I’ll start by saying that this is the concert I personally attended on the evening of May 10th in Mantua at Palazzo Te, so I was eagerly awaiting this moment to relive the entire evening, which was beautiful, and to see what changes they had made compared to the live performance.
Seeing it again was a great emotion and I was able to relive step by step what really happened, yes because the editing differs very little from the real evening.
As always I attach both videos, the one from Mediaset, visible in Italy and the one from YouTube made by Il Volo En Clase that I always thank but that in Italy is not visible, so I hope that in one way or another you can see the whole concert.

The first images of the evening open with Il Volo walking in the courtyard of Palazzo Te.
What you see behind Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca is the back of the palace itself, on the sides of the boys there are two large pools of water and at the end of the avenue opens the large lawn/garden of the palace, called Esedra (where they have placed all the seats). The bottom of the garden is closed with a series of beautiful arches arranged in a semicircular way, right in front of the arches there is the large stage for the performance.
While they walk, Gianluca reads some notes on Palazzo Te.
GIANLUCA= The splendid Palazzo Te in Mantua, was built in 1500 by Giulio Romano, a shining example of the excellence of Renaissance architecture.
PIERO= Beautiful!
GIANLUCA= Don’t miss the splendidly frescoed interiors.
Great artists such as Gianni Morandi, Antonello Venditti, Noemi, Fiorella Mannoia, Enrico Brignano, Lorella Cuccarini perform here……
IGNAZIO= But when?
GIANLUCA= In the second episode of TUTTI PER UNO VIAGGIO NEL TEMPO, the concert by Il Volo.
PIERO= But the second episode of TUTTI PER UNO is tonight!
GIANLUCA = Exactly, good, it says it here too, read, the Il Volo concert is starting soon…
IGNAZIO= Exactly, stop reading, let’s go on stage….
PIERO= See you soon at TUTTI PER UNO
IGNAZIO= (off camera calls Piero) Piero!
PIERO= Yes, I’m coming!!
The actual concert begins with the notes of the beautiful song THE FINAL COUNTDOWN chosen for the opening of the three evenings in Mantua. 🤩
After the beautiful performance, greetings to Mantua and the audience of Canale 5.
The first great guest of the evening is Gianni Morandi (81 years old), he has been in vogue since 1960, he was a boy when he started singing and is still active.
This performance was not recorded on day 10 but on day 8 during the first evening, in fact if you pay attention during some scenes you can see the rain.
The evening I attended the initial guest was Giorgia who we will definitely see next week.
Gianni Morandi begins by duetting with Ignazio singing the beautiful song GRAZIE PERCHÈ (1991).
He continues with Gianluca singing VITA (1988).
He ends with Piero singing the beautiful SE NON AVESSI PIÙ TE (1966). This beautiful song was also the live-motive of a film with the same title and interpreted by the same young Morandi and which had a huge success.❤️
The last verse of the song is sung by all four together and at the end Gianni Morandi says sympathetically:
“Guys, singing with you is beautiful, but guys, you have too much voice, it’s a disaster for us to keep up with you!” 😂🤣
Gianni usually takes a selfie with whoever he duets with and so tonight he takes a selfie with Il Volo and Piero makes everyone laugh because Gianni’s phone wasn’t in “airplane” mode and so it could ring at any moment! 😂
Gianni Morandi’s guest appearance ends with a sensational song from 1966, here in Italy it was a great success and I always thought it was a foreign song then translated into Italian, instead I discovered that it is an Italian song that was then translated into various languages. The title of the song is C’ERA UN RAGAZZO.
This protest song against the Vietnam War was subjected to musical censorship by RAI for being in opposition to the policies of a friendly country, the USA.
Its words are very beautiful and sad and so I also attach the translated text. It is a hymn to not making wars!! ❤️🕊️
There was a boy who like me,
Loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones
Traveled the world, came from
The United States of America
He wasn’t handsome, but next to him
He had a thousand women if
He sang “Help!” and “Ticket to ride”
Or “Lady Jane” or “Yesterday”
He sang: “Long live freedom”
But he received a letter
He gave me his guitar
He was called back to America
Stop with the Rolling Stones!
