IL VOLO TOUR: FUENGIROLA and BUCHAREST by Daniela

Not even a day has passed since the concert in Merida that Il Volo is doing their last concert on Spanish soil, exactly in Fuengirola.

JUNE 21

The concert was held at the MARENOSTRUM event.
Here is a video by Gianluca showing us where the concert will take place.

The organizers of MARENOSTRUM have published several short videos with these beautiful comments:
“Under the stars, music takes on another dimension.
And with Il Volo it becomes something eternal.
The elegance of music in its purest form.
Il Volo, live from Marenostrum Fuengirola, with an incredible repertoire in a night to be transported.
Fuengirola sounds different tonight.
The starry sky, the illuminated castle…
And three voices that are filling every corner with beauty.
Il Volo is not singing. It is touching the soul of everyone present.
The air is cut with emotion.
No one bats an eyelid. No one wants it to end.
Il Volo is making magic live.
The sound of thousands of hearts beating to the same rhythm.
It’s Il Volo live. It’s time. It’s unique.
One night. Three voices. A thousand emotions.
This is how Il Volo sounded on the Unicaja stage of Marenostrum Fuengirola.
A concert that touched the soul and left a mark in every corner of the castle.
Final concert and standing audience.
Applause that never ends, emotion that doesn’t enter the chest.
This was not a concert. It was a gift.
THANK YOU ❤️”

The applause of the people!!

Since the day after the concert is Piero’s birthday, people took the opportunity to wish him a happy birthday and give him lots of presents.🎉🎂🎊❤️ TANTI AUGURI PIERO!! 😍
How difficult it can be to present a song when so many people want to express their sincere affection.
I think Piero was touched by so much love.❤️😂
PIERO= The song we just sang and the next one we will sing were written by an Italian composer (a woman hands Piero a rose) …. “Hello, madam, thank you very much, thank you…..it’s Christmas today! (because a line of women has started to hand out flowers and gifts)….thank you madam”.
WOMAN= It’s your birthday!
PIERO= Ah, tomorrow is my birthday and so…. (applause)….that’s why all these gifts. (in the meantime Gianluca and Ignazio also help to get the gifts).
Thank you, but you should know that tomorrow is my birthday but in a few days Ignazio will become a father (applause – Ignazio makes a sign to Piero as if to say that it is not in a few days), but yes, a few days, a month, two months, whatever… months are like days, there are a few left…… (Piero tries to resume the presentation of the song)… so we were saying that the next melody we will sing was written by a composer…. (Gianluca interrupts starting the Happy XMas song, laughter.)
What direction is this evening taking?
IGNAZIO= (In the meantime Ignazio also receives some gifts, a onesie for little Gabriele)
This is for the gym (laughter).
PIERO= (still tries to resume the presentation of the song, but the gifts continue to arrive)
Ok, the melody……thank you ma’am….
IGNAZIO= Surely there is a flower shop outside! Thank you. (laughter)
PIERO= (tries to resume the presentation)
OK, the melody…this is the last time I repeat it (laughter), the melody that we sang and the next one was also written by the Italian composer Ennio Morricone (applause)…..thank you ma’am….Ennio Morricone. Ladies and gentlemen, the next song is called “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” (SE).
Il Volo also answered questions in an interview.

For those who want to see the whole concert, here is the video.

BG Sound, who organized the concert, wrote these words and published these beautiful photos.
“Emotion. Tears. Laughing out loud. Messages from the soul sent in 3 voices: Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca!
Il Volo made the Palace Hall ring on a summer evening. Il Volo got the audience on their feet, not just the encore. 2 hours of music that transcends time, and takes emotion to another level!
👏 We thank the audience in Bucharest for the sensational evening!”
I would say two more concerts that were successful.
I can say that the atmosphere in Bucharest was really strange, even our guys were very relaxed, almost like a performance among friends, maybe the very informal attitude of the people and I must also say the great heat, influenced a performance with a less perfect tone but very familiar.
But as always there is no time to rest, immediately back to Italy with a stop in Turin for an evening in the square, but we’ll talk about it in the next post!!
Daniela 🤗

And finally, here is a prayer composed by our dear friend, Sheila Kilpatrick, for our beloved guys of IL VOLO and fans.

