  1. I’m smiling because of the top ten voting. Woo hoo!

And because Gianluca Tweeted, “Our problem is that we think more about what happened and what will happen, when what matters is what is happening.” This young man in an old soul astounds me! Being simply present to the now… this is the crux of my professional training and the wisdom of the ages!

And if that weren’t enough, the guy can sing! Magic, majesty, mystery! Ya got it all, Gianluca!

Besos! (“Unexpected kisses are the best.”)

  2. I’m smiling because Rafa Nadal (my other love 😉 ) is finishing Number 1 in the world this tennis season after a 7 month forced medical absence! I know it might not seem like a lot, but Men’s Tennis is very competitive, and come backs after any length of time a very hard for them. But he’s played like a boss and is back on top! 🙂

  3. I’m smiling because we’re all here together because we love “The Boys”
I’m also smiling because of the friends I’ve made here! 🙂

  4. Ladies–I have discovered that you can vote again on the toptenlists if you use a different device. I voted again this morning for ilvolosupporters, top tenor, top baritone, most adorable guy, hottest boy band member. If you haven’t voted in all those categories, go back and look at them! Our guys are either in the top five, or near the top, with a couple of them on the top of their categories. I won’t spoil the surprise–go look!

    1. Saw that thanks Penina. Voted for everything and added them to a few more categories! Of course I knew who #1 “most adorable guy of all time” was!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Yeah (you’ll have to pretend you see me clap my hands)!
I’m smiling because This site gets more recognition everyday. From the most important people. You!

    Also still smiling for dimples.

  6. I’m smiling because of this amazing place we come to and share with such wonderful people. I’m smiling because Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio have changed our lives for the better and continue to change others every day they are on the planet! Bless them, their families, their team and bless all who enter here. Thank you so much!

  7. I’m smiling because I feel comfortable on this site, and can express my love for Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca . It would be very hard if I had to keep it bottled up just because my family doesn’t get it. But right now my ears are ringing from listening to videos from Latin and South America! Couldn’t hear much of our Boys singing, just a lot of screaming young girls. Of course Our Boys are young, and they probably lap it up, but I can’t help wondering what the grandmas, like me, thought of it.. Surely in these countries there are older fans as well as the younger ones?!

  8. I’m smiling because I’m so happy to start commenting again! Have had a little problem signing on, but I think it’s okay now.
I’m also smiling for many more reasons! First, Marie, your poem is magnificent! I’m beginning to run out of superlatives to express my admiration for your marvelous talent! You make me weep and smile at almost the same time.
AND I am so thrilled that our blog is doing so well in the contest and Our Boys, too! Life is sweet!!!

    Never stop writing!!!

  9. The last line of the above comment was meant to be in the paragraph about Marie. Sorry!

  10. Because of young conductor Gustavo Dudamel: “I’m just a musician,” he told euronews. “I feel strongly committed to music and the power it has to change people’s lives.”

    1. Oh my gosh mlla, he seems so young for such a reputation. I listened to a few of his pieces. What he must hear in his head to do that! Amazing! Thanks for sharing this. Why/how do you know so much about music?

      1. Marie, Thnks, glad u liked it, have you heard him conducting Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana ? But I don’ think I know that much, I just like Music & there’s a lot to explore, furthermore so many songs have been inspired by classical pieces. May be u know that song Stranger in Paradise was from a classical piece named Prince Igor from composer Borodin, Dudamel conducting it so you can watch it on you tube as well, if you feel like. But I like all kind of music, it runs in the family.

        cheers.

      2. Wow, wow, wow, mlla!
Cavalleria Rusticana (intermezzo) by Gustavo Dudamel & GSO
Magnifico! His loving and approving facial expressions, his floating, dancing arms and baton, his big heart energy throughout, and such happy satisfaction at the end!

I would LOVE to see Gustavo Dudamel conduct orchestra for one of Our Boys’ big performances, like maybe Carnegie Hall in 2014, or something like that! Putting that on my “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if…” list! (; >)

I felt like I was watching ballet!

  11. What is list to vote for boys?. Don’t know about this. Can someone enlighten me ..so I can smile too.

  12. Teresa go to the post (article) below this one called “Don’t Miss This”. It will tell you briefly what it’s about and has a link to the voting spot.

  13. Hooray! It looks like I’m back on.. Okay. Now I’m smiling because I’m back on this wonderful site where I can share my love of Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca with all of you..

