Finally we were able to see the 48 hours spent by Nicolò De Devitiis of LE IENE, in the company of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.
Everything was filmed during the 2024 European tour, and exactly during the Paris and Sofia stops.
I translated the entire interview, although I saw that there is a video with the automatic interview (which I attached at the bottom for those who want to see it), but I know that some of you find it difficult to follow the interview with subtitles if the words flow quickly, furthermore some things need to be explained to be better understood, in particular with LE IENE who often ask slightly satirical questions.

I really liked this type of interview, certainly different from the usual, but which led us to understand the profound thoughts towards life and the way of being of our kids. Furthermore, once again we experienced the total and sincere affection that unites these three men.
Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio did not know each other, but they learned to respect and love each other and their bond is immediately understood even by those who, like Nicolò De Devitiis, did not know them personally, but by speaking with them he discovered three unique people who between them have a special relationship.

It’s a question of character, but the two of them (as well as Piero) love each other very much, never doubt this, even if in some attitudes it may seem different to you. On stage Gianluca’s “teasing” is good-natured and agreed upon, Ignazio suffers for his physical condition, he even admitted it, he doesn’t like himself, while he sees Gianluca’s undeniable beauty and suffers a little, but I’m also sure that he appreciates Gianluca’s great humanity and sweetness and affection and shows it in many small gestures of affection that are certainly not easy for Ignazio to do.

Now for Gianluca, he is the epitome of of who he says he is! Private, deep heart and soul with a passion to give to others, elderly, youth, ill and infirm! He is never without a book and I believe they guide his values! When on stage he performs with character, charm but mostly love of what he loves and who he is! The love and respect he has for his mother made him the person he has become. May he find the perfect person to share his love.

I can sympathize with Ignazio regarding the panic attacks. I had terrible panic attacks many years ago. I just wanted to die. The guys were so transparent, so raw! I pray for them all the time. Now I know specific things to pray for. I pray God would bring a wonderful woman into Piero’s life. I pray he reminds Ignazio of the beautiful person he is, that God would heal him of the panic attacks, show him his worth. Staying by himself so much is not a good thing. And for Gianluca, that he would find a relationship with God who will show him who he is.

Oh how wonderful that you did this and shared with us. I have never seen them in person. But I have watched absolutely every video I can find on YouTube or anywhere. I leave for Italy the 10th of March and was so excited I would be landing in Turin and then the rest of Italy after 3 days. I’d got online to find where they would be and ran across the 2025 tour….BUMMMMMMMER!! They are in the US while “I” am in Italy. Then they leave the US before I get home. I alive in Arkansas . We own a cattle ranch and it’s seldom I get away.
I adore all three of them and love love love their music. I was planning to take a copy of the Memphis Newspaper with me from 1977 when Elvis died, for Gianluca. He loves & DOES Elvis so well. But they’re not in Italy. I’d mail it somewhere if I knew HE would get it. 😢😢😢