LORD,

In this world, there is a Masterpiece (Capolavoro) Among the waves (Tra le ondé).

Bless the trio of men who show Great Love (Grande Amore) to The World (Il Mondo).

They take Flight (Il Volo), and are so out of sight (Lontano dogli occhi) .

They are very close (Vicinissimo ) to you Again (Ancora).

We ask your love (Your Love) and Call Me Again Love (Chiamami Ancora Amore).

Shower all your blessings on their beloved, if not somewhat crazy fans!

HALLELUJAH

Sheila noted that “Hallelujah” is one of her many favorite songs and was written by a fellow Canadian, Leonard Cohen.

  1. I was surprised to see Ignazio getting way out ahead of Gianluca with the flashy clothes. It gave Gianluca a chance to get back at Ignazio for his teasing all these years.
The comments from the organizers are poetic.

    1. Gail surprised me too Ignazio with that outfit, we’ll see if it’s a one-off or if it continues over time.
      Those comments are really top!

  2. Thanks ladies, this was awesome! All the accolades and the energy in the room (or stadium) is incredible, loving that everyone is finally seeing that they are more than beautiful faces with gorgeous voices but beautiful souls who fill all our souls with love and kindness. Everything they stand for stands out in the open for all to witness. It is true they are a gift from God to our broken world…..May this gift heal so many souls who are lost and hurting.
As always love the videos and will be watching the concert later!
Also to Shiela, congrats on the lovely prayer for our 3 wonders!
Love and affection to both of you always, Carol 💖💖💖🎼🎵🎹🎤❤️😘🤗🙏🏻☮️

Luz, I couldn’t have found better words than yours to express what we all feel.

“The harmony, the coordination, even the roles that each one plays in the dialogues, their elegant ironic touches and even a minimal dose of bitter gothic, make every moment a delicious cocktail in which we mix sensitivity and nostalgia in Gianluca’s voice, joy and wit in Ignacio’s and strength and determination in Piero’s.”

The emotion of attending one of their concerts, the joy of seeing and hearing them and then the feeling of emptiness after one of their concerts, this is what I often feel from those who have been to hear them live………but then there is the announcement of a new concert!!

    2. Carol it was really gratifying to read the nice words that the concert organizers wrote for them.
We have known for a long time the greatness of these three guys, it is nice that others also notice.

  3. Thank you Daniela and Pat. Those concerts were so beautiful and what fun to be there to celebrate Piero’s birthday . Their reactions to and interactions with fans is so lovely. They really do have a special charm. ❤️

    1. Yes Janet, it was nice to see the interaction and affection that the fans had with the guys, especially with Piero. As I wrote I think Piero was honored by all this affection shown.

  4. Thank you Daniela and Pat! My love to all of you who believe in Il VOLO as much as I do! It is what I call “soul music” – their soul feeds my soul! With heart and love, I am beginning to learn Italian – Ciao 💕

    1. True Sheila, their music feeds our souls.
Thank you for the beautiful prayer you sent us.
A big hug to you and your friend.

  5. Lots of great photos and videos again (already!) Daniela and Pat. And more beautiful reviews translated for us too. It looks like they are still selling out the venues–or almost–which is wonderful. Can’t wait for your Torino post–that looked wild!

    1. Thanks Judi, I really wanted to translate the comments made by the concert organizers because they are words of great gratification and admiration and often, put over the photos, they are not read. We note every time with pride that wherever Il Volo goes, even for the first time, it leaves a beautiful mark.

  6. Dear Daniela and Pat, I have to thank you again for the nice summary of the last two concerts of the guys. I would like to contribute a few comments about the first one in Fuengirola.