  14. I’m smiling because I just went to The toptens voting site & Piero Barone is #1 on the list of the top 10 greatest male tenors!!!! That’s where he belongs. And Ignazio should be right up there with him.

  15. I’m smiling because I discovered when I listen to IL VOLO on Pandora, I find other songs that feed my soul, even if not as much as my beloved IL VOLO.

    Here’s a couple sweet ones.
Every Time I Look At You by IL Divo (I still feel they over power near the end)
Cuando me enamoro by Andrea Bocelli (Bocelli’s Amore album; I could hear and see Gianluca headlining this one with his IL VOLO brothers filling in harmony! Gianluca has that “silk” thing goin’ on even more than Bocelli !)

Loved the quote from Gustavo Dudamel. Right on! Looking forward to watching that video next!
mlla, you contribute so much to my life and to this list with your love and knowledge of music! Thank you!!

Feeling the glow of beautiful music,
    ~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway

    1. JDB, It’s not me, is the music
The boys with Maestro Dudamel and orchestra would be such an amount of energy on one stage.. and he loves Sinatra and many more watch this

      1. mlla…
Yes! I am wishing this for Our Boys, for Dudamel, for the world!
Put them together on one stage!! He’s conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic now, so the connection is all the easier. Loved the video and others that I’ve watched of Dudamel.

A quotation on my Reflections Page…
“Don’t ask what the world needs; Ask what makes you come alive and go do it, because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” by Howard Thurman
Now we’re talking! This is Gianluca, Ignazio, Piero, Gatica, Dudamel!

And… a friend just sent me a link to this 9-year-old girl singing. Enjoy!
        Holland’s Got Talent 2013 – Amira Willighagen (9)

Wishing each of us to come alive with our personal passion,
        ~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway

  16. I’m smiling because I just watched this video in the Boys’ villages with their families (including grandpas!) and their manager.
Wish I caught more than a few Italian words!
Il Volo: un sueño que se hace realidad. Entrevista con Lucci – Italia

Hmmm… Do you suppose this is research for the Disney film? Anyone know?
    ~ Jeanine D.

    1. I’m smiling because I watched it…twice! What is this Disney film you refer to?

  17. Ruth, there has been rumor that Disney was going to do a film on the Boys. We have not had solid confirmation on this. however, we have our fingers crossed

Jeanine, Michele and I were talking. We considered begging mlla for some translation of that video. So, so cute. Wish I was able to catch more to.
About the possible Disney research Jeanine, see “fingers crossed” in above paragraph!

    1. A movie would be too cool! I hope it happens. Keep us informed!

And mlla, if you’re reading this, we so very much appreciate you translating for us. At least very soon the guys will be back here in the US for awhile…and speaking English! 🙂

      1. Yay! Now that is something we can all look forward to–speaking English with Ignazio’s cute accent and wild grammar.

    2. Ruth, Marie, and all,

I still have the Disney bag (fireworks and Tinkerbell’s castle) that was on top of the bag recycling center *right after* I told Mom about the Disney movie possibility. The pretty blue and purple bag is hanging in my garage where I see it every day, part of my “journey basket” of dreams [which may be] coming true for IL VOLO!

In my book, that kind of synchronicity is at the very least a cosmic wink or a high 5 !

How fun for Gianluca, since he wants to act, to be able to “play the part” of himself!

Anticipation (I hear a song in my head! : )
      ~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway

  18. OK, this is too funny. 3 is my number for God, and the comment number for my last post is 9433.

I’m thinkin’ the odds for a Disney connection are really good!
    ~ Jeanine D.

  19. You can read the Disney article if you go to our affiliate, Team IL VOLO, and search for “Disney”.

    (; >) Jeanine D.

  20. I’m smiling because I found a picture of the tattoo Ignazio got on his right calf…ever since I saw the pic of him getting it, I wondered what it was. It’s red and black, a simple Celtic knot back- round with a claddagh design in front. The claddagh, if you don’t know, is hands holding a heart and the heart is topped with a crown. It’s a well-known Celtic symbol, and stands for friendship, love, and loyalty. (Since I’m one-fourth Irish, I absolutely LOVE that he chose this design!)

Thanks for the heads- up on the Disney movie article. I’d be first in line at the theater if it comes to be!
