The good news that Il Volo would be participating in the Youth Jubilee was released directly from the Vatican press room.
The Youth Jubilee 2025 is a event that took place in Rome, Italy, from July 28 to August 3, 2025, on the occasion of the Great Jubilee of 2025. The event was announced by Pope Francis during the closing Mass of World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon.
Here’s the announcement of the Il Volo presence at the Jubilee.
“…..There will be the three young Italians from Il Volo, now known throughout the world.”
The Youth Jubilee is a wonderful event held as part of the Holy Year 2025. It is a large gathering of young people from around the world, united by faith, prayer, and the hope for a better world, a very significant moment in these dark times.
The event took place in Tor Vergata, on the outskirts of Rome.
Pope Leo XIV joined the young people by helicopter and celebrated a Mass for them.
Il Volo sang two beautiful songs during this event, one upon the Pope’s arrival and one at the close of the Mass.
Upon arrival, the Pope drove among the young people in the Popemobile, greeted with enthusiasm.
After the Popemobile ride, the Pope disembarked, was given a cross, and proceeded on foot, followed by many young people, toward the altar where Mass was celebrated.
During this journey, Il Volo and the entire Vatican choir and orchestra performed the beautiful Jubilee Hymn, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
Then the mass began, during which many strong messages were given to the young people.
“Seek the truth passionately. Build a more humane world. Friendship can be the path to peace.”
“Do not quench your thirst with ineffective substitutes. We are not made for a life where everything is predictable and fixed, but for an existence that is constantly regenerated through giving, through love.”
“Fragility is part of the wonder that we are.”
“As you return to your countries in the coming days, throughout the world, continue to walk joyfully in the footsteps of the Savior, and infect everyone you meet with your enthusiasm and the witness of your faith! Have a good journey!”
At the end of the mass, Il Volo sang the beautiful MAGNIFICAT in Latin with the entire choir.
The Pope thanked all them for the beautiful musical accompaniment, and then he told the young people to rest well and he expects them there the next day for Holy Mass.
The event is over, it was filled with emotion.
Now I’ll share with you some moments from the Magnificat, captured from another perspective.

But the meeting with the Pope was not just this evening because in the afternoon all the artists were received in St. Peter’s by Pope Leo.
The Pope to the artists: “For me it is a privilege, a blessing to be able to participate in this mission, in this service, as Bishop of Rome, as Holy Father, knowing above all the faith, enthusiasm, and joy we share and which gives voice to what we have in our hearts, and which is above all the desire to find happiness, joy, love; to experience faith also with the gifts the Lord has given us: music, dance, and the many artistic forms that you will share this afternoon with the young people.”
During the Pope’s journey in the popemobile towards the altar, television cameras roamed among the audience and even briefly captured Gianluca, Claudia and Torpedine, here they are!

And now I offer you the beautiful text of the Jubilee Hymn, sung at the beginning by Il Volo.
PILGRIMS OF HOPE (lyrics by Pierangelo Sequieri)
Living flame of my hope,
may this song reach You!
Eternal womb of infinite life,
on my journey I trust in You.
Every language, people, and nation
finds light in your Word.
Fragile and scattered sons and daughters
are welcomed in your beloved Son.
Living flame of my hope,
may this song reach You!
Eternal womb of infinite life,
on the journey I trust in You.
God looks upon us, tender and patient:
the dawn of a new future is born.
New Heavens, a new Earth:
pass through walls, Spirit of life.
Living flame of my hope,
may this song reach You!
Eternal womb of infinite life,
on the journey I trust in You.
Lift up your eyes, move with the wind,
shorten your pace: God comes, in time.
Look at the Son who became Man:
thousands and thousands find the way.
Living flame of my hope,
let this song reach You!
Eternal womb of infinite life,
on my journey, I trust in You.
And for those who want to try singing the anthem in Italian, here’s a video with the music and lyrics.
