After the brief summer break, the long Italian outdoor tour resumes with a concert in beautiful Sicily—specifically:
August 22/23 TAORMINA
The concert took place at the Ancient Theatre.
Taormina is a highly sought-after destination for Il Volo concerts, firstly because two of the members (Ignazio and Piero) are at home in Sicily, but also because it was one of the places that hosted them when they were not yet widely popular in Italy. Furthermore, despite its small size, Taormina is a favorite among concertgoers, offering a magnificent ancient theater with a stunning view of the sea and Mount Etna in the background. Known as the “Pearl of the Ionian,” Taormina was also recently singled out by *The Times* for its beauty.
But let’s take a look at the concert. Look at the beautiful video Il Volo has posted.

È LA MIA VITA
BRUCIA LA TERRA (Theme from The Godfather – Piero)
The guitarist performing the song is Edo Ferragamo. He posted about his meeting with Piero on his Facebook page, a truly wonderful experience, and I am sharing it here in his own words.
2 hours notice. A borrowed guitar from a restaurant. A song I had never played before. 5,000 people.
What started with a question from Piero Barone, Il Volo over lunch — “Do you want to play with us tonight?” turned into one of those moments I’ll never forget.
A couple hours later I was walking on stage at the Teatro Antico di Taormina to play The Godfather with Il Volo .. and we got a standing ovation. 💗
Thank you, Il Volo for having me, and especially Piero for trusting me enough to throw me into the deep end. 😂 💗 Grateful for the trust, the adrenaline, and a night that reminded me why I love doing this. I’ll never forget this moment … But see you again tonight for round 2.
🎸
Edo Ferragamo’s wife posted these words and this video clip of second night with electric guitar.
“The most special 2 nights watching my husband perform with Il Volo at the Teatro Antico in Taormina.
Still can’t believe what I witnessed… the incredible @barone_piero singing the Godfather song IN SICILY, a 30 piece orchestra, with Edo on Spanish guitar… a style he had never played before, on a guitar borrowed from the restaurant down the street, after learning the song just two hours before soundcheck!!
I will never forget how epic these nights were… could not be more proud of you Edo Ferragamo bravissimo!!”

TN24 Taormina News24 published these words and this video of the finale.
“The Ancient Theatre of Taormina lights up when Il Volo sings ‘Grande Amore’. ❤️
The audience sings along, and at the end, the entire theatre rises for a standing ovation.”

A short video of the Boschetto family’s arrival in Taormina. ❤️❤️💙
Shortly after the Taormina concerts, this wonderful news arrived:
2026 Gioia Award: honorary citizenship for Gianluca Ginoble of “Il Volo” and awards recognizing excellence in culture and journalism.
Gioia dei Marsi (a municipality in the province of L’Aquila) is preparing for its most brilliant night. The “” (Gioia Award) returns for its third edition; it is the year’s most anticipated civic and cultural event, organized by the Gioia dei Marsi municipal administration—led by Mayor Gianluca Alfonsi—and curated by De Siena Editore.
It is an occasion that celebrates the excellence, roots, and pride of an entire community, set against the evocative backdrop of Piazza della Repubblica.
The day’s events will begin on Wednesday, August 26, at 5:30 PM in the Town Hall’s Council Chamber with an extraordinary meeting of the City Council for the most moving moment of all: the conferral of honorary citizenship upon Gianluca, the internationally renowned artist from the group *Il Volo*, has always maintained a deep, affectionate bond with the Abruzzo region and his own roots.
Following this, at 9:00 PM in Piazza della Repubblica, the award presentation ceremony and the accompanying concert will take place.
The Premio Gioia 2026 will be awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves at a national level in the fields of journalism, culture, civic engagement, and entrepreneurship.
And so, the two beautiful concerts in Taormina have come to an end. It was wonderful, what a shame not to be there, with our guys in top form, accompanied by their families and surrounded by so much love from the audience. The natural setting was stunning; all in all, two unforgettable evenings.