Stop with the Beatles, stop!
They told me go to Vietnam
And shoot the Vietcong
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
There was a boy who like me
Loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones
He traveled the world, but then he ended up
Waging war in Vietnam
He no longer wears long hair
He doesn’t play the guitar, but
An instrument that always gives
The same “ra-ta-ta-ta” note
He no longer has friends, he no longer has fans
He sees people falling down
He won’t return to his country
Now he’s dead in Vietnam
Stop with the Rolling Stones!
Stop with the Beatles, stop!
In the chest there is no more heart
But two medals or three
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta
It’s time for the first solo and it’s Ignazio who offers us the beautiful I WANT IT ALL (1989) by Queen, what power!! 👏😍
Here follows Piero’s beautiful solo on the beautiful song from Verdi’s opera TROVATORE (1853).
This was one of my dad’s favorite songs, he always sang it to me, and hearing it sung by Piero’s beautiful voice brought back so many fond memories. ❤️
Here follows a duet between Gianluca and the singer Noemi on a beautiful song by Battiato LA STAGIONE DELL’AMORE (1983). 😍
Beautiful duet and beautiful words of which I propose the first piece.
“The season of love comes and goes
Desires almost never age with age
If I think about how badly I spent my time
That will not return, will never return
The season of love comes and goes
Suddenly without realizing it, you will live it, it will surprise you
We have had opportunities
Losing them, do not regret them, never regret them
Yet another enthusiasm will make your heart beat
New possibilities to get to know each other
And lost horizons are never forgotten
The season of love will return
With fears and bets
This time how long will it last
If I think about how badly I spent my time
That will not return, will never return.”
At this point the co-host of the evening is introduced: Lorella Cuccarini (60 years old).
She is a very good and nice show girl, she achieved success in 1985 with the show Fantastico where she danced and sang the theme song SUGAR SUGAR and the dance, which became viral at the time, involved a hand movement that Ignazio continues to propose. Ignazio also takes the guitar to perform the song but also remains breathless!! 😂🤣🥰👏
Lorella Cuccarini activates the timer that stops time in the year 1898, the year of publication of the timeless and highly successful Il Volo O SOLE MIO. 😍
This is immediately followed by the beautiful SE TELEFONANDO (1966), Costanzo’s beautiful words set to music by Morricone and brought to success by Mina. 😍
The concert continues with another welcome guest and good singer-songwriter Antonello Venditti. With him Gianluca performs the beautiful song STELLA (1984). 😍
At the end of the song, Ignazio and Piero, whom Venditti calls “the little brothers of rock”, also arrive and all together they perform the beautiful NOTTE PRIMA DEGLI ESAMI (1984).
Lorella Cuccarini returns to the stage and there is a beautiful tribute to the very talented show girl RAFFAELLA CARRÀ, she was a very nice woman, self-deprecating and good at hosting and singing, a revolutionary woman, a model, an icon. Lorella and the guys remember the bob of her hair, famous because despite the moves of the showgirl the hair always came back in place and became very fashionable at the time and then they also remember the song TUCA TUCA (1971) which had a dance at the beginning censored because Raffaella danced with a top that therefore revealed the navel and the dance included moves where the partner touched Raffaella’s skin. Later it became famous when it was performed in an ironic way by Raffaella and the good actor Alberto Sordi.
The memory of Raffaella Carrà ends with the performance of RUMORE (1974), one of Raffaella’s songs performed by Il Volo and Lorella Cuccarini.
The concert continues with the beautiful song LA VITA (1968) presented at Sanremo by Shirley Bassey and proposed here as a duet between Piero and Fiorella Mannoia. 😍
This performance is also part of the first evening of recording, then edited differently.
At the end of the song Fiorella announces that she will perform a concert at Caracalla and among her guests there will also be Il Volo!
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca reunited sing together the beautiful MISERERE, a song by Zucchero from 1990, and which receives a lot of applause. 🥰
Ignazio introduces the next guest, the singer-songwriter Marco Masini with whom Ignazio duets singing the beautiful song CI VORREBBE IL MARE (1990). 🥰
A song written by a very good Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti, his songs have made a generation sing.