I am not being nasty however your situation is one I’d likely encounter. I’ve been praying for Canadian dates and someone assured me there would be many concerts in Toronto etc. My hopes were high and all I got was 2 in Canada – one in Laval Quebec and the other in Niagara Falls – I live in Vancouver! So I am off to Niagara Falls for my one and only show! I at least get to see them and sad you won’t! Send the Elvis paper to the head offices of il Volo! From the moment I saw this 48 hour interview in Italian I hoped you would translate for us. And within days here it is. I have read and reread it to understand the full meaning of what was revealed. Not everything was translated correctly by the machine, so I watched it again with your translation. I believe that the guys were aware that what they said would go to the media. Hello – here I am again. Sorry, for my rather brief outbreak yesterday, but I really needed to re-watch and re-read this interview as well as sleep on it before explaining my reaction and thoughts. But here I go!
At first sight I thought it all pretty funny – albeit a truly silly set-up and the interviewer rather crazy – but no doubt, the guy got more out of the guys than any other interviewer, I can recall. So apparently the madness of this set-up must have suited the guys one way or another and led to a confidentiality we haven’t experienced before. Fine – and yet not – as what new info are we learning from this interview? That Ignazio obviously is even more fragile and vulnerable than Gianluca and suffering from panic attacks and eating disorders. That Piero has a mild OCD and in spite of consistent claims that he is in a good place in life and fine with living alone after all is deeply worried about never being able to settle down and raise a much wanted family – and Gianluca admits he was feeling lonely and left out of the Sicilian bonding between the two others the first couple of years as a trio and demonstrates his vanity down to details in an attempt to prove to us that by now he is confident showing us who he really is. And finally that both Gianluca and Ignazio express that they have very different personalities that apparently clashes from time to time*.
– But do we actually enjoy knowing these facts?
– Do we really want to know?
– Do artists really have to give so much of themselves to be loved?
– Who does actually benefit from knowing these things?
– Don’t they expose themselves to misunderstandings and evil press taking advantage of this info?
Reflecting a bit makes me come to the conclusion: No. Next feeling coming to me: Sadness!
First – sad – because apparently all three are dealing with serious life issues. Ignazio to such an effect that it influences his daily life and keeps him in solitude and dislike of his own body in spite he hasn’t been overweight for more than ten years and to-day is a very handsome man. Hopefully, he has a good physician as panic attacks do not necessarily come from a tough childhood but most often is a chemical thing going on that can be dealt with by medicine. And sweet Piero – I wish so much for him, that he shall soon find time in his tight schedule to just relax, “let his hair down” and get out there and mingle with people from other social circles and by co-incident bump into that right girl that makes his heart beat double. And no, she is probably not sitting in those first rows at the concerts ready to throw herself in his arms for a one-night stand – but she is out there, I am sure. He is such a wonderful man that deserves a true friend and life-companion taking him for the person he is and not his fame. Gianluca has for years been struggling with lacking self confidence constantly seeking confirmation from his fans on the social media. Apparently having studied the big philosophers seeking replies to the big questions in life has done him good and he seems to have come to better terms with who he is – and as he said in another interview – he was now ripping off the various masks he has been “wearing” no longer afraid of revealing who he was. Hopefully, he is right – at least he has seemed happier, more smiling and lively this past season – but he has probably yet a way to go. So odd though that such a handsome man, with such a big heart and much kindness should have such struggles…
Secondly but more importantly – sad – because revealing all this to us makes them very vulnerable. This world is cruel – and it is like throwing themselves to the feet of the lions. In a split-second they have torn down the flawless image of three perfect guys too good for this world. The image people have either loved or hated for 15 years. Of course that ought to be fine – now we know that they are “just” human beings like the rest of us. With lives taking ups and downs as a rollercoaster. But will that do them any good? Those of us, who do already love them – yes, we will love them to bits and pieces even more. Those who, however, have a grudge against them will most likely see this as a great opportunity to turn it against them and twist each word to their liking. The tabloids will love to make new headlines pointing out their weaknesses and once again bring about uncertainty as to whether or not a break-up of the trio is in the near future. Many fans are naive and may bring slander about – I believe that at some of the less serious fan-sites there are already ongoing chats about Ignazio bullying Gianluca and other evil stuff. Who benefits from that? Not the guys…
Hence, to revert to my own reply. No, we do not need to know these personal details. We are “just” fans, who love the guys for their voices, music and the kind and lovely personalities they display on-stage and in their offi-cial presence. As long as they fulfill these requirements to our liking, we have really no right to know anything more. We need to respect their right to a private life and having no further requirements than to wish them good health and all the best in all their other doings.

Yes I re -read the interview too and was upset about their private lives. I think he got too much from each of them. Love them ❤️❤️❤️
Dear Kirsten, you are absolutely right, this interview has exposed hidden aspects and fears of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca’s character.
Newspapers are already producing many articles that go beyond and confuse ideas by taking inspiration from their simple statements.
It’s true, there’s no need to know some of their things, but they don’t like to hide, that’s clear.
If they had wanted, they could have eclipsed the questions or hidden the answers, no one would have known, but they are not like that, they don’t hide behind a golden mask and perhaps this makes us love them even more.
Then in Italy, where their image is considered “too perfect”, people discover that the three of them are simple boys with all the fears and uncertainties of any other boy and this is also a great encouragement towards those young people who are troubled by the their future and read that Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca also have their own fears, and they overcame many obstacles and made it!!
See this article from this perspective and you will see that you will feel less sad, their fears are overcoming them and the affection that unites them is a great glue.
Thank you so much Daniella. I do see where you come from. I hope you are right and that knowing that even the IL VOLO guys are having rough times in their lives will help other young people in same situations – encourage them.
And yes – personally, I do only love them even more for

Kirsten and Uschi – I certainly respect your views however two points
1. The boys had the right to say NO personal questions
2. Both of you have no right to interpret what is not yours
Communication is emotions and just words. Obviously they trust the interviewer, or wouldn’t have done the 48 hours.
The most interesting fact I learned how PIERO hates the meet and greets! I don’t blame him as he is uncomfortable, however they will be bound by their contract as it is marketing!
In closing it was very telling to know they too experienced the same issues as us – hey we are as normal as they are -just not as wealthy!

