Due to the fragment of the video relating to the Radio Number One interview, where it seemed that Piero and Gianluca had a difference of opinion, a video that we have already published here and we have already talked about, and despite the denials from Stefano Fisico who had interviewed Il Volo at that time and also by one of his colleagues, many Italian journalists and as many newspapers published that Il Volo was disbanding.
So all the newspapers reported the news that Il Volo had reached the end of the line, that the boys would split up and a lot of people believed these words, despite many fans (including me) writing that they didn’t believe these fake messages.
Some newspapers had even looked for the causes of the division, saying that the cause was Piero and for this reason he was already taking opera singing lessons on his own…..others wrote that the cause was Gianluca because his girlfriend (who no longer has ) with his contacts (his grandfather in the cinema field) had pushed him to undertake a career as an actor……others have written that the cause was Ignazio thinking about imminent marriage and that women divide groups.
Some articles even put all the concerts on the tour at risk, advising fans to be careful when buying tickets… Incredible!!
ALL THIS WAS EXTREMELY FALSE BUT THE NEWSPAPERS, FOR DAYS AND DAYS, CONTINUED TO WRITE THIS NEWS.
Only the journalist Alessi, of Novella 2000 a gossip newspaper, had the courage to go against the grain and make this video:
ALESSI= Good news, the guys from Il Volo are not separating, these days all the sites, newspapers etc. after there had been a small fight between two of the guys from Il Volo, they wrote that they are separating, that they will no longer be together, that everyone will go for themselves, reckless lives of soloists etc., among other things, even Rosario Fiorello had intervened to do a public appeal from VIVA RAI 2 (Fiorello’s show) to say not to separate, after 883 and Benji and Fede (groups that separated) don’t separate too.

Do you remember the ballet performed at the beginning to the music of Capolavoro?
The choreographer of that ballet is Luca Tommassini, a famous Italian choreographer who also worked with Madonna.
At the beginning of Il Volo’s career, when they were little and in America, he was the one who instructed them on how to move on stage, I also seem to remember that he appears in a PBS video while giving the kids some advice on stage.

Luz, the gossips are always lurking, but the fact that journalists are the ones bringing up this bad news is truly shocking, and I still have to tell you that despite the clarity made by our guys, there are still newspapers that are writing about the separation of Il Volo . For me too, this is all part of a plan to discredit our young men, there is very little bad to say about them, and therefore journalists latch onto anything even ridiculous. And to think that if they wanted there would be a lot to say about their tour, about the event in Egypt, but nothing, the newspapers don’t say a word about this!! Incredible. Luckily the three of them continue on their way with their heads held high!! And we are here for them.
Huh…. Daniela and Pat – I really don’t know where to start or end. I have had to re-read the article and run the videos several times just to get a slight understanding of what this is all about. Not understanding a word of Italian and English likewise being a foreign language to me – it is truly difficult to understand the Morning Show correctly as it appears to be based on Italian humor and irony and referring to persons and songs unfamiliar to me – so one has to be very careful not to misunderstand or interpret are incorrectly. So thanks a million indeed for taking the time to translate and guideline us through same.
And oh boy – this seems to be an a lot more complex and complicated situation than anticipated. What a mess. And what a sick press. But the guys wanted to be part of Sanremo primarily due to the huge media attention and hence PR opportunity connected to same – and did they ever have that goal fulfilled!!! Only I don’t think it was down this lane they had hoped it would take them…. But as it is said: Better bad publicity than none. And if I have understood it correctly then this morning show was a really good thing for them and a great way to set things straight. Using humor in stead of getting into unworthy discussions trying to defend themselves and getting more shit thrown in their faces is a fine choice. Kudos guys. And than you so much to Fiorelli and team for standing up for the guys and give them a platform.
Also thank you for verifying the connection between the guys and the choreographer of the ballet performed to “Capolavoro”. I had heard it was a friend of theirs but I wasn’t aware that he had taught them stage appearance as teenagers. Personally I wasn’t fond of the choreography finding it a bit too daring and not the least too narrow in its interpretation of the text, which the guys with great efforts have tried to explain to us being of a much broader and more profound character. Anyhow I do in general prefer no dancers, videos or other distractions at all when they sing – I so much more appreciate being able to concentrate and fully enjoy their facial expressions when they sing. And some times they are probably better off without a too close collaboration with friends and family when it comes to professional advice and instructions…
I do, however, very much love the beautiful ice skating performed to “Capolavoro”. That was very classy and top notch.
Well, it is time to look forward – and in a few weeks only we are to finally learn of the new album. It is very exciting and I hope it will live up to all the fine words and be just the right songs and styles enabling them to put a bit of the old school bel canto behind them and bring them into a more contemporary environment yet without loosing themselves and the background on which their career has been built. I cross my fingers that it will be successful and bring them yet some steps up the ladder. I have already ordered my copy (by Amazon.it) and can hardly wait.