Piero’s Sicilian version of *The Godfather* was superb!
It also looks to me like Ignazio has lost a few kilos and is in better shape.
Congratulations to Gianluca on the award he received.
In short, as always, we are so proud!
Daniela 🤗

Luz, as always, you hit the nail on the head; the strength of Il Volo lies in their unity and harmony, both in their voices and in their lives. They are a positive example for young people, an example of good manners and tolerance; it is not just about talent—it is so much more.
I have been to Taormina twice for Il Volo concerts. The Ancient Greek Theater is truly a magical place. The guys love performing there and going to Bambar for delicious granite. I hope to go again.
Sorry, RoseMarie, I didn’t translate the comment……..You’re lucky, RoseMarie. I’ve been to Taormina a couple of times, but never to the Il Volo concert, and I assure you, I would have loved to be there. Taormina is a truly enchanting place, and I had the chance to try the famous granitas at Bam Bar, delicious!!
Hi Daniela
The venue looked so amazing, such history.
I watched a lot of the concerts on media, so many fans video them so grateful to that.
Bravo Gianluca what a honour for him, so loved and he is so good with words. He has also beautiful wavy hair.
I was so moved when Piero sang the theme from the Godfather, it gave me shivers. The fact Edo Ferragamo got the opportunity to play guitar and both had to learn in 2 hours, amazing. And Ignazio sang such a long note in his solo. Michele looking on and blowing kisses.😊
Thank u for your report.
As always lovely.
Buon giornata.
Your supporter and friend Fenella ❤️
Fenella, the Ancient Theatre is a truly unique place; its history is fascinating, and the views of the sea and the volcano create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Fans travel from all over the world to attend concerts that are exceptional in both musical talent and stage setting.
And what about that fantastic performance of *The Godfather* in Sicilian? It was truly remarkable, and Ferragamo was the icing on the cake—kudos to Piero for putting on such a wonderful event!
Yes Piero was amazing, i am so impressed and felt his emotion. You could see he took a deep breathe.
Everything Il Volo do is amazing.
I can’t wait till December in Bologna.🙏🎵🎼
Thank us again.
Best wishes xxx❤️
Yes, Eliane, let’s hope she manages to keep her fitness and her voice in top shape!!
Yes, our guys were magnificent! We were there for the August 22 concert.❤️🎶🇮🇹❤️
Wow Kathy, I’m so happy you were in Taormina; it must have been unforgettable!
Thank you. There is always something special from Taormina. The Sicilian “Godfather” from Piero is exquisite. I hope he will sing it in NYC in November. Thank you as always for sharing.
That’s exactly what Karen is like; Taormina is a concert stop that really resonates with our guys, and the fans who go to see them there are left spellbound.
Touche’!! – Daniela!!
More wonderful and highly successful concerts, more great photos and videos from Daniela and Pat!
I had wondered for a long time why Piero hadn’t done The Godfather theme–now he has and it was magnificent. I sure hope he keeps it in his repertoire. And I noticed also that Igna looks a bit slimmer–we’re not ready for the Pavarotti look for him yet! And Gian’s Mi Sono Innamorato di Te is gorgeous and perfect for him.
I read that Brescia got some of that terrible weather recently. I hope that all is ok at your house, Daniela.
😘
Judi, I also hope to hear the *Godfather* theme in a Sicilian version when they come to Brescia, it’s not long now!
Brescia was hit by a severe hailstorm, especially the area where I live, with hailstones the size of tennis balls; it caused a lot of damage, particularly to our photovoltaic panels, unfortunately.
Sorry to hear that, Daniela, but I hope it’s fixable. We had solar panels in our last house, and I know that repairs are not cheap!!
Oh no, Daniela! I did not know that your solar panels were damaged! Hope they get repaired quickly! 😯🤗
Judi and Pat, thanks for your concern; we have as many as 13 solar panels to replace and 70 broken roof tiles, and a section of the house’s external insulation system is damaged too, fortunately, we are insured against such events.
