Leelee at Sabado Gigante

    A Fun Evening at

By Leelee
Where: Miami
Date/Time: April 22nd/5:30 p.m. (or so we thought)

Our afternoon started by driving from Palm Beach County to Dade County (figure approximately 1 hour). Considering we were to be there at 5:30 p.m., I thought it would be a good idea to get there early to avoid traffic. We arrived at 4:00 p.m. You can’t hurt us for trying. We were hoping to catch maybe a glimpse of (I can say it now) the “AWARD-WINNING” Il Volo hanging out like they sometimes do before concerts. I should have known – it’s me – no such luck.

We were greeted by the Miami Fan Club. They were there early also, I think in the hopes of the same thing. Not only that, they were expecting 50 fan club members. To digress a little, I want to give a shout out to the Double D’s and the rest of the fan club. Now I know what you all are thinking and get your minds out of the gutters. I MEAN Diana and Diana. These two ladies were the first ones we met and they were just awesome and fun. I’m sorry I can’t remember all the names of the gals we met, but you know who you are. Here’s just a glimpse of some of the fan club

Thank you Miami Fan Club for treating us like one of your own!!!

Anyway, it was about 5:30 when they made the announcement that they were going to start calling our numbers so we can go get our tickets. Mind you, the tickets are free. When you go get your tickets, which go by the number in your party, they were not pre-determined, they give you a ticket for food. YES, FOOD!! You had a choice of hot dog or ham and cheese sandwich, chips, and a drink. Pretty cool!

And then we wait…and then we wait…
One of the ladies from the fan club was told that the “AWARD-WINNING” Il Volo would be there about 7:00 p.m. So around that time, the natives started becoming restless and were checking out to see any sign of a limo, SUV, anything to indicate that they were there. Again, no such luck.

They called us in about 7:30 – 7:40 by your seat number. You enter the studio, which was surprisingly very small. It doesn’t seem that way on tv. They seat you row by row and then the announcer comes out and starts giving all the rules and regulations (all in Spanish, so I had a translator on either side of me, which helped).

When looking at the stage, we were seated to the left of the stage, 2nd row. GREAT SEATS – trust me. Looking straight ahead across the set is a large door which is the way we came in. Looking at the door, I thought to myself how the guy across the studio looked just like Gianluca. HOLY COW! The lightbulb went off. Just as I saw him, a woman yelled: “OH DIOS MIO”. We all yelled out. The rest of the audience looked at us to see what we were seeing, and then the ruckus began!!!! They walked out of sight and I was thinking they were ready to come on through the center entrance. But NOOOO. They came in right where we were sitting. They announced to get ready, and I looked through where the curtain was opening and there was Ignazio. Just then a group of girls got up to take pictures and blocked my view – but I was ready. They announced them coming in and I held up my camera and…

At this point, I need Joan’s help, because in her statement she mentioned that ¾ of the audience were Il Volo fans. I’m not quite sure which ¼ were not Il Volo fans. And if by some off chance there wasn’t anyone there for Il Volo, they left being Il Volo fans, based on the Standing O they received after they sang Mas Que Amor.

Now comes the piece of advice that I wish everyone to take heed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THESE GUYS!! I did. There was so much activity that I was not paying attention until I looked up and found that they were posing for more pictures AND THAT THEY WERE AT OUR END OF THE STAGE!!! I picked up my camera so fast and took the picture and this is what happened…

The worst picture I ever took. But you see who Piero and Ignazio are looking right at, don’t you? Apparently, Gianluca missed the opportuity to pose for me ?. Next time, though…and there will be a next time.

What a great night. Though the picture didn’t come out good, the memory is forever embedded in my mind. Thank you all for reading and sharing in my excitement.

Thanks also goes to Joan and Ivie (cohorts) and Soledad (Solie) from Sabado Gigante.
Now for June!

Leelee,
Sounds like you all had a great time.
That video is such a tease! Loved it!
Now I can’t wait for the show on May 31st.
Thank you for sharing your amazing
adventure with us.

    1. Hi Anne, only one song. It was a good interview. Unfortunately, no interview is ever long enough 🙂

  1. Oh, I wish I could have been there, but it’s a few miles from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Miami. I glad you had a great time

  2. Everytime I have watched this show it reminds me of a three-ring circus a little bit. A lot of fun and watched by a lot of people.

    1. It really is, but in a fun way. I recommend a visit to a taping. Between the show and the audience participation, it’s worth it.

  3. Wow, LeeLee what an exciting story and what an experience! I love your video. Was that you who was shouting at the background? I am so happy for you and just as you said the memory is embedded in your mind forever. And you and we will love them forever.

    1. Yes, Elaine, the loud mouth was me. The woman in front of me was the one yelling for Gianluca. Glad she did – did you see how cute he looked when he looked over our way. I don’t know what she said but it made him smile.

  4. Thanks, LeeLee!! You gave a wonderful recounting of the night – what excitement!! Just makes anticipating June that much harder but oh, it will be sweet!! So happy and proud for our guys! They are wonderful in every way!! Glad you enjoyed the show!

  5. So exciting! Thanks for sharing with us. I can’t wait to see the whole thing. Did they say anything about the new album that you can tell us?

    1. Isabel, I can only go on what was translated to me since I don’t speak Spanish, but as far as I know, they did not talk about the CD. But we all know it’s coming!!!! YAY!

  6. Wow, it looks as though you had a wonderful time at the taping leelee. The boys all look Wonder as usual. Gianluca is my personal favorite and of course, I love Piero and Nazio also. Thank you for having taken this video before they stopped you all. IL VOLO POWER!!!!!

