Beautiful anticipation of details, details, details!! (; >)
And yes, Piero, I’m acknowledging that your name should be next to Love Story on your exciting Radio City Music Hall Play List!
Loved your “speechless” video, boys!
I’ll have to wait to read more until after I teach a workshop tomorrow.
Meanwhile…
I KNOW how wonderful it was because, after I awoke from my nap, which was strategically timed during the concert so I could attend “in my dreams”, I noticed my cheeks hurt ~ that kind of hurt like you’ve been smiling so hard and long that the muscles are over-worked!
How cool is that?!
I don’t have any specific memories, but my kitty came and napped with me, and he was totally zonked and didn’t want to wake up. I think he was in a sweet “silent reverie”!
Love and woo hoo!! Ignazio, Gianluca, Piero… you ROCK!!

Il Volo in New York – Sept. 27, 2013
This was not exactly the night I had been looking forward to so you have my apology for a partial review of tonight’s concert. Reason: my party had to make an unscheduled side trip to urgent care due to a medical problem early in the evening. All is ok now ( or at least better than it was ) and later two of us continued on to the concert but we did not get there until the point in the program of ” Il Canto”. Being so late we did not go to our seats but stayed in the back ( I hate that sort of thing when I am in the audience and someone comes in real late).
I hope we get a full report from someone who was there for the whole time. Here is my short report.
One word summary – tears. when we walked into the auditorium and I heard the absolutely wonderful tones of one of my favorite songs – Il Canto – the tears came like a flood. After that it was just a matter of the obvious – all three guys were in full tux – God ! they looked good. I see there are already pics of the concert on line.(shows you how behind the times I am)
But here is something the pics do not show. After these past few intense concert days and just a few days off from concert work and one recording session they sounded even better than three weeks ago or two weeks ago the last time I saw this concert. Those voices have become even more rich and sublime !
The program order – from what I saw was the same and according to the play list on line they only switched the order of two songs Questo Amore and We Are Love. This concert had full orchestra of 30 players (including full strings, winds and harp) That really sounded great in Radio City. Even my pet peave of follow spots was handled well here in RCMH. I may have noticed just a little nervous energy but it only makes sense. That is a sign they were serious about this special concert. Piero was even more expansive in vowel use. Ignazio really showed his lyric and floating tenor to its best. Gianluca has enriched those extra low notes he has gained in the past two months. WOW ! what a sound. (I think I am repeating myself – Oh, well. )
The BOYS WERE TURNED ON to 1000 horsepower. You could tell they really thought this was a top class concert and they gave it their all. Even the little portion I saw confirmed what I have thought for some time now: Il Volo is the most musical ensemble working today. They have the best arrangements now on stage. 2nd most important to me they have the best natural instruments in our time and 1st most important those instruments are owned by the three most wonderful, loving and caring gentlemen working today.
For those that saw the whole concert I am anxious to read about the first part. Once again, sorry for the incomplete report. Although, it did not take but one song to know where I was going to end up. Bless them and bless all of you.

OK, I’m up late and had to read before sleep.
Myron, God bless everyone in your party, and thank you from the depths of my heart for such beautiful sharing. What a good heart you have to be with those going to urgent care, knowing you would miss some of the show. I’m sorry for the health issue and that you had to miss even one minute. How perfect, however, that you got to come in on IL Canto and experience the flood of tears. Big hugs!
I am crying here as I read and reread what you said, especially:

I just watched some of the concert on U Tube. Myron, the video I just saw of Piero singing Love Story Theme is the best I have ever seen/heard him do. Was it as terrific in person as it was on the video?