I GIARDINI DI MARZO was written in 1972, I was a little girl then and I remember every word of this beautiful song. It is performed in a beautiful duet by Piero and Gianluca. ❤️
As I told you, I know this song very well and of course I sang it that evening. The cameraman of Canale 5 noticed us and filmed us, we are in a frame almost at the end of the song but you can see me clearly. I am in the middle, next to me my daughter-in-law’s mother and then my husband partially hidden by my arm. How exciting to see each other again, we are also part of the video of Il Volo, what an honor!! ❤️
It’s time for the comic figure of the evening and in this second episode the role has been entrusted to the comedian Enrico Brignano.
In the first sketch he appears impersonating an ancient Roman consul.
At the beginning he defends the Latin language that the guys say is a dead language, then he praises the glory of the past of ancient Rome, all to introduce the next beautiful song NELLE TUE MANI from The Gladiator (1998) sung wonderfully by Il Volo. ❤️❤️
Here is another beautiful song performed by our guys, the beautiful A CHI MI DICE, a success by Blue, released in 2003 and then also translated into Italian.😍
The talented Lorella Cuccarini returns to the stage and compliments our boys.
Lorella makes a speech about the music that accompanies films and that then becomes famous and then MANIAC is immediately named from the film Flashdance (1983).
Then the film Blus Brother is remembered from which the song EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE (1980) is taken.
Finally the beautiful film Grease from which the beautiful song YOU’RE THE ONE THAT I WANT (1978) is taken, briefly and nicely proposed by Lorella and Ignazio in the Italian version YOU ARE MADE FOR ME. 😍
The evening continues with a beautiful tribute to an Italian singer-songwriter known throughout the world thanks to his song Volare. He is Domenico Modugno, the tribute is made in solo by Gianluca who masterfully performs with his warm voice three beautiful successes by Modugno of which I briefly propose the translated beginning.
It begins with AMARA TERRA MIA (Bitter Land of Mine) (1974).
“Sun in the valley and sun on the hill
There is no one left in the countryside
Goodbye, goodbye, love
I’m going away
Bitter land of mine
Bitter and beautiful
Endless skies and faces like stone
Called hands now without hope
Goodbye, goodbye, love
I’m going away
Bitter land of mine
Bitter and beautiful”.
Then follows the iconic VECCHIO FRACK (Old tailcoat) (1955) that I loved to sing as a child even if the song is older than me.
“Midnight has come
The noises fade away
The sign fades away
Of that last café
The streets are deserted
Deserted and silent
A last carriage
Creaking goes away
The river flows slowly
Rushing under the bridges
The moon shines in the sky
The whole city is asleep
Only an old tailcoat goes”.
Finally the beautiful MERAVIGLIOSO (Wonderful) (1968)
“It’s true
Believe me it happened
At night on a bridge
I was looking at the dark water
With the damned desire
To dive down
Suddenly
Someone behind me
Maybe an angel
Dressed as a passerby
Took me away saying
Like this
Wonderful
But how do you not realize
How the world is
Wonderful
Wonderful
Even your pain
It may appear later
Wonderful
But look around you
What gifts they gave you
They invented you
The sea
You say I have nothing
Does the sun seem like nothing to you
The Life
The Love
Wonderful
The love of a woman
Who loves only you
Wonderful
The light of a morning
The embrace of a friend
The face of a child
Wonderful
Wonderful.”
It’s time for a virtual duet, Ignazio will sing a duet in Neapolitan with Pino Daniele on his beautiful song QUANDO (1991). This duet is amazing, well done Ignazio! ❤️
Ignazio introduces the song by reading this dedication:
“Pino, you were the soundtrack of many moments in my life, from the most melancholic to the happiest.
It’s been ten years since you left us, too soon.
I never had the chance to meet you personally but I want to thank you, because you managed with your voice and your music to make me see the world with your thousand colors.
I thought I’d remember you with one of your songs that is closest to my heart and tonight, with a little magic, I’ll feel closer to you.”