  7. What excitement Piero, Ignazio and Gianlua create when they make an appearance! It is getting harder and harder to wait for June! Thank you, LeeLee for the video.

  8. Thanks, LeeLee. I am also enjoying photos from the three family champagne celebrations and the sign in Naro – “Piero…..orgoglio.” Pride, indeed! I appreciate all photos, videos, comments concerning the Fab Three. In Gialuca’s photo, I could not locate his mother (is she on the back row?)

    1. Marie 1375, I just noticed that nobody answered your question. Yes, Gianluca’s mother is in the photo. She is standing behind Gianluca and I think that is her hand on his shoulder. As usual, she looks beautiful!

  9. Thank you CarolJB, Prese, Jeanine, Allene and 1375Marie for your kind words. EVERYONE on this site makes it easy to share stories and feelings. What a great ‘crew’.

  10. Thank you for this teaser. I have the show marked on my calendar. didn’t realized that it was an interview mostly with only one song…is it all in Spanish? Hope they have English subtitles if it is!

  11. Leelee – wonderful experience, great story! Don’t worry – if our seats are where I think they are and we can use cameras at Wolf Trap – I think you will have plenty of chances to get pictures! Yeah!

  12. I loved hearing your experience and even though your picture was blurred, I could see them in my mind as clear as day!! I have to tell all of you I was watching a program last night (4-27-14) on channel 7. (I live in Los Angeles) and in the commercial at 10:15 p.m., I was flipping channels and I went to channel 8, etc. I was in bed at that time, but when I flipped on channel 8 and then went to channel 9, I thought to myself, there are guys I recognized. I went back to channel 8, which is telemundo for me, and IT WAS OUR GUYS!!!!!! They were being interviewed and the program was called Sulta La Sopa Extra. I jumped out of the bed and they were giving advice to 3 young singers who had been on a show like American Idol to become the next best singers. My Spanish is very rusty, but Ignazio was making many jokes, as was Piero. Gianluca was dressed in a canary colored jacket with blue jeans (so HANDSOME!) but I started getting “hot flashes”. They were so excited for these young kids that want a singing career. Then they sang El Triste for about 20 seconds each and I was so excited. I have never seen them in concert and I can’t see them this summer, but next year, God Willing, I will get tickets. They were absolutely adorable and they talked about their upcoming concert in July at the Taormina Greek theater, and Piero said that all their families and friends will be there, as well as everyone else. I live vicariously through your comments when you see them and leave your comments. I love them so much, as we all do. Sorry this comment is so long. But I was so surprised to see them last night. I, also, will watch them on 5-31-14!!! Thanks, LeeLee

    1. nazio1, I saw that interview via a link that was shared with me and I don’t speak Spanish, but I wondered why those kids were on there. I watched the whole interview, as I watch them all in any language and I only understand English, but I’m so glad to know now why those kids were there. Thanks for sharing your info for people like me who need that translation, regardless of how rusty. 🙂

  13. Ok, so this does not have to do with this article, but it has to do with the M&G and thought more would see if i posted here.

TO ALL WHO HAVE PURCHASED M&G THROUGH IL VOLO:

Last night, my dad just happened to show me an email from Il Volo asking that I respond with the size of shirt that I wanted (included with the M&G). And it asked that we respond by yesterday. I hope you all have replied to it by now, but if any of you have received the email and not replied, i suggest you see if you might e-mail back or call the number included in the email to see if you can still get the size shirt you want.
If you have not received an email yet, don’t worry. Your concert is probably after mine, and they will send it later. But keep watching for it.

    1. CARLI, YOU’RE SO LUCKY!!!!!!! You’ll probably be able to ask The Guys to autograph it for you! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I wish they sold new T-shirts on their website because I would buy at least one if they did. Where is you seat for the concert?

      1. Oh Isabel! Thanks for suggesting asking them to autograph! I did not think of that! I hope i will be ably to do that and that the shirt won’t be dark so i could see their autograph!
My seat is AA 7- FRONT ROW!!!!! And it is more to the side Piero is on a lot! I couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw that seat was available through the M&G! I’m not sure if i can take pictures, but if i can, I will!!

    2. Just an FYI… I am doing a Meet & Greet in Philly, which is their last concert, and I received the T-Shirt email last Thursday, so I’m not so sure they are sending the emails by concert date. The email is from info@concertmaps.com, just in case anyone overlooked it. The phone number they included is (646)485-1314. Hope this helps.

      1. Thank you! I was not sure as on twitter last night, there was someone who had not received the email and her concert was after mine. As of today, they called her to ask about the t-shirt. So if any of you did not get the email, watch for a phone call from them.

  14. Thanks for the heads-up Carli. BTW I saw your picture when you “liked” one of my writings. You are certainly beautiful! Amazing eyes! Just perfect for one of Our guys. Hope you get one! Future babysitter here for you.

    1. Your welcome! I just mentioned it on twitter last night and several had forgotten, so i though I’d just mention it on here too. Thank you so much for your sweet compliment! And yes, I’ll need some help with all of those children Piero wants! 😉

  15. LeeLee–Great summary of our exciting day !!! Gianluca Ignazio and Piero looked so gorgeous and were adorable as usual .They were only on for a short time but it was worth every second, of our long wait outside, just to be able to look at their beautiful faces and and hear them sing once again. Seeing this crazy show being taped was also a very interesting experience and lots of fun !!

  16. Leelee, you are so lucky to have been at the taping of the show, and thanks for sharing your experience with us. We can never get enough of “our guys” so every bit helps. Will be watching the show when it airs. Love IL VOLO and this site!

  17. LeeLee,
Thanks for telling us about your experience at the show. Lucky you for getting a head start on the concert series starting in June. I am glad that you were close enough to get to see it.
