In Case You Missed It…..

Report

Hi Everyone,

The concert last night in Concord seems to have been a rousing success. Lots of noise, lots of applause and wonderful singing from Il Volo. We are waiting for Elaine who happily attended, to give us the highlights.

1) Twitter, Tweets and Keeks from last night after the concert:

PIERO tweets, “Loved the audience in Concord and now on the road, next concert tomorrow in LA at Gibson Amphitheatre”
GIANLUCA tweets, “On the road with the new Il Volo tour bus.”I’m in my little bed and ready to go to sleep, it was a long and beautiful day, Los Angeles is waiting for us”
IGNAZIO tweets ” While i’m singing they take pictures from my phone” along with a picture of Piero and Gianluca taking a selfie with his phone!

2) Please see below a response from The Vancouver Sun to a complaint about the review of Il Volo’s concert in Vancouver.

Hello,  Thanks for your email on Erika’s review of the Il Volo Concert. You might guess that you are not the only fan who has taken us to task for this review. While I personally would not have chosen to start this particular piece … “Opera is in trouble” I must tell you that I stand by our reviewer’s right, first, to express personal disappointment over what she heard, and secondly, to write about it.

Reviewers always seem to be pleasing some and angering others … She should have referred to their music as operatic pop, you are right. But, that said, I assume that your anger stems primarily from the fact that the reviewer did not enjoy the night as much as you yourself did.

She did, however, give credit where it was due and recognized, for example, the fact that some established entertainers hold Il Volo in high regard and the fact that Boschetto sang a “soaring rendition” of Streisand’s Memory.  We welcome our readers’ feedback and I thank you for taking the time to consider our content and call us up on it.

Best regards,
Managing Editor
The Vancouver Sun

Although the Sun did respond regarding some issues, not all were addressed. We will keep you updated if there is any further response.

We wish Il Volo Love and Luck for tonight’s concert in LA.

Linda

  1. Il Volo Mundial has Piero’s solo. Unbelievable. Please everyone listen to it and then go back and re-read that ridiculous review. Mundial also has the guys sing Splendida–beautiful!

  2. Hi.I went to concert last night (my son took me), and he was very impressed with the boys’ singing! I got to meet Elaine, who found me when I wrote where I was sitting. What a delightful visit with her! Also, next to me was a gal from the very same Senior’s Mobile Home Park in Calistoga, and I never knew she was a fan of iL Volo, too. Small world! How do they do it? The boys, I mean – they sang constantly for 2 whole hours with no break. Amazing!

    1. Audrey, it was nice meeting you too. I see that your son helped you to sign on to this blog. How nice of him! Please come and chat with us
more often from now on. We need more West Coast Il Volo lovers here, haha.

  3. Audrey their winners, now there are 2 other people you found that love them. Now you can have a friend in your own compound you can listen to their music with. & probably you will find more friends around you who love them also.

  4. Thank you so much Sheridan for alerting us to Piero’s rendition of whatever song it was It was magnificent his voice was superb, how could that stupid woman say he was having trouble with his mike, he never touched the mike. I never heard him sing that particular tune before it was out of this world.

    1. Loretta, the mic wasn’t on for 1 minute after they took a 5 minute break to adjust the overall concert volume, which wasn’t working effectively. Different time in the show (?).

Hope that clarifies about the mic.

And, yes, Piero was spectacular, as were Ignazio and Gianluca!

  5. I just listened to Piero. Magnificent! Also watched “opening act”. At least what I could see of it. Eyes kept watering. Must be catching a cold or something! Did not stay on video for Un Amori Cosi Grande. It’s my favorite song – I’m waiting until the concert for that one!

    1. Hi Loretta my family will be seing the boys Thurs night too. Were going crazy waiting. Where will you be seating? Were sitting in a suite not sure which one yet. I’m so thankful to them for bringing my gdaughter who is 7 to love their music. Everything they do is fantansic.

  6. Good evening, everyone! I, too, just listened to Splendida and Piero’s solo. SHEER PERFECTION!!! That’s all I have to say.

  7. Thanks for the links -they sound great, don’t they? If anyone sees a recording of Gianluca singing “En Aranjuez con tu amor”, please post the link as I would love to hear it again. He sang it beautifully.

  8. Yes, loretta, it was his first solo in the concert. Piero’s was Non Puede Ser and Ignazio’s was a Caruso song but I didn’t get the name of it? Did anyone else?

    1. TJ, thanks so much for the names of the 2 solos, which I didn’t catch. And Ignazio’s solo is actually called “Caruso.”

I feel your enthusiasm and joy, having shared the concert with you from afar.

