IL VOLO TO ZELIG by Daniela

The day after the LE IENE broadcast, ZELIG was broadcast.
Zelig is a program that favors comedy, so everything said or done must be interpreted as such. Given this, Il Volo was a musical guest and then answered some “questions” (in reality they are not real questions but witty jokes).
The show is presented by Vanessa Incontrada and Claudio Bisio.
I remind you that this broadcast (like LE IENE) is not live, but was recorded in October.
Since Il Volo was not present in the entire episode, I only propose the moments relating to them.
In the video below, the boys answer questions from journalists.
Attention!! As I told you, they are not real journalists and the questions have nothing to do with Il Volo, they are comical moments which Il Volo lends itself to!! 😁

VANESSA= Three world-famous voices are about to enter here in Zelig. They are dear friends of mine and for me it is truly a great, great pleasure to have at Zelig: Il Volo!!
IGNAZIO= Hello, hello everyone.
GIANLUCA= Good evening.
VANESSA= A big round of applause for this incredible trio.
Hi Gianluca, hello Ignazio, hello Piero, how are you?
IGNAZIO= How are you? (addressed to the public)
VANESSA= Come forward, come with me, we’re a little too far behind. So, we would have organized a small press conference here in Zelig because there were a few journalists who wanted to ask you some questions.
Mary, can you kindly bring me the stools? These journalists wanted to ask you a few things and I didn’t want to say no.
PIERO= We are ready for anything!
VANESSA= Are you ready?
IGNAZIO= Yes, yes.
VANESSA= The journalists I don’t know where they are….
MAN = Here we are, good evening. I am very happy to be here this evening in the company of three artists with a capital A. Three internationally renowned actors, three actors that the whole world envies us, represent Italy in the world. At this point it arises spontaneously: When will the three of you make a film together again? (laughter) 😁
VANESSA= No. I mean, they will be happy with this compliment, but they are Il Volo, let’s talk about music.
MAN= Ah, aren’t I Kim Rossi Stuart? Claudio Santamaria not even? (they are Italian actors) 😁
VANESSA= No, They are Il Volo: Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero.
PIERO= Nice to meet you!!
MAN= Ah, I apologize!!
VANESSA= Can we at least know who you are?
MAN = Yes, I’m Aldo Bruzzone, I write for Il Rincoglionito (The Stupidity) 😁
IGNAZIO= Ah!!!
VANESSA= I can say that we imagined this! 😂
So please, any more questions?
MAN 2= Here, here. Good evening.
VANESSA = Good evening.
MAN 2= I’m Flavio Ciancio and I write for Boxer which is a magazine about boxing, dogs and underwear (the three meanings of boxer – laughter) 😂
VANESSA= There, perfect!
IGNAZIO= Boxing? 🤔
VANESSA= Do you want to ask a question, or???
MAN 2= Yes, can someone scratch my back? I’m going crazy! 😂
VANESSA= Do any of you (at Il Volo) want to go and scratch his back?
IGNAZIO= I’ll go!
VANESSA= Are you going, Ignazio?
GIANLUCA= With the microphone, with the microphone!
IGNAZIO= At Cannavacciuolo mode?  😂 (He’s a famous Italian chef, his slaps on the back are famous.)

MAN 2= Perfect, thanks! 😁
VANESSA= Ah, what a nice scratch!
So let’s move on, more questions please.
MAN 3= Yes, here.
VANESSA= Tell me.
MAN 3= I’m Omar Pirovano and I write for THE INSISTENT.
Can I ask a question?
VANESSA= I’m afraid to ask you, but you’re here, so let’s insist.
MAN 3 = Shall I do it?
IGNAZIO= We insist.
MAN 3= I wanted to ask Il Volo: can you tell Claudio Bisio if he’ll let me do the monologue?
PIERO= No.
VANESSA= If you want we can ask Il Volo, Claudio knows they’ll say no.
IGNAZIO= To Il Volo in what sense? Do you want to ask Claudio right away? Or us?  (There is a play on words that loses meaning in translation.)