I’m slightly baffled. Where does it state that Piero hates meet and greets? Do you mean this sentence :
“Now at 30 or 31 years old, everything has changed completely, because now I don’t feel like finishing a concert and meeting someone, spending a couple of hours together and then ending it there.” ?
He was referring to having one-night stands.
Ok Thordis maybe you are right! I never read this as one night stands! I never imagined Piero as a one night guy! If he wants a partner/wife and then children he should smarten up! I thought he had more respect for woman and himself!

Er hat Respekt vor den Frauen und such selbst. Deshalb will er ja keine One Night Stands mehr. Aber in jungen Jahren, wenn man von sehr vielen Frauen begehrt wird, ist es schwer, zu widerstehen.
Sheila, I agree with Thordis, you misunderstood the meaning of Piero’s words, it wasn’t referring to the meet & greet, but to occasional meetings with the fans. Piero admits that around the age of twenty he was attracted by these quick acquaintances, on the other hand we must understand the young age, the noise of fame (it was the period in which Il Volo had won Sanremo) and the hordes of girls who wanted to spend a few hours with them .
Now Piero’s reflection is that he is no longer interested in this type of acquaintance, he is looking for a woman who wants to bond with him for life.

Jetzt komme ich auch endlich dazu, meine Gedanken aufzuschreiben.
Ich werde auf Deutsch schreiben, weil ich auf Englisch zu lange brauchen würde.
Ich sah das Trio zum ersten Mal im Dezember 2023 im Deutschen Fernsehen, als das Weihnachtskonzert aus Jerusalem gesendet wurde. Ich habe mich sofort in die drei Typen und ihre Stimmen „verliebt“. Ich interessiere mich sehr für Menschen und das nicht nur oberflächlich. Ich geriet zum Glück auf diese Fanpage und erfuhr schon mal viel über sie. Ich kaufte mir ihre drei Bücher und fing vor fast einem Jahr an, Italienisch zu lernen. Immer, wenn ich Zeit habe, übersetze ich mir die Bücher.
Ich kenne jetzt die Anfänge, als sie Kinder bzw. Jugendliche waren.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich geschockt war, dass man die Kinder „dem Elternhaus, der Schule und den Freunden entrissen hat“. Ich kann mich nie entscheiden, ob es eine gute Idee war oder ob es wichtiger war, der Welt diese drei eigenartigen Talente nicht vorzuenthalten.
Bei diesem Interview taten mir viele Aussagen weh. Ich konnte Vieles verstehen. Z.B. Gianluca: er sagte, dass er nicht mal einen Abschluss machen konnte. Nach der 8. Klasse hat er die Schule verlassen. Er kam mit ihm fremden Jungens zusammen, mit denen er fortan ununterbrochen zusammenleben musste. Er fühlte sich zurückgesetzt. Piero und Ignazio sprachen dieselbe Sprache, hat mehr Gemeinsames. Gian war der jüngste und sensibelste. Es muss sehr schwierig für ihn gewesen sein. Man sieht es, und er sagte es auch mal in einem Interview, dass er an seinen Fingernägeln knabbert. Ich habe oft gehört, dass dafür psychische Gründe vorliegen. Nun will er Psychlogie studieren, ebenso wie Piero.
Ignazio hat Panikattacken und war/ist fettleibig und deshalb immer unter Druck. Es ist bewundernswert, dass er überhaupt so viel abgenommen hat.
Ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass Piero mit über 30 Jahren gern eine Familie gründen würde. Aber wann hat er die Gelegenheit, die richtige Frau kennen zu lernen.
Wie lange halten sie das noch durch? Gewissermaßen leiden alle drei.
Das macht mich sehr traurig. Piero sagte, sie streiten sich jeden Tag, Gianluca sagte daraufhin, ja, aber nur wegen der musikalischen Angelegenheit. Piero sagte mal, einer von den Dreien muss Entscheidungen treffen, dabei ist es gut, dass sie eben zu Dritt sind. Wer setzt sich durch und wer nicht?
Mich interessiert ihr Leben, aber nur glücklich scheint es nicht zu sein.

