AD ASTRA – THE LYRICS by Daniela

And as promised here are all the lyrics of AD ASTRA and all the translations.
Let me start by saying that, as you know, I heard them live at Radio Italia and I liked the songs immediately.
Now, calmly, having to translate for you, I have savored the beautiful lyrics and the excellent accompanying music, we are certainly not talking about backing tracks created on computers and with few musical instruments, here we are talking about real orchestrations.
If any of you think that the beautiful voices of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are not valued, you are wrong, the live voices can be heard very well and certainly have a more pop sound, but always highlighting their particularities.
I think that certainly the one who has had to suffer the change the most is Piero, but don’t worry, we will hear his lyrical voice in concerts and solos and then he has yet to realize his dream of singing an entire opera.
I also remind you that Ignazio Piero and Gianluca admitted that three songs were written with the feelings of each of them and so try to guess which songs are. I’ll tell you what I think:
Gianluca = L’INFINITO
Ignazio = SUCCEDE
Piero = OPERA
Since shortly before the album was released, our guys on Tik-Tok released short videos explaining the songs, I thought I’d attach and translate them.
Enjoy, now you can sing along with them too.

PER ASPERA (intro)

PIERO= PER ASPERA opens the album. Somehow it sums up this sonic journey, with this instrumental overture, of this wonderful album, which is entitled AD ASTRA.
GIANLUCA= It’s a contemporary classical symphony that embodies a bit of the meaning of our new album, the great opening of this album in a sonic, emotional journey, which describes our emotions that we have experienced in the last year and half.
IGNAZIO= It was a great musical research, we combined the sound of the orchestra, the strings with electronic music, with slightly more pop, British music, we combined many influences. It’s a very interesting record.

CHIARO DI LUNA

GIANLUCA= CHIARO DI LUNA is a song that celebrates life. It’s a majestic pop beat, very compelling with these overwhelming strings and we can actually say that, thanks to this song we want to describe life and its eternal presence, in a very strong way, which is our message, especially with this of our disk.
PIERO= In some way the text speaks of daily human frailties, but it invites us to reflect on the beauty of life.

Guardo il mare sulla riva
Penso a te, dove sei? Come stai?
Un’onda muore e un’altra arriva
Come te, come me, come noi
E noi, dentro quest’attimo
Siamo pezzi di un miracolo
Per destino o per fortuna
Risplendiamo ancora al chiaro di luna
Persi in mezzo alla corrente
Nelle strade di un’altra città
Tra i ritorni e le partenzе
E noi dentro quest’attimo
Siamo pezzi di un miracolo
Per destino o per fortuna
Risplendiamo ancora al chiaro di luna
Al chiaro di luna lasciarsi illuminare
Al chiaro di luna sentire quanto vale
Restare uniti mentre tutto cade
Sappiamo noi come si fa
E le nuvole si aprono
Per salvarsi, basta un battito
È l’amore che ci cura
L’anima è una piuma
Al chiaro di luna
E noi dentro quest’attimo
Siamo pezzi di un miracolo
Per destino o per fortuna
Risplendiamo ancora al chiaro di luna

MOONLIGHT

I look at the sea on the shore
I think of you, where are you? How are you?
One wave dies and another arrives
Like you, like me, like us
You see, life is strange
That you never know the plot
When you have no more choices
One step away from the end as always
Then the clouds part
And the night is a spectacle
It makes fear disappear
The soul is a feather in the moonlight
And us, inside this moment
We are pieces of a miracle
By fate or by luck
We still shine in the moonlight
Lost in the current
In the streets of another city
Between returns and departures
To look for in people what we lack and don’t need
You see, life is strange
By living you learn it
And when you have no more choices
One step away from the end as always
Then the clouds part
And the night is a spectacle
It makes fear disappear
The soul is a feather in the moonlight
And we are in this moment
We are pieces of a miracle
By fate or by luck
We still shine in the moonlight
In the moonlight let yourself be illuminated
In the moonlight feel what it’s worth
Standing together while everything falls
We know how to do it
And the clouds part
To save yourself, all it takes is a heartbeat
It is love that heals us
The soul is a feather
In the moonlight
And we are in this moment
We are pieces of a miracle
By fate or by luck
We still shine in the moonlight

CAPOLAVORO

E all’improvviso tu, tu
E all’improvviso tu, tu

MASTERPIECE

Me sitting inside a cinema
To dream a little of America and a little of your home
And I always wonder how long it will last
This infinite love that is not infinite
I felt lost, a sail on the open sea
And suddenly you, you
Fall from the sky like a masterpiece
Before you there was nothing good
And as if, you were the only light that made sense
And this life with you is a masterpiece
Look how it’s raining, but it’s wonderful to have you here
Damn time that gives you and then takes you away
I felt lost like a flower in the desert
And suddenly you, you
Fall from the sky like a masterpiece
Before you there was nothing good
And as if, you were the only light that made sense
And this life with you is a masterpiece
Fall from the sky like a masterpiece
Before you there was nothing good
And as if, you were the only light that made sense
And this life with you, yes my life with you
It’s a masterpiece

FRAMMENTI DI UNIVERSO

GIANLUCA= FRAGMENTS OF UNIVERSE is perhaps the song that best represents this metaphysical journey of ours.
We wanted to transcribe our personal, emotional and artistic growth into songs and this song perhaps represents our growth in a much more evident way. It’s a song that put us to the test, it’s a song where we tell what our sensations are, our emotions, but above all that we are “fragments of the universe”.
PIERO= It touches on universal themes, it’s a bit like the search for happiness, and we brought it to music
IGNAZIO= It’s one of the songs that comes closest to Britt-pop, it was a very beautiful experiment…
PIERO= Also vocal.
IGNAZIO= …also vocal for the first time, I can’t wait for you to listen to it.