Oh my, how exciting! I watched the entire event live and was deeply moved by the sight of such a multitude of young people from all over the world… I renewed my faith that the world can change; our future is in these young people, who are bearers of words of unity, peace, and hope!
Gianluca Piero and Ignazio were once again witnesses to this special event; their voices soared and added a special touch. The Jubilee hymn was wonderful and the very difficult Magnificat was rendered very well!
Thank you for this day of love! ❤️🙏❤️

Thank you again Daniela for an interesting and lovely review on the Youth Jubilee and lovely Il Volo singing.
What an amazing day and to be there must have been fantastic. I saw some videos and the ragazzi looked handsome and sung so beautifully. What an honour for them. Hopefully they can rest until the next venture.
Grazie mille. And take care. Look forward to the next time.
Xx🫶
Yes Fenella, it was a fantastic day and truly a great honor. Once again, our treasures raised their voices at such an important event.
Thank you, Daniela, for this wonderful recap of Saturday’s event. I was fortunate enough to watch it live here in the US on my cable channel EWTN. The entire program was enlightening.
!!!! MERCI ENCORE DANIELA !!! BACIIIIIII A TUTTI !!!! DA NIZZA !!!! GIUSEPPINA !!
Giuseppina was a major global event that gives us hope that things can truly get better in the world.
Being present at such an event was a great honor for Il Volo.
Eileen, I also followed it live and it moved me a lot, it was touching to see that multitude of young people!!
How wonderful that IL Volo was chosen to sing at the Jubilee…..thank you so much Daniela and Pat for this post…. love the video I saw where the boys were making the sign of the Cross when greeted by the Pope. I pictured them as little boys growing up going to Mass with their families…..innocent, cute…..not knowing that they would meet and their lives would intertwine with each other…. and the way the Lord would bless and use them as ambassadors of His Love for their country and faith. I pray they continue to be in the Lord’s favor.
I was so blessed to attend their concert in Bethlehem, Pa .
this past year for the second time. I pray and hope I am still around for the next time they come…..I’m 83 and still kicking…Ellie from Doylestown, Pa.
You’re most welcome, Ellie! 😊 I noticed them making the sign of the Cross too! 😃✝
Ellie, you wrote your age and that you’re in good shape, and that’s a great fortune and I’m very happy for you. This way, you’ll be able to follow every moment of Il Volo and some more live concerts, they’ll amaze us again and again.
Our Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio were respectful and very sweet as they made the sign of the cross.
As always Daniela your love and light for the guys shined but to me this was soooo much more and then some!!! they all did a wonderful job but the masses were wonderful the guys let their music ,of course shine, but they let their love of their Pope, God and life shine as well…. they opened and they closed so to speak for the Pope but they were with this program so deeply you could see it in their faces, hear it in their voices how beautiful an experience for them and for u!!! s but also a second gift is your message to us here as well!!!!! Thank you
Cindi, it’s true. Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca were emotionally involved in this commitment, but I’d also say very happy. There are some short fanmade videos circulating where our boys on the edge of the stage sing and clap along with the choir in one of the songs they didn’t perform directly. Adorable.
Yes I’ve seen that as well. They’re just amazing men and I from want him delighted to be able to share my love of music, their music as well as other music and also their lives. It’s been a long 15 years for these guys and they’re doing wonderful still
Thankyou once again for bringing this momentous event including our Magnificent Il Volo with a masterful rendition of very difficult pieces into our far away homes. I am truly grateful to you all.
Hazel, thank you for appreciating it. It was impossible not to be involved in such a big and important event.
Thank you so much, Daniela for sharing this wonderful Jubilee. I cannot even imagine the feelings the guys had performing for the pope and all of the people who attended. The pictures are wonderful and the videos made my heart sing. Thank you again Daniela for being so generous and sharing all of these moments with us.
Victoria, I knew this beautiful event would touch your hearts too. It was thrilling for us to see it from the outside, and so I can imagine the emotions of Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca. Their hearts were beating with millions of others.
