TORINO IS FANTASTIC AND MORE by Daniela

As I told you, there is no rest for our three guys, we left them in Bucharest and immediately after they ran home to Italy, to Turin for a beautiful performance, among many other singers, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, as part of the feast of San Giovanni.
The participation of the public was incredible, as you can see from the photo below.
It’s a really hot Italian summer and these events in the square attract a lot of people, especially a lot of young people, so I’m very happy when Il Volo joins in on this type of performance, moreover the event was performed live on June 24th, but Mediaset, in particular Canale 5 broadcast it on June 29th.
Here is the moment of Il Volo.
Il Volo sang three songs:
CAPOLAVORO
GRANDE AMORE
NESSUN DORMA
I start by attaching the two videos from Canale 5, I hope that most of you can see them because they are of excellent quality. The presenter of the evening is Gerry Scotti who introduced Il Volo with beautiful words that I propose to you immediately.
G.SCOTTI= The next ones are artists ambassadors of Italian music in the world.
They are much loved artists with crystalline talent. They are at home on Canale 5, also because they rarely see their real home because they are always around the world with their fantastic concerts, but tonight they are here with us, with you: Il Volo!
(At the end of Grande Amore Gerry Scotti enters the stage and sings with Il Volo. The audience singing with our guys is incredible)

G.SCOTTI= We are about to listen to a timeless masterpiece of Italian opera, and the reason why in introducing you I literally defined you “the youngest ambassadors of Italian music in the world”.
By now you have the success you deserve and the applause of this square is yet another demonstration because I followed your shows on television and you already knew it.
PIERO= Thanks Gerry.
G.SCOTTI= So, the three microphone stands are already positioned, everything is ready, please gentlemen (to the guys) I will make an official introduction: Ladies and gentlemen, it is the first time I make an introduction with this voice, from Turandot by Giacomo Puccini Il Volo sings NESSUN DORMA.

And for those who can’t watch the Canale 5 videos, here is the video of Capolavoro and Grande Amore and Nessun Dorma published by Il Volo en Clase, which we thank.

And now some fan-made videos.

Towards the end of the evening, a young dancer, Francesco, also performed on stage, performing his dance to the music of WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER sung by Il Volo, so that this song was also heard by the audience.
A series of beautiful photos.
The newspapers talked about the Turin event. I’ll translate for you what they wrote about Il Volo in the DILEI newspaper.
Il Volo, Nessun Dorma, thrilling. Rating 9
They have toured the world with their voices, but seeing them on an Italian stage always has a special charm. The guys from Il Volo arrive in perfectly coordinated black suits, sobriety and class in every detail. They sing with pathos, passion, impeccable technique. They thrill and warm the soul, so much so that Gerry Scotti can’t resist and goes up on stage to join them. But the highlight is Nessun Dorma: a textbook performance, powerful, vibrant, that makes more than one person in the square’s legs tremble. Il Volo confirms itself as the perfect bridge between opera and pop, and on an evening like this they know how to be the absolute protagonists without overdoing it.
But there is still more to see, because on June 26 Il Volo participates in an event on Lake Como, and precisely at Villa d’Este. Nothing has leaked about the evening, Villa d’Este published this press release the following day:
“What can we say about last night? The anniversary of our 150 seasons of emotions deserved to be celebrated with such style and joy! Many thanks to ALL our Guests (not only those who joined yesterday’s celebrations) and to our wonderful staff who made this fairy tale come true.”
(The photo attached to the press release was not taken during the evening but at the same event in which Il Volo participated a couple of years ago.)
Instead our guys sent us these photos taken in the beautiful gardens of Villa d’Este.
But the month of June is not over yet and so from Lake Como, off to Naples on June 28th, and exactly in the beautiful gulf of Sorrento, to the luxurious and exclusive Maya Beach Experience for a private event, of which I can offer you these video fragments.

Il Volo’s June commitments are over, but Gianluca still finds time to attend the Festival della Gentilezza in Roseto, on June 29th.
Congratulations Gianluca!!
Gianluca’s speech lasted an hour and is a long, rather philosophical speech about science and the sacred.
The video I propose to you was posted by LA LUMERA and the subtitles were added by Donalee Dragna, thanks Donalee, great job!!
And finally the month of June is over.
I would say that it has been very busy for our guys and so I hope that now they have the deserved rest, also here in Italy it is really hot.
Congratulations to our guys for having honored all their planned and unexpected commitments in the best way.
Piero, Gianluca, Ignazio recharge your batteries with a long summer break, your fans are waiting for you for all the many future concerts!!