VANESSA= To Claudio and Il Volo.
PIERO= Il Volo tells you no.
GIANLUCA= We insist, that’s not the case.
MAN 3= Oh well, I wanted to do a monologue…..
VANESSA= I know you always try, but you can’t do it….
MAN 3= Bad you are bad.
VANESSA= Oh well! I know that there is also a journalist from New York who has come especially for you.
MAN 4= Yes, I’m here.
CLAUDIO= I translate what he says, not everyone knows….
IGNAZIO= What are you doing?
PIERO= Do you speak English?
CLAUDIO= Why not! Please, please.
IGNAZIO= We’re counting on you (he says this to Claudio, as if Il Volo didn’t know English)
CLAUDIO= One, two, three (makes it clear that he knows English). 😁😁
MAN 4= My name is Billy Ray Valentine…
CLAUDIO= His name is Billy Ray Valentine…
IGNAZIO= And you were born on February 14th? (Saint Valentine) 😁
MAN 4= Exactly! (then says a few meaningless words in English)
CLAUDIO= The question is: What’s the weather like in New York? And what time is it?
PIERO= Right now it’s 9:00 pm.
CLAUDIO= Another question.
MAN 4= But you not to plains over in station (it doesn’t make sense, they’re just English words) Splending in station.
CLAUDIO= I know you often play Playstation…. Fifa? (it’s a football game for PlayStation – Fifa in Italian means fear, so they make the sign of fear with their hand)
MAN 4= (he says it in incorrect English) Before being together, you were alone, how did you become three?
CLAUDIO= Before being together you were alone, how did you become trees? (three = trees)
VANESSA= Let’s do well Claudio!
GIANLUCA= The apple never falls far from the tree. 😁
MAN 4= They come from different Italian regions (always in broken English) Who decided to put them together?
CLAUDIO= Were you born as a cover of Hu?
GIANLUCA= But where did you get this translator?
VANESSA= Well, he’s Claudio!
CLAUDIO= I took an intensive English course.
VANESSA= In one day!
CLAUDIO= It lasted a day!
(some comical lines with double meanings follow to introduce the request to Il Volo to sing a song)
VANESSA= We can move on, there are other journalists.
MAN 5= Good evening, I’m Alberto Pedullà, very happy to be here. An interesting newspaper pleases the infantryman and the infant (Italian rhyming words).
VANESSA= Yes?
MAN 5= Asks questions at all costs, never vulgar, never rude.
VANESSA= Do you have a question for Il Volo?
MAN 5= Yes, I kindly ask the singing trio, an exciting high note!
(Il Volo sings the chorus of Grande Amore) applause!
VANESSA= Are you satisfied?
MAN 5= Very good, but I want to say: the applause is welcome, but given how fashionable I am, a standing ovation is needed here!
VANESSA= (everyone standing) Yay, I’m standing up for you too!
IGNAZIO= I also stand up for them (the audience)

VANESSA= (to man 5) Are you satisfied?
MAN 5= But look, more than satisfied I must say!!
VANESSA= So, are there any last questions we have to close the conference?
CLAUDIO= (he has put on a false beard and this makes the boys laugh a lot). I’m Francesco Cristoforo, known as Fra, I write for Canta Tu.
VANESSA= Do you have a question?
CLAUDIO= Of course (then intones Fra Martino campanaro and Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca sing the song like a choir) 🥰 applause
VANESSA= Thanks to Il Volo for this mega and in my opinion Ignazio, unforgettable press conference.
GIANLUCA= Thanks to all the nice journalists.
CLAUDIO+VANESSA= (they say the names of the comedians who played the journalists).
Followed by the performance of Il Volo with Capolavoro!! ❤️
CLAUDIO= Il Volo live in Zelig.
VANESSA= Il Volo!!
PIERO= Thank you, thank you all!
(final greetings and hugs)
Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero then pleasantly answered some questions put to them backstage:
QUESTION= Who is the funniest of the three?
(piero raises his hand)
GIANLUCA= Ignazio, come on!
IGNAZIO= (turning to Piero) Compa…..! (friend…..in Sicilian language – and then Ignazio makes an expression as if to say: give up, I’m the funniest)

QUESTION= Which one of you could sing a joke or a joke.
GIANLUCA= (he sings a verse of an Italian song, putting a different ending).
And I look at the world through a porthole……..they locked me inside the washing machine.
IGNAZIO= That’s Dado (the comedian who first distorted the phrase of the song)