I agree with all you said, Kirsten. One thing I thought was very nice was the ice skating video. That couple was amazing and performed moves I have never seen before. Of course the background music was also excellent but I am very biased! 😄🥰

You are right the music made the skate – ok so I am biased! Actually my daughter skated for years and my almost 16 yr old granddaughter continues to skate now! So I am confident I know a thing or two about the sport!

I warned you Kirsten, in the case of participation in Fiorello’s show, it is not enough to read an automatic translation, because the situation had to be explained from the beginning, surely you abroad do not know how verbose the Italian press has been on the issue of ” separation of Il Volo”, meaningless “rivers of words” were truly written and many fans believed this. The denial made by Fiorello, being a show with a comedic background, which he loves to play down, had to be explained well, because certain sentences, read literally, can lead to false interpretations. This is why I have gone into the explanations and I hope I have made people understand the Italian sense of humour, I certainly believe that Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca had a lot of fun……Ignazio calls Gianluca John Lennon (since the newspapers have painted Eleonora like a Joko Ono) ah ah ah!!

But I have to say a few more words about hot ballet, but I will do so by responding to Linda.
Yes, I believe that Il Volo’s objective of having visibility has, for better or worse, been achieved. This evening they will be guests on another television program: Le Iene.
Many commented on the Instagram video with the two dancers in the water that that dancing was not appropriate to the song. I did not like it at all. Many didn’t!
So Did I. I watched it only once. But I found it too sexy for the audiance and Il Volo. I wonder how they could stand it.🤔
Linda, here I am to clarify a couple of things about hot ballet!
As you read in what I wrote, the choreographer of the ballet is a great friend of Il Volo and also a very appreciated choreographer.
Coincidentally, this year he is also the choreographer of Fiorello’s show. His ballets are always quite particular, in the sense that they are different from the usual ballets, but this is also his strength.
To me too, that ballet seemed out of place, both for the weather (it was very cold and raining and the two dancers were almost naked), I considered the ballet a little too hot (but I know well that it’s the genre by Tommassini) and which diverted attention from our boys, because we fans are very pleased that the attention is on them, since they are there on stage. I must tell you that I was in the Arena at the concert for Morricone and there were dancers there too and they distracted a lot of attention from our guys…you from home perceived them less, because the video footage did not enhance them, but in Arena could be seen very well and were very distracting.
I studied ballet and I must tell you that the performance of the two dancers was very beautiful technically speaking and also very difficult.
I also believe that that ballet was done by Tommassini precisely to pay homage to our boys, he is very attached to them and wanted to do something very particular. Furthermore, if you look carefully, the dancers performed in the body of water which is also in the video of Capolavoro, and it was very risky for them, but it had to recall the video of the song, in fact also the beginning Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca they were sitting as if in cinema seats, exactly as the words of the song say. So I think the choreography took the song into great consideration and Tommassini wanted to give a nice gift to our guys. Now perhaps he wasn’t able to have the impact he hoped for on the audience, who watched the hot performance in particular and I have to tell you that my first impression was like that too, so I fully understand the feeling you all had.
Grazie, Daniela, for this excellent explanation of the ballet done at Fiorello’s show while the guys sang Capolavoro. My first thought when I saw it was how shocking, but while watching it I also began to appreciate the sheer strength it took to perform the moves that this couple did. I did not even think that this whole production was to mimic the words of the song, and how the official video was made with the guys in the shallow water. But I have to agree that it still was very distracting for those of us seeing it for the first time, much like the dancers you mentioned in the Morricone concert.
Thanks for sharing your personal view on the ballet as well Daniela. I concur with most of your thoughts here. Actually, I did realize right away that the dance was to resemble the official video for “Capolavoro” with the guys seated in the cinema chairs in front of the round “Earth” and that the dancers were placed in the shallow pool in the same way as our guts were “floating” around in the ditto in their video. So far so good. And I agree that technically the dancers were skilled and good at doing the choreographed moves and drama. I have also learned by reading up on the choreographer that his modern ballets are all pretty much down this lane and hence his “signature”. Where it goes wrong is, however, that his interpretation of the lyrics seems to be limited to be about love/sex not realizing that it is supposed to be a lot more profound, broader and on a higher level. Like ie. an emotion, a meeting with somebody, a situation or an idea that suddenly occur and in a split second changes your life. “As fallen from the sky” like they sing. Something truly big and undefinable – something divine and almost heavenly. In my eyes the ballet did not reflect that and hence brought the message several levels down, if you can follow me. It is what you could have anticipated to see in a Las Vegas night club – but not early in the morning in the rain in a street in Rome on a breakfast shoe – and not giving this song the expected value added bonus. Having learned that the choreographer is an old friend of the guys I am not in doubt that he has put in an extra effort to please the guys – it did only not come out right.
Personally I prefer to have Il Volo on the stage alone without a lot of stuff going on around them and with minimum light show etc – I want to have all focus centered on them and their singing/the music / and no distractions of any kind. To me the guys “10 Year Jubilee Show” in Matera is one of the best stage settings I have seen. No co stars, no dancers, no extravagant or avant-garde costumes, no flashy light show – only the silhouettes of a beautiful medieval village as a back drop. Just three handsome young men filling the stage out with their beautiful voices and wonderful music.
Well enough about that and I have said my two cents.

