WORLD TOUR: DUSSELDORF – BERLIN – FRANKFURT by Daniela

Just a couple of days after Barcelona and here we are in Germany for the first of three concerts on German soil.

16 October DUSSELDORF

The concert is in the Mitsubishi Electric Halle.
Since Barbara is no longer here, Torpedine often accompanies Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio in their concerts.🥰🥰

NELLE TUE MANI

NESSUN DORMA

Since the songs are approximately the same, but in particular the fans almost always record the same ones, I try to give you (if I find them) some different videos, such as this fun presentation of the song Capolavoro! 😂
I thank Martina Gerlach-Buntz who I met in Verona and who reads the Flight Crew articles for having made so many beautiful videos that we appreciate!

GIANLUCA= (turning to Piero) First you know what I heard:
“Come on Naro.”
I heard it, but are there any people from Abruzzo?
PEOPLE= Yes!
GIANLUCA= We are all over the world!
PIERO= But if there is one, there is only one!
GIANLUCA= One but good!! (continues in English)
…….and again at the end of the concert…..
GIANLUCA= Thank you, truly.
PIERO= Thank you very much!
GIANLUCA= I just wanted to say that two people from my town are here in the second row, thanks for always being here! Thank you…
PIERO= But they are from Belgium!
GIANLUCA= No, they are from Abruzzo.
PIERO= I want to see your passports!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I would say that everything went well in Dusseldorf too, the public appreciated and laughed together with Il Volo.
Just a day of rest and…..

17 October BERLIN

The concert is at the TEMPODROM, with a beautiful and particular building.
A nice video of some moments from the concerts in Germany, at the end of the video Gianluca says: “We are here in Berlin after sleeping about three hours after the concert in Dusseldorf, we are here this evening, we can’t wait to sing at the Tempodrom.”
Piero warms up his voice backstage

This video is really funny where Piero invites Gianluca and Ignazio to read the names of the German cities where Il Volo concerts will take place in 2025.
Piero’s fun lies in reading the names of the cities in German and Piero sneakily calls Ignazio to read the sixth city which is Leipzig. When Ignazio sees the name of the city he tells Piero and Ignazio that they are “Caini” (traitors) and they laugh in amusement. Ignazio can’t pronounce Leipzig well in German and this is very comical! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s true that the three of them have fun working!!
And everything seems to have gone well in Berlin too, among the audience there was also our friend Janet with her son’s family, I hope everyone enjoyed the concert Janet, let us know your family’s impressions!!
Janet’s son and family in front of the Tempodrom.
Here are the dates that have been listed by Il Volo for next year:
The next and last concert in Germany will be in Frankfurt but there is a day of rest and so do you think that Il Volo will rest??
Not at all, because he participated in a television program of which thanks to Martina Buntz we have the video, but I don’t know German and there is no translation, but I can translate the answers given by Piero Ignazio and Gianluca which are in Italian and so from the answers you can deduce the questions.

IGNAZIO= (I think the presenter asked how the German audience was)
Fantastic as always, we are really happy with the response from the German public and can’t wait to return next year.
PIERO= (I think the presenter said that the best tenors come from Italy)
The best tenors… but you have Kaufmann who is a great tenor. Bel canto was born in Italy, opera is Italian and there are great composers. We were influenced by the legacy that Pavarotti and Bocelli left us, our style is halfway between pop and opera.
GIANLUCA= (the presenter asks about the new album)
This new album is the first unreleased album of our career, it’s called AD ASTRA, it was released in March, at the Sanremo festival with Capolavoro which is the song we sang, however our entire repertoire is based on our tradition but revisited by traditional standards , because our goal is to sing this musical genre but which can also be enjoyed by the new generations, as we also did at Eurovision in 2015.
PIERO= There is one important thing I have to say, next year we will return to some large arenas/sports halls here in Germany.
The song Capolavoro begins.

Some highlights of the evening!
In Frankfurt these days there is the BUCHMESSE event i.e. the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Italian pavilion is present at the fair.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, a few hours before the concert, went to the pavilion, where they were welcomed by Mauro Mazza, Italian journalist and writer and extraordinary commissioner of our government.

