On Saturday 24 February, Il Volo was a guest on “C’è posta per te”, a show on Canale 5, hosted by Maria De Filippi.
For those who don’t know the format, I’ll give a brief summary.
There are people who, for any reason, have argued in life and when one of the litigants wants to get closer to the other person, write to Maria and explain what happened due to the separation. Maria sends a postman to the contact person with an invitation to the program, without explaining who sends the invitation. When the person accepts and comes to the studio, finds himself in front of a large closed envelope and from a video he sees who sent him the invitation. At this point can decide to listen to the person who asked you and then let them speak. Maria mediates in all of this, trying to act as a bridge between the two people. In the end the person who listened can decide to open the envelope (i.e. meet the person who spoke), or close the envelope and leave without meeting the other person.
There are also people who write to give a gift to a very dear person, to thank them for their dedication, and this is the case in which Il Volo intervened, as a surprise for Mrs. Anna, who was called on the show, by her sons, to thank her for her affection and availability towards them.
Anna became a widow in 2017 and her children decided to write to the program: “Our mother always says that she can’t be happy because dad is no longer with her”, theirs was a love story that lasted many years, and which was interrupted by his death.
I attach the entire video of the story, as you notice Il Volo entered at the beginning, preceded by a beautiful video that summarizes some beautiful moments of the concerts and their career. After greetings with Maria who admires Ignazio’s physical form, our boys reach their place and Anna’s two sons enter. At this point there is a long introduction of the various moments of Anna and her husband’s life and then Anna sees Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio and is very happy, they are her favorite singers.

IGNAZIO= No, no!!

ANNA= My love, how beautiful you are!😍😍😍😍
IGNAZIO= I learned that the lady has a weakness for me, so!!🥰😂
GIANLUCA= She has a weakness.
PIERO= You have always been the grandmothers’ favorite.
ANNA= No, no, not this time, you are all three the same.
PIERO= Can we address each other on first terms? (In the Italian language, you speak in the third person to people you don’t know).
ANNA= Yes, of course, I’m your grandmother!
GIANLUCA= Of course, so you have to talk to grandma!
MARIA= Gianluca, everyone sit down.
IGNAZIO= Let’s sit down.
PIERO= Listening to this story is incredible because today we talk a lot about education, perhaps our hectic life doesn’t allow us… (meanwhile Anna kisses Ignazio and Gianluca 😘, not to be less, she kisses Piero 😘😂 people laugh )…..but will you stop? I’m trying to say something serious……. (applause) .
MARIA= Come on Piero, you were making a serious speech.
PIERO= Today perhaps the hectic life we live does not allow parents to dedicate a lot of time to the education of their children, so we feel privileged people and I believe and hope there is still a lot of hope because you Anna and her husband, with the story that we listened to, you demonstrated education to your children, you demonstrated value, affection, and this is the result, with your smile. (applause).
It is with these stories, which are really rare to hear, that we should stop and understand what the small daily gestures are that make you understand what happiness is.
ANNA= Nothingness made us happy, nothingness.
IGNAZIO= If I can say one thing, I had the same experience as your children, unfortunately, I lost my dad…..
ANNA= I know, I know, I know everything.
IGNAZIO= You know everything, I’ll keep quiet (laughter), no, but…. with my mother we learned that love never ends, even if a person goes away, even if a person is no longer in our life, it’s not true that it no longer exists, because it exists in everything, in every gesture, in every sensation…..so love never ends, and you think that the people who love us, they can’t wait to see us happy, and only if we are happy, they are happy. (applause)
ANNA= You know, 44 years old, it’s 44 years (Anna and her husband have been married for 44 years, applause)
IGNAZIO= I know, but life goes on.
PIERO= (to Anna) Wait, wait, after such a beautiful speech I want to see what he (Gianluca) has to say to you.
GIANLUCA= Oh, me?
IGNAZIO= Give her a sexy face.

