AS promised, here’s the video with the questions Il Volo was asked during their visit to the editorial office of the newspaper IL RESTO DEL CARLINO.
As always, I thank Il Volo En Clase for the video with the translation.
Let me know if any of you recognize the question you sent in.
It’s a very interesting video, and as always, with very good answers. Enjoy it by turning on the subtitles!
Daniela 🤗
Credit to owners of the photo and video.
Grazie!!
Very interesting. I’m pleased there was English translation.
As my Italian isn’t so good, I’m learning.
My questions were not used, that’s fine,
Everyone who did have there opportunity gave really good questions.
They are great guys and very humble.
Bless them.
Thank you for putting this post on.
Best wishes
Fenella
Yes, Luz, every interview, every answer demonstrates the maturity, patience, politeness, and affection that surrounds these three men.
It’s not easy to remain united as they continue their journey. Their personalities have clearly developed and their interpretations are extremely different, but the basic respect remains, and this allows them to overcome any friction and continue their journey successfully.
Well done Fenella, keep practicing your Italian, maybe when you see our guys you’ll be able to say a few words to them.
Thanks Daniela.
Yes I have basic but it isn’t with the grammar so many different meanings and pronunciation.
But I will keep going.
And hopefully when I see them in concert and maybe meet and greet I can say something.🙏
Looking forward to more posts.
Take care
Fenella ❤️
Thank You. (Subtitles/translation is a great advantage for those of us, who know only one language) Barb W
Thanks Barb, I knew you would like it.
Herzlichen Dank für dss Video von IL Volo En Clase. Ich konnte die deutschen Untertitel aktivieren.
Daniele, who is Il Volo En Clase?
Dear Sheila, Il Volo En Clase is a Facebook page, a YouTube page, and a blog. The administrator is Carmen, a dear friend of mine who lives in Spain. She’s a fan of Il Volo and first saw them on television in 2015 for the Eurovision Song Contest.
She’s an art teacher, so she often uses her page to connect Il Volo with the art they inevitably promote (their concerts are often in art venues), so she also teaches a kind of class (hence the name). She only saw Il Volo in concert last year.

58Daniela, thank you for the information on your friend in Spain! How wonderful and I will follow her too! I spend a large portion of my day reading and listening to the guys on You Tube, lflightcrew etc. My one comment is for those fans paying for Meet and Greets is they are highly over rated. I was told by one of the people running the M & G they are not run by the theatre, it is a separate group entirely! I was fortunate I was first in line however I felt ripped off as I had paid big bucks. However I did have Gian’s arm around me for 10 seconds! Won’t pay for it again!
Sheila, my first M&G in Chicago in 2016 was pretty good, but still rushed a bit. My second M&G last March in Fort Lauderdale was not as good. VERY rushed in a very cramped room and expensive! Even the price of tickets close to the stage in these venues are pricing people out of going at all. It is so, so sad. 😥
.
Great Ina, I’m glad you were able to turn on the German subtitles.
One issue I thought was Gianluca needs to learn to relax! He fidgeted all through the interview! Whether it was dust his shoes, fix the sleeve on his jacket, don’t think ever stopped twisted his hands and fingers, straighten his ring (could be its new and he is getting used to it?).
Don’t think I am criticizing him as I love him more today than yesterday, I just worry he needs to R E L A X!!!
He is so well spoken, knowledgeable and intelligent! Even the way he dressed for this event says he knows what’s expected of him! Ignacio looked tired and distant! Poor Piero he gets lost in the group! Love them all, however I respect who they are and where they are from and together they make the Hell of a wonderful Italian team!
Long live Il Volo ❤️❤️🔥🎤🎶❤️🔥❤️
Was du geschrieben hast, spiegelt sie perfekt wider:
„Ich kenne keine andere Band, deren Mitglieder so kultiviert, bescheiden, sozial engagiert, weltkritisch und gleichzeitig so tolerant und menschlich sind. Sie sind wirklich ein großartiges Vorbild, nicht nur für junge Menschen, sondern auch für ältere.“
Dear Margit, it’s true we didn’t discover anything new in the interview, but once again we were able to witness the extreme sincerity of these three guys, both in their answers and their manner. I liked it when Gianluca, who is always very philosophical, answered a question in a silly way, and when Ignazio rebuked him, Gianluca replied that sometimes you have to lighten things up.
