Il Volo: “We feel at home in Greece” – The three Italian tenors who have conquered the world.
The famous Italian trio speaks exclusively to the program “STASI ERT3,” following their second concert in Thessaloniki and just hours before their appearance on the island of Corfu.
Expressing their love for Greece and the Greek audience, Il Volo gave an interview to journalist Tania Moschopoulou during their two-concert summer tour in the country.
The internationally renowned Italian trio—who performed on Monday evening (July 27) at the Earth Theater in Thessaloniki before traveling to Corfu—stated that every return to Greece is a special experience.
“We feel at home because we have so much in common: history, culture, great music, and exquisite food. The people here are very warm, just like in Italy. That is why we feel truly fortunate to be back sharing our music with the Greek audience,” they said.
Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble expressed their deep gratitude for the affection shown to them by their Greek fans over the years.
“We are very happy to be back here and grateful to our audience in Greece. Their support allows us to do what we love most,” they emphasized.
Speaking of their musical identity, Il Volo emphasized that they remain faithful to the tradition of Italian *bel canto*, continuing the legacy of great composers such as Giacomo Puccini, Gioacchino Rossini, and Giuseppe Verdi.
“We are committed to spreading this musical tradition worldwide and bringing *bel canto* closer to younger generations,” they stated.
Speaking of their Greek fans, they expressed deep emotion regarding the warm welcome they receive during every visit.
“The Greek people always welcome us with great warmth. It is one of the countries we look forward to returning to every time,” they said.
The renowned Italian trio—who rose to global fame after winning the Sanremo Festival in 2015 and representing Italy at Eurovision—spoke, among other things, of the special bond they have forged with the Greek audience.
“We were taught Greek history in school from the time we were children. It is a crucial part of human history. For us as artists, it is equally important to bring *bel canto* here, because our music has a historical dimension,” they stated.
Il Volo performed at the Earth Theater in Thessaloniki, accompanied by the Thessaloniki Municipal Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Tasos Symeonidis, presenting a program featuring their greatest hits and favorite songs from the international repertoire. After Thessaloniki, their tour of Greece continues with a concert at the Old Fortress of Corfu.

Thank you, Greece, for two incredible shows and incredible days ❤️.”
PIERO = (he is reading a passage from Homer’s *Odyssey*)
“When you set out for Ithaca, you must hope that the journey is long, rich in adventure and experience. Do not fear the Laestrygonians and the Cyclopes (two giant, cannibalistic peoples) or the wrath of Neptune.”
GIANLUCA = Breakfast this morning in Padua, in Este, lunch in Bologna, dinner in Thessaloniki at sunset. Look at this amazing view.
PIERO = Anyway, you only have footage of us eating (he addresses the cameramen).
IGNAZIO = Bees, burnt coffee, and an incredible moon.
PIERO = The problem is that at 30, you should be running a 4:30, not a 5:45 (running times).
Good morning.
GIANLUCA = We had some wonderful days in Greece, Thessaloniki and Corfu and now we’re heading back to Italy to wrap up the final leg of the tour.
A wonderful experience, two great concerts in Greece, and always so much affection and admiration from Il Volo fans.
We’re heading back to Italy for the upcoming concerts.
See you soon, Daniela 🤗

What a fantastic feeling to see my most beloved trio performing in the country of my ancestors! I only wish I could have been there to attend the concerts and watch them against those magnificent backdrops! Last year I happened to be in Greece and was hoping to go when they performed in Athens but…it was sold out! Hopefully, there will be other concerts in the not so distant future! In any event, I will definitely be there when they come to Boston in November!
Maria, they were two special events, truly beautiful, surrounded by so much warmth and affection.

Hi thank u as always. Giving lovely info on the concerts in Greece. The venues look amazing.
The ragazzi adding their wonderful concert. Always funny and harmonious together. They looked handsome. Gianluca hair is amazing every woman’s dream to have perfect thick hair.
Piero and Ignazio having fun as usual.
Hopefully after tonight in Forte di Marmi they have a few days rest before going on to next venues.
Thank u again
Buon Dominica and good wishes for a new month. 🥰😎
Fenella, you’re right as always; our guys are putting in a tremendous effort, yet they always deliver top-notch concerts. It’s not time for them to rest just yet—there are two concerts next week, followed by a well-deserved break before Taormina.
Ok, are the ragazzi resting now till the 7 th, then 2 concerts and have there big break before Sicily and the rest of Italy, certainly deserve it.
At least they do not have too far to travel .
Thank u again
Keep cool.
❤️❤️❤️
Just curious, why didn’t you post a video of Gianluca’s solo.
Kaye, simply because I couldn’t find any at the time—sometimes they get released after the post has already gone live. But I’ve found some really great videos now with wonderful commentary; stay tuned, you’re going to love them—I’ll be posting them next week.
Seems like the guys have enjoyed themselves thoroughly in Greece. And they always speak so well about the host/hosting country in which they perform. But they had fun outside the concert venues is obviously- enjoying splashing in pools, sailing the waters – and keeping fit running. And Gianluca never having a moment alone with his family coming over – so do guess that Greece has a special place in their heats. A million years ago my hubby and I were enjoying a holiday in Corfu and I could recognize more places from their footage albeit I believe the island has changed entirely since now being a major tourist magnet.
Warmest regards – Kirsten🇩🇰
Kirsten, Il Volo received a great reception in Greece too, and they really enjoyed themselves.
It’s wonderful that you were able to recognize places that you and Steen have seen!