It was really fantastic to see them on stage in Turin, Luz, also because those concerts in the square are attended by very young people and therefore they certainly give a different energy and confirm that our guys are known also by a younger audience, even though Italian radios almost never let them listen to them.

      1. Thank you for your posts again , pictures, videos and to everyone who helped too.
        Linda

  2. What a month for all of them, indeed! May their talent and dedication be rewarded with continued success and recognition! And may they always be so joyous, energetic and beloved! Thank you, Daniela! It is always a delight to read your posts!

    1. Thanks for the compliments Maria, and what can I say, June was also beautiful and full of things.

  3. I liked the pictures of the guys that you mentioned but i think the very first picture is a beauty.
It must be rewarding for them to get this reaction to Grande Amore, which is their song.
    Thank you Pat and Daniela

    1. Gail, the reaction of the people was absolutely gratifying, for them, but also for all of us who love them.

  4. Beautiful! The concert in Torino was so gratifying for them! Incredible crowd and their response to Grand Amore was heartwarming! The guys deserve their time off……so do you two!!! Gian is so amazing, complex and deep thinking…..also very composed. Thank you to the woman who translated his speech, not having been formally educated past 8 yrs. His thirst for learning lead him to books….very challenging books to learn! He’s very special to me but I do love all three! I’m proud of him for taking his education for himself.
Thank you both for the photos, videos and the translations!
God Bless you both and keep you safe and healthy during this very hot summer…. Sending love and prayers, Carol 💖💖💖🎵🎼🎹🎤❤️🤗😘🙏🏻☮️

    1. Yes Carol, the people gathered in Turin were very gratifying and this fills us with pride and certainly makes our beloved guys forget their tiredness. Gianluca’s thoughts are absolutely profound and I admire them a lot, but I wouldn’t want him to get lost in such important reflections and leave out other beauties of life.

  5. Ciao. Daniele
Hope you are able to cope with the heatwave.
Thank you again for the review on the last concerts etc.
Always making them so interesting and giving good descriptions.
    You deserve an award.

I did see Gianluca’s talk on social media, very interesting and so moving, I know he is deep with his thoughts and so mindful.
I have also been practicing mindfulness as I needed some help, when I lost my husband, and also I have some issues from when I was a child which does stay with you so I can understand Gianluca’s thoughts on life in a way.
He seems a caring and kind man, and hope that will never change.
As usual Piero and Ignazio are amazing, I love all 3 but Piero is for me a favorite. A warm smile and an amazing tenor.
Will the Chanel 5 concerts be going on YouTube?
    I haven’t noticed them.

Yes hopefully they will have some time out to rest before the next chapter.
Grazie mille, abbi cura di te stai bene.
    Con amore
    Fenella x🌹☀️

    1. Fenella, I have to tell you that the heat wave has eased a little and is much more bearable but there were evenings, already with the sun set, that it was impossible to stay outside because of the heat, so I can imagine who had to sing in those situations!!
I also hope that Gianluca will take his mind off very burdensome thoughts and reflections a little and relax his time enjoying his holidays with Claudia!

      1. Hi Daniela, Yes heatwave here has cooled down but apparently it will be hot again from tomorrow.
I think Gianluca will always be mindful, but hopefully he will settle in his life and be happy in whatever he does.
Thank you again will look forward to read any future reviews on the amazing Il Volo.
        Take care and keep cool.
        ☀️🫶 Fenella.

  6. Sorry I also meant to put Pat, thank you too for your review.
You and Daniele are amazing t o put your time into this.
    Grazie mille.
    Fenella 🫶

  7. Love your posts, videos, pictures and what ever else of concerts. Great job everyone ! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July too !❤️🇺🇸🎉🎊❤️

    1. Linda you are always full of nice compliments, thank you!!
I think Pat had a wonderful 4th of July celebrating with family, mine, being Italian, was a normal Friday but I thought of all of you a lot.

You’re right, Ina, what a bad memory, but unfortunately even bad memories are part of the circle of life.
Barbara was a special person and her memory will always remain linked to the memory of Il Volo!