Oh it seems like so long ago since we heard from you! But that also means our guys were “resting” too. This was such a beautiful, A very moving event for all of us who believe, even if it was a renewal of you your faith. God does speak to us in amazing and unusual ways! This time it was our young people, the Pope and the gifts God has given so many young people like our IL VOLO! They all are a bright light in the rest of worlds darkness!….may their light forever shine and lead us out of the dark.
Thank you and Pat for all of the Joy and Hope and sharing with us some of the details of our boys AMAZING performance at such a special event and for sharing the translation, so beautifully performed for all those wonderful young people, the Pope and all of us. This was a lovely gift!
I am now a permanent resident of Connecticut, love my new apartment and the Watermark….and of course being so close to my girls, son and grandchildren….I’m feeling very blessed and grateful!
As always sending you both lots of love and gratitude, Carol
💖💖💖🎹🎼🎤🎵❤️🤗😘🌻🙏🏻☮️
You’re welcome, Carol! 😊 Connecticut? I’ve always wanted to visit there. I hear they have a lot of herb gardens there. 💗 The Miserere that the guys sang is a very hard piece to sing and they did wonderfully! 💗🎵
Carol, it’s actually been a month since we posted anything. There are actually numerous fan pages that repost news or videos every day, but our goal is to always be there for new and, above all, important moments, and so here we are. For our kids, it’s a time of well-deserved rest, too, but we’re always ready to share in unforgettable moments.
I’m so happy to hear you’re happy with your new home and especially that you’re close to your children and grandchildren, a joy.
.
Yes, Ursula, I think they were very emotional. You noticed during the Magnificat the looks I was giving the conductor; they were tense and involved. At the end of the song, as they greeted the crowd and went to the edge of the stage, I clearly heard a voice telling them, “You were good.” I think it was someone from the Vatican who is following the whole event.
Thank you Daniela, Pitterpat0 and everyone else for this wonderful post! I also watched most of the very moving show and moved by the singing of the boys! I didn’t need to understand the words however to me the emotions of our boys delivered the message to the youth of the world!
I’ll admit I was transfixed watching whether their music was going to fly away! The glances from Gianluca to Ignatieff and Piero showed they all shared leadership and love for each other!
I have so missed these posts, however I knew you wouldn’t forget us! Blessings to all from me ✝️
You’re most welcome, Sheila! 😊 The Magnificat was sung in Latin.
You’d never believe I took Latin in high school! I figured it would be an easy crédit – boy was I wrong!
Just proves these boys are truly brilliant, joyful and magical ♥️
Sheila was a memorable event for the massive turnout, but also, and above all, for the good feelings it fostered. There is still so much hope for lasting peace in the world.
The songs were beautiful, and I even included the lyrics because they deserved to be understood.
What we saw were truly beautiful moments of faith and hope, as Luz and our children experienced them on the front lines.
The meeting with Pope Leo was fantastic, and that multitude of young people warmed our hearts, millions of hearts beating for a world of peace and love. Everything was magnificent and moving.
Yes thank you both Daniela and Pat. I’ve missed the posts too, but hoped things were just quiet and you were enjoying some relaxing.
I saw this covered on the U.S. news where, I believe, they said there were approximately a million youth in attendance. Amazing! In the video of the processional hymn I think I could pick out the voices of Il Volo. What beautiful music, but then, it’s Il Volo!.
You’re welcome, Sally! 😊 Things were quiet with the guys, but you know that couldn’t last for long!
Yes, Sally, it’s been a while since we posted, and I’m sure everything is quiet, but events like this are inevitable, so I’m glad you enjoyed our report.
The music is beautiful, and the opening Jubilee hymn is truly stunning, and if you listen carefully, the voices of our young men are incredibly recognizable and wonderful.
Thank you Daniela and Pat. Performing for the Pope seems to becoming an Il Volo tradition. First Pope Francis and now Pope Leo XIV. Or as the attendees were shouting, Papa Leone!!!
