SONGS AND TRANSLATIONS by Daniela

As you requested, here I am with three other texts of the songs of the CD MUSICA with the related translations.

LONTANO DAGLI OCCHI

“Lontano dagli occhi”,  was presented at the Sanremo Festival by Endrigo in a double performance with Mary Hopkin; obtained the 2nd place at the festival and reached the 18th place in the sales ranking.

Che cos’è?
C’è nell’aria qualcosa di freddo
Che inverno non è
Che cos’è?
Questa sera i bambini per strada
Non giocano più

Non so perché
L’allegria degli amici di sempre
Non mi diverte più
Uno mi ha detto che

Lontano dagli occhi
Lontano dal cuore
E tu sei lontana
Lontana da me

Per uno che torna
E ti porta una rosa
Mille si sono scordati di te

Lontano dagli occhi
Lontano dal cuore
E tu sei lontana
Lontana da me

Ora so
Che cos’è questo amaro sapore
Che resta di te
Quando tu
Sei lontana e non so dove sei
Cosa fai, dove vai

E so perché
Non so più immaginare il sorriso
Che c’è negli occhi tuoi
Quando non sei con me

Lontano dagli occhi
Lontano dal cuore
E tu sei lontana
Lontana da me

Per uno che torna
E ti porta una rosa
Mille si sono scordati di te

Lontano dagli occhi
Lontano dal cuore
E tu sei lontana
Lontana da me

Per uno che torna
E ti porta una rosa
Mille si sono scordati di te

Lontano dagli occhi
Lontano dal cuore
E tu sei lontana
Lontana da me

AWAY FROM THE EYES

What is that?
Something cold is in the air
What a winter it is not
What is that?
This evening the children on the street
They do not play anymore

I do not know why
The joy of the friends of all time
I do not enjoy it anymore
One told me that

Away from the eyes
Far from the heart
And you are far away
Far from me

For someone who comes back
And he brings you a rose
A thousand have forgotten about you

Away from the eyes
Far from the heart
And you are far away
Far from me

Now I know
What is this bitter taste
What remains of you
When you
You are far away and I do not know where you are
What are you doing, where are you going?

And I know why
I can not imagine a smile anymore
What’s in your eyes
When you’re not with me

Away from the eyes
Far from the heart
And you are far away
Far from me

For someone who comes back
And he brings you a rose
A thousand have forgotten about you

Away from the eyes
Far from the heart
And you are far away
Far from me

For someone who comes back
And he brings you a rose
A thousand have forgotten about you

Away from the eyes
Far from the heart
And you are far away
Far from me

A CHI MI DICE

“A chi mi dice”  is a song from the Blue boy band. It is an adaptation in Italian of the song Breathe Easy, taken from their third album Guilty, written by Tiziano Ferro and published as a single in 2004.

Sorriderai
E ti rivedo come sei
Incrocerai
Lo sguardo mio per poi dirmi addio
E mentirei
Se ti dicessi “ora vai”
Oramai, oramai

Ah, chi mi dice
Che tornerai
Non credo oramai
Oh, chi ti dice
Che sto male pensandoti
Tu sorridi voltandoti
Verso lui

Indosserai
Sorrisi, allegria ma senza magia
Non piangerai
Perché tu non riesci a perdere mai
Ma lo sai (ma lo sai)
Ho perso tutto e tu non perdi mai
Oramai, oramai, oh

Oh, chi mi dice
Che tornerai
Non credo oramai
Oh, chi ti dice
Che sto male pensandoti
Tu sorridi voltandoti
Verso lui

Sorriderai
Nulla ha più senso oramai
E girerò le città
Ma non ti scorderò

Oh oh oh, oh, oh
Che tornerai
Non credo oramai
Oh, chi ti dice
Che sto male pensandoti
Tu sorridi voltandoti
Verso lui
Verso lui

TO WHO TELLS ME

You will smile
And I see you as you are
You will cross
My gaze and then say goodbye
And I would lie
If I told you “now go”
By now, now

Ah, who tells me
That you will come back
I do not believe now
Oh, who tells you
I’m sick thinking about you
You smile while turning around
To him

You will wear
Smiles, joy but without magic
You will not cry
Because you can never lose
But you know (but you know)
I lost everything and you never lose
By now, now, oh

Oh, who tells me
That you will come back
I do not believe now
Oh, who tells you
I’m sick thinking about you
You smile while turning around
To him

You will smile
Nothing makes more sense now
And I will turn the city
But I will not forget you

Oh oh oh, oh, oh
That you will come back
I do not believe now
Oh, who tells you
I’m sick thinking about you
You smile while turning around
To him
To him

ARRIVEDERCI ROMA

Before starting this song I have to explain a little bit of the history of these lyrics.
“Arrivederci Roma”, is a song written by Renato Rascel (Italian singer-songwriter) in the popular roman dialect in 1955, is inspired by the beauties of the eternal city, which the tourist admires for the last time, before leaving.
In the version of IL VOLO, all the introduction is missing, starting with the first refrain.
The original Italian lyrics are very different from the English translation.
I will show the original lyrics and their translation, in this way you can have a comparison with English lyrics.

Arrivederci, Roma…
good bye…

Arrivederci Roma…
good bye…
au revoir…

Si rivede a spasso in
carrozzella e ri-pensa a
quella “ciumachella” (ciumachella= vezzeggiativo riferito ad una donna)
ch’era tanto bella e
che gli ha detto
sempre “no!”

Arrivederci, Roma…..

Si ritrova a pranzo a
Squarciarelli
fettuccine e vino dei
Castelli come ai tempi
belli che
Pinelli immortalò!

GOODBYE ROMA

Arrivederci Roma…
good bye …
au revoir …

He finds himself at lunch a
Squarciarelli (restaurant in Rome)
fettuccine and wine dei
Castles as in the past (the Castles: they are a group of towns close to Rome and excursion destinations)
beautiful that
Pinelli immortalized! (Pinelli: artist who created many paintings with customs and traditions of the people of Rome)

Arrivederci Roma…
good bye …
au revoir …

You review for a walk in
wheelchair and re-think of
that “ciumachella” (ciumachella = endearment referring to a woman)
that was so beautiful and
who told him
always “no!”

Arrivederci Roma…..

He finds himself at lunch a
Squarciarelli
fettuccine and wine dei
Castles like at the time
beautiful that
Pinelli immortalized!

I hope you enjoyed these three beautiful songs and their translations.

I’ll wait for you next time, for the last three songs I’m going to translate.