  9. Thanks a million for this article which I find really interesting. Yes, of course I am very happy to learn how well their performance was received in Torino and that they were considered for this event aimed at a broader audience than usually – and likewise for being once again chosen by the elegant hotel at Lake Como for the private celebration there – but what I really found interesting was the long meeting in Roseto, where Gianluca was one of the main participants/guests? discussing very profound topics/questions on life. I must admit that I didn’t understand half of what was said. Mainly because they spoke so fast that the subtitles in English most kindly provided by Donna were swept across the screen faster than I could read. Coppled with English not being my native tongue the topic was too deep for me fully to understand. In spite of same I caught the essence and do now understand that Gianluca is deeply involved in philosophical aspects and is an even deeper thinker than I was aware of. I appreciate that he puts question marks to life, where we come from, what our purpose on Earth is etc. but I am also somewhat concerned if he puts too much in it and doesn’t make up his own points of views but rather puts too much trust in the old thinkers and their ideas… I do, however, hope that he uses his studies to broaden his knowledge only and put him at ease but also that pretty soon he will have found himself and come back to a more European way of thinking and his own roots. He needs to enjoy the last years of his youth to the fullest and have his priorities right. There were also some interesting facts to draw from this event, namely that indeed he is love with the sweet Claudia but likewise that at least for yet some time he has no intentions of settling down and marry – if ever! Of course he need to be truly sure of such a big step but likewise he has to watch out that his girlfriends do not loose their patience with him and give up waiting on him…

Well enough for now apart from can anyone tell me who the guy is with whom he has this interlectual conversation? Is it a priest? A monk? A budhist? Or some other welllnown thinker? To me it seems like he had been some kind of mentor for Gianluca? And what was the event all about apart from last year having selecting Gianluca as an ambassador of kindness? I must confess I really don’t understand what it was all about. Thanks.

    Warmest regards – Kirsten 🇩🇰

      2. Hello Ina. Yes, you’re right. Gianluca also summarized his own thoughts by saying that it’s not an either/or situation, but rather about reconciling the philosophical universe with scientific facts. Therefore, my formulation above was unfair. However, he seems to have adapted the ideas of many philosophers and thinkers and used them to present his own thoughts and questions. I think it’s very grand that he’s trying to find answers to some of the world’s biggest questions and studying these wise people and their profound books. But I’m also afraid that it’s taking over his life a bit too much. He meditates several times a day now and talks about Buddha, etc. I think he’s still Catholic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he traveled to the Far East (Bali/India/Himmalayas) in the near future to learn more about the great ideas of these societies. This could lead to him distancing himself too much from IL VOLO – and perhaps even becoming a bit too much for his girlfriends, preventing him from living the wonderful life that awaits him in that regard. He’ll never be able to complete his “search” and try to understand why we humans are here on Earth and who he is. This could end up wasting his chances. And yes, you’re right, he and Claudia has only had a short time together, most of it during his world travels. He had her with him for a while in Florida, USA, last year though – but obviously they need a lot more time to get to know each other properly before they may decide to marry. But that wasn’t exactly what I was thinking of – I just noticed that he said he might NEVER want to get married… and that’s different. Best regards – Kirsten

    2. Excuse me but your judgements always seem so uncompromising… and I just think that it’s the music, songs, and the concerts we as fans should concentrate on and judge them… But otherwise – be it their clothing, weight, life choices, beliefs – why should the fans judge or evaluate that? That’s not my business, it’s Gianluca’s life and I certainly don’t know better than him what’s right for him.
And if he never gets married? So what! As a cat lady for life I can tell you that life is beautiful that way, too 😉

      1. Thank you Klara! I strongly agree with your comments! I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if anyone may comment. Kirsten you write so well , I am not certain your comments speak to IlVolo fans hopes and dreams. Il Volo owns us as fans – we don’t own them! Should Gian go in another direction I’ll still love who is is and his beautiful voice; Ignacio may go into creative production, yet I’ll still love who he is and bless Piero who sounds he has the love of a woman who will support me him in achieving his opera dream – they will be IlVolo if that’s what They choose!
Who these 3 souls and who gets wedding invites, who chooses Catholic religion forever (I tried 3 different religions and the winner was none of them ) and my brother is a Married Anglican priest! My point is he is a wonderful person who chose his path and I still love and support him!
Enough from me as I need to get groceries!!