You’re most welcome, Rose Marie! 😊 I hope that IL VOLO tradition continues! I loved hearing everyone chant, “Papa Leone”!
It’s true RoseMarie, for Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero it was an honor to be able to perform in front of Pope Francis and then Pope Leo and they also had the pleasure of meeting Pope John Paul II, truly memorable moments.
Correction, it is impossible that they met Pope John Paul II since he died in 2005.
Thanks for sharing. And may I say that I think you said it so well,Daniela, in your final comments about the gathering and the young people. So agree with you. As always, great performance by the guys. Barb W
Great Barb, there is really a lot of hope in youth, let’s hope for the best!!
Thank you Daniela. What an honor. I can’t think of anyone better to serve as an example to the young people in attendance than Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca. Their performance was beautiful. And they are so respectful and polite. They are wonderful representatives for such an event. How proud their parents must be!
Cathy, Piero Ignazio, and Gianluca are certainly excellent examples, and for this reason they are invited to important events aimed at young people, focused on our future, and also based on faith.
Wow!! Daniela & Pat – I did not expect this beautiful presentation – how outstanding – although I viewed the whole Jubilee on YouTube & CNBC – & great coverage I might add – I did not know you ‘earth angels’ would write a great write-up for all of us loyal fans – the World-Wide Jubilee for Youth was stunning – a very spiritual day – when Pope Leo the 14th was elected as the new Pope – I understood him to be a man of great spiritual worth – warm with great humility – I am not a Catholic I am LDS member – but this man has proven to be a divine soul – Daniela & Pat – what a momentous occasion – for IL Volo – well if the world hadn’t heard of them previously – they will now – haha!! – two points I would like to make is – there was a shot of Pope Leo between the shoulders of two young people – whoever took this shot has an eye for capturing a very profound & historical moment – the other point that made me smile in such a solemn occasion was Piero – Ignazio & Gianluca trying to keep their music sheets from blowing around – haha!! – our boys sang beautifully two very difficult hymns reverently executed – they looked gorgeous in their dark suits & crisp white shirts – their whole demeanour was one of class – thank you once again for this very special presentation – much love.
You’re welcome, Jude! 😊 I thought it was wonderful. I am Catholic and I love Papa Leone already. I have heard a lot of great comments about him from everyone. Our guys did a spectacular job performing the Magnificat….a very difficult piece. What a wonderful honor for them!
Yes everything was beautiful. Loved the posts from Daniela, pictures and videos. I especially enjoyed when the young people sang grande amore to Il volo. What a beautiful experience for everyone involved
❤️✝️🙏
Yes, Jude was an important occasion for those of the Catholic faith, but I would say that these events transcend faith and go beyond it to the trust and hope of a world united in peace, not barriers built by political, ethnic, or religious ties.
It was nice to see Ignazio, Piero, and Gianluca holding back the musical scores so they wouldn’t be blown away by the wind. I agree with you, our boys were elegant and well-mannered, both at the meeting with the Pope in the Vatican and during the Youth event!!
Daniela – your comment lifted my heart – you are correct when you say Faith is not bound by politics or material aspects – spirituality is the key to loving people – one of our ladies commented Piero is religious – her observations are correct – one can see he is a beautiful soul – thank you once again for all that you do for us.
I am incredibly happy that the boys were given the opportunity to open and close the main Saturday mass of the jubilee. I can’t imagine anyone more perfect to whom the Vatican could entrust this honor. And the boys did it with incredible elegance and professionalism. And if this doesn’t convince some Italian journalists of their qualities (personal and professional), then I seriously don’t understand. Anyone who gets such an opportunity to perform their art in front of the Pope and a crowd of millions of people goes through a strict selection process months in advance. It’s not just about musical talent (which is definitely undeniable), but also about their personal quality and spiritual preparation. Their ability to bring dignity, universal appeal and cultural depth to an event that has a global reach. So yes, I’ll say it simply: I’m proud of all three.