Scende la notte, tra gli alberi
Brilla la luna, e i pianeti
Appesi, come miracoli sospesi, sospesi
Dentro agli occhi di un bambino
Tra la reti dei cortili
Aspettando la felicità, la felicità
Siamo sogni nel vento, siamo nuvole
Sorrisi che resistono alle lacrime
Potessimo un’ora, da ora
Rubare il mantello agli eroi
Siamo segni nel cielo, siamo fulmine
La strada sotto i fari delle macchine
Qui a chiederci ancora, se ancora
Possiamo fidarci di noi
Frammenti di universo
È forse il canto di un angelo
O è solo pioggia sui vetri
Poi ci sentiamo più fragili e indifesi, indifesi
Come i fiori sui balconi
Gatti sotto i temporali
Se piovesse la felicità, la felicità
Siamo sogni nel vento, siamo nuvole
Sorrisi che resistono alle lacrime
Potessimo un’ora, da ora
Rubare il mantello agli eroi
Siamo segni nel cielo, siamo fulmine
La strada sotto i fari delle macchine
Qui a chiederci ancora, se ancora
Possiamo fidarci di noi
Frammenti di universo
Di silenzi e di cose non dette
Frammenti di universo
Che si giurano amore per sempre
Siamo sogni nel vento, siamo nuvole
Sorrisi che resistono alle lacrime
Potessimo un’ora, da ora
Rubare il mantello agli eroi
Siamo segni nel cielo, siamo fulmine
La strada sotto i fari delle macchine
Qui a chiederci ancora, se ancora
Possiamo fidarci, possiamo fidarci di noi
Frammenti di universo
Frammenti di universo, uoh

FRAGMENTS OF THE UNIVERSE

Night falls among the trees
The moon shines, and the planets
Hanging, like suspended miracles, suspended
Inside the eyes of a child
Among the nets of the courtyards
Waiting for happiness, happiness
We are dreams in the wind, we are clouds
Smiles that resist tears
We could an hour from now
Steal the mantle of heroes
We are signs in the sky, we are lightning
The road under the headlights of the cars
Here to ask ourselves again, if again
We can trust ourselves
Fragments of the universe
It is perhaps the song of an angel
Or is it just rain on the windows
Then we feel more fragile and helpless, defenseless
Like the flowers on the balconies
Cats under thunderstorms
If it rained, happiness, happiness
We are dreams in the wind, we are clouds
Smiles that resist tears
We could an hour from now
Steal the mantle of heroes
We are signs in the sky, we are lightning
The road under the headlights of the cars
Here to ask ourselves again, if again
We can trust ourselves
Fragments of the universe
Of silences and things left unsaid
Fragments of the universe
Who swear love forever
We are dreams in the wind, we are clouds
Smiles that resist tears
We could an hour from now
Steal the mantle of heroes
We are signs in the sky, we are lightning
The road under the headlights of the cars
Here to ask ourselves again, if again
We can trust, we can trust ourselves
Fragments of the universe
Fragments of the universe, uoh

SATURNO E VENERE (feat. Irama)

PIERO= SATURNO E VENERE is among the most pop songs on the album.
It’s a romantic ballad in which Irama’s voice fits perfectly, harmoniously, with our voices.
GIANLUCA= I believe it is an authentic song, because the most beautiful things are born when there is mutual respect, and that is what happened with Filippo – Irama. I believe the key that can open people’s hearts is precisely this contrast between Irama’s cry of suffering and our vocal power.
IGNAZIO= The experience in the studio was very beautiful and interesting. It’s the first time we collaborated in the studio, we wrote in the studio with an artist and doing it with a friend, as Gianluca says, is always more beautiful and therefore we are very…
GIANLUCA= Proud.
IGNAZIO= …very proud and happy with what came out.

Facciamo giri all’infinito
Senza riuscirci a prendere
Io qui e tu dall’altro lato
Come Saturno e Venere
Per me sei come l’universo
Solo un grande immenso punto di domanda
E mentre piove sul cemento io rimango qua
Mi lasci in bilico
E ora, ora, ora, ora
Ho camminato all’infinito
Fino a sentirmi debole
Con una mano sul tuo viso
Soffiando via la cenere
E credi che mi basti un attimo
Per cancellare tutto di te
Fino a gridarlo in faccia a un angelo
Che sono solo
E tu sei come l’universo
Solo un grande immenso punto di domanda
E mentre piove sul cemento io rimango qua
Mi lasci in bilico
Ora, ora, ora, ora
Ora, ora, ora, ora
Sottosopra

SATURN AND VENUS (feat. Irama)

We go around endlessly
Without being able to catch us
Me here and you on the other side
Like Saturn and Venus
Words that had to be held back
Promises a little too big to keep
You see, up until now I’ve tried, with you
To me you are like the universe
Just a big huge question mark
And while it rains on the concrete I stay here
You leave me hanging
And now, now, now, now
Maybe I fall and feel my heart is upside down
And among a billion other people
Only you who take away the sun I need
To start again
I walked forever
Until I feel weak
With a hand on your face
Blowing away the ash
And you think all I need is a moment
To erase everything about you
Until you shout it in the face of an angel
That I’m alone
And you are like the universe
Just a big huge question mark
And while it rains on the concrete I stay here
You leave me hanging
Now, now, now, now
Sorry if I slip and feel my heart upside down
And among a billion other people
Only you who take away the sun I need
To start again
You will forget me
And while you hate me
I will erase you
But I won’t succeed
So little was enough
Now, now, now, now
Upside down
And among a billion other people
Only you who take away the sun I need
To start again

L’INFINITO

IGNAZIO=  L’ INFINITO is an emotional journey, where through music and words, they try to touch, to touch, to show all the nuances that may exist in a relationship, when a person is willing to do everything, even to stay together with another person.
GIANLUCA= I think this is the most intimate song on the album, where in some way we want to show that with our voices we don’t necessarily want to look for virtuosity, but also a certain emotionality and intimacy that perhaps we have never shown in our songs.