      2. Message for Klara and Sheila
I am sorry that you do not appreciate my comments. We are a huge group of people from all corners of the world, from all walks of life and all with different cultures and backgrounds. Hence, of course, we are bound to have different opinions and, therefore, cannot agree on everything. And we shouldn’t! A part of a good debate is offering each other different takes on an issue and respecting our differences in which way we learn, evolve and broaden our knowledge.

Personally, I am a very observant and analytic person always seeing both sides of a coin – and weighing then towards each other forms my opinions. Also when it comes to Il Volo. Add to that, that I am Scandinavian, meaning that I am pretty frank and cutting right to the chase. What I offer you is, however, my honest and sincere thoughts in all respects well knowing, that many of you may have different opinions or experienced a situation in a different manner. I do always welcome a serious debate and fully respect other points of views whether or not they may be understandable to me. I have been a member of this fine group of people for more than 5 years and found it my “home” as to the Il Volo guys – a safe and loving environment where we respect each other and can bring forth the thoughts, feelings and impact these guys have on us that often aren’t understood by others. We are gathered here because we all love these guys and wish them all the best in the world.

To me Il Volo is a lot more than their beautiful voices, wonderful music and fantastic concerts – namely their personalities. What puts me in awe are the love they spread – towards each other on/off stage, across the edge of the stage to the audience, to their families, to their fans, to other artists with whom they co-operate, TV-hosts etc. – cobbled with their good manners of conduct, friendly approach to everyone and always honest answers. They are so much more than “just” 3 singers. They are role models for their generation and they are the sons/grandsons, that many of us would love to have had ourselves. They are simply so very special, hence, I love to know all there is to learn about them and I appreciate the articles and videos that Daniela and the Flight Crew Team offer us on other aspects of their lives and to which our response always have been appreciated. We have been rooting on Piero at marathons; we are sharing the joy and excitement of Ignazio’s wedding and upcoming baby and we feel proud when Gianluca speaks publically on violence towards women or urge young people to stay true to themselves etc. etc. – all that makes Il Volo so much more than a group of singers. Slander and gossip have never been accepted here – but as long as a good and respectful tone is used I have never experienced that any relevant topic hasn’t been welcomed – and I sincerely hope that this will remain unchanged in the future.
        Kind regards – Kirten.

      3. Kirsten I never said I did not appreciate you comments! I appreciate all your posts and love to read them always . The fact is I believe we are all saying the same thing , just using different words based on where we live!
I chuckled when you said you are frank and direct! Something about being Scandinavian
I don’t know any Danish, Norwegian or Swedes thus I don’t understand the nuances of the languages!
As a Canadian raised on the West Coast of Canada my communication style is likely softer – just the way I was raised personally I would like to say it is OK to agree to disagree!
We all love IlVolo , love the hours of work done by piitter-pat, 58Daniela, Jana to keep us so informed in many lsngusges with wonderful videos!
I should add I LOVE humour however I have to be careful when I use its as not everyone understands!
I hope we can all Cheer on the ‘boys’in the band !

    3. Hi Kirsten, I’m responding to your last comment.
The person speaking to Gianluca, sitting on the couch, is Daniel Lumera.
I’ll take the information from his official website:

“A naturalist biologist and research fellow in the sociology of cultural and communicative processes, he is a bestselling author, lecturer, and international figure in the field of well-being and quality of life.

He is considered one of the leading experts in meditation practice in Italy and abroad. He edits the column “7 Breaths” for 7, the weekly magazine of the “Corriere della Sera.”

He is the creator of the My Life Design® method, founder of the International Kindness Movement, which promotes the values of kindness, peace, and cooperation globally, and of La Lumera O.d.V., which applies the method to projects with a high social impact.”

During the hour-long conversation with Gianluca, Daniel mentioned that he took monastic vows during a period of his life.

      1. I’m responding here to Kirsten, Ina, Klara, and Sheila.
I pretty much agree with all of you, even though you all have conflicting opinions.
Kirsten, I too am afraid that the depth of his thoughts might lead Gianluca to a period of philosophical stagnation, but I believe his intelligence in overcoming certain situations doesn’t completely bog him down in long philosophical thoughts, which he is now completely fascinated by.

The relationship with Claudia seems to be working well, even if there are obstacles imposed by the thoughts of some fans that I find truly out of place.