So far I have only had the opportunity to attend one Il Volo concert in Prague. When I found out that the guys would be performing in Fuengirola, it was immediately clear to me that I wanted to be there. I love Latin American and Spanish music. And I also know that the guys adapt their repertoire to the country they are performing in. So I was excited when the date was announced. For me it was a unique opportunity to see the guys with a Spanish version of their concert and at the same time spend a short vacation on the Costa del Sol in June.

Marenostrum Music Castle Park in Fuengirola is a modern outdoor concert space for two and a half thousand visitors. Since its opening in 2016, it has been one of the main music destinations in Spain. This year it celebrates its tenth anniversary. From May to October it offers a series of dozens of concerts of all possible genres. The concert stage is built right next to the beach, so it offers the audience a unique musical experience right on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Right next to the stage and stands is the magnificent iconic monument of the city of Fuengirola – the beautiful historic Castillo Sohail castle, where smaller, more intimate concerts are held. Gianluca captured the entire space beautifully in his video.

I had a sound check booked. This time, we received the meeting time notification the day before. Since the concert didn’t start until ten o’clock in the evening, we weren’t supposed to arrive for the sound check until seven o’clock. But the sounds of the orchestra could be heard for some time before that. I have to admit that it was a strange feeling. Being on the beach, enjoying your vacation, the sound of the sea… and at the same time looking at the stage, hearing the preparations for the evening concert. And knowing that somewhere out there the guys were working hard to prepare us for the perfect experience.

It was over thirty degrees during the day. Since it was still very hot in the evening, I hoped that we wouldn’t have to wait long. There were about twenty of us there, mostly Spanish, a little English. And there was also a lady from England and Slovenia who had also attended the concert in Mantua and was showing us photos. After about fifteen minutes of waiting, they let us in and we could all sit in the front row.

The sound check was relatively short, a little over half an hour. I had the impression that some of the musicians were a little uncomfortable because the sun was shining directly in their faces. There were tents in the middle of the stage, but they only partially provided shade for the guys and Giampiro at the piano, because the sun was already quite low. Gianluca was elegant as always and when he wasn’t singing, he would occasionally wave or smile at us.

Usually it’s Ignazio who makes jokes and lightens the atmosphere. But this time nothing. It seemed like he was busy solving some things, quite often he looked at his mobile or ran backstage. But all the song rehearsals and singing were as always professional. On the contrary, Piero seemed to not mind the heat at all, he ran around the stage and occasionally exchanged a few words with us or laughed. And yes, it was a surprise for me too when I saw Ignazio’s new image. But if he feels comfortable like that, then why not?

The concert itself was almost sold out. When I arrived, I saw a lot of people who had settled on the benches on the promenade, between the stage and the beach. And some had a picnic right on the sand of the beach, where the concert could also be heard quite well.

The guys sang their usual repertoire with the addition of some Spanish songs – they really pleased me! Although I was a bit expecting there to be more. In any case, hearing them sing live under the starry sky is an incredible experience. The audience was enthusiastic because the guys gave a really great performance. The gaps between the individual songs were filled with information about the origin of the songs performed and of course also jokes between the guys. And I have to say that this time Ignazio was the most frequent target of jokes.

I was surprised that Ignazio did not sing any of his solos. Only Gianluca and Piero took turns on stage, Gian performed more solo songs. I have no idea why, I can only assume that he was protecting his vocal cords for some reason? Maybe that is why this concert was a little shorter than the usual two hours. Unfortunately, the concert passed very quickly and the guys said goodbye. But not for long. We kind of forced their return and another added song – just keep clapping. And then one more piece.

What else I really have to praise (apart from the guys, of course) is the work of the sound engineer. I have not heard such a well-tuned volume setting of the orchestra and singing for a long time. Sometimes it happens that the sound of the orchestra or musical instruments in general drowns out or drowns out the sound of the singer’s voice. Especially when he sings softly. But here everything was in perfect harmony. The boys all have beautiful voices and here the background music let their voices subtly dominate all phases of the song, underlining their beauty.

