your birthday yesterday? (Applause)
GIAN = Yes, yes, 27 years old.
GZ = 27, you could be my son!!
PIERO = We want to say something really important, that we really feel in our hearts.
Coming here, in Germany, to see an Italian, conducting his own TV program, is truly fantastic.
GZ = Thanks a lot guys.
GIAN = We can say that Giovanni Zarrella is a pride, not only for Germany, but also for Italy, and it’s beautiful!
GZ = Thanks a lot guys, what a thrill. Thanks again.
Guys, 10 years ago, you started singing around the world, but for two years there has been a break up (Covid), and not much has been done in this time. I didn’t have time for gardening, now I have some reconstructed gardens. What did you do at the time?
IGNAZIO = Surely we have had the opportunity to give space to creativity. We had to think about the time that was coming and we thought about paying a tribute to Ennio Morricone, a great teacher of whom we are very proud and for Italy he is like a flag.
PIERO = We sang all his most important melodies, from “L’estasi dell’Oro”, to “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, to “Mission”, melodies known all over the world and some sung for the first time.
GZ = And all these fantastic melodies, sung for the first time by these fantastic singers, you will find them on their latest album. I am so glad to have seen you this evening.
IGNAZIO = Then during the pandemic we also ate a lot, me in particular. 😁
GZ = Soon back on tour, when are you leaving for America?
When will you return to Germany?
GIAN = We will be back here in Germany soon, after two years of pandemic, as you (to the audience) want to go back to see concerts, we want to go back to doing them.
PIERO = We will be here on June 25th, the day after my birthday, in Frankfurt and on the 26th in Dusseldorf.
GZ = Guys it was a pleasure. Ladies and gentlemen: Il Volo, thank you guys, grazie mille!!
And this comment was posted by Giovanni Zarrella, with a short video:
“Thanks a lot @ilvolomusic! 🇮🇹 Crazy voices and a great version of the classic The Ecstasy of Gold! 😍 We got goosebumps and you? 👏
These days, also, the second series of the TV drama has started: MAKARI, whose theme song was written by Ignazio Boschetto and sung by Il Volo.
The first series was very successful, but the first episode of the second series also had the highest television ratings.
Here is a summary of what the online newspaper DIRETTA SICILIA wrote, about the theme song:
Click here to read the article in Diretta Sicilia.
MÀKARI TRIUMPHS ON RAI 1, THE BEAUTIFUL  THEME SONG IS SUNG BY IL VOLO.
Màkari is not surprising only for the story of Saverio Lamanna (the protagonist). It is a product also characterized by the extraordinary participation of Ignazio Boschetto.
The Il Volo singer has in fact written the theme song of the same name for the fiction, which also marked the first season. “An honor for me to have written it – said the artist to the Giornale di Sicilia – is a song that tells about my Sicily where I return every year in the summer.”
The other two members of the group, Gianluca Ginoble and Piero Barone, sing the song with him and said they were “proud of the work Ignazio did.”

Il Volomusic posted this comment:
“Dear friends of Màkari, Saverio Lamanna’s investigations are back and we too, with the initials theme song you loved so much, and for this we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Màkari is home and our heart sings for you.”
So let’s listen to the beautiful song with the video of the second series. ❤❤❤

About Màkari.
I have been pointed out to these three beautiful videos, published by Los Volos Mexico, where only the single voices of Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero are heard singing the song. I find them fantastic, and you?

Grazie mille to Los Volos Mexico! ❤❤❤
But surely this is the news that made me most proud of our boys.
On Sunday 7 February, on RAI 1 in a television program entitled I FATTI VOSTRI, a beautiful interview with Pope Francis was broadcast.
Among the various questions, one concerned music, because the Pope was photographed by the paparazzi, while he was leaving a music record shop.
The Pope said he had not gone to buy records, but to bless the shop which is owned by friends. When asked what kind of music he listens to, the Pope said, without going into particular, that he listens to a lot of classical music and that he also likes tango (He is Argentine).
But the two journalists, who are very curious, intercepted a tweet made by Cardinal Franco Ravasi shortly before the start of Sanremo.
The cardinal’s comment goes like this:
“Sanremo 2022 is approaching and I have received another series of musical materials from Pope Francis. Best wishes to the Festival (Sanremo).
And in the video the vinyl of Il VOLO appears clearly visible.

Here Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio in audience with the Pope.

Excellent musical taste, Pope Francis, who knows if he will have heard the beautiful tango POR UNA CABEZA sung by Il Volo …….

That’s all for now.
Ignazio Piero and Gianluca are not very active in this period, I believe that all their attention is towards the tour, the dates are slowly approaching and we hope to have confirmation that everything can be done, in safety for everyone. We all desire for normality and to attend many good concerts !!!