Ina, you’re right; Gianluca doesn’t just express other people’s thoughts; besides being fascinated by them, he has certainly expressed his own personal vision in the discussion.

Klara and Sheila, I don’t completely agree that we should only talk about our guys on a musical level. It’s true that their private lives are untouchable, but there are aspects that they themselves lay bare for everyone to see. So Gianluca often shares pages from books he’s reading that he would otherwise keep secret. And the speech he gave in Roseto was published and several newspapers covered it, so why shouldn’t we fans talk about it? Of course, everything must be done with full respect for ideas and people, and I think that’s exactly what we do here.

      2. Daniela I agree with you 100%! My point was and still is to be respectful in comments and opinions. Whatever is put out publically is fair game for comment! A light hearted comment from me is to admit I tried to use Google to translate a sentence from a book Gian was reading. Google said « unable to find a compatible language « ! It made me laugh out loud! It said to me even Gian knows more than Google!
Now back to watching tennis! I love the fact there are some players from all nations – especially Italy!
Thanks to all for friendship and love to each other!

      3. Thanks for this valued information – it makes sense. So it has been him selecting Gianluca as an Ambassador of Kindness last year – and kind of fits perfectly with the thought I got that he had been and/or is mentor for Gianluca in the philosophical areas and meditation. Thanks a lot – much appreciated. Love – Kirsten ❤️👍

  10. Fantastic article, videos and pictures. I may have sent this already. Thanks to everyone and love Il volo forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  11. I hope it’s not too late to make a comment on this particular blog date. I totally enjoyed reading the excellent exchange of ideas and opinions for this particular blog (Gianluca’s philosophy) on this website. Because of all your comments (I used Google Translate) it became clearer to me what he said on other parts of his speech.

I became an avid fan of Il Volo starting December 28, 2024 after watching their PBS Christmas concert. I considered learning of them, a great gift for my 80th birthday. I completely immersed myself about them by watching and re-watching any videos (concerts, interviews, Instagram reels, Il Volo Flight crew blogs/comments), I could find about this incredible trio, from 2009. I was also so happy and gratified when I attended their concert on March 10, 2025 at the Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater FL USA. The voice harmony of this trio is incredible, indescribable and truly magical. I wish for them a long term collaboration.

The three guys of IL Volo are truly admirable for their individual talents from the time they started as teens as to date, now in their 30s. Their combined voices bring a euphoric effect on every listener (I think). Ignazio’s stratospheric voice hits those high notes effortlessly. He is so versatile he could either be an operatic singer or a heavy metal music star. He seems unaware that he has a huge voice that reaches almost to an ear-piercing scream. Piero has that greatly executed, well-controlled, majestic tenor voice that reaches to the highest level gently without stressing the listener. It clearly shows proper training. His arias captivate and keep you entranced.

Now to Gianluca, his voice, his personality, and his philosophy in life. I unabashedly admit, am an admirer of Gianluca. I find his voice so soothing, so calming, so smooth and romantic it brings you to an emotion you thought you have lost at a certain age. He can also move to rock and operatic music without difficulty. His voice is not to overpower but…… to connect. At 14, I consider him the only child prodigy. His voice at age 14 was so magnificent and sounded unbelievably like a 30-year old professional singer. Voice coaches all over the world thought and stated, he had the classical training with his proper breathing, placement of vowels, etc. I totally agree with Myron Heaton that Gianluca has the biggest chest resonance of the three. Ignazio and Piero had great voices at that time too, appropriate for their respective ages. I firmly believe that Cenci strategically and carefully chose the two to match Gianluca’s unique talent and they were the very best of the best to match him.

Gianluca was probably brought into this world (God’s kiss to life!) to bring unexplored philosophies to others by being a famous and beloved part of Il Volo. At his speech as the Ambassador of Kindness, I did find his thoughts to be so profound, thought-provoking but I may not truly understand each and every thought. His very good looks ❤️❤️ , lovable character, emotional connection add to his ability to make people listen to him and maybe explore or just think of his philosophies in life. But, all these are his, his beauty regiment, his moments of meditation before going to bed and most especially his choice of songs that have profound and thought-provoking meanings. As fans, our individual reactions are all valid and respected. We could follow him on his explorations or just leave them as they are. Thank you