Another beautiful duet, but this time an opera aria, from the toast of Verdi’s Traviata (1853), the joyful LIBIAM DE LIETI CALICI, skillfully sung by Piero and the soprano Elisa Balbo. ❤️
It’s always a pleasure to listen again to the beautiful GRANDE AMORE with which Il Volo won Sanremo in 2015! ❤️
Lorella Cuccarini returns to the stage with whom Il Volo makes fun of the 80s for the exaggeration of hair and also of clothes. At the end a hypothetical image of Il Volo in 80s style is proposed. 😂
Then a song from that period sung by U2 is introduced and this time performed as a duet by Ignazio and Gianluca, the beautiful WITH OR WITHOUT YOU (1987). 😍
The timer marks a very particular year 1860 is the year of the unification of Italy.
To understand the gag that follows I have to tell you a little about Italian history.
Brignano plays Giuseppe Garibaldi who is considered the architect of the unification of Italy.
With the enterprise of the Thousand (that is, with the help of a thousand men called Garibaldini), he allowed the Mezzogiorno (south) to be united with Piedmont (north) in 1860, and therefore to arrive at the constitution of the Kingdom of Italy (1861).
Garibaldi’s exploits are also very well known in South America, in fact he is called the hero of two worlds.
In the gag our guys do not recognize Garibaldi who instead says he is very famous because every town has a square, a street or a monument named after him.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are dressed as Garibaldini and carry the Italian flag and every time Brignano says the word “flag” in his speech, they start singing like this:
“And the three-colored flag has always been the most beautiful, we always want that we want freedom, freedom.”
In the end Brignano cannot speak because he is always interrupted by the singing of our guys and Brignano tells the orchestra not to indulge them or he will shoot!
A page of the Italian Risorgimento in comic form, at the end Brignano greets everyone saying: “Long live Italy always!” 😂🥰
It’s time for a wonderful song by Elton John from 1994 CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT, a song from the movie The Lion King, wonderfully performed by Gianluca.
During the song, two young and talented dancers from the Rome Opera performed. ❤️
This song was also not performed on the second night, but I think it was part of the third concert.
Gianluca’s words for the presentation:
“There are songs that are not just notes and words, but become traveling companions and the one I’m about to sing is one of those, it accompanied me as a child in the moments when I dreamed of being stronger, more confident, and when I constantly looked for confirmation, answers. I was a shy child, with his insecurities and his immense dreams and with time I understood that that shyness was not a limit but a silent force that protected me from arrogance and taught me humility.
Growing up my body changed, the world around me changed, but something remained unchanged, my soul, and inside me that child is still there and tonight I sing with him and this is CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT.”
It’s the most touching moment of the evening.
IGNAZIO = It’s one of those songs that we always want to dedicate to the people who unfortunately are no longer physically with us and we think it’s right this year for TUTTI PER UNO to dedicate this song to our Barbara who is no longer with us. (applause). 🙏
Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero are moved and raise their beautiful voices in memory of Barbara Vitali, to whom the poignant HALLELUJAH by Cohen (1984) is dedicated. ❤️
Another beautiful and challenging duet is that between Piero and Ignazio who sing the beautiful TU CA NUN CHIAGNE (1987) in Neapolitan language.😍
This time Piero surprises us with a solo in French, he has performed it only once in Japan, in Kyoto in 2022 at the Kiyomizu-Dera Temple: POURQUOI ME REVEILLER from the opera Werter 1892. 👏👏
Lorella Cuccarini returns to the stage for the final greetings, but before saying goodbye together with Il Volo she sings the beautiful song by Gino Paoli UNA LUNGA STORIA D’AMORE 1988. 😍
It’s also time for the last song of the concert.
Il Volo thanks the audience of Mantua and the audience of Canale 5.
The final song is taken from the latest CD of Il Volo: OPERA 2024. ❤️
In the photo Il Volo and in the background the beautiful paintings of Palazzo Te.🤩
The concert is over but I also offer you the summary video and photos of the rehearsals!!

It was another beautiful evening full of beautiful songs, guests, laughter, love and so much talent.
The third and final appointment remains and it will once again be a special evening, because Il Volo never disappoints.
See you soon: Daniela 🤗
Credit to owners of all photos and videos.

Wow amazing night you had. I love your description of the whole evening. I felt I was there.
So moving and so beautiful.