IGNAZIO= A very important question, is it arancino or arancina? (Sicilian specialty consisting of a ball of rice with ragù inside, very good)
ANNA= Love, it’s arancino! (depending on the areas of Sicily it is called arancino or arancina)
IGNAZIO= (does not approve and puts his hand on his heart, people laugh)
ANNA= Let’s not argue, in Palermo it’s arancina, in Catania it’s called arancino and we all agree.
IGNAZIO= So, I’m your arancino! (laughs) 😂
ANNA=Okay! You all are my loves! 🥰
PIERO= This year we are celebrating 15 years of our career…. there is no reason to applaud, imagine 15 years of the two of us (him and Gianluca) together with that subject (Ignazio. laughter)

MARIA= Wait Ignazio, Lorenza (Anna’s daughter) is here and she wants to say something and then I’ll ask her.
LORENZA= So, as you can see, life surprises us, so there will be no shortage of other beautiful things in our lives, let’s hope. We promise to never leave you alone and to always be there, but you must promise to rejoice and no longer have this sense of guilt. I don’t know what to say regarding the presence of Il Volo, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca seemed like this to me – polite, sensitive, loving, affectionate and even sportingly elegant, this is my opinion, it’s a shame that they didn’t sing, but they told me that no guest sings on this show. 🥰🥰🥰
While they were backstage at the show, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca were asked a really fun question game, on their ability… Good fun. 😂

Hi Daniela, thank you very much for the translation of the video with Anna. I am from Germany and learned for two years Italien 20 years ago but forget most. I listened to the interview several times but they spoke too fast and so the undertitels (?) were also too fast. It was very interesting and I smiled the whole time about the three young men. I saw them the first time on the TV 10 weeks ago. They are so nice and funny and have the best voices I‘ve ever heard.

Yes, I really love them very much and think every day of them. Meanwhile I have watched the videos of the last years and the interviews. For more than 20 years I am a fan of Helmut Lotti from Belgium. He also sang the same songs and I visited many concerts. But il Volo are much better. It was really love at first sight when I watched them on TV in December. See you.

Judi, here are the instructions I gave to Dolores: To do the emojis on your computer when you’re in the blog you need to press the Start button (Windows key) that is located on the lower left of your keyboard and the button with the period on it. That will bring up a little emoji menu that you can scroll thru to choose emojis. There are also little category icons at the bottom of that screen to choose then scroll thru. It works anywhere in Windows.
I can’t insert screen shots here in this blog post to show you so let me know if you have questions.

What an experience for Anna. She must still be on cloud nine. Gian, Piero, and Ignazio are caring, thoughtful, empathetic, generous, and loving young men. I was truly touched by Ignazio when he told Anna about the loss of his Dad and that he learned from his mother that love never dies.

Thanks for the translation. What can I say? Luckily the guys seem to be the good old themselves here being so sweet and accommodating to the lady here. I believe they were in a similar situation in this show last year. Always polite and kind. I wonder how they build themselves up to such a meeting – after all this is a PR job and not exactly a fun get together – so what to say to an elderly lady in distress… But they are good at it and no doubt the lady has had an experience of a life time. PS do you have any idea of the reason for Gianluca giving Piero a kiss?
Oh that video of Gianluca singing Capolavo solo in his home is soooo beautiful. I do almost like it better… simple but intense and so passionate. And with the focus on the text, singing and interpretation without disturbing elements… Thanks for sharing.

Oh Daniela – I get so sad reading that the press now is spreading slander and gossip about the three of them breaking up and that Guanluca’s posting on Instagram singing Capolavoro solo – accompanied by one of the writers of the song – in his private home now is interpretated by the press as a proof that he wants to split. Geeezzzz. He has posted videos of himself singing solo at his home, in his car, here, there and every where for years. That doesn’t mean anything but that he loves to sing and cannot help himself not doing it and that he enjoys sharing it with his fans. I wish I knew what to do about that slanderous press 😢
As to Gianluca kissing Piero in the TV show – I just love your explanation which probably is true. I just didn’t think of it. They are just so fun together. Love those guys.