Farei qualsiasi cosa, cosa, cosa
Farei qualsiasi cosa, cosa, cosa

THE INFINITY

Our history is a challenge
The day before we say: “I love you”, the day after: “It’s over”
Even dividing the sky from the sea there is always a line
Instead, a few stupid words between us
A phrase said badly, we are all kids
And life is real school
If infinity with you is a narrow road
I would travel the world by bicycle
And when you will be sad, just to hear you laugh
I would do anything, anything, anything
Like kites that defy height
Look like flowers if we then fall to the ground
Shouting songs and losing your voice
And then argue, just to make peace
And excuse my presumption
But there are no other two people like us
Our history is a challenge
So precious and so delicate, a Picasso in pencil
That to ruin it, we just need to run our fingers
But we never give up on testing ourselves
If infinity with you is a narrow road
I would travel the world by bicycle
And when you will be sad, just to hear yourself laugh
I would do anything, anything, anything
Like kites that defy height
Look like flowers if we then fall to the ground
Shouting songs and losing your voice
And then argue just to make peace
And excuse my presumption
But there are no other two people
Who like us know how to laugh and cry
That they’re together and there’s nothing like it
To make you smile I would do anything, anything, anything
Like kites that defy height
Look like flowers if we then fall to the ground
Shouting songs and losing your voice
And then argue just to make peace
Excuse my presumption
But there are no other two people like us

OPERA

PIERO= The protagonists of OPERA are two boys who dodge rain and lightning as if they were two boxers.
There is a lot of energy in this song and in singing it we will also try to convey it live.
GIANLUCA= It’s the song that perhaps absolutely represents pop-lyrical 2.0 on this album.
IGNAZIO= Yes, let’s say, the influence of the title can bring us back to what our career has always been, what we are known for, but listening to it is exactly what you don’t expect.
GIANLUCA= OPERA is the meeting between our past with a look to the future. The orchestra in the foreground, but with a rhythm that can surprise.
We had never used this rhythm in our songs, pounding, almost a very suggestive up-tempo and almost “makes you dance”, and therefore it’s a way to show that pop-lyrical music has no limits from every point of view.

Opera, opera, opera
Opera, opera, opera
Giorni, mesi, anni
E non ti ho mai perso
Sarà che siamo bravi entrambi
A prendere il meglio dal peggio
E a riconoscere ogni volta
Ad occhi chiusi ciò che conta
E a schivare insieme pioggia e fulmini
Come due pugili
E anche se spaventa un po’
Comunque so
A volte brucia, almeno illumina
L’ho trovata e l’ho sentita scorrere
Su di me, su di te
E anche se spaventa un po’
Comunque so
A volte brucia, almeno illumina
Opera, opera, opera
È una follia
È come una poesia, come la musica
Perché la vita è bella come
Opera, opera, opera

OPERA

Opera, opera, opera
Opera, opera, opera
Days, months, years
And I never lost you
Maybe it’s because we’re both good
To make the best of the worst
And to recognize every time
With eyes closed what matters
And to dodge rain and lightning together
Like two boxers
And even if it scares a little
However I know
That life is as beautiful as a opera
An extraordinary song that frees itself
On a simple anonymous day
And for you, for me, even if
Sometimes it burns, at least it illuminates
Before the wind takes us away
It’s like poetry, like music
Because life is as beautiful as
A opera, opera, opera
Opera, opera, opera
It is madness
It’s like poetry, like music
Because life is as beautiful as
I saw her laugh in the face of fear
I’ve seen her survive, even though it’s hard sometimes
In my mother’s wrinkles, in the houses and on the streets
I found it and felt it flow
About me, about you
And even if it scares a little
However I know
That life is as beautiful as a opera
An extraordinary song that frees itself
On a simple anonymous day
And for you, for me, even if
Sometimes it burns, at least it illuminates
Before the wind takes us away
It’s like poetry, like music
Because life is as beautiful as a opera
Because life is as beautiful as a opera
An extraordinary song that frees itself
On a simple anonymous day
Because life is as beautiful as
A opera, opera, opera
Opera , opera, opera
It is madness
It’s like poetry, like music
Because life is as beautiful as
Opera, opera opera.

IL MONDO ALL’INCONTRARIO

IGNAZIO= IL MONDO ALL’INCONTRARIO is one of those songs that idealize a perfect world, an ideal world for everyone.
PIERO= In some way the text is a text of hope, especially in a historical period like the one we are experiencing now.
We try to give a positive look to the future, we have tried to describe it with the text of IL MONDO ALL’INCONTRARIO, hoping that it can be a good omen for an ever better future.
GIANLUCA= It’s an overturned world where we are invited to look beyond conventions, somehow we find the stars under our feet.
There is also a poetic inspiration in all this, which wants to send an important message.

Trattieni il respiro
In piedi su un filo
Il mondo è impazzito
E noi dobbiamo correre per non cadere
Ci vuole equilibrio
Sarebbe straordinario
Un mondo all’incontrario
Dove noi, dove noi parliamo
E le stelle le calpestiamo
Sarebbe straordinario
Gridare in uno stadio
Dove noi, dove noi vinciamo
La felicità, la felicità
Trattieni il respiro
Tempesta in arrivo
Sarebbe straordinario
Un mondo all’incontrario
Dove noi, dove noi parliamo
E le stelle le calpestiamo
Sarebbe straordinario
Gridare in uno stadio
Dove noi, dove noi vinciamo
Un mondo all’incontrario
Sarebbe straordinario
Gridare in uno stadio
Dove noi, dove noi vinciamo
La felicità, la felicità