I save all this for my Italian friend who doesn’t have social media but adores Il Volo, she has followed them since 2009. She loves the videos and stories.
Grazie, and warm regards.
Fenella a big fan, ❤️
Fenella, I’m glad you enjoyed the second night too, now all that’s left is to watch the third and there’s not much time left!!
Thank you, again and always, for sharing your experiences with those of us who do not have the opportunity to see Il Volo as often as we wish.
Eileen, it is a great pleasure to be able to share with you my experiences and what is said in Italian, I like to think I help you understand.
Ina, I’m really happy to have helped you understand, that’s exactly what I wanted, thank you.
Being on the Il Volo video is really the best for me!!

GIUSEPPINA DA NIZZA
Thanks, again, for all you do to keep us (IL VOLO fans) informed and showing the concerts they perform. Cannot truly imagine what it would be like to be there in person. Began to watch it on You Tube, this time was able to get English translation/ in the settings. It’s helpful when they are talking or joking with their guests. Continue to wish good things for the guys and their families.
Barb, my translation is rough but I think it can still give you some ideas to better understand certain things that are said. Enjoy the view and enjoy the reading!
Yes and I love them !
It’s true Luz, it’s a great pleasure to see them on TV, but it’s equally a pleasure to be able to see them live, the power of their voice remains intact and also their humor or their spontaneity, nothing is cut, you see and hear them exactly as on TV, it’s a pleasure for the eyes and ears.
Thank you Pat and Daniela for putting this together, telling us about the concert and even including some lyrics!
I decided to read through everything before I listened to the songs and discovered Pourquoi Me Revieller.
Folks please forgive me if I mentioned this before because this has been on my mind for a long time. I have been watching the old video of this over and over. It’s amazing. I knew that if I ever had the chance to talk to Piero I would ask him why he never sang this in concert again. It seems very difficult but his voice has become stronger from training and practice. I hope in this concert the audience blew the roof off.
Now I’m going to watch it.
You’re welcome, Gail! 😊
Gail, I’m glad you also enjoyed reading the lyrics of the songs I included, actually I was wondering if I was right or wrong to include them.
As for Pourquoi Me Revieller, I also sometimes wonder why they only perform certain songs sporadically and aren’t included in their usual selection, I’ll never understand this, however I’m happy I was able to listen to it again.
Thank you Daniela for giving us the translations of some of the songs. I thought the words to Meraviglioso were very moving. Knowing them made the song even more beautiful. I love the picture of you singing. What an honor to be in an Il Volo video! .A reward for all that you do for us. It was another great concert.
Cathy, I also think that the lyrics of MERAVIGLIOSO are splendid, once the songs were like poems, now everything is very vulgar and full of swear words, nothing to do with the beautiful words full of meaning of the past years.
Daniella, what a great night….I Think you really enjoyed our boys and friends! Thank you both you and Pat for a wonderful experience!
For anyone who is interested, at least in the US, I down loaded the MEDIASET APP from the App Store was able to watch the whole show and get the cc in English! I have to say I’ve always thought Italian songs were the most beautiful but when you see the translation of each they are really special. I love that you all sing songs of love, peace, kindness and unity, all the things this world needs more of! Bravo!!
As usual our wonderful three out did themselves, I can’t wait for #3!!
I’ve sold my condo and move into my apartment on the 16th of June, our closing will be the same day! Couldn’t be better timing!
Thank God I don’t have to say goodbye to any of you, leaving my friends in Florida was hard but I am happy to be back by my 3 children and their families!
Live, love and be kind!
Much affection to both of you, Carol❤️😘🤗💖💖💖🎼🎹🎤🎶🎵🙏🏻☮️
Thank you too Carol for appreciating the reading of the lyrics of the songs. I have to say that the text of MERAVIGLIOSO is really beautiful, every time I read those beautiful words I get emotional, they make you appreciate everything that we always take for granted, they make you appreciate life!
