My niece traveled around Italia last summer. This postcard identifies gorgeous scenery around Roseto Degli Abruzzi, which we all know is near the Montepagano home of Il Volo’s Gianluca Ginoble. Our MN, also known as mlla, made the following comments about Abruzzo and has even provided links for your viewing pleasure. Michele
Per MN, “For Abruzzo let me give two hints right now. Famous composer, Francesco Paolo Tosti, born in Ortona, Abruzzo in 1846. Among his many compostions is Marechiare, a famous Neapolitan song you may know of. Here by tenor Giuseppe di Stefano, born in 1921 in Catania Sicily. Abruzzo and Sicily appear to be a winning team…
and “L’alba separa dalla luce l’ombra” – this one with words by famous Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, born in Pescara, Abruzzo in 1863. On you tube you can find many versions. This one below is by Caruso, born 1873 in Naples. I like Jussi Bjorling’s version as well.”

Mlla just caught up with your post of September 19th I think it was of your posting of Caruso & de Stefano singing. In my opinion our guys sound every bit as good as they do if not better. Pictures of Italy were stupendous. Thanks for the good wishes but hopefully at the beginning of the year of not sooner. I don’t want anything stopping me from seeing a concert next year.
Thanks for this lovely post. Italy has produced many great singers and gave all of us hours of listening joy. I wish the boys would sing more Neapolitan songs. They would be great singing “Maria, Mari”.

Wondering what the guys are recording, I still refer to Abruzzo…. Perhaps many of you know the Neapolitan song A Vucchella, this again was composed by the two Abruzzesi, F.Tosti with lyrics by poet G. D’Annunzio.