Hi Kirsten – Touche’!! to all of your comments – I love all that you say about stage presentation – you make great sense – it does matter & I agree with you that stage theatrics can be overdone – appropriate visual arts are so important – IL Volo is a class above dancers flopping around – certainly not a good look & not sophisticated at all – Il Divo never ventured into that sort of thing & they always looked great!! – your comments are enlightening – I always enjoy them – have a good week Kirsten – much love.

Pat – I laughed too with you!! – like you I meant no disrespect to anyone – dancing in the right place at the right time is very much appreciated – but not when our beloved Piero – Ignazio & Gianluca are presenting themselves with style & grace on stage – love you girls for your dedication – you always say everything diplomatically – I did love our boys doing the Rap sequence sometime back too though but there again it was done with style – I am happy somebody mentioned it – love you beautiful hearts – have a good week –
Kirsten, I absolutely agree with what you wrote and with the analysis of how a performance of Il Volo should be represented, they already fill the scene with their presence and with their quality of voices, therefore everything else is superfluous, but my aim was to make people understand the reason for such a ballet and then I agree with you that the sexual side was expressed more there and not the sentimental side. Even when there was the concert dedicated to Morricone, there was a sense of the presence of the dancers, who I don’t think were wanted by Il Volo, but were requested by the Arena association because we were in times of Covid and the message was that all the arts, therefore singing, music, ballet, scenography (mega screens with images), acting (there were also actors who read), in short all the possible arts in the Arena resumed their existence after a stoppage due to Covid.
So there is always a purpose, which sometimes isn’t understood, especially by fans like us who would always and only like to see Il Volo!!
Jude, I too laughed at your explanation of the dancers fluttering…..that ballet was certainly very distracting, also because the shots lingered a lot on the dancers. The pair of skaters are the Italian ice skating champions and have already done an exercise on another song by Il Volo but this one for the skating gala was really very well done. They will go to the Olympics.
I hope this is the program they skate for the Olympics. It was really terrific! And of course, the music was magnificent!
Ladies, remember the Olympics are another 2 .,years away! Highly doubt they will skate the same program then. They will need a higher degree of difficulty by then! Lovely program for now 🥰

Ice skating is going through another change! Change in competition requirements, partner changes, retirements etc. Who knows what the music will be like each new season – il Volo would be perfect!! Short funny story, today I was at my balance class and the lady next to me said we need some music and I said start singing! She started with Oh sole o-moo and I burst out laughing! I said have you ever heard of Il Volo , three gorgeous men from Italy, and she relied yes!! Small world – and we are all seniors in this class! My personal saying is, my body is old but my mind is young ❤️🇨🇦🥰
The produce manager in my local store is Italian and we often kid each other about Il Volo. He says his wife loves them–I have a sneaking suspicion he likes them a lot too! We Il Volovers are everywhere!