GIANLUCA= Well done! (below you can see the comedian Dado singing the piece)
QUESTION= Something that really makes you laugh.
GIANLUCA= Piero’s shirt.
QUESTION= Is it more difficult to make people laugh or move with a song?
G+I+P= Make you laugh.
QUESTION= Do you have a favorite comedian?
PIERO= Cacioppo (Italian comedian) Every evening when I brush my teeth I always watch a video of Cacioppo.
IGNAZIO= Well I have to say my great friend Paolo Cevoli (another Italian comedian)
GIANLUCA= There were very high moments with Ale and Franz (an Italian comedy duo)
QUESTION= Three of your colleagues who could be comedians.
IGNAZIO= Gigi D’Alessio.
PIERO= Mario Biondi
IGNAZIO= and Clementino (they are all Italian singers)
QUESTION = How did you spend your first salary?
PIERO= We have never received a salary. (I think he means in the true sense of a salary.)
QUESTION= How did you spend the last one?
PIERO= With taxes.
QUESTION= The craziest thing a fan has ever asked?
IGNAZIO= If we could go and eat at their house.
GIANLUCA= Or to sing at their wedding.
PIERO= Or on their 18th birthday.
QUESTION= Perform all your life or win the lottery?
G+I+P= Performing all our life.
In this video Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca draw up their rating of the comedians who perform at Zelig. 😁
And finally, we are getting ever closer to the SANREMO moment and the Forbes Italia newspaper has drawn up a ranking of the ten Sanremo winning songs most listened to in streaming and Il Volo con Grande Amore is in eighth place!! Not bad considering that by Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca’s own admission, Il Volo isn’t listened to much on streaming and also considering that 10 years have passed!
I hope you also liked this translation, it is certainly of a completely different genre than that of LE IENE, but this also makes us understand that our boys jokingly lend themselves to any type of show.

    1. They haven’t arrived in California yet, on February 14th to participate in Sanremo, then they arrive!

Espero conseguir bilhetes!!

      Hi Margarida, thanks for the compliments on the translations.
      3 Italian concert dates have just been published, no Verona, this year it’s Mantua, the Palazzo del Té that will host Il Volo. I hope I can get tickets!!

        .
        Ina how nice, anyway go to Mallorca.
        I managed to get tickets to Mantua!!

  2. I like this article better. Funny and Piero’s shirt is sad. I want to hug him! Thank you for the article, the videos too . Love them! ❤️❤️
    And great job on article too!❤️

  3. Hi everyone! I enjoyed this article very much, it’s fun to listen to and watch the boys laugh and “play” around! I had trouble with the IL IENE article when I tried to comment it wouldn’t send! Then I heard the wifi was down again…..Comcast is here a lot in the whole area!😏
    Thank you Daniela for all the translations and Pat for all the photos and videos all a true labor of love and devotion for our wonderful three and gift to all of us!
    I can’t wait for Sanremo and All that follows, especially the show in Clearwater, Fl. Where I’ll be going to the show with a friend and hopefully meeting Judy Edwards and some of the other fans who might be there!
    With admiration and love to you both, Carol 💖💖💖🎼🎤👏👏❤️😘🤗🙏☮️

    1. Totally agree and Clearwater is beautiful! I don’t live there but saw it when my in-laws lived there. I’m in Pa outside of Pittsburgh

    2. You’re welcome, Carol! 😊 I’m glad you liked it. Like I’ve said before….Daniela puts the posts together and I’m just an innocent bystander! 🤣 No, really, I just put her posts into WordPress and make them look pretty! We make a good team!

    3. Carol, I’m happy that you enjoyed this translation, it was difficult to understand that it was all set on the comedic side and our boys really lend themselves to anything.
      I too am excitedly awaiting Sanremo!!

  4. This was a lot of fun, Daniela and Pat–especially since I read Daniela’s translation BEFORE I watched the video. I loved where all three said they would rather perform all their lives than win the lottery! Words we fans love to hear.🥰

    1. Hi Judi, I also loved that the boys want to keep going and continue to delight all of us! Let’s talk the day before the concert, maybe we could all meet for a bite before the show? So looking forward to it!😉 ❤️ Carol

  5. I also loved the remark where all three said they would rather perform all their lives than win the lottery! It seems to me they already have ALREADY won the lottery so now can sing to their hearts content!

    1. That’s right Sheila, but it’s gratifying to know that they love their job so much, they are happy with the life they have undertaken, even if it is sometimes tiring or disappointing………..but it is the life they would always like to lead!!

  6. Great article like all others.
    A beautiful insight onto our great Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio.
    Wishing them great success in Sanremo this coming Feb 14 with Clara @ Night of Covers !
    Once again thanks to Daniela for this funny and delightful interview @Zelig.

    1. Thanks for the compliments Ivete, it’s nice to know that the translations are appreciated.
      The dates of three Italian concerts have just been announced, this one not in Verona, but in Mantua!
      There are new things every day!!

  7. As always, Daniela, your comentary and translations are a “breath of fresh air” for those of us who are linguistically challenged. I cannot wait for the US tour. My plan is to see them more than once, just to hear them sing.

  8. Eileen, I’m so happy to be able to give you “a breath of fresh air” every now and then, stay with us, you will always breathe well!!