I am also happy that you are back close to your children and their families. 💖
Daniela, what a lot of work by you and Pat went into this excellent post–grazie mille!! So happy to see you singing your heart out in the video–that’s a beautiful, and very intricate song, and so emotionally sung by Gianluca especially. It’s such a treat to hear so much material that is new to us. I’m amazed the guys found the time to learn all these arrangements. And can’t help wishing they would record some of them–I can think of so many from past shows (solos, duets and trios) that I would love to be able to hear again and again.
Prego, Judi!😄
Honestly Judi I also don’t understand where our three guys found the time to try all these songs, singles, duets, operas, pop, rock and even recitals, in short a great job, but the results are excellent and so we enjoy them several times.
I just finished watching the second concert. Such beautiful music and voices. It looked perfect! Again they presented music new me and some songs they have not sung in some time. I marvel that they have the time and energy to learn new music and all those duets because of their very busy schedule. Thank you for the translations and the lyrics to some of their songs and bringing us along to the concert. It was fun seeing you singing and really enjoying the music with your family members. I hope I have the chance to see them One more time in Italy because they are at their absolute best at home. Thanks again for all you do for the fans.
Janet, I’m sure you’ll come to Italy again and attend concerts here again and maybe we’ll meet again!!
I’m happy you enjoyed the second night too, but I had no doubts!
Yes I love them and all of their artists , orchestra and chorus . I love them !❤️
Thanks, once again, Pat and Daniela, for the opportunity to see this performance, for those of us who can’t attend the concerts personally. 🧡🧡
I have had a thought, Daniela. If it wasn’t for the coverage you and Pat gave Il Volo, (i.e. their performances, the extra following of their personal activities such as Igna’s wedding to Michelle and the news of their new addition to their family), the Il Volovers would have no idea what was happening in our young men’s lives. To which the conclusion would be that we wouldn’t be the avid fans we’ve turned out to be over the years.
Thank Heaves, at least the cameraman of Canale 5 noticed you and gave you SOME recognition! If only Piero, Igna and Gian knew of all the work you and Pat did putting these columns together, I’m sure they would appreciate it, also.
I’m sure you don’t do it for recognition, but it would be the icing on the cake, wouldn’t it??? Hugs from your old friend, Dol. 🧡🧡🧡
I totally agree ❤️
I agree also, Dol. I feel that Daniela should be given a pair of tickets to every show she is able to attend!
Thank you Judi, you’re too kind!! 😍
Dol, I agree with you and the fact the boys MUST give credit to our gals who are the best public relations communicators in Italy and beyond! If I hadn’t discovered the Flight by accident I wouldn’t have become the raving fan of IlVolo! The Flight staff should be given free passes to all concerts as they spread the word faster than a bird in flight! (By the way if this comes to fruition, may I be the official Western Representative for North America as I promise to promote our boys until there is no one in this land who isn’t aware of them).
Now may I say the Il Volo prayer-
( I have to work on it as the only Italian words I know are not appropriate)
Stay tuned everyone and I’ll be back with the prayer soon!
Love to all ❤️🇨🇦🥰
Thanks to you too Sheila for the beautiful compliments, these stimulate us to write again and again and then our guys never stop and there is a lot to know!
Thanks for offering yourself as a representative of the West North America 😁
Oh Sheila, you made me smile with your compliments! I can’t wait to hear your prayer! 😊🙏🏻
Work in progress……hopefully in the next couple of days 🙏 🇨🇦 🙏
Hi Sheila, what a great idea! I volunteer to cover North East America! Carol ❤️🎼
I completely agree and will be happy to cover the SOUTH!!! We need them in some southern states!!!
You are something else, Sheila! I get a chuckle out of each of your comments. Nothing like a good Canadian sense of humour!! Hugs, Dol 🧡🧡
But how many compliments Dolores, in reality there are many fan pages and lately I have seen that even the official page of Il Volo is posting many more things. Anyway, thank you, our intent here at Flight Crew is precisely to give you as many explanations as possible, not only of what is said but also of how the facts unfold and to be able to give you a general picture and we are happy if we succeed in our intent. I am sure that Piero Ignazio and Gianluca are well aware of the existence of our group, furthermore Mr. Ercole knows what we publish.
So happy to know that they are aware of these postings and the wonderful work you and Pat are doing. Hugs, Dol
You’re most welcome, Dolores! 😊 Actually, when I was at the IL VOLO concert in Florida in March and went to the meet & greet, I gave each of the guys a note and a little something extra.