The opening song Pilgrims of Hope is really beautiful and the boys’ voices harmonize beautifully (although Ignazio’s voice was a bit muffled by the choir). But what really touched me the most was Gianluca’s velvety voice. In one comment on FB I read that “his voice floated lightly like the voice of an angel over the entire space”. I could not find better words to describe this literally incredible experience. And I’m sure you all know very well what I’m talking about.
There are many photos and videos of the whole event. I would like to add a link from the official Vatican website. You can find individual photos from the morning greeting of the artists by the Pope. He personally shook hands with everyone and of course with the boys. Piero and Ignazio took the meeting with dignity, but Gianluca surprised again. I would really like to know what made the Pope laugh so much.
https://photo.vaticanmedia.va/en/12444-02-08-2025ArtistiVegliaGiubileodeiGiovani.html?page=5
I loved Magnificat and ubi caritas too and other songs sang too
Iva, I must say you found beautiful words that I completely agree with.
“Anyone who has the opportunity to perform before the Pope and a crowd of millions must pass a rigorous selection process months in advance. It’s not just about musical talent (which is certainly undeniable), but also about their personal quality and spiritual preparation. Their ability to bring dignity, universal appeal, and cultural depth to a global event.”
Well said, you completely nailed it.
Thanks also for the Vatican link; unfortunately, I saw the photo with Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca too late, otherwise I would have gladly added it.
Every thing was beautiful and I loved when the audience sang grande amore after Il volo was finished .
Thank you so much Daniela and Pat. Absolutely wonderful and so beautiful! I love what you wrote about renewed faith; young people being bearers of unity, peace and hope. IL VOLO had a Devine Appointment when they first met on that talent show. It was meant to be. There really is no one like them. ❤️
You’re most welcome, Patrizia! 😊
Thank you Patrizia for the compliments and for your appreciation. I think you’re right, no one could have represented this moment better than our guys.
Dear Daniela,
I am overwhelmed with the story of this majestic Jubilee, and IL Volo being asked to perform for Pope Leo. Their 2nd Papal Blessing. Their work with Music and the Arts has been a great achievement and part of a beginning Legacy.
Thank you,
Mary G Dwork
Monsignor Frisina, the conductor of the Vatican orchestra and the choir, during Il Volo performance, is the author of the music for the Magnificat!! How emotional he was probably!
Dear Daniela, thank you for the great videos, information you send out from IL Volo. I was able to see them live thru YouTube channel. It was fantastic 👏 bravissimo much ❤️🙏
I agree, Nydia, but I think the greatest emotion came from our guys; the choir was truly impressive. At the end of the Magnificat, in a video, you can hear a male voice telling Il Volo, “You were good.” Maybe it’s Monsignor Frisina himself, who knows?
Not all celebrities get to meet with Pope, what a wonderful honor for IL Volo to meet him. You are blessed 🙌 ❤️ IL VOLO forever 🙏 ❤️
I agree with you Marita, I also saw the event live and it was a great emotion and as you said, meeting the Pope is not for everyone and for them it is the third Pope they have met.
Mary, don’t you think what Pope Leo said about the role of music is beautiful? I completely agree.
This is the third Pope Il Volo has met, and this too is a very important sign.
Liebe Daniela, liebe Pat.
Gern geschehen, Ina. 😊
Their Angelic voices stirred my soul! For a moment I felt like I had a glimpse of heaven! Absolutely amazing!
However, Ignazio himself said in several interviews that meeting Pope Francis was an extraordinary experience regardless whether you are religious or not. Plus Il Volo was invited as a group, I think it wouldn’t make much sense to send only some members. And I’d say it’s also a question of being a professional.
I agree Klára! I have family members who no longer go to church but will come for a special event and not mind at all. 😊
Klara, you don’t have to be a strict practitioner to be faithful, and people appreciate each other even beyond their religious beliefs.