Uschi, aus dem, was ich gelesen habe, entnehme ich, dass du Piero, Ignazio und Gianluca gut kennst.
Was Sie schreiben, ist alles wahr, die drei haben immer noch positive und negative Momente, und ich glaube, dass ihre Stärke darin liegt, dass sie drei völlig unterschiedliche Männer im Charakter sind. Ich glaube, wenn sie sich völlig ähnlich gewesen wären, wäre die Gruppe wahrscheinlich schon gewesen aufgelöst. Stattdessen helfen sich drei von ihnen, so unterschiedlich, gegenseitig, unterstützen sich gegenseitig, wo das eine das andere nicht erreicht. Ja, Gianluca hat am Anfang wahrscheinlich sehr gelitten, aber Gianluca war überhaupt kein einfacher Charakter, er war sehr introvertiert und sehr zweifelnd an sich selbst, es war nicht einfach, mit ihm zusammen zu sein. Es stimmt, sie geben zu, jeden Tag zu streiten, wer tut das nicht? Warum gelingt es dir, dir einzuprägen, dass sie streiten können, und du gehst nicht nach Hause, wenn einer von ihnen sagt, dass sie sich so sehr lieben? In welcher Familie wird nicht gekämpft? Stärke besteht darin, Konflikte zu überwinden und vor allem die tiefe Verbundenheit anzuerkennen, und es scheint mir, dass Ignazio, Gianluca und Piero dies kontinuierlich tun. Natürlich haben sie ein stressiges Leben, hatten Sie irgendwelche Zweifel? Es ist klar, dass sie wenig Zeit haben, sich um ihre Familien und ihre Lieben zu kümmern, aber es kommt nicht auf die Quantität der Zeit an, sondern auf die Qualität, und ich denke, die drei haben das sehr gut verstanden. Auch für Piero wird die richtige Frau kommen!!

Uschi, from what I read I understand that you have a good knowledge of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.
What you write is all true, the three of them still have positive and negative moments, and I believe that their strength lies in being three completely different men in character, I believe that if they had been completely similar the group would probably have already been dissolved. Instead, three of them, so different, help each other, support each other, where one doesn’t reach the other. Yes, Gianluca probably suffered a lot at the beginning, but Gianluca was not a simple character at all, he was very introverted and very doubtful of himself, it was not easy to be with him. It’s true, they admit to arguing every day, who doesn’t? Why do you manage to impress on your mind that they can argue and you don’t go home when one of them says that they love each other so much? In which family doesn’t fight? Strength is knowing how to overcome conflicts and above all to admit the deep bond and it seems to me that Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero do this continuously. Of course they have a stressful life, did you have any doubts? It’s clear that they have little time to dedicate to their families and their loved ones, but it’s not the quantity of time that has value, but the quality and I think the three of them understood this very well. The right woman will arrive for Piero too!!

I am sorry to learn that you do not approve of my above comments as I do always make a great effort to bring a pleasant tone and a high level of seriousness into my posts. Hence, I do often re-read the articles several times and take a sleep before thoroughly preparing my few cents to a topic. I do most certainly not expect everybody to agree with my personal views or observations – in the contrary – as a good debate does only arise when different points are presented. And the idea of such a communication thread as this one I do believe is for us fans to share our experiences and thoughts on the performances, articles or interviews in question – no matter how different perceptions we may have – as long as our points of views are presented in a friendly and respectful manner. This time as well. Do bear in mind too that English is not my mother tongue and hence sometimes I may not always be using the correct words/terms no matter how hard I try to do my best. Our various backgrounds and cultures play a vital role in the way we express ourselves as well. Being Scandinavian I do know that we are much more frank and direct in our communication than in many other cultures – so sorry, if I do not “wrap” my comments in soft paper – I speak my mind. And you won’t find me softsoaping anyone including the IL VOLO guys. But please do likewise know that I do fully respect all other points of views and think that sharing our thoughts on such an international media as this one is a way to broaden one’s mind and learn of other perspectives and values.
Having said so, I must admit, that I do not understand the meaning of your point No. 2: “That I have no right to interpret what is not mine”. I know all the words, but it doesn’t make sense to me. What is not mine? No, the article is not mine (presented by Daniela), the interview/concept is not mine (but the one of LeLene) and the answers to the questions are not mine (but the ones of the Il Volo guys). But it is a TV-show broadcast to the public and hence the “ownership” of same is fare game to the audiences. So sorry, I don’t understand your point. Personally I am a very analyzing person i.e. I do always see cons and pros in all connections – likewise in this interview. Therefore, as stated – at first sight I found the show fun and crazy. I couldn’t get it out of my head though – and I had to review it several times, which then left me with complete different emotions as suddenly I saw the other side of the coin. Now I found myself sad. I reflected for a long time on this and decided to share my “analyzes” with you people in this closed community – among fellow fans and friends. I hoped my points of views would be taken for the face value and that it might lead to a good and serious discussion. So it did likewise sadden me to read your comment as, apparently, I hadn’t succeeded in making myself clear. Sorry about that. Please note that I am not here to stir up any unpleasantness nor create a bad atmosphere – in the contrary.