This is part of the message I put in each of their notes:
“Because of IL VOLO, MANY new friendships have been made around the world. It is truly amazing!
For example, I have made a new friend, Daniela Perani, from Brescia, Italy. We have worked together on the IL VOLO Flight Crew blog (ilvoloflightcrw.com) since 2018. I post the stories and translations that Daniela writes and sends to me. She translates into English your Italian interviews so your fans in America can get to know you better and we are truly grateful. She and I have become very close even though we have never met in person. She is an angel!”
I know that Ignazio knows of the Flight Crew because he has mentioned it before. Once, I think, when they were on the Red Ronnie show.
❤❤❤
Dol, how are you? I’ve been missing you, wishing you a happy, healthy life!
Affectionately, Carol❤️🤗🎼🙏🏻☮️💖💖💖
Still going pretty great, Carol, and thanks for asking. Many hugs back at ya! 🧡🧡🧡 Dol.
Thank you for that lovely very interesting article. I only wish I could be at that concert. When they are in the U.S. the concerts aren’t long enough. We never want them to end plus most of us do not have concert halls like that. Thank.you again for all the wonderful pictures and the one of their beloved Barbara.
Gail, the concerts in Mantua lasted 3 hours, but I assure you that they literally flew by and there were no breaks, three hours straight, and when there were moments dedicated to TV commercials our guys kept us company anyway, telling us little things. The memory of Barbara was very touching, dutiful but loving.
This concert was amazing. Despite being there in person, on Monday I was “incollata alla tv” (as this is newest expression I’ve learnt in Italian😉). And indeed, the majority of the second TV concert was taken from the second concert.
I have to admit that I didn’t know many of the guests of this evening and was a bit sad that I missed both Placido Domingo and Clara live… but Giorgia compensated for it (though I might be spoilering things a bit).
I also didn’t know Lorella Cuccarini at all and whom I saw on stage was a 40something yo lady with so much energy. Only when they showed her photos from the 1980s I had some doubts 😉
Enrico Brignano was so much fun and I was really happy that I understood and laughed with the Italian public.
I sat in row 5, it was close but not close enough to see all the details. And so only in the TV I noticed how moved the guys were after singing Hallelujah and their shining eyes.
There’s no point in denying it, Gianluca is my favourite, favourite, favourite, but I have to say that for me Ignazio was the star of the evening. He did *everything*. Singing, dancing, playing the guitar, joking…
But the best part was Modugno medley by Gianluca. I was speechless. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything more beautiful than the beginning of Amara terra mia.
And it looked so good in TV when they made the part with Vecchio frack only black and white. Such a great idea!
Oh, and then Gianluca’s introduction of Can you feel the love tonight. I paused the video so many times because I just had to write down his speech. In Italian it sounded so beautifully and it’s special that he shares with us really personal feelings and experiences.
It’s always interesting to see what duets and solos – outside of their usual repertoire – the guys choose. I loved all their choices.
They even included in the TV some of the talks between the songs, jokes etc. But I wish they wouldn’t cut any! Though then the TV version would have even more than four hours (with all the advertisements in between). But the guys are just so natural and funny.
I also liked the moment they finished singing Opera, the last song, and Piero said: “After 3.5 hours you think we’ve finished? That’s only for the TV. For you, we’ll sing Capolavoro!”
I hope the guys will film Tutti per uno also next year, too and that I’ll be able to go and spend more time in Mantova (or a new venue) and maybe even be there for the soundcheck. This time, it was just a really quick trip, 48 hours in Italy, but I can’t complain, I saw Mantova, Verona and Il Volo.
Dear Klára, I also favor Gianluca and love how he interprets Modugno’s songs. I’ve watched it at least 30 times. Yes, Vecchio’s black-and-white tailcoat was a great idea.
Hi Klara, you’re right, it’s nice to be able to see concerts you’ve been to again on TV. You can notice many nuances that may have escaped, that’s why I don’t make videos anymore when there are TV shots because there’s no doubt that the cameramen know how to do their job well.