THE WORLD IN CONTRARY

Hold your breath
Standing on a wire
The world has gone crazy
And we have to run so as not to fall
It takes balance
Darkness is bad
In the sun it goes around
Joy and sadness are alternating phases
Imagine if we could change the shadows of destiny
Remove the shells from the bottom
And  to drown injustices
That would be extraordinary
A world in reverse
Where we, where we speak
And we trample the stars
That would be extraordinary
Shouting in a stadium
Where we, where we win
Happiness, happiness
Hold your breath
Storm in arrive
If you ask a child
War is a game that always loses
Can you imagine that we could change the shadows of destiny
Open windows in rooms
Let the sky and hopes in
That would be extraordinary
A world in reverse
Where we, where we speak
And we trample the stars
That would be extraordinary
Shouting in a stadium
Where we, where we win
And can you imagine if we had two wings
Fly over the sea like airplanes
To understand from afar if there is a plan
For all these human beings
Can you imagine the tears disappearing
And we could only laugh
And we forgive every mistake
A world in reverse
That would be extraordinary
Shouting in a stadium
Where we, where we win
Happiness, happiness

SUCCEDE

IGNAZIO= Surely if we have to think about the elegance and delicacy of this album, SUCCEDE is one of those songs.
It’s a song that talks about love, one of those slow loves that you don’t notice and come suddenly.
GIANLUCA= Yes, it is a poem set to music that has great emotion and as the text says at the end, “love cannot be seen, but it happens”, so when it happens suddenly, without ever looking for it, it is even more beautiful.
PIERO= So you can safely dedicate it to the person you love.
IGNAZIO= When you see Michelangelo’s name (producer) on SUCCEDE you think: “Oh God what is this?”
PIERO= More than anything else the name of Michelangelo is associated with Il Volo (Michelangelo is an Italian producer who deals with very different music from that of Il Volo).
IGNAZIO= It was a beautiful experiment and we were surprised, because Michelangelo did a great job when the prod arrived and we were shocked.
GIANLUCA= He managed to sculpt in marble….
PIERO= (he sings a verse from a song by Michelangelo)
IGNAZIO= We recorded this in the studio so that Michelangelo had it, like he does with rappers.
PIERO= And I did it for him in a symphonic version!

Succede
Io non lo so
Dove ci porterà il cammino
Perché non ho
Un buon rapporto col destino
Ma tra le cose inaspettate
Come una pioggia in piena estate arrivi tu
Succede
E so che ti vedrò tornare
Succede
HAPPENS
I do not know
How to overcome fear
I’ll get lost
On a moonless night
Skin full of wounds
But those who smile live better
It happens to me with you
I do not know
What awaits me tomorrow
And I’m shaking a little
Like tulips in the wind
But then you arrive slowly
An earthquake, a hurricane
Like drops on stones
Because you can’t see love, yes, though
Happens
The fact that there is only the storm at the end does the same
And this house you know will always remain a place
Where you can return
Where I can return
Because you can’t see love, yes, though
Happens
I do not know
Where the journey will take us
Because I haven’t
A good relationship with destiny
But among the unexpected things
Like a rain in the middle of summer you arrive
Happens
The fact that there is only the storm at the end does the same
And this house you know will always remain a place
Where you can return
Where I can return
Because you can’t see love, yes, though
Happens
Everything is fine if we are together
Nothing, there is nothing that can really hurt us
And, I swear, you’ll see me come back
And I know I’ll see you come back
Because you can’t see love, yes, though
Happens

WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER

AD ASTRA (outro)

(I couldn’t find the video of the guys explaining AD ASTRA (outro), so I’m attaching this review made by the newspaper NewSic.)
AD ASTRA (outro)  is a rebellious song, devoid of rules and conventions. More than just a song, it is an experience that challenges the boundaries of music to become a modern work of art. A progressive suite that constitutes the outro of the album, but which at the same time suggests that it is not the end, but rather a new beginning. The perfect embodiment of the idea that creativity is born from contrast, just as the very structure of the album suggests, which invites you to reach for the stars despite the difficulties encountered along the way: per aspera ad astra just a handful of stars in your pocket.

Quanti passi fai
Proprio come me
Senza darti mai
Risposte all’invisibile
Risposte all’invisibile
Quanti passi fai
Proprio come mе
Senza darti mai
Risposte all’invisibile
Senza darti mai
Risposte all’invisibile
Risposte all’invisibile
Come bambini fanno domande
Messe da parte, autocondanne
Tutto si, tutto si, tutto si scioglie
Le nostre colpe qualcuno perdonerà
Per aspera ad astra
Solo un pugno di stelle in tasca
Per aspera ad astra
Un salto, io e te
Per aspera ad astra
Solo un pugno di stelle in tasca
Per aspera ad astra
Il dubbio e la risposta
Per aspera ad astra
Solo un pugno di stelle in tasca
Per aspera ad astra
Un salto, io e te
Per aspera ad astra
Solo un pugno di stelle in tasca
Per aspera ad astra
Il dubbio e la risposta
Il dubbio e la risposta
Per aspera ad astra

TO ASTRA (outro)

How many steps do you take
Just like me
Without ever giving you
Responses to the invisible
Responses to the invisible
We have something in common, can’t you see?
We are millions of atoms and desires
We strike like lightning at sunset
And who knows why we came into the world
The drops like blades on the skin
The rain, however, will never extinguish the stars
Show me all the cuts, the weaknesses
I know that, deep down, they are the same
Mine, yours, his, with the same fears
Nobody knows the way
How many steps do you take
Just like me
Without ever giving you
Responses to the invisible
Without ever giving you
Responses to the invisible
Responses to the invisible
You keep calculating and aiming
Life is everything you don’t think about first
A surprise, finding yourself halfway without a plan
After all, people like us never have peace
They touch the shadow before the light
Like children they ask questions
Set aside, self-condemnation
Everything yes, everything yes, everything melts
Our sins someone will forgive
Per aspera ad astra
Just a handful of stars in your pocket
Per aspera ad astra
A leap, you and me
Per aspera ad astra
Just a handful of stars in your pocket
Per aspera ad astra
The doubt and the answer
Per aspera ad astra
Just a handful of stars in your pocket
Per aspera ad astra
A leap, you and me
Per aspera ad astra
Just a handful of stars in your pocket
Per aspera ad astra
The doubt and the answer
The doubt and the answer
Per aspera ad astra