Ansonsten zeigt das Interview sehr menschliche und verstehbare Dinge der 3 Künstler auf.
Sie hatten einerseits eine schöne Jugend mit Erlebnissen, die die meisten ein ganzes Leben lang nicht haben werden. Andererseits entwickeln sich dabei schon Traumatas, die jetzt schwer loszubekommen sind. Erfolg hat eben leider auch seinen Preis.

Margit, ich stimme mit Ihnen überein, insbesondere in der Tatsache, dass “der Erfolg seinen Preis hat”. Piero, Gianluca und Ignazio führen sicherlich ein stressiges Leben, aber ich bin ebenso sicher, dass sie wissen, wie sie Momente großer Gelassenheit mit ihren Familien und Aus diesem Grund finde ich es oft lächerlich, wenn bestimmte Fans ihre Privatsphäre so offensichtlich verletzen.
Wie wir alle bemerkt haben, gibt es viele, zu viele gefälschte Profile, die sich als unsere Kinder und auch als deren Familien sowie als Torpedine ausgeben. Es ist eine schmutzige Sache, die kein Ende hat, selbst wenn sie ständig gemeldet oder blockiert werden. jeden Tag kommen neue dazu, und das ist wirklich eine unhaltbare Situation, und leider tappen viele neue Fans in ihre Falle.
Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen über Fehler, ich benutze den Übersetzer und hoffe im Falle Ihrer Sprache immer, dass das, was ich sagen möchte, richtig interpretiert wird, aber leider bin ich nicht in der Lage zu erkennen, ob die Übersetzung richtig ist.
In den nächsten Tagen wird eine neue Übersetzung veröffentlicht, folgen Sie uns!!

Margit, I agree with you, especially on the fact that “success has its price”, Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio certainly live a stressful life, but I am equally sure that they know how to carve out moments of great serenity with their families and that is why I often find ridiculous certain fans who invade their privacy in an obvious way.
As we have all noticed there are many, too many fake profiles that pass themselves off as our boys and also as their relatives as well as Torpedine, it is an obscene thing that has no end, even if they are constantly reported or blocked, every day others are born it is truly an unsustainable situation and unfortunately many new fans fall into their net.
Don’t worry about mistakes, I use the translator and in the case of your language I always hope that what I want to say is well interpreted but, unfortunately I do not have the power to understand if the translation is correct.
In these days a new translation will be published, follow us!!

I hope you don’t think I have forgotten about this blog, as I have not responded for a while. I have been through a sad illness and not able to stay in touch as much as I would like, but please know that the posts lift my spirits and make me feel included just the same. I am ,however, making good progress now. This post, in it’s entirety, took me a while to read and it’s just as interesting and thought provoking as any long ones in the past. Hi Mark, it’s nice to hear from you again. In fact, it’s been a while since I found your comments and now I read that you’ve been ill, I’m very sorry and I sincerely hope that you’re in a recovery phase and I hope you get back in shape soon. I’m also happy that our posts kept you company.
In fact, this interview was a bit unusual, but it had a good media impact because it offered us Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio in an interview that was a little different than usual.

The interviewer has certainly got all three men to open up, and not be afraid to be vulnerable. It can’t be easy when so many people are listening and judging what they say and do. Like so many people on here, I appreciate hearing about their private thoughts, and I was moved to both sadness and smiles for them. They don’t have to share any more than their wonderful music – but they do anyway.
