ASCOLI PICENO – The mystery linked to the reservations for the concert of the “Il Volo” trio, which will be held on July 21 in Piazza del Popolo, continues to hold thousands and thousands of fans in suspense. The event, made official by the mayor Marco Fioravanti and by the managers – the entrepreneurs Roberta Faraotti and Stefano Panichi – was announced as a city festival, with free admission reserved for the local population, to be collected at the box office in Piazza del Popolo. But that’s not all, today 5 July, the Canale 5 schedule for the 2023/2024 season was announced, and Il Volo will have three events in prime time.
The new schedule was announced during an evening and introduced by Pier Silvio Berlusconi who is manager and director of the Mediaset Group, of which Canale 5 is the flagship television network.
He is the son of Silvio Berlusconi, founder of Mediaset and entrepreneur who then had important roles in Italian politics until he became Prime Minister. Silvio Berlusconi passed away about a month ago.
Pier Silvio Berlusconi has been romantically linked for 21 years (they are not married) to Silvia Toffanin, whom you know because she is the kind entertainer of Verissimo.
During the evening Il Volo performed three songs: My Way, Hallelujah and Grande Amore.

They stir up unique emotions in me, because on the two Saturdays that aired (All for one concert), my dad called me both times and said: “But how good these guys are, but how exciting they are, please, keep them close.”

But that’s not all, yesterday evening July 7, as promised, Il Volo was a guest during the concert of POOH, the band that had played with them during ALL FOR ONE. The concert takes place in the Milano sold out stadium. It was Il Volo’s first time in a stadium.

PIERO= We want to say, a promise kept, because they came as guests to our show in Verona and there was this invitation live and we kept our promise, you can’t give up … first you can’t give up the POOH and then you can’t give up a performance at San Siro.
GIANLUCA= Furthermore, I believe that young people should have a certain openness of mind, like studying history at school, they should learn to appreciate the music of every era. They have marked more than an era, they are the greatest (Italian) band of all time, reaching 50 years of career is the dream of many artists. I have always followed them thanks to my father. PIERO= This evening we will sing UOMINI SOLI, because it is our favorite song, we have expressly asked to sing it together and we can’t wait to share that moment with their audience who are thrilled to see them on stage.
SPEAKER= There is a lot of professional esteem between you (Pooh and Volo), but also a lot of affection, I know you love each other very much, they love you very much.

It warms my heart to know that our young men finally have been shown the respect they so long deserved. I am so excited that they are going to Greece. The Greek fans have waited a very long time for them to perform live for them. And, in one of the most famous ancient amphitheaters in the world, The Odeon of Herodus Atticus at the base of the Acropolis. According to Ignazio it was not easy to get permission to perform there and took awhile. I will be in the front row! I will wear my Flight Crew badge.

Thanks again Daniela and Pat. I was so impressed with Pooh and when I heard their ages 71 thru 79 they are amazing and so will our guys be at that age, wish I was going to be around that long. Still hoping to hear they will be returning to the states in 2024 Can’t wait to see them again live. Also it is early but looking forward to their Christmas show and all their other events.
That’s right Beverly, Pooh’s age is between 71-79, and they’re super fit, they’ve always been at their peak, sadly their drummer passed away in 2020. I was a fan of them when I was a little girl and my husband’s first gift (at the beginning of our dating) was a Pooh long plain.

But Daniela I don’t really understand the situation of a free concert on July 21 for the locals only. I haven’t heard of it before and don’t get where it is to take place? It says Piazza del Popolo – that’s in Rome, right? But it does likewise state Syracusa, but that’s in Sicily??? Anyhow, not being for foreigners it doesn’t matter, but I am confused. I so much had hoped for an August/September Italian concert in Sicily or southern Italy that I could have combined with some holiday in the sun, but alas, that doesn’t seem like the case this year.
I loved the fine way the guys and The Pooh have collaborated. So much to the benefit of both parts and so great to experience how much they respect each other. I like it very much.

In fact Kirsten, when I saw that you posted the Mediaset video and you wrote “I don’t know exactly what the evening is about”, I thought….. a moment of patience and Pat will publish the explanation!! Naturally I am very happy with Pier Silvio’s nice words and the collaboration with Mediaset, even if here in Italy we all expected those words from RAI which is the national network, the television network where Il Volo was born. As for the concert in the square with free admission, in a previous post I explained that it is an initiative of a manager of a company based in Ascoli Piceno, who to celebrate 30 years of activity wanted the Il Volo concert in square in Ascoli Piceno (central Italy) and was for residents of Ascoli. The problem arose because the municipality of Ascoli had many requests from abroad to assist and also from the rest of Italy, so they had to figure out how to give entry only to residents. The article then ends in a nice way by writing “that appeals to everyone from Sondrio to Syracuse” (they are two cities at the extremes, Sondrio is to the north, Syracuse in Sicily), as if to say from north to south!! However, ticket booking starts tomorrow morning, only two tickets each for residents. I hope I have clarified everything well for you, a hug!

As to the situation with the “free” concert I see, however, that Torpedine and their management have done a bit of wrong planning for the guys this summer as clearly there have been – is – a demand for minimum a couple of Italian concerts one of which ought to be in Sicily. They would be fully booked in no time and our of the country fans would flee to them. Well we’ll just have to survive and hope for next summer. Hugz.❤️

Daniela, what is the main genre of music performed by the the Poohs?
Mark, the Pooh essentially perform pop, but it is a pop that also makes use of the support of the orchestra in musical performances. When I was a little girl and I listened to them assiduously, my dad told me that he appreciated them because they blended well the typical instruments of boy bands (guitar, drums) with the strings of orchestras. Also they have always had an image of good guys, with good attitudes, never related to drug stories, just like our guys, and some of their songs would be perfect for our guys. The first time they sang together (Pooh and Volo in 2013) they performed PIERRE a beautiful Pooh song that I attach to you. Furthermore, when there was the scandal of the press room jury in Sanremo against Il Volo in 2019, Francesco Facchinetti, son of Dodi (the front man, pianist and organist) immediately took the defense of Il Volo against the journalists.
