SMILE!

It is with sadness that we announce officially the last 2 concerts being cancelled.  But we also know the guys would have sung for us if they could, but they needed to get home.  I’m sure we will all meet again, hopefully soon – but another time and place.  I am also saddened that I am not able to meet all of you (old friends and new!) who were planning on being in Vegas and those I missed in Verona.   I think it is fitting to post this video of SMILE, along with the words.  I’m sure this is in the hearts of all of Il Volo, management, crew, and fans!

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

I know many of us are trying to smile through our tears (myself included), it is not easy, but hopefully there will be a next time for all of us to meet again.  In the words of an old Irish blessing… (St. Patrick’s Day is next week….)

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, until we meet again. May God hold you in the palm of his hand. And until we meet again, until we meet again.

I think this almost says it all…. ciao amici!  🙂

  1. Nicely done Jana! I am sorry so many are disappointed including Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca. God bless and take care.

  2. Jana I think you covered everything and in the best possible way. I wish for all of us love, health and happiness. Especially to the boys and new found friends. Until we meet again, ciao!

  3. Daniela, Keep safe and healthy. We are praying for you and all Italians. I’m glad the boys will be home. I’m sure they will be safe. Love and many hugs, Victoria

  4. Thankyou, they are so dedicated to their fans, but at this time of crisis in the world they need to be with their families prays to them and all of ll Volo we are all going through this all over the world and need to take notice of authorities.

  5. Jana, you chose the perfect Irish proverb; we will all arise above this. It will take time and much patience. Many of us have been depressed but Gialuca’s rendition of “Smile” will help us sustain. We must have courage.

We will miss the Il Volo concerts, however, next year we will all be together again.

    God bless everyone,

    Elisa Marie

  6. Beautiful, Jana! Oh my God, those memories of our guys’ early days! Whew! So fitting for our times and for celebrating 10 years.

Prayers for Gian, Ignazio, Piero, their families, and all their compatriots. As well as all beings.

So, you know how they suggest singing the Happy Birthday song 2 times while washing our hands with soap (my acupuncturist said, specifically, grease-cutting soap like dish-washing soap, because the virus has a liposomal layer)? Well, I’ve been singing
Happy planet to us, happy planet to us, happy planet to u-us. Happy planet to us! (with intention for all good healing and health of all people and all creation).

So… anyone want to come up with an Italian version?

    Love to you all!
    Jeanine

P.S. I never got to write in to say I was going to be at Las Vegas, as my dad just passed away, and now we’re getting ready for Mom to go on hospice.

My friend and I are sad to miss seeing you all and an incredible concert and Meet & Greet with the guys, but / and we know this is the right decision and send the greatest of love to all.

    1. Hi Jeanine
The kindergardeners are taught to sing the ABC song while washing their hands, and that’s what I have been doing–alternating with Twinkle Twinkle which is the same tune. I like your version!
Whichever we use, we have to remember to keep the soap on for a longer time than usual.

      1. Thanks, Penina! I love the song Twinkle Twinkle, too!

Now I’ve added to “Happy Planet to Us” the final line to the tune of “and many more”:
        And so it is.

While I’m singing it, I’m seeing rainbows, and tress, rivers, lakes, children laughing, friends smiling, and more.

From my perspective, good energy, happiness, and gratitude accompanying common-sense hand-washing makes it many times more powerful to the AllGood!

And having IL VOLO playing at the same time is icing on the cake!

        All best wishes to you,
        Jeanine

  7. Very good and clever decision to leave US! Good Bless you all and safe journey back to Italy! The world waiting for you! Love and take care!/Agnes

  8. Hi everyone, I’m so sad for all of you that you were ready for these last good concerts.
Many months, for a few years, to wait and then all canceled.
Unfortunately, the situation is very hard, maybe from there, you don’t realize how much.
With us it is FORBIDDEN to leave the house, it is allowed to go shopping for food but even in that case you must have a self-certification. Cities are empty. Hospitals are at the limit of their possibilities. The direct flights to Italy are no longer there and Europe is closing its doors to Italy.
All public gatherings are canceled, even football matches (made without the public) have caused contagion between the teams, which are now in quarantine.
    Contagion is too fast.
All these problems have certainly influenced the decisions of IL VOLO and I, seeing how things are here, I can only tell you (with great regret for you) that they have made the right decision.
It is a very hard time, but we will make it !!