Personally, I think Piero is the most practicing of the three, then there’s Ignazio, and perhaps Gianluca is the most skeptical, but that’s just my feeling.
.
Ina, I actually know Ignazio said he received a lot of support from a church priest during his father’s passing. I don’t think Ignazio chose a civil wedding because it doesn’t agree with the church. Here in Italy, lately, these are individual choices made by people who are very close to the church. Sometimes there are times when we’re more inclined to grow closer or further away from the faith, but that doesn’t mean we’re no longer deeply faithful.
I loved watching the Youth Jubilee on YouTube. It was wonderful and all the singing was great. Piero, Ignazio & Gianluca sang “The Magnificat” beautifully. It brought tears to my eyes. They were Outstanding.
Alice, everything was truly wonderful and the Magnificat is very difficult to render well, in Latin and with the choir having different starting points, but I would say that it was performed admirably, I can’t imagine how long and how much our guys prepared for this event.
Daniela/Pat – once again thank you so very much for taking the time to update us on the latest news on our guys. I hadn’t seen this come – but, of course, who else could fill in this awesome task? Il Volo was the perfect choice in all aspects and did an amazing job of which the Pope and Italy can be so proud! Their voices were even more pure and beautiful than I recall and merged with the orchestra, choir and environment into an awesome sensual experience. Beyond perfection. They know how to adapt to a situation and with a mix of elegance, respectful manners and youthful spirit they were a value added bonus to the event.
And what an event! Huge and awesome. Not personally being a believer nor being familiar with the Catholic faith and its traditions (the official faith in Denmark is Lutheran) I am not able to evaluate or express an opinion on the event as such – but it looked amazing and impressive. The event was only briefly mentioned in our news programs, but I feel convinced that the event has been a huge experience to those present and/or being able to follow it on TV. And it must have been a fantastic and unforgettable experience for Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca to have been a part of. What an honor! Likewise thank you so very much Daniela for sharing your experience and thoughts in this respect.
Best regards – Kirsten
You’re most welcome, Kirsten! 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the guys at this event. I was very moved and I love Pope Leo, not only because I am Catholic. He brings a new life into the church and seems to be liked by people of all faiths. I am in the choir at my church. Did you know that I also sang at the Episcopal church? Their service is very close to the Catholic Mass. I had to pay close attention as some of the prayers had a few different words and I knew the Catholic versions! 😂 And also the Lutheran services are very close to the Catholic. My paternal Grandmother was Lutheran and converted to Catholicism when she married my Grandfather.
Yes, Kirsten, exactly. The event was magnificent, and of course, for us Catholics, it was the best. But it’s wonderful that those who aren’t exactly Catholic recognize the majesty of the event, which brought together young people from all over the world, of all ethnicities, united by days of prayer for a better world and peace.
It was a great honor for Il Volo to participate in this event, and for us, it was so moving and satisfying to hear them sing in such a context.
How beautiful and uplifting this whole performance was. We can be thankful that our Il Volo seem to be the only popular group who deserve to be included in this celebration. Although I am not a “church goer”, I try to be kind and helpful to those among us who need it. Many hugs to you all, Dol. 🧡🧡
Sending love and hugs to you, Dolores!😊😘🤗
Dolores was a wonderful event, and Il Volo certainly deserved to be there.
If we all showed respect and helpfulness toward others, we would have solved many problems already, so yours is an excellent approach.
Every thing was beautiful and I’m glad they sang madnificat. It was beautiful with everyone singing and or orchestra too. Loved everything of the jubilee ❤️🙏✝️
I loved when people sang grande amore to Il volo
Hello Daniela and Pat, once again great coverage of the Jubilee. Just feel so proud of them and they are so blessed to be included in the Jubilee and to meet the new Pope.
58 Daniela
Beautiful posts, videos and pictures. I loved Magnificat and jubilee hymn . Il volo magnificent forever ❤️🙏✝️