What you wrote truly reflects them:
“I don’t know of any other band whose members are so cultured, modest, socially engaged, critical of the world, and at the same time tolerant and humane. They are truly a great role model, not just for young people, but also for the elderly.”
Thank you!!
These guys are truly special.
We are so lucky to have them in our lives👍💕
I agree Karen but I also think they are lucky to have fans like us.
Thanks so very much Daniela/Pat for finding and sharing the link to the newspaper interview based on fan-questions. Took me a bit to figure out how to find the English subtitles – I am horrible with IT technique – but I managed. Did have to run it a couple of times though as those guys speak very fast not enabling me to read the entire translations at the same time – but I got it in the end.
As to the content – what can I say… – of course disappointed that my question wasn’t chosen, but what can one expect with more than 100 questions forwarded to the newspaper. I found the entire program a bit rushed not allowing the guys to give their answers a second thought – but, as usual, all three of them were accommodating to all the questions and replied honest and openly to them all. I applaud them for that. In the principle no news or surprises were revealed but it is always a pleasure to hear them talk about their lives, thoughts and reflections. Their individual personalities are more and more visible and it is rather obvious that values and priorities have changed for Ignazio now being a father and married man – understandable, of course. Piero is stable as a rock and focused on everything he does in life while Gianluca has become a very knowledgeable man flying a bit high at tines influenced by his philosophic studies and own reflections. He is a deep thinker – and also a very sensitive man. As it has been noted by others – and I have witnessed the last half year or longer – he seems restless with many nervous antics not being able to sit still for just a single minute. I doubt very much that he is nervous in the sense of nervous for doing the interview – in the contrary – he is an extrovert person enjoying being in the spotlight and so pro as to public situations plus extremely well formulated and spoken. So I have no clue as to why…. Anyhow, he replied very well to all questions put to him, so I hope he’ll soon overcome whatever may bug him.
Hopefully, the guys will now have a month of peace and quiet in order to prepare for their upcoming new World Tour. Warmest regards – Kirsten
You’re welcome, Kirsten. 😊 I thought Gianluca did fidget a lot and talked the most. Piero sure looked like he had something to say when the subject of AI came up. I would have liked to hear his thoughts on it. It must be difficult to take turns speaking when there are three of them. I applaud them for their cooperation.
Kirsten – you speak very elegantly about our beloved trio – ‘touche” to all you say.
Kirsten, I wish they’d read many more questions because I think so many were interesting. It’s a shame, but I think the journalists appreciated the number of questions they received.
I also applaud the honesty and politeness of our guys; they really know how to keep things under control.
I think the three of them are relaxing, even though they’ve already had a TV commitment that I hope we’ll see soon on the show “C’è Posta Per Te.”
Thanks for this, Daniela and Pat–very interesting, as always.
But I’d like to bring up something that Daniela mentioned recently, and that’s the Olympics–in Italy! We know now that Bocelli is going to perform in the opening ceremony, and I can understand it, given his international reputation.
However, our guys also have quite an international reputation, plus they seem to me to be a more fitting choice, given their youth and interest and ability in sports.
Well, I can only hope something will still happen–perhaps the closing ceremony??
Your welcome, Judi! 😊 Wouldn’t that be wonderful if the guys could participate in the Olympics? 😁
I have a theory 😉 Last time the Olympics were in Italy, Pavarotti was the star of the opening ceremony and Bocelli performed at the closing ceremony (such a beautiful song Ama, credi e vai / Because we believe) and now he’ll sing at the opening ceremony. So…. 😉
Crossing my fingers.
Let’s hope so, Klara, we’d all be very excited, fingers crossed!!
I agree Judi, Bocelli is an international presence but our guys are no less, they deserved a performance, but know that when Bocelli is there it is unlikely that Il Volo will be there, let’s hope at least in the closing ceremony, who knows, fingers crossed.
Daniela, I wonder what would happen if all the fan clubs did a blitz–trouble is we don’t know who makes this decision and also it’s possibly too late. But it does p### me off (sorry) since the guys are constantly promoting Italian culture–plus they are very giving of their time and talent for charity and Italy-related causes.
I agree with you Judi wholeheartedly. I’ve been hoping the guys would be a part of the ceremonies at some point, perhaps one of the ice skaters will perform to an IL Volo song!