How sweet is this short video that contains the moments with the authors, during the composition phases, thanks Gianluca!
Your words that accompany it are also beautiful. ❤️
Ad Astra is the journey of all of us.
Not only the result of talent, tenacity and passion, but the courageous story of those who choose to descend into the depths of the soul.
Ad Astra wants to be the testimony of our history and that of all those who find in music a language to discover themselves and express the hidden part of themselves.
“Can’t you see something we have in common? Show me all your cuts and weaknesses because I know that deep down they are the same, mine, yours, with the same fears, no one knows the way…”
I hope that Ad Astra today can mean for you what is a symbol and victory for us: a harmony that can guide you towards new horizons.
Thanks to you who made all this possible. I love you.
And this is the exact moment of the launch of the CD, midnight on March 28th, after singing on Radio Italia, the boys had dinner together with all the authors and producers, waiting for midnight to celebrate the release of AD ASTRA. How nice to see the camaraderie between our guys and their writers and producers!!

🥰🥰🎉🎉🍾🍾🥂🥂💫💫✨❤️❤️❤️

And now, after this long post, you know the meanings of the various songs. In my opinion they made a beautiful product both in terms of lyrics and orchestration. I want to hear your opinions, whether positive or negative, because it is not possible to please everyone. Write me your favorite song and the one you don’t like and tell me which songs you pair our favorites with. But I want you to be sure of one thing, that Il Volo from before has not been cancelled, it is always there waiting for us at the events where, as always, Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero will give their best, for us fans who adore them.
Daniela 🤗

Who wants to live forever, obwohl die Stimmen der Drei

Thanks to you In Un, now you will better understand the meaning of the lyrics

Eveline, I’m so glad you changed your mind about the songs. In fact they are different songs from what we are used to, but no less beautiful. I like your list and in the end we will see which song had the most preferences.
I’m sure that in Verona they will include many of the new songs.

      1. Thank you, thank you, for taking the incredible time to provide IL Volo fans with the English lyrics to this beautiful album. Thanks again, Pat Findlay

P S. Can’t wait to them in Hard Rock, Atlantic City.

      2. Pat, I’m happy that you liked the translations of the songs, Il Volo did an excellent job. I’m glad you’re going to Atlantic City!

  2. Obrigada!

Margarida, I have to say that I still don’t have an absolute favourite, I like them all and every time I choose one and the next time it’s another.
We will certainly sing many new songs together in Verona, now you have the lyrics to learn them.

  3. This CD is so beautiful! I don’t know how to be more emotional than that because I don’t want to sound fake but it seems so much more them!! I have loved their music since the beginning but this is an amazing addition to their repertoire. So far I love all the songs but maybe Succede a bit more. Thank you for this it was wonderful especially the translation.

    1. Lou Ann, this is also my opinion, I find this CD wonderful, certainly a big step for Il Volo, which once again has put itself on the line.
SUCCEDE is the song that describes Ignazio’s love for Michelle, which was born little by little, because he realized that he was fine with her.

  4. Thank you very much for this post and translatins of the words of all these beautiful songs. The CD is fantastic and I love all the songs, for now my favourite are Chiaro di luna, Succede and Ad Astra outro. I hope we will hear some of the new songs in Verona. I can’t believe that in a month I will be in Verona again😍. I’m so excited. Thank you Daniela and Pat for your great work. You’re incredibile. Bacci e abbracci 😘

    1. Jolanta, do you know that many girls have written to me that if they had presented CHIARO DI LUNA in Sanremo they would have won? I must say that it was the first song they sang on Radio Italia and I immediately thought wow wow!! Now there’s less than a month left until Verona, Jolanta the countdown has started, I can’t wait and we’ll also sing lots of songs, as long as it doesn’t rain!! 😘

  5. You’re most welcome, Jolanta! 😊 I only wish I could also be there to meet you! 😘

  6. We can never thank you enough, Daniela, for another epic work of translating…..so many words (in fact, for me, too many at times.) But it was so helpful to be able to listen to the songs while reading the lyrics in English, in addition to the guys’ interpretations too. It’s too early for me to answer your questions (sorry) but I still love Capolavoro and Who Wants to Live Forever, plus Succede. One small complaint I have is the length–37 minutes is very short for a CD these days, at least in the U.S.–can’t have too much of their wonderful voices!

    1. Judi was an epic job, but it made me discover the lyrics of the songs well and I memorized them better, so I’m ready to sing them in Verona!
As for their voices, you are right to complain and then we, we can’t get enough of hearing their voices! 😁

  7. Thank you for the translations Daniela. It makes it more enjoyable understanding the lyrics. My favorites were L’infinito and Succede. I have to admit when I first listened to the new songs I was not sure I really liked them. But after listening to them a few times I changed my mind. They are different. I do wish Piero was more prominent on some of them but I know this is not his forte. I do agree with your songs for each of the guys. I’m glad the guys were able to do this and that it is being so well recieved. It is nice to see them so happy about this cd. They certainly deserve all the praise they get.

    1. I agree with you Cathy, certainly Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca deserve a big round of applause for moving out of their comfort zone and doing hard work with the authors, it’s not easy especially for them who are always criticized here in Italy. I’m not sure yet whether the CD has been a good success, it’s still too early to say, but I think so for them. But I see that they are happy and this fills my heart.

  8. What an amazing job you have done, as always, Daniela!
Thank you! I am so looking forward to listening and reading the translations while I listen!
    ❤️🎉🎶🇦🇺

Luz, what you wrote is not trivial at all, they take us on a flight into their souls, they put their feelings to music, once again they have given us a great gift.
      A hug from Italy 😘

  10. Ciao!

I love the intro and outro and have to say I like Opera as my favorite. I like the powerful intro it has and it seems to stand out from among the others.

