IN CASE YOU MISSED IT..

Report

Hi Everyone,

Only 5 days left until Il Volo goes home to Italy to spend the holidays with their family and friends!!  Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca hit the ground running on November 17th in LA and have not stopped yet. They did have a few days off here and there, but have been busy pretty much most of the time. They have done tree lighting ceremonies, appearances and signings. They have taped songs for TV shows and been on radio programs and done interviews. They went to The Mall of America and had money floated on them as they sang! They, of course met with our 3 ladies, Mary, Jane and Allene! This past Sunday they appeared at a wine and dine in Detroit, attended by our own Christine! They went from there to Detroit PBS for the new showing of their special, “Buon Natale”. They were in Washington on Tuesday and then headed for Boston and New York!! They are now headed for Orlando. They will finally fly home on December 10th. It will not stop there: on December 14th they are part of a Christmas Program at The Bacilica of St Francis of Assissi in Assissi, Italy. The program, according to our friend Mlla will be broadcast throughout Italy on December 25th, Christmas day! We have no way of knowing if the program will be aired here in the USA, if I get any information I will let you know!!!

Piero, Ignazio and GIanluca have just finished a long tour and are just about to finish another Promo here in the USA. They must be in awe of the places they’ve been and the people they’ve met in the last four years!  Through all of this they have been the model of professionalism, they have always been gentleman, and they have always treated their fans with love and respect!! . It is no wonder they have such loyal and devoted following. We  admire and love them. Enjoy the next few days, Guys! soon you’ll be home with your families!

  1. Wonderful summary of the guys latest doings in the USA. I can’t even begin to imagine how excited they must be just knowing they will be in their home country much less their OWN homes SOON! I do so hope we get to see their performance in Assissi. It will be magnificat!!!!! Can you imagine THEM singing Ave Maria or O Holy Night in one of the most beautiful churches in the world? OMG…I pray we get to see them do this! Thanks again for the great update!

    1. Our guys are #1! (But we already knew that…) I got my Buon Natale DVD today and I’m happy, happy, happy!

  2. Whew! I got tired just reading what they’ve been through lately.
Pretty slick having pictures with the tweets!
Last paragraph was beautiful Linda. They have always behaved like the sweet, humble gentlemen they are. You know that had to, many times, be a task. Nonetheless, they persevered! They were impeccable this trip!
I currently have the emotions of a lunatic. Go! Don’t Go! Enjoy being home! Get back here now!

    1. Marie, you said it well! Go! Don’t go! I love it. I feel the SAME way!! We’ll miss them, but I have no doubt that they will keep us up on where they are and what they’re up to. They love US, too! They bring me such happiness I can’t stand it, you know? It’s wonderful!

  3. Marie, you hit the nail on the head with your last two sentences. I agree completely with them. I do so want Our Boys to get back to the comfort of their own families, even while I’m thinking what a long time it will be before they are back here with us.. I am hoping they will have plenty of time with their friends, so they can act like young men and not celebrities. And Linda, that was a great summary
of the busy and magical time they have been having. Have a safe trip home Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca! And remember we love you dearly!

  4. Linda, Joanie!!! 2-1/2 hours to Orlando. I’ll pick you gals up and away we go to Disneyworld!!!!!! Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Linda, you write so well. Thank you always for the information.

  5. I just came on the internet and get the news that they are in Orlando! 1/2 hour from me!!! I am in shock, I am not going to be able to sleep tonight, this is too much. I wonder if it has to do with the supposed movie Disney wants to make of them? they sure get around. one place one day, another place next day. I too am counting the days for them to get home.
I believe that the Christmas concert at St. Francis of Assisi will be broadcast on EWTN, I will have to look up the schedule for December.
Linda, I loved when you said “they sang in Mall of America and had money floating on them as they sang” and it was true.

  6. Hi Linda, do you get Italian national TV channel called RAI 1 ? that’s where it will be broadcasted, some programs are internationally broadcasted via Rai International channel, hope u all can get it.

  7. Thanks so much, Linda and mlla!

Seems like it’s been touring season forever. It will be odd to adjust to The Boys being at home relaxing. I’m glad Home is just around the corner for you, Ignazio, Piero, and Gianluca! I’ll miss your regular YouTube videos, at the same time that I’ll be so happy for your time to rest and rejuvenate.

And then… I’ll be curious what’s happening behind the scenes… Disney? new songs for another album and tour? You guys definitely know how to build anticipation! (; >)

Wishing you a joyous Christmas with your families!