CLICK HERE to view the video

The visit of our three young men to the Buchmesse was also broadcast  the day after, on Italian TV.
MAZZA= We were late last night too because there was a wonderful concert by the guys from Il Volo who left seven thousand people in jubilation, spectators present at the Festhstalle which is a few meters from here.
PRESENTER= So let’s watch the video of our meeting here at the Italian pavilion with the Il Volo group before their concert.
What impression did you have of the Italian pavilion and what emotions did this atmosphere arouse?
GIANLUCA= This concept of “square” is very representative of Italy, as we said before, it seems to be in the Temple of Concordia in Agrigento. After 36 years, having a pavilion here is certainly a great source of pride.
IGNAZIO= What we have done in 15 years is also thanks to Italian culture, above all to Italian culture, to the musical heritage that this territory leaves us.
GIANLUCA= It’s nice to see people of all cultures, all nations because our music overcomes the barriers of language and therefore manages to truly conquer everyone and we are proud to be able to bring bel canto around the world.
In this photo: Another Sold Out Award was awarded last week at the Festhalle 👏🏻 for their sold out concert on the 19th. In October, the Italian trio Il Volo received a star on our Wall of Fame 🌟

And now some beautiful photos of the concert.
At the end of the Frankfurt concert we received the news that Piero did not participate in the Meet & Greet due to health problems and that he preferred to immediately go to the emergency room.
However, I can assure you that everything is normal, nothing to worry about, the visit established that there are no alarming problems, we all know how scrupulous Piero is and with such a dense tour, it is better that he had a check-up.
Come on Piero you have all our love!! ❤️
Il Volo has also announced another event in which they will be involved before the end of the year and exactly on December 20th in Malta!!
Instead, now I have to warn you again against fake news.
This ABSOLUTELY FALSE news was published after the Barcelona concert. Now from the photos published you can understand how low these fakes are reduced to. DO NOT LISTEN TO SUCH NEWS which only have the purpose of luring you and then taking money from you!!!
Gianluca is fine and will have our big virtual hug!! ❤️
Instead, here I watched this funny video in which Ignazio was seen listening to the tune of a music box he received as a gift during the Meet & Greet. Did you recognize the melody? It’s the beautiful SE. 🥰

CLICK HERE to view the video

Three more concerts were performed and I must say they were equally successful.
I also admit that the hard work and stress of traveling is starting to make itself felt, but fortunately Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca are three wise men, who do not use their free time for ephemeral entertainment, but rest, they know well that they have great responsibilities successful, for themselves and for the people who follow them on the tour and also for their fans. They are truly admirable, the only outings they allow themselves are for cultural visits and rarely for dinners in important places. It’s nice to know you’re a fan of a band that has a good head on its shoulders!!
But the tour continues and the next concert will be in Greece!!
See you soon: Daniela 🤗

Thank you!!

      .
Thank you Ina for giving us your impressions.
I think it’s really tiring for both the crew and the guys to have to change the concert venue every time and rehearse with a new orchestra but I see that the result is always excellent, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are excellent and serious professionals and the crew that works with them she follows as well and knows that she is very popular with our guys..

    1. Thank you Ursula for confirming that I understood the interview questions from the answers, I appreciate it.
Yes, maybe the interview was arranged at the last minute and they couldn’t rehearse. At first, when I saw that they started with Ignazio to ask the questions, I assumed that they started with him to wish him well on his wedding, but he wasn’t actually mentioned, maybe the presenter didn’t even know it..
      .

      .
Ursula, when the boys touch each other behind their backs, it’s because their microphone regulator is positioned there.
I believe that Piero noticed that he had a voice problem and was trying to adjust the microphone as best as possible, however everything was resolved, Piero is fine, as are Ignazio and Gianluca.

    1. Yes, Susananna, you mean in 2025, I confirm that they will come from February to March, be ready, as soon as we know the dates we will communicate them to you immediately.

      1. YAY!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖💖💖🇺🇸cannot wait for February and March…hoping they’ll come to Florida, everyone down here could use some ILVOLO loving!😉

      2. Does this include Canada 58Daniela?
Worst time of year for most travel but makes me wonder if they may be in one place and not travelling around? Not going to speculate BUT will wait for further info!

  4. As always Daniela and Pat and many contributors have allowed us a glimpse of these beautiful concerts. My grandparents were from Frankfurt and Hamburg, really lovely places.
I do worry about the schedule our guys keep, it has to be hard on them even at 30! Prayers for Piero and all three to stay healthy and “rested”.
Sending them and all of you hugs and much love on this gorgeous Fall day!
    Affectionately, Carol💖💖💖🎼🎶🎵🎤🤗🩷😘🙏🏻☮️🇺🇸

    1. Thank you Carol, you are always generous with your compliments and available to support the kids with your prayers.
Yes the tour is really stressful, but since I know that the three of them are not reckless guys, I think they have assessed their strengths well. The young singer who won Sanremo this year and after the victory began a long tour, just yesterday announced that she is stopping the tour because her health cannot support these crazy rhythms…….. .naturally my thoughts went to Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, the three of them have supported this frenetic pace for years, but I also know, by their admission, that when they are on tour they don’t allow themselves a social life precisely to encourage rest.