  9. Just listened to all of the songs posted thus far by Mundial on FB…FANTASTIC!!! Yes, in the short time they were away from the touring scene their voices have matured even more and are even better than before! A_M_A_Z_I_N_G!!! The beauty of their voices alone and combined is just out of this world. The bar just keeps getting higher and higher, thanks to you, IL VOLO! We love you!

  10. Linda, I am so happy for you and all who will be able to see them on this tour. They are the best! 🙂

  11. Loretta, he sang memories as well. They each did two solos. Thanks Jeanine for the other title. I have more or less got the whole song list now. Yes, we left the concert on a total high, it was wonderful!

  12. Tj I just listened to Pavarotti & a woman singing separately of course the song Caruso & I am going to be blown away with Ignazio’s version. & be walking on a cloud out of the theatre.. Waiting for Gianluca version of was it Night & Day? it has to be spectacular. Those 3 young men are so hanging on to their own special star.

  13. I just listened again to Ignazio’s solo Caruso. Get out the Kleenex. When he hits those incredibly beautiful high notes you want to cry. He got a standing oation-just wonderful!!! Loretta, I want to hear both of Gianluca’s solos? Where are they?

  14. Just watched Caruso. Yikes! What a man! What a song challenge! He certainly met that challenge! If I didn’t love him I would love him. I know what I meant! Thanks for the heads-up on these songs, Ladies!

    1. Marie, I can read the headlines now…”Crazy lady jumps on stage and attacks young Italian tenor. News at 11.”

  15. I see that some of you have already watch clips from last night’s fantastic concert. They are great, right? I am still recovering from the excitement. Yes, our guys are fabulous. They are handsome and sound even better than before. Yeah, I know, it is incredible knowing that they are still in their teens (well, Piero only passes a little).

The concert is beautiful with good mixture of songs, nice stage setting, and good acoustic. They sang well over 20 songs that includes songs from the first, second (include special edition) album, some well known Italian classic, and two solos from each of them. Again they are amazing singing in four languages. For me though, it is the solos that were the highlight of the concert. They each sang two solos and are all stunning. Gianluca once again was on his knees on one of his solo. I just love his expressiveness.

As for the audience’s reaction, well, just check out Gianluca’s tweet earlier today – Thank you SF, you were really loud tonight. One of the biggest cheer was from me and he must have heard it! Oh, my sweet Gian!

Gianluca, Piero, Ignazio, thank you again for giving me a magical and memorable night. You are the best singers with the most distinctive voice in the world. I love you all and I wish you a great success in the future.

  16. Just saw a You Tube of Ignazio singing Caruso. WOW, WOW, WOW! Simply incredible, and he will only get better as the tour goes on. Suggest we all tweet our praise to Ignazio, and ask him to be sure to keep that song in his performance as the tour goes on. It is so wonderful, and I personally cannot wait to hear it live and I remember he only sang Tu che m’hai preso il Cuor in a couple of performances in the East last year and I had wanted to hear that live so badly.

  17. Thanks Elaine for the review. I see you loved the concert and the boys as much as Jeanine and I did!

  18. Now LeeLee are you telling me that you wouldn’t jump & grab, You would have a better chance of getting to him, I have to drag my walker so that gives him time to run. Therefore I have to sneak up gradually to be able to grab him before he runs. Don’t listen to Marie she doesn’t know me like she thinks she does.

  19. Elaine I’m so glad you had a great time. after hearing Ignazio’s & Piero’s solos I can just imagine the magic.I am SO ald Ignazio got a standing ovation, I am sure Piero did also but the clip I saw didn’t show the audience. They both deserved a standing ovation I only wish I could have seen Gianluca’s solo I’ll bet it was expressing. I love the way he express himself while singing. Now go to sleep Elaine & have beautiful dreams.

    1. Loretta, the boys received standing ovation for every solo, that means all 6 songs! And there were many more for other songs. I had lots of exercise myself last night. But it was fun and they truly deserve them. Again, I can’t help it, I have to say it “I love you, guys”!!!

    1. Josie, be patient, it will be coming. I could have taken one but I was too concentrated on him and didn’t want to be distracted. Nothing will get pass YouTube this days.

      1. Elaine, I hope so. I liked you said he had standing ovation too. I only saw the comments about Piero and Ignazio’s solo that were amazing.

    2. Josie, I was there. Trust me, each one of our guys was wonderful and stunning. They each have his own distinctive voice and can stand on his own. Gianluca had two outstanding solo. In my opinion, he was flawless last night. Although I love each and everyone of them, Gian is always the most special in my heart!