And maybe some day tea with 109-year-old music lover and musician Alice Herz!

    Sweet night,

  10. Well, the guys are exhausted–though they ARE having fun in Disney World!!–but great news! Buon Natale is number ONE for classical albums Billboard for the week of December 14. They Made it, happen and they deserve it!

  11. Hello all, I thought it was hard enough trying to keep track of them during the two tours, but since then it has been even more exhausting. It’s a good thing they have people with them who know the who, what, when, and where. Not only has it been a tremendous amount of flying, and appearances, but all the other wonderful things happening to, and for them. Magazine spreads both here (People Magazine) and in Italy, honors, etc. Seems like every day it’s something else. They seem to be everywhere. Very exciting, and of course, well deserved. Lots of hints about things to look for next year! Hope they actually get to go home on the 10th. Just amazing for them all of a sudden. Blessings guys!

    1. Good to hear from you, Kitty!

I’m looking for the People Magazine spread. Do you have the date for the article?

      Thanks, and yay!
      ~ Jeanine D.

      1. Jeanine, it’s already on the stands. I saw it in the grocery store this morning. As Linda said, it is just a review, but still, People magazine. How awesome!

      2. Thanks Linda, Kitty, and LeeLee! I found a People magazine on the stands dated Dec. 16th, looked through every page, and didn’t see the Buon Natale review. I’m guessing it’s in Dec. 9th and may go back out to another store to see if I can find Dec. 9th copy of People. Any input on the edition date?

        Thanks so much!
        ~ Jeanine D.

      3. Hi Jeanine, the picture on All Things Il Volo indicates it is the December 16th edition. It has a picture of GMA’s anchor on the cover with a picture of actor Paul Walker in the upper left corner. Hope this helps.

      1. Thanks so much, Kelly! I see that Mundial has a snapshot of the People review. Very complimentary … perfect reflection about Our Guys and Buon Natale!

        ~ Jeanine D.

  12. I tend to generalize a bit more – with the exception of a few two or three day breaks they have been working almost non-stop through half of August, all of Sept, all of Oct. all of Nov. (a few days here) and now half of Dec. But I wonder if they are being used wisely (hate the word “used”) – not so many TV shows this year. Today for Christmas, Leno again before Christmas, Ellen, Good Morning America, Kelly and Michael for Christmas, Dave Letterman, etc.

It was nice to hear about the Billboard placement on Christmas albums. Great Work. Re: lack of timely information: trying to work on that again.

  13. Jeanine, Sounds like someone found it, looked today in the grocery store, but did not see a cover as depicted on Ativ. Did see picture of Paul Walker in upper left corner, but nothing about IL VOLO on the bottom. The review is about Buon Natale, and is , I hear, quite small, but even just being noticed in People Magazine is a good thing. YEA! I will look again tomorrow more closely. Sorry I’m not any more help. They are really on the move, and becoming more known, and loved. I hate to say this, but after seeing how busy they have been, STILL, I’m really wanting them to get home!

  14. Thanks, Kelly! I’ll go look again tomorrow. That will help me find it. Thanks, too, Kitty. Yes… home for Our Boys!

I just had a most amazing synchronicity.
I’m working on an IL VOLO interviews playlist, so today I was listening on YouTube to
    IL VOLO Bombox All Access

I stopped to watch a lovely PBS concert of Ethan Bortnick (12-year-old pianist, composer, singer leading a beautifully uplifting concert). He is also a philanthropist. This was the first I learned of Ethan. (Apparently he started piano at 3, composing at 5 years old, and he was on Oprah when he was 7.) And in addition to talent and enthusiasm, he’s go heart!

Then I went back to finish watching the IL VOLO interview, and at 12:10 Ethan meets Piero, and Piero jokes with him, swapping names. I don’t know that Piero knew who Ethan was (neither did I first time I saw this interview).
What are the odds? Curious synchronicity!

    Just had to share!

  15. Mryon, what causes the horseness in Piero’s voice. I’m just curious. Is it because his is voice is just tired. I have noticed it in both of the videos- We Are Love and the Christmas video-PBS. He has such a beautiful voice as well as Gianluca and Ignazio.

  16. I have also noticed in interviews that Piero has coughed a couple of times, and it scares me to dickens! I, too, Jeanne, am worried that his voice is getting tired.

  17. Oh, Piero sounded great on that link! Thanks lijoy! I am really going to miss Our Boys. At the same time, I knowthey really need to be with their families at Christmas time.
