Definition of a “renaissance man: a person of many talents or areas of knowledge.” That’s our Piero. Let’s see, in addition to having a show-stopping voice, he has mastered an array of musical instruments. He recently picked up a clarinet during an impromptu jam session with Gianluca, Ignazio, and the guys of their band, and he sounded like a modern day version of Benny Goodman. (Yes, I remember him, does anyone else?) We’ve seen the amazing video of him, not only singing, but also playing the guitar, keyboard and drums all at one time. What a guy!
Not only that. He swims, dives, climbs, drives the speed boat and builds sand castles. He cooks, (I think breakfasts are his specialty, not that I’ve experienced that, darn!) He rides camels and horses. He can jump really high as we’ve seen at the end of the concerts, and he surely jumped into my heart the first time I saw him.
Yes, he is a man of many talents, not the least of which is bringing joy to so many of us with his glorious voice and just looking at him. The thing about Piero’s renditions of the songs he sings, in addition to the quality of his voice, (which has been so well trained) he brings an amazing level of interpretation and emotion that’s so evident in his expression, both facial and musical. I have always been in awe of how those guys, Gianluca and Inazio, too, could express such feeling in the songs (even the romantic ones) back in the day when they were so young.
So, Piero, we have seen you develop into a true renaissance man. You never cease to surprise and delight us. When you sing, “she was my woman” (Delilah) my knees turn to jelly. And from other comments from female fans, I’m not the only one.
I can’t imagine what you will come up with next. Scuba, sky diving? You are quite daring, so I fear that you will be trying something dangerous—please don’t. We want you safe and sound, bringing us your delightful presence for a long time.