    1. Thanks in fine Iva for the beautiful and detailed report of the concert, full of details that we could not know and therefore adds a lot of knowledge.
I am very happy that you enjoyed the concert despite the perhaps oppressive heat, so I imagine the difficulty for the players and for the voices of our beloved guys, but despite everything it was a beautiful concert.
I also love songs in Spanish and I always hope that they do some in every concert.
Next time if you still have a long and detailed report send it to our email to the attention of Pat and Daniela so we can make an article more visible to everyone. Thanks again for your submission.

      1. Eine Freundin sagte mir, dass es beim Konzert in Bukarest sehr heiß war, weil die Klimaanlage nicht funktionierte.

      2. Thank you Daniela for your kind words. I also bought tickets for their concert in Vienna, in the fourth row. So I will definitely take advantage of your offer, I will try to remember all the more details. Imagine, we almost thought I saw you in Fuengirola. Especially after your last sentence in the previous article “See you soon in Fuengirola”. There was a lady there who looked incredibly similar to you, but I didn’t have the courage to ask.

  7. Each time I read listen to and watch the videos of the guys it brings back my special first time seeing them and knowing that no other music has touched me like theirs does … Talented yes of course good lookig, but the emotioal connection they bring to us all is in short amazing!!!! Thank you as always for the wonderful insiteful and fun you give us with each story!!!

    1. You’re welcome and I feel the same way, Cindi…..no other music has touched my soul like theirs. 😊 I heard a song of theirs in 2016 and it struck me like none other……before I even saw their handsome faces! 🥰

    2. Cindi and Pat – obviously we all have been bitten by the same bug! There is no cure, so we have to live with it! This “bug” leaves no physical damage to the body, however it effects (affects?) our hearts and souls!
How three men’s voices collectively and individually gain control over us is unbelievable!
It is the unfortunate disease we have to live with! Only relief is to go to another concert! Start saving NOW!

      1. I’m also in the boat as all of you…..I’ve never been so enthralled with a singer let alone a group that have always touched me so deeply! It’s an amazing disorder to have!!🥹 Carol

    3. It was the same for me Cindi, from the first time I heard Il Volo by chance it was love for their music, and for their way of being. In the end I think it was the beginning for many of us, a music that hits you right away and doesn’t abandon you.

  8. OMG, Sheila, it’s the famous Il Volo Love Bug! I got bitten in 2011 and now it’s just as bad as ever…if not worse! 😍🥰❤️

  9. Thank you so so much, dear Daniela, for your effort to keep us all updated and to delight our eyes and ears with the pictures and sounds of our desrest boys!
What else can I say.. I attended the concert în Bucharest, I waited for it anxioulsy for so long.. but, I am glad that somebody else sensed something strange, using your words,
“I can say that the atmosphere in Bucharest was really strange, even our guys were very relaxed, almost like a performance among friends, maybe the very informal attitude of the people …”
I thought I wss crazy.. but indeed I had a strange feeling .. they didn’t interact with the audience as much as ususl.. the concert itself was a bit shorter than 2 usual hours.. Ignazio seemed mostly reserved and as I remember, he didn’t have a solo..
    I don’t know, but I was a bit worried ..

    1. Thanks Denisa for the compliments, I’m happy that you like what we publish.
I’m happy that you were at the concert in Bucharest and as for the atmosphere, yes indeed there was a feeling a little different from usual, sometimes I think that Ignazio Piero and Gianluca are very professional to do one concert after another on days that can also be “no” and always demonstrate their joy and lightheartedness. Sometimes there are situations that don’t make you be in the best mood, it happens to everyone, we are human, but I have to say that despite this premise the concerts of our guys have always been memorable events and only assiduous fans and those who love them like us, notice certain details.