Although the interpretation of the Queen song is good and not one of theirs, I find it to be a bit boring. Sorry Queen!

    1. Jana, I also love “intro and outro” and I like OPERA a lot, but I know that having done classical dance I’m a little more inclined towards these beautiful instrumental and sung pieces. 😉

  11. I have written 2 previous replies and so far none have been posted. I will use this as a test to see if it works. If it works I will rewrite a new post tomorrow!

    1. I checked the comments, Sheila, and found none of yours in this blog’s spam or pending folders.

  12. Thank you Daniela for your large post. At first I don’t understand the comments that Piero is not heard much on the album. You can hear Piero’s beautiful voice loudly in a lot of the songs, solo and especially in duet with Ignazio. I like all the songs and find it difficult to pick the best out of them. Opera is sensational and also Chiara di Luna and Succede. But really, the rest is also fantastic. Their Who wants to Live Forever is a beautiful new version of this song and Ad Astra the outro for me is like Bohemian Rhapsody 2.0. In short, a magnificant new album on which Il Volo is reborne and has matured themselves.

    1. Wow, Jacqueline, what beautiful words and I think exactly like you, we hope that other people will also align themselves with us, because the guys have done a great job and you are right, as I have already said several times, Piero’s voice is there and you can hear it, indeed in OPERA he and Ignazio admitted that it is not an easy song to sing. As for the outro, they admitted that they were inspired also by Carmina Burana. One thing I hope, that in the new concerts TUTTI PER UNO they bring Bohemian Rhapsody, it would be fantastic. 😍

  13. Dear Daniela, thanks again for making all of us a part of all this new Il Volo – their new album. Thanks for the lyrics, so important to feel tat music. I absolutely love Ad Asra, from the very beginning Spotify released it, I’m there 😀 Love it to pieces. May my favorite is Capolavoro, but not exactly. Every listening counts, discovering something new. These tree boys are incredible, love their voices, love their new album. Brilliant job done! Wish him all the luck and inspiration! And I love you for all the work done for us! xx

    1. Thank you Toni for the wonderful compliments which I appreciate.
I admit that the more you listen to the CD, the more you discover songs or lyrics that you like more. It is certainly an important job, but our kids certainly couldn’t be reduced to singing four tunes arranged on computer-generated music. We hope people appreciate this. 😊

      1. I truly hope our children will appreciate the beauty in all the forms and projections, especially in the music. Music is a part of our everyday live and that is for to be associated with something really worthy.

  14. Daniela and Pat….wow…wow…wow! This was possibly the most important post you’ve written, all those translations and videos and photos….you’ve truly outdone yourselves and we all appreciate the time you’ve spent writing and translating this!
I really enjoy the new album AD ASTRA and particularly Capalovoro, Ad Astra, L’Infinite, Succede, I Want To Live Forever, etc……it’s very hard to pick my favorite after Capalovoro! That one keeps going around in my head!
My guess as to the boys (men) song choice….I Think:
    GG- AD ASTRA
    PIE- SUCCEDE
    IGNA- L’INFINITE
I think they all perform wonderfully and with their usual spirit and dedication to all they do…. Don’t feel anyone was not fully represented…..these songs are about all of them as ILVOLO and as individual personalities. I believe Piero still would like to be on an opera stage but not permanently, that would mean leaving ILVOLO and he’s been clear that’s not happening.
Thank you for all you give to all of us ALL the time!
    Hugs and affection, Carol 💖💖💖🩷🤗😘🙏🏻🕊️🦋🎶🎵🎼🎤

    1. Carol, I’m so glad you enjoyed this post. 😊 Daniela really put in a lot of work on it. 👏🏻 I need to listen to the songs more now. I received my CD a couple days ago. So cool to have it now with their signatures. Poor guys, signing all those inserts for the CDs and albums! So far, my least favorite is L’infinito. When I listen to these songs I am wanting to feel something and that one didn’t do it for me. I kind of miss their powerful harmonies in this album. I’m sure the songs will grow on me as I listen to them more and more. Capolavoro and Who Wants to Live Forever are great.

    2. It’s like this for me too, Carol, I can’t choose, I like them all and I too think that the kids’ voices, but in particular their feelings, have been put in the foreground. Capolavoro is certainly the catchiest and for this reason it was chosen for Sanremo.😊

  15. They sound better every time I listen to them….the songs, their voices are always great! I like the intro and outre AD ASTRA very much and many others but cannot get CAPALOVORO out of my head!!🥹🤔🩷

  16. Daniela, As always, thank you for your message and especially for the translations. We would be lost without you helping us understand their beautiful words and songs!

I love this new CD and I think it shows how the guys are evolving and maturing. I have 2 favorites – Succede and I Want to Live Forever. Succede – when you don’t even understand the words but the song touches you and makes you emotional – its a good song! I’ve always liked I Want to Live Forever, but especially love the way the guys sing it.

I hope the guys have a safe and wonderful tour.

Wishing you all the best and again, Thank You!!!!

    Gina

    1. Gina, as I had the opportunity to say, SUCCEDE describes Ignazio’s love for Michelle, and therefore I understand that it is very emotional even if you didn’t understand the words before, and now that you know the lyrics, you can imagine Ignazio slowly understanding that the love has arrived, with the person who makes you feel good…..IT HAPPENS,

  17. Daniela and Pat, you ladies are fantastic. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the time and effort you put into this massive post for us. I got my CD from Milan a few days ago with the autographed photo, I wonder how many the boys signed for us. This CD is like a bridge, of music they have sung in the past and what their future will bring to us. I love everything they do, no one is better than Il Volo. Chiamo de Luna is my favorite so far, but I’m sure it will be one of the others tomorrow. Have a great weekend everyone. Ciao!