SMILE, more than just Jana, we must always be confident. 🙂

    1. Hi Daniela. I am so glad that you and your family are keeping well even if not free to come and go as you please. My sister-in-law who lives near Parma, has the police patrolling homes in her area to make sure all are well and are not moving .Also, a brother-in-law who lives in Switzerland ,
was unable to attend the funeral of his brother in Italy ,as if he went to Italy he would not be allowed to return to Switzerland.Let us pray that this contagion goes away soon, and everyone can resume their normal lives. Stay safe Daniela and I know the Boys must be happy and thankful to be home.I know they will make up the cancelled concerts when they can, as they have done in times past when concerts were cancelled. Stay strong Italy this too shall pass.

      1. Thanks Marion, the situation is just as you say, really difficult, but if we are in our homes, away from infection, everything is fine.

    2. Yes, Daniela, I am very upset ! ! ! just two more concerts !!! UGH !
But, still, they did make the right decision. Now they need to make it up to us by rescheduling those concerts when ever the conditions permit.

Il Volo missed the USA two years in a row and that is too long to be away from this audience. That is why I am urging a residency in Vegas.

      1. Myron, I thought about you a lot yesterday, I imagined your disappointment.
If they had been in Italy, they would have had to cancel the concert anyway, the fault lies with COVID19.
I hope these concerts can be repeated, it would be really nice if they came back, when everything is over, to redo the lost concerts. Maybe they will.

  9. Please take care all of you, you have made such a wonderful addition to our lives. please take good care of your self’s and families . Our hearts and love and prayer are with you all. Stay as smart and wise as you all are, keep us all posted on your status. The love you all showed your fans is all coming back to you all now. Take care and God be with you all.
Thank you all for everything and may God spead. We will keep you in our prayers
Love Jackie L and Karen B Minnesota VIP’S

  10. I know sadness, but this is not forever. I know this is not popular but prayer is what we need. Also, we have to remember this will pass. Polio, Hong Cong flu many things. SMILE we’ll meet again!!

  11. Was so lucky to see you in LA , I truly love you all❣️ Please be safe. I put you all in a big bubble of God’s White Light. Mental, Physical and Spiritual perfection . No harm can enter in! ❤️❤️❤️

    1. I was sad to hear of the cancellation of the Il Volo concert. We arrived in Vegas this morning and then found out. BUTnot surprised. This virus is doing a lot of damage. My prayers are with Il Volo and all Italy. I sit here at the Palms hotel loaded down with alot of disinfectant hand sanitizer. Can’t wait to get out of here and go home.

  12. I have put in a request that they re-schedule a date with us in Las Vegas.

I have also requested that they plan a Las Vegas Residency with 3 or 4 concerts mixed with free days in between. Such is being done by many artists in town right now.

You guys can help get this on by emailing your request to the fan club or to the management.

WE WANT A LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY FOR IL VOLO.

    1. Thank you, Myron! I was so looking forward to meeting everyone in Las Vegas, but I know their leaving was for the best. A dopo!

    2. Hi, Myron, I’m sure we all appreciate that you’re making your best effort to have an IL VOLO concert in Las Vegas after our planet is recovered and healthy. It certainly would be a treasure to me and my friend who planned to attend.

That said, I am feeling a deep focus on our guys, their families and loved ones, and all of Italy, as well as everyone impacted by this virus in any way and anywhere.

      Today, LOVE RULES THE DAY.
      And with IL VOLO,
      LOVE IS ALWAYS THE WAY!

tigerclamearth77634Kay Roseff, do you have a link for the hospital Ignazio would appreciate donations to? (I’ve been out of the loop with other family health issues, and would appreciate guidance on this.)

      Love and grace to all,
      Jeanine

  13. Thank you again, for updates and sharing of feelings. Jana, this was such a good idea. We Il Volovers are also a family to them and they to us. They have been sharing our kind of family love with us and now with this emergency around the world they must return to their familial loved ones. Impossible to be so far from home and them during this. Prayers and doing our part to stay healthy is now important. Love to you and love to Il Volo and families. I donated to the hospital Ignazio asked for.

  14. After very busy and stresfull days Im ready to cry… hope within few days I start to smile again. 😪😪😪

  15. Thank you Jana for this latest update! I know that the Las Vegas concert was highly anticipated by many!! Fans from around the country were eagerly awaiting this concert with many planning get togethers before the concert to meet new and old friends. I fortunately got to two concerts, Chicago and Tampa!! I like what Myron said that they NEED to return and perhaps do a residency!! To our guys I hope by now that you are home with your families and that you do return to us in due time!! Stay healthy Gianluca, Ignazio, and Piero and to all of your adoring fans here in the USA as well!! ❤️❤️🙏🙏

  16. I’m sure it was a hard decision but I agree, they needed to go home.
Thx for the article, informative as always.
