Hi Everyone,

Tonight’s concert is in Guatemala. There is not a lot of information on the venue, so I thought you might enjoy a little history of the country itself. The photo above is of Myan ruins.

Guatemala,[6] officially the Republic of Guatemala (Spanish: República de Guatemala [reˈpuβlika ðe ɣwateˈmala]), is a country in Central America bordered by Mexico to the north and west, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, Belize to the northeast, the Caribbean to the east, Honduras to the east and El Salvador to the southeast. Its area is 108,890 km2 (42,043 sqmi) with an estimated population of 13,276,517.

A representative democracy, its capital is Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, also known as Guatemala City. The former Mayan civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization, which continued throughout the Post-Classic period until the arrival of the Spanish. They had lived in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, the southern part of Mexico and eastern parts of El Salvador.

Guatemala’s abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems contributes to Mesoamerica’s designation as a biodiversity hotspot.[7]

After independence from Spain in 1821, Guatemala was a part of the Federal Republic of Central America and after its dissolution the country suffered much of the political instability that characterized the region during mid to late 19th century. Early in the 20th century, Guatemala had a mixture of democratic governments as well as a series of dictators, the last of which were frequently assisted by the United Fruit Company and the United States government. From 1960 to 1996, Guatemala underwent a civil war fought between the government and leftist rebels. Following the war, Guatemala has witnessed both economic growth and successful democratic elections. In the most recent election, held in 2011, Otto Pérez Molina of the Patriotic Party won the presidency.

Twitters, Tweets and Keeks:

Gianluca tweets another beautiful photo. He said yesterday, ” Finally we arrived in Guatemala, I can’t wait to see you all our #Ilvolovers”

Piero: “Reading letters,” tweeted photo of many letters spread out from his fans.
He later sent from Brabble “Warming up” http://app.brabble.com/b/5266bcb0c645756851008dbd

Ignazio: “Xmas is coming!!! #Buon Natale available”

Check out Team Il Volo for several articles “Trio Il Volo Will Make their Fans Fly,” “Majestic performance of Il Volo in Nicaragua,” and “Il Volo: “Buon Natale is here”

See Mundial for some good videos and photos.

All things Il Volo also has some interesting photos and videos.

Interesting side news, Andrea Bocelli has bought a home here in North Miami Beach. Interviewed on the news, he said he and his family love Florida, especially the weather. We all remember his advice to Gianluca after he won the talent contest. Gianluca was very moved by his words.

Tomorrow’s concert is in Honduras.

Love and Luck tonight, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca!

  1. I have been listening all day. People at work hate me. They were doing that Christmas hum-bug thing. Too bad.

Thanks for the history lesson, Linda. Again, it’s nice to come home and have news of the boys here.

Linda, I think you should invite Andrea Bocelli over for a “Hi New Neighbor” dinner! And me too of course. Find out if The Boys are busy that night. I’m sure they would like to come too.

    1. That sounds exciting! Andrea and Gianluca…oh and Piero and Ignazio. Count me in, Please!!! I will bring desserts.

  2. Off topic, but I just have to share this.

Have you seen this PROMO for IL VOLO on YouTube?
Anima 5 Il Volo Promo 2013 Coliseo de Puerto Rico

Love it, even though I don’t speak the language. And I love their harmony at the end! (Only found one recorded song, along with quite a few videos on their Anima5music YouTube playlist.)

Anyone willing to share a general idea of what Anima 5 said about our IL VOLO brothers? I can tell it was lovely!
