Hold on to Your Dream ~ Kitty

This poem is by an unknown author, but when I read it, I thought to myself that either the person that wrote it had to know Il Volo, or that the guys themselves had to have written it, because it was just so perfectly right on. ~Kitty

Hold on to Your Dreams

a - very youngThere’s a voice that calls to some of us,
from somewhere deep inside,
A voice that will not give us peace,
until at least we’ve tried,
To catch that bright elusive star,
though foolish it may seem,
to those not driven as we are, to hold on to a dream.

It’s not just thoughts of fame and wealth,
that keeps us hanging on,
when others would have given up, when all but hope is gone.
When sometimes even hope grows dim,
and casts it’s faintest beam,
we wonder if it’s worth it all, to hold on to a dream.

And then that voice inside of us,
that others cannot know,
tells us that our chance will come,
that we must not let go.
If we can only persevere, someday our star will gleam,
and they’ll know why we had to try,
TO HOLD ON TO OUR DREAM!

Thanks Kitty…perfect! ~M

  1. Beautiful poem, that really describes the dream which has become a reality and the boys really live it, as if it was written for them, about them, by them ! 🙂 Thanks for sharing ! 🙂
Stevie Wonder sing song Hold On To Your Dream,I like the words of this song. 🙂
In life we have our pains and sorrows
Face mountains we think we can’t climb
    Nothing can there’s always tomorrow
You feel like giving up, you say you’re out of luck
But then you hear a voice in your mind
    Telling you to
    Hold on to your dream
    Cause they’re always worth having
    Hold on to your dream
Like a father to his son
Don’t let anyone ever steal your joy from you
    Hold on to your dream
’till the day that life is said and done
This world is filled peaks and valleys
With rivers we think we can’t cross
    To busy keeping sorrows telling
You say you’re at you’re in
    You say you never win
But then a light comes on in your mind
    Till you
    Hold on to your dream
    Cause they’re always worth having
    Hold on to your dream
Like a father to his son
Don’t let anyone ever steal your joy from you
    Hold on to your dream
Until the day that life is said and done
If you wanna hold on to something
You better hold on to your dreams
If you want to hold on to something
You’ve gotta hold to your love
    To your love
So if they try to burst your bubble
It’s cons they haven’t done ’em all
And when you feel you are in trouble
Hold your head up high and feel your heart inside
And know that you are never alone
    Just as long as you
    Hold on to your dream
    Cause they’re always worth having
    Hold on to your dream
Like a father to his son
Don’t let anyone ever steal your joy from you
    Hold on to your dream
’till the day that life is said and done
    Hold on to your dream
    Cause they’re always worth having
    Hold on to your dream
Like a mother to her child
Don’t let anyone ever steal your dreams from you
    Hold on to your dream
And do your best to always wear a smile
Hold on to your dream. 🙂

    1. I think they knew when they adopted the name “Il Volo”. They knew that they would fly so high that they would “touch the face of God”. (With Thanks to John Gillespie Magee, Jr., “High Flight”.)

  2. Thank you Kelly. The poem is beautiful and definitely makes one think of Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio! Love the photos you chose to go along with it.

  3. What a beautiful poem!!! Thank you so much, Kitty & Marie. Certainly has Il Volo’s dreams, perseverance, & strengths joining it’s lovely prose together. Love that you shared it now, as the Italy Concerts continue to delight the devoted audiences!!!