    3. The lady who posted both Piero’s and Ignazio’s sole had written that she was uploading Gianluca’s solo but then it never came on. I looked as of 6:30 this am. and sitll no video. She wrote that she was having trouble with her computer. Of all times for it to crash. I’m sure someone else will be putting more out from Calif. today (hopefully). I enjoyed both solos, what voices. Just stellar performances! I want to see as much of them as I can! I hope someone posts El Triste, Night and Day, Surrender and O Sole Mio! Those four songs are all I ask!

  20. I am just like all the rest of you. I have been watching every video, listening to every available song, and every move, smile, and gesture; and I sit shaking my head in disbelief, as tears fill my eyes. They are just so incredible, in every aspect. I agree, they have returned even better than they have ever been, if that’s even possible! Watching them on these different sites, give an up-close advantage that I would not have the ability to enjoy in person, but just realizing your in the same room with them would bring an added emotion in itself. I attended the concert in Phoenix last year, but hadn’t come to really know much about them then; nor did my seat location allow me to see much. This year, a whole different story! Glad I’ve had this avenue to share, before I burst! Thanks! Goodnight!

    1. Kittykam you just described what I’ve been doing the last 3 days. Now I NEED to hear Gianluca’s solo. It’s pathetic how much I need that right now! Sweet Il Volo dreams everybody, and thanks Elaine for sharing. I live in Pittsburgh so I’ve been staying up til 3:00 a.m. every night hoping for eyewitness accounts! 💞💜💙💛💞

  21. I was curious about Gianluca’s silo “En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor” so I looked up the song. It’s from a Spanish opera from the 1930’s and I’ve heard it before at a symphonic concert, without vocals. It’s beautiful and I think you might recognize it. So now we wait. 💞💜💛💙💞

  22. Good Morning all! I have found another source for Concord CA concert videos. Patricia Repetto on u tube has a better version of Piero’s solo, along with Granada, Luna Nacosta, We are Love and one other. Still haven’t found Gianluca’s solos. Everyone must have been too dumbstruck in awe to film them.

  23. Oh, I thought I was bad! You guys are horrible! Of course, here I am looking and waiting too. Pitiful but fun! I can’t seem to get enough Caruso. Loretta, you may have to hold me back when he sings it at the concert! Seriously!
I shall refrain from mentioning how nice his body looks in the video.

Elaine, You must stop now! I already can’t stand the wait and you are certainly not making it any easier! Loved your review though!

  24. Sheridan, just saw several of her videos she did a good job! I just went to “Il Volo Patricia Repetto” on YouTube. Piero’s piece was amazing. He should sing only Italian. To die for! We are Love had some nice close-ups.
I would like to go to sleep tonight and wake up next Tuesday when I leave for Detroit! I’ve been waiting almost a year for this!

  25. I’m trying Mary! We’re not fans. We’re junkies. Worse part is I don’t want to kick the habit! What would my family say if they knew? Oh well. Think I’ll go for another Caruso fix now.

  26. I must join the accolades. I also watched all of the available videos – what wonderful concerts! The boys all look and sound fantastic. The solos are great and I am also waiting (impatiently?) for Gian’s to join the others so we all can enjoy them even if we weren’t there. How wonderful that we have youtube to compensate! Gianluca, Piero, and Ignazio – you all sound out of this world – keep up your strength and stay as happy as you’ve been all week. The standing o’s are well deserved by all of you! We love you!

  27. I think i’ve seen every video available, it is so amazing how they get better and better, when they were already fabulous! Seeing them in person can only be the pinacle for us fans!

  28. If any of them come up the aisle I am goingto put my arms around their waist & they can drag me up on stage with them, I’ll even take second place with the young girls they bring up on stage. Try to make myself look as respectable as I can without my tongue hanging out.

  29. The first thing I do every morning is rush to my computer to see what you folks have to say about the concerts. I have to see and hear the concerts through your eyes and ears. Maybe – please, please, please – our boys will come to Minneapolis next year. In the meantime, Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca, know that I love you. Il Volo is the best thing that happened to me since I reach the status of senior citizen!

    1. Allene, I am going to put in a pitch for Minneapolis when I see the boys on the 4th. (Like I have any clout) Am taking T shirts with the Minnesota Wild logo to help them remember that we exist. Can only hope that I get to them before Loretta wears the boys out.

  30. Sheridan, great detection finding Patricia Repettos videos, but did you notice that the one with a smudgy picture of Gianluca is 12:25 minutes long? The middle song on that one is Gianluca singing Night and Day. WOW! That boy is incredible! The last song is a fabulous rendition of Angel. Bonus!

    1. I’m not home now so I cannot yet watch the video not til like 5 hrs from now, the wait is killing me, but I’ll have to memorize the name Patricia Repetto for when I can FINALLY watch this. She put 12 mins. of Gianluca up? She is my new hero!
