SANREMO , EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW by Daniela

Less than a month is left until the Sanremo Festival and as I feel you are interested in the event, I pass on the translation of how the various evenings will take place.

The 69th edition of the Festival of the Italian Song of Sanremo – which sees Claudio Baglioni’s artistic direction for the second year – will be broadcast on Rai1 from Tuesday, February 5 to Saturday, February 9, 2019 live from the Ariston Theater. The Festival will be divided into five evenings and, new this edition, will include a single race: there will be no more “champions” and “new proposals” but only artists who will compete on equal terms so that their song can achieve victory (two winners Sanremo Giovani – which will take place on 20 and 21 December – will enter the February 2019 competition).

First Evening (Tuesday, February 5, 2019)

The curtain will rise on stage at the Teatro Ariston and all 24 artists will sing their song for the first time.

The voting for each of the aforementioned songs will take place with mixed system: (i) of the public, through Televoto  (vote from home through the phone),(ii) ( of the Demoscopic jury (a sample of 300 people selected among the regular users of music, will vote at home, through an electronic voting system) and (iii) of the jury of the Press Room (press room journalists) . The three voting systems will have – in determining the ranking of the 24 songs interpreted in the evening – a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 40%; 30% Demographic jury; jury of the Press Room 30%.

Second Evening (Wednesday, February 6, 2019)

This will be an opportunity to dedicate ourselves to the second listening of 12 of the 24 songs in the competition.

Voting will take place in a mixed system: (i) of the public, through Televoto, (ii) of the Demoscopica jury and (iii) of the jury of the Press Room. The three voting systems will have – in determining the ranking of the 24 songs interpreted in the evening – a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 40%; 30% Demographic jury; jury of the Press Room 30%.

Third Evening (Thursday 7 February 2019)

During this event we will be able to listen for the second time the remaining 12 of the 24 songs in the competition.

Voting will take place in a mixed system: (i) of the public, through Televoto, (ii) of the Demoscopica jury and (iii) of the jury of the Press Room. The three voting systems will have – in determining the ranking of the 12 songs interpreted in the evening – a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 40%; 30% Demographic jury; jury of the Press Room 30%.

At the end of the Third Night there will be a ranking of all 24 songs / Artists, resulting from the average percentage of votes obtained during the First Night and those obtained during the Second Evening (for the first 12) and the Third evening (for the second 12).

Fourth Evening (Friday 8 February 2019)

It will be a real evening-event in which each artist will sing – in the company of a guest – his own song, in a version “revisited” for the occasion.

Voting in the evening will take place with mixed system, (i) of the public through the Televoto, (ii) of the jury of the Press Room and (iii) of the jury of the Experts (composed of characters from the world of music, entertainment, culture). The three voting systems in the evening will have a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 50%; jury of the Press Room 30%; jury of experts 20%.

The average percentage of votes obtained in the evening and those obtained in the previous evenings will determine a ranking of the 24 songs / artists. Rai-Rai Uno Direction reserves the right to assign a special prize to the interpretation-performance with the most voted guest artist in the evening.

Fifth Evening – Final Evening (Saturday 9 February 2019)

After having listened to all 24 songs in the competition, we will discover the winning track of the 69th edition of the Italian Song Festival.

Voting will take place in a mixed system: (i) of the public, through Televoto, (ii) of the jury of the Press Room and (iii) of the jury of experts. The three voting systems in the evening will have a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 50%; jury of the Press Room 30%; jury of experts 20%.

At the end of the voting, the average percentage of votes obtained in the evening and those obtained in the previous evenings will determine a ranking of the 24 songs / artists. Repetition – through live performance or through recording (RVM) of the last performance – of the 3 songs (or parts of them) that have obtained the highest overall score in the aforementioned ranking.

At the end, there will be a new vote, always with a mixed system: (i) of the public, through Televoto, (ii) of the jury of the Press Room and (iii) of the jury of experts. The three voting systems will always have a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoto 50%; jury of the Press Room 30%; jury of experts 20%. The average of the voting percentages obtained in the last voting session and those obtained in the previous votes will determine a new ranking of the 3 songs / Artists. The song / Artist first in the standings will be proclaimed Winner of Sanremo 2019. The second and third classified will also be proclaimed.

Therefore you understand that voting at home will have a great weight.

We will be able to vote 5 times from every telephone (fixed or portable).

You can also vote from Europe if you use a telephone card (also minimum rechargeable) of the TIM operator, VODAFONE, WIND, 3. It is also possible to vote by text message.

I’m finding out if people in the U.S. can vote by mobile phone and if the vote will be valid.

Sanremo Young, which was broadcast in December, was also visible in live streaming, I think it will also be done for the February race.

This news has just been published: For those who do not have the opportunity to see the Festival, there is an  alternative way to view it: watching the show in streaming, thanks to the RaiPlay platform, which is also completely free (however you must register).

I will keep you informed about live streaming and also about the possibility of voting.