      .
In fact, Malgorzata, confirm that Piero was not at the Meet & Greet, I knew it, he immediately after the concert went to the emergency room accompanied by Torpedine, but immediately after the visit they returned saying that everything was fine. Piero is very conscientious and immediately wanted to get a medical opinion to reassure himself.
As for the organization of the evening, I think it depends on the promoters, they also choose the locations.
Well done for following Il Volo in Germany too, they will soon arrive in Poland too.

  6. Well done ladies! Looking forward to February and March 2025. Not good timing for northeastern USA but we will pray for good traveling weather to see our boys.

    1. Glad you liked it, Rose Marie! I’m with you about the cold weather. The first and only time I have attended a concert was in the middle of March 2017 in Chicago. There was still a little snow on the sides of the streets and it was COLD! 🥶

  7. Unfortunately RoseMarie I was hoping they would come at a warmer time, but honestly you all want to see them so much you couldn’t resist until summer I guess!

  8. Well gals, just come on down and see them with me in warmer Florida. (At least I’m hoping they’ll be here as they usually are on the US tour.)

      1. Love IL VoLo
it’s a shame they didn’t come to the US this year maybe in 2025

  9. Judi Edward’s, no question about it. Wherever they will be in Florida, I will be there. Hope to see you.

    1. Thank you Daniela and Pat for all the work you put into bringing us all the information on these concerts. The venues are beautiful and the boys of course are amazing. I also enjoy hearing from the ladies who write in about their experiences at the concerts. It makes them even more interesting. I really like the singer Cecille. She has a beautiful voice and fits in nicely with the boys. Being from upstate New York I was also hoping the boys would come a couple of months later. I guess we’ll just have to say alot of prayers for good weather . Also praying that the boys stay healthy.

      1. Cathy, I also like to read the reviews of those who have attended concerts and I am pleased to see that recently several women have given us their version, excellent!
I can’t yet give you an extremely positive opinion of Cecille, I understand that she is a good solo singer, it doesn’t seem to me that her voice blends perfectly with those of our boys, in fact the song Caruso, sung together at first, was immediately abandoned for Amazin Grace which seems to me to be better.
You’re right, the period in which they will come to you is not really the best, it takes all your love to overcome these difficulties and I believe that Il Volo is aware of this.

  10. Another concert and more postings by Daniela, Patti and Jill Korm. I wonder who should be more tired, our Terrific Three or our ladies from the Flight crew??? It’s quite a loving chore to read the comments and watch the videos. I spend hours at my computer just to keep up to date.

Early Spring (???) is not the best time to be in Canada, unless you live here and are used to the COLD!! Hope our young men survive their concert (s) in Canada, without any bad/sad effects from the weather. From a Canadian who has spent nearly 93 years in the “icebox” we call HOME! Hugs, Dol.

    1. Honestly Dolores, I think our Terrific Three should be more tired! 😃 I don’t know how they do all that they do!

    2. Hi Dolores, you spend hours reading all the posts and comments and I spend hours writing to inform you, ha ha ha and your compliments always make me very happy.
February is not exactly ideal for traveling on the road, you’re absolutely right, we can only hope for a slightly milder winter especially with little ice, fingers crossed.

  11. Thanks Daniele and Pat for taking us by the hand through the 3 German concerts. It was a pleasure to read and learn.

But what a stressful program for their brief stay in that country… – and it does actually worry me to read that they did only sleep for 3 hrs. between the concerts in Düsseldorf and Berlin and that Piero needed to see a doctor following the one in Frankfurt and hence had to skip taking part in the M&G arrangement same night. After all they are no longer 17 years old and their voices are their “tools” that need to be top tuned around the clock. Actually, I did long wonder how they could manage those two concerts without a day in between as the mere travel takes most of a the day no matter what means of transportation they use. Plus they need time for sound-check and possible interviews etc. etc. Driving the German free-ways is pure Hell with the one road-work following the next and long queues everywhere, so I suppose they rent a private jet, but even so it takes a lot of time to get to/from the airports and through same. And they are not used to the damp, wet and cold North European autumn weather, so they can so easily catch a cold or flu in similarity with the rest of us – so I truly worry about them and cross my fingers that they shall be able to keep up the steam and stay healthy the last two weeks. But then they really need a good long break to recuperate as coming January it seems that they are going to continue with yet a very tight concert program before lifting off for the US/Canada…
It has truly been a delight to follow their performances this fall – they seem so relaxed and comfortable on stage joking and teasing each other and moving freely about with big smiles on their faces. Especially Gianluca seems to have evolved and apparently finding himself in a good place these days – laughing and fooling around more than ever. I think they will look back on 2024 as being a very successful year – a year where they re-established themselves as top pro international artists being able to satisfy any audience around the world. And now likewise fully acknowledged in their own country. More than 20 fully sold out Italian concerts testify to that. It cannot get much better .