They will! In the pairs category Rebecca Ghilardi/Filippo Ambrosini perform their short program to Volare by Il Volo and Fedir Kulish from Latvia – if he advances to the free program – will skate to L’immensita by Il Volo.
And in case Ghilardi/Ambrosini will be invited to the gala, they skate to Capolavoro. I think they really really like Il Volo, because in the past they also skated to Grande Amore 🙂
True, Klara, they will be there for the skaters’ performances, but their presence at the ceremonies would be something truly memorable.
Hi Mark, it’s been a while since I’ve seen your comment, but I know you’re always following us.
I was also really hoping for their performance at the Olympic ceremonies, but for now, all we know is Bocelli and Pausini. I’m honestly still hoping for a surprise.
Klara, you obviously love figure skating like I do, but you know a lot more about the European skaters. Although I have seen Ghilardi/Ambrosini skating to Capolavoro–excellent! Thanks for all the info. But I’m still hoping the guys will be featured somehow.
I raised my daughter in a figure skating club and just the same with my granddaughter! She still skates Synchro so still on the rink life, but I watch her on direct feed, don’t go to the rink anymore! It is my wish to see a program done to music sung by il Volvo. I have seen a men’s single program to Hallelujah, however normally the pairs and ice dancers are the best bet for music by our guys.
Personally I’m certain the guys will sing wherever Bocelli doesn’t ! It would be a catastrophe if they didnt!
When their World Tour was posted. I immediately looked for February and saw it was clear! Hope reins eternal ❤️
Sheila – some years back a Japanese guy skateed to IL VOLO – the tune Stellata Notte aka The Swan – at an Olympic game. Verry beautiful. It is still available on YouTube:
Thanks Kirsten, I appreciate that!
I’m lucky if I have the time to look at you tube daily for current info, but I will search for it in the days to come!
Hope you are doing well – love to read your comments!
My hope to see the guys in Canada but hopes are fading! Political reasons I don’t even buy USA products or cross the border! So I won’t be going there’l.
Pitterpat0 I still read your posts❤️🥰
Best wishes to everyone!
Thank you for all the information. It’s nice to read everyone else’s take on this interview.
Indeed Gianluca talked the most during this interview and fidgeted a lot. He was so enthused about sharing his thoughts. He had so much to say and showed how much intelligence and knowledge/interests he has outside of just music. This was a far cry from concerts where it’s usually Ignazio and Piero who talks the most with Gianluca interjecting infrequently and once in a long while.
Ignazio did look tired but was very down to earth in his responses and mostly focused on his life as a husband and father. Piero did respond well.
It’s true, Annie, Gianluca doesn’t speak much at concerts; he prefers to let the Piero-Ignazio duo do the talking, but he often chimes in during interviews, always with insightful and appropriate comments.
I see Ignazio very much in dad mode; he doesn’t shy away from his interview duties, but I think he could do without them in his heart.
How do I turn on translation?
Deb, at the bottom right corner of the video window there are some icons. Click on the “CC” (closed caption) icon and then click on the gear symbol to the right of that which takes you to a subtitles screen. There you click to the right of Subtitles/CC which usually says Off and click on it to turn it on. Then you will need to scroll down to find English and choose it. That should do it!
Fantastic video of skater to Il volo singing . Thank you for sharing.
I don’t think Ignazio likes interviews.
He picks on Gianluca alot…kind of mean.
But Gianluca and Piero always answer very nicely and respectfully.
Touche’!! – not nice – it looks to me Ignazio is a little jealous of Gianluca –
It’s true, but I remind you that even if you scold someone it doesn’t mean you don’t love that person.
Have no doubts about their brotherly affection.
In any family or group, there could always be love/hate/jealousy. This is another admirable facet of Gianluca’s character. He understood and learned to navigate the obvious camaraderie between the two Sicilians and his position with them. He has remained calm and unaffected with all the constant ribbings. (I think sometimes he enjoys it too.) His star never dimmed. They’ve been together all these years making good music and every fan happy. That’s the product of understanding, love and respect for each other.
Can I just say that I think that the ragazzi love each other like brothers and Ignazio just plays and jokes.
I don’t believe there is any problems.
I’m sure they disagree about things but what family and friends don’t.
Sorry that is my opinion.
I think they are amazing and adore all 3.
Even though my favourite is Piero.
Best wishes
Fenella big fan🦋❤️
Thank you for the interview and also the translation. Love them. And so handsome