We’ll definitely see Giorgia in the next concert and what about Lorella Cuccarini, she’s a “certainty” for us, she’s much loved by Italians and she’s also very good.
Yes, the guys were good not only at singing, but also at being the hosts and also at “holding the stage” with the comedians!!
The songs were very beautiful, but as I already said I really appreciated the memory of Modugno with three of his beautiful songs that Gianluca honored very well. Yes, Vecchio Frack in black and white is really the best and another top Can You Feel The Love Tonight (which wasn’t from our evening), but everything was beautiful.
Next time Klara I hope we can meet.
I just have to say I totally agree again ! Love them
What great pleasure to re-watch the second ”Tutti per Uno” Concert – the one I attended with Daniela and some other 4000 lucky people. Only – opposite Daniela, I could hardly recognize the concert in the beginning as the first guest appearance had been switched around and a man was now opening the concert. A male singer, I didn’t recall having seen/heard at all. And so rightly as Daniela stipulates, it was the opening from Thursday night where it rained. The Saturday concert was opened by Georgia, whom we are still awaiting to re-see. The performance of Biondi dueting with Ignazio was also left out and replaced with the red-haired lady I hadn’t heard or seen either before. Gianluca did neither sing the beautiful “Can’t your feel the love tonight” that evening, so my husband and I were a bit bewildered wondering if we had gone a bit senile not recalling the acts ;-). Never the less both the actual concert and the second Canale 5 Show were grand, impressive and so very pro carried out.
As previously mentioned I really didn’t know any of the guest stars or the co-host, but it is always interesting watching the guys with other performers and experience how easily they blend in with these and as a piece of cake sings along dueting with them as had the songs always been part of their own repertoire. It truly proves over and over that the Il Volo guys are not only talented – they are simply awesome!
Needless to say I didn’t know any of the guest performers’ songs either and hence I couldn’t sing happily along in similarity with Daniela and family – but, after all I was able to join in when Ignazio joined the co-host in her “Grease song” and my husband and I were hence up dancing along the famous Travolta steps, so not everything was unknown to us.
Albeit the English subtitles I do miss out of a lot of the fun and especially the skits – so it is of such a great help to have Daniela’s translations and explanations as in all honesty, my husband and I didn’t have a clue as to i.e. the skit where the guys were wearing old military hats and swaying the Italian flag… not until Daniela and her husband told us that the man was supposed to be the famous Garibaldi and that the song could be interpreted in more ways and give a bit of a different meaning if you wanted it (a bit naughty as we understand). And the added explanation above gives it all meaning now and does finally make us smile along too.
I was pretty surprised about Gianluca’s choices for his soli at this concert – in fact I had never heard any of them before. Especially puzzled I was with the very long but also very emotionally and deeply personalized performed “chanson-like” tune he dazzled us with and for which he was given a standing ovation. But I had no clue as to the story about this song until I read Daniela’s explanation above. So the song wasn’t really as strange as I thought – but in fact a medley of 3 songs put together. Suddenly it gave full meaning and explained the different rhythms and styles mixed in same. Learning the name and story of the song-writer – well that made it even so much more understandable to me. I do certainly know him and his world famous “Volare” – but the songs in the medley performed by Gianluca was totally unknown to me. Thank you so much indeed Daniela for enlightening me . PS: By the way, “Volare” was played in my country already when I was a little girl – but with Danish lyrics – and you would probably be surprised to learn that these lyrics were quite weird and directly translated would read: “To-day I am oh so happy – as tomorrow I am off to have a bath”…. hence always having made me think the song was truly silly… Sorry!
Thanks again for everything and warmest regards from Kirsten, Denmark
I have to say Kirsten that you made me laugh when you wrote that you and Steen thought you had senile problems not remembering some moments of the concert ah ah!!
I’m also happy that my explanations helped you to better understand the various moments and that the translation of the lyrics helped you to better understand the meaning of certain beautiful songs.
It also made me laugh to discover the meaning of the text Volare in Danish ah ah.
For the rest, tonight we will see the last concert in Mantua which will surely be opened by Giorgia. I didn’t want to watch many videos of this evening so it will be a surprise for me too and tomorrow I will start the translation immediately.