I do, however, think they did an error inviting Cecille along…. I have now re-listened to the sniplets of their duets, and in all honesty, she doesn’t add anything to their performances – in the contrary. Her voice is ordinary and her singing skills far from perfection – she is simply not able to meet the high quality demands that are needed to match our guys. She is young and talented but far from ready to go international on the big European stages. I trust the guys have invited her as a kind gesture – maybe relating to their own days back in the US when Barbara Streisand asked them to join her – but there is a huge difference. Our guys were gifted from birth with voices beyond compare as well as a natural ability to charm their audiences. They have to see this project through now, but I hope they have learned. Don’t get me wrong – sometimes a guest singer can add to a performance – also when it comes to Il Volo. Whenever they invite an opera singer to join them, we do always witness Piero performing even better enjoying the challenge of a pro match – and the song is lifted even further. Personally, I had hope, that Helene Fischer would have accepted their invitation to join them (given back in December, where they were guests on her big TV Show), but apparently for one reason or another this didn’t work out. Her voice does, however, sound very well with the guys and she has the needed professional approach to play up to the guys on stage. I hope, though, that they will repeat the invitation and invite her to join them in Verona next year at one of the Tutti per Uno Shows – that would be great!

PS: You did fine with the German translations Daniela – but it would all have been even more fun if the guys had tried to pronounce the names of the German towns for their next year concerts in the German language. Too easy to do i.e. Köln and München in the English versions (Cologne and Munich). I bet Ignazio would have had a very hard time doing that and we would have had a huge laugh – but I appreciate them trying.

    Warmest greetings from Kirsten, Denmark

      1. Oh my. I was thinking the same thing. She didn’t harmonize well , but I’m no professional singer but I sing in church choir and can tell difference.

    2. I agree about Cecille. Didn’t harmonize well with them but I’m no professional singer but I do sing in church choir for years. Maybe I should not have said anything. As the saying goes, if you don’t have anything good to say, keep quiet.

I love reading everyone else’s posts. Take care

    3. Dear Kirsten, I agree with you on everything. In fact, speaking of Cecille, just today I responded to a comment by writing that her voice doesn’t seem to fit very well with those of our kids. It’s an honor to know that Il Volo is occasionally interested in new singers to give a great opportunity, but I think other duets were better.
Yes, this tour is quite stressful but as I have already said, there is recovery time and the seriousness and professionalism of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca means that once the concerts are over they don’t waste resources on nightclubs or nightlife, otherwise they would certainly have a collapse.
Think that I had prepared a post in case there was a blank period of news from them, but instead I find myself chasing the news to be able to post as much as possible and update you on what has happened and Pat often has to add things to posts ready to be published!
However, I am happy with the great success that Il Volo is having everywhere and I believe that this makes up for all their tiredness.

      1. Wonderful article! I’m so glad their tour is successful! I love everyone’s pictures and posts too

  12. Helene Fischer singing with the guys was great. I stopped listening when Cecille started embellishing on Caruso. Last night I was watching the ladies ice skating program in Halifax and heard Promise by Laufey being used. Looked her up. She also plays the cello and guitar and looks like she writes songs. Don’t know about harmonizing though. Part Chinese and known there.
Piero probably got a corticosteroid shot to bring down the swelling in his throat. I am worried that the 2 shows in one day in Sofia is too much.
And Pat, it can snow in Chicago until April 15. I went to that 2017 concert because it was dry and no snow was expected that week. Also it was at the Opera House which is only about 2 blocks from the railroad station. Not the Chicago Theatre which is about a mile away from the choochoo.

  13. Will Cecille still sing with Il volo? I read where she will not because of concerts. Is this true? I was not impressed with her

  14. Great article. So happy that their tour is so successful. Love the new songs they have put into their repertoire, Even watching them every night on You Tube still can’t get enough of them. Still waiting for the dates and venues for US. Thank you guys once again for all your hard work.