    1. RoseMarie, I was immediately won over by the music on this CD. I understand that it’s not the same for everyone, but those who don’t appreciate them straight away will, I think, enjoy them little by little.
I can imagine a very powerful ending in Verona with AD ASTRA outro.😘

  18. Thank you! What fun to share my thoughts. First let me say I love the album!!! To me Piero has always had the most range (Angel to No Puede Ser!!!), but Gianluca really takes off here, quite a falsetto. Ignazio is loving the pop. He isn’t as loud as he has been in some recent songs. I figured he wanted to give older songs a more pop sound, but now he can just sing LOL. And they sing together a lot, who doesn’t love that “4th voice”? And the orchestrations are, as usual, brilliant.
I agree with you on the songs for Gianluca and Ignazio, but I think Piero’s song is Il Mondo all’incontrarlo. He was very animated speaking of it, and his voice takes us on a journey – soft, strong, deep, light. Anyway, I like that song for him, and Chiaro di Luna is good too, in fact it might be my favorite today. I can picture jumping up and down at a concert and singing. This can easily change as Frammenti is also up there.
A least favorite? If I HAD to choose I think L’infinito, but I’m probably alone on that one.
I’m still waiting for my USA CD, but I can stream on Amazon music and I truly love the album!!!!

I hope we will hear when Piero will have an opera performance. My family knows I will leave the moment I hear to be wherever it is, whatever the cost. I go to the Met Opera in NYC and I imagine Piero as the tenor almost Everytime. No one today has the depth of his tenor voice. Thank you for listening!
    Congratulations ragazzi!!!! Bravi! Brilliant!!

    1. Karen, you’re right, the voices of Piero Ignazio and Gianluca in this CD are evaluated in different ways. You can definitely hear Ignazio’s rock side a lot, but Gianluca’s falsettos, what can I say, are wonderful, and Piero’s less classic voice, I really like them.
You say that the song you like least is INFINITO and you think you’re the only one who thinks so, but it’s not like that, there are several of you who say that, and I have to tell you that I too at Radio Italia thought it was the least engaging , but now I really like the meaning of its lyrics and consequently the song has also become one of my favourites. I mean, I like all the songs! 😍
Ignazio confirmed in an interview that Piero will do an entire opera by the end of the year, no one knows where, get ready!! 😉

      1. LOL, they are so good. Even Infinito I will enjoy. In all the years there are only 3 songs I skip -Delilah, Santa Cecilia (on Amame), and People. I LOVE Barbra Streisand but usually skip it when she sings too. How fortunate we are to have found i ragazzi!
And I only hope I have more than 24 hours when Piero’s opera engagement is announced. If you go please by a ticket for me. I will give you twice the value! This has been fun sharing and seeing all the thoughts and comments. Thanks to all.

Am besten gefallen mir Capolavoro, who wants to live forever und besonders gut Il mondo all’incontrario.
    Grüße an alle
    Ursula

      .
      .
Ursula, you absolutely don’t have to apologize, tastes cannot be discussed and are respected. I don’t think it’s easy for everyone and you certainly won’t be the only one to find this difficulty, but you have to know that you will always find the songs that were part of their repertoire, both in concerts and on television events.
It is certainly easier to do a cover of an already famous song and sing it with the impeccable voices of Il Volo, but they wanted to get away from this label that said “Il Volo can only sing covers”.
As I write to you, I’m listening to AD ASTRA for the umpteenth time, I really like all the songs, and I liked them immediately on first listening. As I have already written, I believe that the new CD was made more for the Italian public, but I think that when you see them performed in a concert, I am sure you will like them, just as we all appreciate the classical opera pieces that Piero includes in the concerts , even those who don’t like opera. I’m also very curious about the duets that will take place at the Arena this year, the boys have promised great surprises.
Thank you for giving us your honest opinion.

Musik muss mich bewegen.

      Ursula,
I would also like to thank you for your honest opinion of the new album. All thoughts are welcome here.

After my first listen of all the songs I found that none of the songs reached out and grabbed me like IL MONDO did the very first time I heard it. It brought tears to my eyes even though I had never heard of IL VOLO before or before I understood a word of Italian. Music has to move me. I am listening to the new songs and I do like a lot of the melodies, but other than Capolavoro and Who Wants to Live Forever none of the new songs give me the chills. I realize our guys are trying new things and I appreciate all the hard work that went into this album. Daniela’s translations will help me understand the meanings of the songs. I’m sure after listening more that they will grow on me. 😊

      1. Pat, Il Mondo is a song from 1965, I was 7 years old, but I remember perfectly that I liked it immediately and it is still a magnificent song.😍
Not everyone knows that the musical arrangement is by Morricone. 😉

      2. Daniela, I just read somewhere a day or so ago that Morricone arranged IL MONDO. I was surprised, but no wonder if affects me so greatly! 💕

    3. Liebe Ursula

What can I say… – well first and foremost a big thank you to Daniela/Pat for the epic job of assembling these videos and translating each and every of the AD ASTRA songs in order for us foreigners to get the full picture of this new album. So much appreciated. Next… – this is overwhelming in all aspects. I have had to re-read the lyrics numerous times but have to admit that in spite of commanding a relatively well English language (not my mother tongue) I am not able to comprehend and fully understand them. To me they seem more than “just” song lyrics but rather more advanced poetry. Hence, I enjoy the little video intros to each song the guys have made – in spite of same I do, however, still lack to understand the more profound meaning – it seems all very philosophical to me. I’ll put a bigger effort into studying them further soonest.

What further can I say… – the album has still not truly captured my heart albeit I can most certainly appreciate the top quality of all aspects of same. No doubt countless hours have been put into the perfectionation of each single note performed and millions of thoughts been turned and twisted in order to present us with the best of the best. And if the goal has been to produce a modern pop-album it has been obtained – I do, however, wonder whether or not the guys have struggled a bit too hard – bending a bit too far backwards – in order to please the younger segment? Hence, maybe by doing so they have ended in the opposite ditch and now placed themselves in another more “nuveau-artistic-pop” genre, as to me AD ASTRA is no regular main-stream pop-album that Mr. and Mrs. Italy automatically will fall in love with but rather an album that does likewise need close listening and knowledge/love for music? I don’t know if you can follow me here or whether I am able to express myself clearly – but AD ASTRA is no easy album to me. At least not yet. Very complex in many aspects.