Nope, I’m in Toronto. I was in BC exactly once, a very long time ago, when Vancouver was still relatively small–the whole town fit in the bowl between the mountains–hadn’t climbed up the sides yet. That was in 1956!! We were on a family vacation to visit cousins in the Seattle area, and one of my aunts wanted to go to Victoria to see the gardens. So we took a ferry across the sound, went to Vancouver and Victoria. I remember it well–had a great time!
Toronto – I used to live there but had to get back to BC as I missed the mountains and ocean! Both Toronto and Vancouver are huge now. If Il Volo plays TO next year, I’ll be back there in a heartbeat! I still pray for Vancouver but have my doubts!
They always come to Toronto. Sometimes–actually most of the time–it is their first stop. Big Italian community here.
Being the first has its drawbacks–once they were here and the band hadn’t arrived yet so the concert was with “canned” music. That whole concert had its drawbacks. It was in a casino–a large auditorium with cement floors and folding chairs for seating! I did not think it was their fault. And they never went to that venue again.
How often have they been there? I guess it has only been just over a year since I literally discovered them! A few years ago I called my girlfriend and said there is an Italian group coming. To Vancouver, do you want to go? She said her son had taken her to see the 3 tenors and she said that was enough opera for her so we didn’t go!! Oh well, sometime life passes you by!! One day my dream will come true 🙏 😇 ❤️🔥

Sorry for the delay in answering, Sheila. The last two concerts were at the Meridian Hall on Front Street. I think it used to be called the Sony Centre. They were also at the venue where the Toronto Symphony plays–Weston? Hall, a while back. At a casino, and once a very very long time ago in Ontario Place! I wasn’t at that concert but someone I know was, and she said it was freezing–it was at some tent like structure that had no sides and just a roof–and it was late October! Whoever booked that one sure didn’t know Canadian weather! I think now they are a bit more savvy to what they are up against. The night of the casino concert there was a big snowstorm, my husband and I booked into a motel–no way were we going to drive back to Toronto at midnight in that mess. It was quite far out in the boondocks too. I wondered how people without cars were able to get there and then I discovered the casino had buses that came from various places.

I can’t imagine how much time it took to put this in the order that it happened and to include the links, translations and photos. You two are awesome! I am one of those that didn’t think it was necessary to have the dancers perform in front of the boys. But apparently it didn’t bother the boys, so ok I guess. Bravo to Ernesto for his input with the album/cd, I hope he continues to be a part of the team. It was good of Eleonora to make a statement to set the record straight. I did not expect that. BTW I have pre-ordered my autographed cd from Amazon.it. I can’t wait to hear the songs. I have nothing but admiration and respect for Piero, Gianluca and our soon to be married Ignazio. Happy, safe touring to them and I hope to see them soon here in the USA in 2025. Also, congratulations to Piero for running the 1/2 marathon this past weekend.

I am with all the naysayers about the dancers. I have never liked any dancers behind them or in front of them–some of the Italian TV programs seem to have this kind of addition as a matter or course. I think it subtracts and detracts from their performance! I try to ignore them, but this pair was really hard to ignore!

I watched all the videos and must say the Italian figure skaters doing their performance to the new Capolavoro music was just poetry on ice. Reminds me of when the Japanese skating champion, Yuzuru Hanyu skated to their rendition of Notte Stellata (The Swan). Such beauty is breathtaking.

Dolores, it was truly an undertaking to put the article together, because news follows one another quickly and all the Facebook pages aspire to put the news first, but in an unrelated way, I like to give a thread to everything that happens, but It’s not easy, you have to explain the various situations and I often have to say to Pat: “wait, you have to include this news too”. This evening Il Volo will be on Le Iene, another television show and therefore there will still be things to say and explain. Despite everything, the Italian press is still writing about the dissolution of Il Volo, they are hardheaded!!!

You all deserve the highest level of recognition for performing over and above the call of duty 🫶 I have seen lots of dance in my life however I do prefer the pair on the ice over the pair in the pool! The pool couple were amazing however I felt their location was inappropriate! Our boys may disagree, after all boys will be boys 😂even if they are men!
I have decided I am going to follow their Instagram posts and forget all the others! Some of the pictures posted are older and I saw them at least a year ago!

I love Fiorello (think he’s another National Italian treasure) and really got a kick out of seeing the guys’ old “rap” video again. Regarding all the split reporting, it just shows how important the guys really are to Italy after all.

I’m glad Daniela translated this one because there was no way I was going to be able to hear many of the words to be able to figure out even a little bit of what was being said. Thank you so much Daniela for all the information. I’m sure the press will find something else negative to write about Il Volo. You would think by now people would realize how biased they are. The show with Fiorello was very funny. He is very good with the guys. I had never seen the rap video before. That was hilarious. I don’t think there is anything they can’t sing although I don’t consider rap singing. The skaters were beautiful. Their performance was incredible. It was a beautiful performance to a beautiful song. So nice to see an Il Volo song used like that. Wishing them well with their concerts.
Cathy there is a lot of sympathy and respect between Il Volo and Fiorello and therefore a nice atmosphere is created.
So you had never seen Il Volo’s rap performance??? It’s really strange to see them singing like that!! 🙂 🙂