Thank you for the article and videos of Piero singing the theme from Godfather. I wish I could see Gabriele and Ignazio does look great and Congratulations to Gianluca for his speaking skills and dedication to Abbruzo and beautiful singing voice and also when he speaks too. Thank you for sharing and can’t forget the guitarist who played the Godfather theme. I love them and thank you again. Linda from Pittsburgh USA
Judi, I also hope to hear the *Godfather* theme in a Sicilian version when they come to Brescia, and it won’t be long now!
Yes, Linda, Gabriele looked happy sitting on his mom’s lap; plus, our guys seem to be in great shape, and I’ll be seeing them in Brescia soon too!!
I forgot to say when Gabriele was standing on his beautiful mother’s lap and was watching and clapping when his handsome father Ignazio sang. I loved to see him clapping for his father. Linda USA
All the concerts are amazing and I so appreciate all the coverage you provide Daniela and Pat! I don’t think I’ll be attending any more for various reasons….not that I’ve lost any interest or love for our guys. They have so become so world famous and excellent (if that’s even Taormina has always been my desired destination, been there once and fell in love). To see ILVOLO there or in Verona were a dream but life throws us curve balls all the time!…in another lifetime!
All the postings are so wonderful and now again to see that Gianluca has received another award for being so generous with his time and love of the area that produced such an amazing man, his passion for his homeland and it’s beauty is really impressive ! Congratulations to him for another humanitarian award!
So grateful for you both! Love Carol 💖💖💖🎼🎤🎹❤️😘🤗🙏🏻☮️
I’m glad you like the “coverage” Carol! 😘💗
Carol, I understand how you feel; going to a concert in Taormina was a dream of mine too. Even though I live much closer than you and visit Sicily often, unfortunately, we couldn’t make it this year… but never mind, I hope there will be a next time.
I am so incredibly proud to be a fan of Il Volo and to watch them grow with every new release. Pierro, I like your version of The Godfather; it’s just a shame not to be there with you. Your guys’ music has touched my heart in ways words can’t fully express. Sharing your incredible talent with the world, your songs capture trust and connection, two of the most profound human experiences. Rest assured that I will always be here to support your journey. Love you, Il Volo.
Natividad, our guys are always trying to propose new songs or new versions to us, and that always sparks fresh interest in us. We are all very proud of them.
Liebe Daniela, liebe Pat,
Margit, I am so glad you enjoyed it! 😘
Dear Margit, you’ve beautifully described the individual qualities of our guys. The Taormina concerts are truly captivating, and I’m glad we were able to give you a glimpse of them with our writing.
I hope to attend one of these concerts one day, too.
I’ve played the Godfather video until my friends are tired of it; I can’t hear it enough — really gorgeous. I just wish the videos had captured the audience’s reaction.
What a nice gesture for that young guitarist! Il Volo is always so generous to new talent, not forgetting what Barbra Streisand and others did for them.
So wish I could have been there- like so many others. I was in Taormina in 2009 before anyone had heard of Il Volo or the Bam Bar. I thought it one of the most beautiful settings on earth. We were there in April and it was hot; why do the guys always do the Sicily concerts in the brutal heat of summer?
Thanks Daniela and Pat for continuing your updates! So sorry to hear about the damage to your house, Daniela. I know you’ll be busy overseeing that! But I know you will take time to enjoy the Brescia concert!!!
You’re welcome, Sally! 😊 I have wondered about the concerts in the heat. I don’t think I could handle it. But when I first saw them in Chicago it was in mid-March with a little snow still on the streets and cold! 🥶
I’ve been to Taormina too, Sally—both years ago and more recently—but I haven’t had the chance to see Il Volo in concert; I hope to manage that in the future.
I can tell you that all outdoor concerts here in Italy take place during this time of year, and it’s particularly hot right now!
Thanks for asking about my house; we’re still waiting on the repair quotes to get the insurance claim moving. In any case, I’ll be at the concert in two days—it’s going to be wonderful!