As to my present favorites on AD ASTRA, well, it is still “Capolavoro” that I love very much but also believe will be the first one of which I shall tire and then “Who wants to live forever”, that I truly find a fantastic version of this legendary song with Ignazio fully matching Freddie Mercury, wow. As to the other songs I believe I may take a liking to “Il mondo all’incontrario” and “Succede” coming time. The least attractive songs to me are: “Opera” and “Ad Astra – the outro”. Albeit the latter offers a more fresh rhythm and somewhat different sound picture, I find it a bit of a confusing mix – too artsy – too much orchestra.

Before I get all carried away here, I’ll conclude with a warm greeting to everyone – and a “see you soon” to those of you who are so fortunate to go to Verona next month in similarity with me. I am soooo excited already and convinced that it will be an awesome concert with no doubt a row of surprises and unexpected elements. Love – Kirsten

    1. You’re welcome, Kirsten! 😊 I too, have also struggled with the lyrics to some of the new songs. Some seem to not make as much sense to me. It is probably that it translates a bit differently from the Italian. I still get the meaning of the song though and that’s what counts!

      1. But Pat and Kirsten, what do you think, for me the lyrics are very clear…. 😂😂😂

      2. The lyrics are very clear for you! You are so funny Daniela! 🤣😂🤣😂

    2. We agree on one thing Kirsten, there will be many surprises in Verona and we will certainly have fun, of course hoping that it doesn’t rain!! 🤞🤞💖

For the rest, you know that I asked for both positive and negative opinions and therefore I knew that this album will not be liked by everyone, you told me immediately, and I take note of it, but believe me my opinion instead is that AD ASTRA outro both epic, beautiful, yes very instrumental but brilliant. I told you I was a Queen lover, have you never heard of Innuendo? I found it fantastic even before I knew it was by Queen.
Tastes are personal and must be respected, but I also know that certain songs that at the beginning don’t attract you at all, in fact you don’t like them, in the end you discover that they are really beautiful and others that perhaps attracted you at the beginning, then annoy you, so let’s give it time.😉😘

  21. Thanks Daniela and Pat for making the lyric translations of AD ASTRA songs available for us, and all in one place. I couldn’t wait for the CD or vinyl to arrive, so listened first on my iTunes purchase. Capolavoro grew on me pretty quickly even before the album release, although I felt Piero was shortchanged in the song and the video (although he might have had some input in how he was presented?). Perhaps because I heard it so frequently at first, I find I mostly skip over it on the CD. I love the other songs to different degrees, but listen to all of them extensively. As others have mentioned, I initially had an occasional problem differentiating who was singing what part…not Ignazio though. However listening to the live Radio Italia performance was a revelation (thanks again!) Everyone had a beautifully distinct (and beautiful) voice. Maybe the orchestration was overpowering a time or two on the CD, but I thought overall the mix of the guys’ voices, choir, orchestration and band/electronics was near perfect. My favorite song is Il mondo all’ Incontrario, likely because of the harmonies and Piero’s more distincts part. Chiaro di luna, Succede and Ad Astra are other favorites. But really they could be singing from a phone book in any language…as long as I hear those fabulous 3 part harmonies I’m happy. I hope the album is successful. It seems the guys and their partners in the project are very pleased with it. It’s delicious ‘ear candy’ for me that will stay on my car’s CD player for a long time.

    1. You’re welcome, Citrondr! 😊 I agree with you about the guys voices. I am missing the strong 3-part harmonies on this album. I also found it hard at times to distinguish between Piero and Gianluca which surprises me because I have been listening to them exclusively for over 8 years! I think that is when Piero was singing in his softer voice which I love! I also agree with you that the orchestration is too strong in some places. This is just different music from our guys. I have put the CD in my car and will listen to it there too. I like several of the songs already.

    2. I knew that the Radio Italia video would make the difference, in fact I, who was present that evening, Citrondr, must tell you that I was absolutely involved in the new songs, it’s a completely different thing to see them there a few steps away from you while they sing them, their voices are very distinct and you can feel the emotion of presenting one of their creations.
Let’s be clear, Il Volo is capable of doing much more than what it demonstrates on this CD, but as they themselves said, entering the listener’s heart isn’t always about achieving the highest pitch and perfect harmony. Here in Italy they are often accused of being technically good but not transmitting anything. Piero’s voice is his voice not set in a lyrical way, and I like it a lot and not all artists manage to move from a lyric voice to a pop voice and Piero manages to do it and I like it a lot.
I like Capolavoro but I have to tell you that it is the simplest and most obvious, while the more I listen to AD ASTRA outro I find it wonderful, but in reality I like them all. I’m waiting for the vocal coach Giacomo Rossi to give me some technical details which I will then gladly pass on to you.

  22. Great job Daniela, so nice to know what the words are when listening to this outstanding album. I have to admit at first I was a little skeptical but the more I listened, the more I loved it. My favorite is Chiaro di Luna Succede and the fact is I really enjoy them all. The harmonies are fantastic as usual and I found Piero had as much singing as the others, all were awesome as usual. Thanks again to all of you for a great job.

  23. Amazing album! My wife and i have been a fan for many yrs.. When i heard these songs i knew right away i was going to have them dance in my head over and over again.. Even with not being able to understand what was sung, the melodies and their voices are magnificent. Having the translation makes it even better, thank you so much.

    1. I am an American Italian. I do not speak nor interpret the language. Yet the voices and songs of Il Volo
have me hooked. Thank you for the translations and a hug to the three men for their gift of song. My husband and I love their music.
