FRIENDS: THANKS TO IL VOLO

One of the things that have always amazed me, being a volover, is the wonderful friendship that is formed between us fans of IL VOLO from all over the world, because as I have always said “IL VOLO, builds bridges of friendship”.

My meetings started before the concert, in fact, on September 20th in the morning. I went to the Brescia train station to meet Jeannette Giglio and Deborah Georgini Beaupre.

They stopped in Brescia until the following day.

Friends 01

We had the whole day available, and so I took them to see my city, Brescia.

Friends 02

Friends 03

Friends 04

They walked a lot, so I took them to their hotel to rest and in the evening we met for a dinner together.

The next day, being a beautiful day, I decided to take them to visit Lake Iseo, which is very close to Brescia.

Friends 05

Friends 06

Here, too, they walked a lot, but they are two fantastic women, full of energy, it was really nice and fun to be with them.

Then I took them back to the station, where they would take the train to Bologna, we would see each other at the concert !!

And here we are at the day of the concert. Everyone lined up for the soundcheck, and here’s who I met:

Wang Xinjie, remember, the sweet Chinese lady who followed them to Capri when they recorded “A CHI MI DICE”, sweet Xinjie.

Friends 07

Then I immediately saw Alicja from Poland, impossible not to notice her, she is a tornado !!

Friends 08

Then Ann Marie Prior called me, with whom I exchanged some news while I was in the queue.

Friends 09

I have been very pleased to see Susan Tafanelli and her brother Robert. We did not take a picture together so I published below the one of two years ago at the Arena, when we met.

Friends 10

Then I met, with great pleasure from the beautiful Greece, two beautiful ladies: Fofi Saratsioti and Katerina Tsaousi, and from the U.S., Joanie Greenspan and Wendy Campbell, too bad I didn’t take the picture with them all.

Then I met the dear, dear friend with whom I shared many translations: RoseMarie Paliobeis.

Friends 11

And then I also met Janet Dong and her husband, very enthusiastic about Italy.

Friends 12

And here, gathered, the trio : Jeannette, Deborah and I … what a night guys, an incredible concert!

Friends 13

At the souncheck I was supposed to meet Jana and her friend Lorna, but they only came for the concert and there was too much confusion there so we didn’t see each other, but we already had an appointment for the next day in Desenzano, on Lake Garda.

Friends 14

And indeed here we are the next day, RoseMarie, Jana and me.

It was nice to meet, we had lunch together and walked along the lake. The difference in language has been overcome and we have understood each other for better or worse, and it was beautiful.

Friends 15

Naturally I also met many Italian friends, whom I knew only thanks to the comments we exchange almost every day.

I never thought I could make these beautiful friendships from one end of the world to the other, and all this was possible thanks to the love that unites us in our admiration for Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio.

Thanks IL VOLO !!! ❤️❤️❤️

Daniela

  1. Beautiful! Make new friends, but keep the old…one is silver and the other gold! So happy you were able to connect with so many!

  2. Il Volo has changed my life in so many ways. To meet so many people from so many different places in the world was something I never would have expected just 6 years ago. To travel to so many different places to see concerts in the states and finally in Italy is something I would not have done. I have listened to other artists that I had never heard of before, Pino Daniele, Eros Ramazzotti, Maluma, etc all because the boys listen to them, has been an enjoyable experience. To meet my dear friends Daniela, Fofi, and Katerina in person, wow, how great was that. So thank you to the young gentlemen of Il Volo. May God bless you and may you find the loves of your lives that you deserve.

    1. RoseMarie, how nice when I was in the queue for the soundcheck and I turned around and saw you.
After the hug and the whirlwind for the soundcheck and the concert, we had little time, but we knew we would meet the next day in Desenzano.
And it was nice, talking to you, it seemed to me, to know you forever. 🙂

      1. I feel the same Daniela. To all of our Il Volo sisters and brothers, it’s a great feeling to be part of this Il Volo family.

  3. What an exciting experience for all. To be able to connect with friends from all over who previously were only known from the Internet must have been a thrill for all.

    1. I was so anxious to get to the sound check to meet you all…got to talk to Janet and Daniella mostly. Meeting the fans AND the concert in one evening..Life is Good!

      1. Ann Marie, it was really nice to meet. When you called me and we talked, I felt like I always talked to you.
Too bad that after the concert, we never met again !! 🙂

    2. Susan, it’s a fantastic experience, and you’ll have this good connection during the U.S. concerts. , in particular if you will participate in the Fan Faire. 🙂

    1. Daniela, what a good looking group of friends you met in Verona. Il Volo sure keeps a smile on our faces.
I am very happy that you all had a good time, and I enjoyed the videos of the concert. I still am playing Ignacio’s solo that brought the thunderous applause and standing ovation. I hope he sings it in Vegas🙂

      1. Jill, I had no doubt to see a good concert, but this time the concert was SUPERB, and the friendships, what to say ….. fantastic !! Ignazio live is 1000 times better, unbelievable !! 🙂

    2. What a wonderful experience— our boys AND friends from all over world. So great! If anyone is planning to come to the San Diego concert on March 3rd I would love to plan get together. A nice walk on the bay, and an early dinner in Little Italy before the concert. Please join us!!

      1. Very well Barbara, the concert is a great stage to listen to good music and find those friends so dear, of whom you often read and who you don’t know! 🙂

  4. What a great sharing, Daniella! I love to read everything you share about the boys…I am trying so hard to get to a concert in my lifetime!!! I am determined to see them one day! I am in the U.S. I will keep trying, and I do hope the boys will come to America again, after their awesome 2020 tour! Thank you, again! I adore Gianluca so very much…beautiful voice, beautiful Italian man inside and out!!

    1. Eleanor, you will realize how beautiful it can be to attend a concert of theirs, and what about Gianluca, if he could, he would have embraced everyone, that evening, sweet! 🙂

  5. Thank you Daniela! I love reading your reports. I’m one of the newcomers to the Il Volo admirers’ club, but feel I already know so many of you. I have met Jane in person and I felt we had known each other for years. I’ve talked on the phone with Joyce and Audrey and it was like talking to old friends. I’m looking forward to the Chicago concert and M&G, as well as the Las Vegas concert. I’m looking forward to the
Fan Faire – how does one sign up for that?

    1. Welcome to the “IL VOLO lovers club”, I have already heard from you, from sweet Jane, that she was so happy to meet you.
It is true, I too, at the concert, when I met people living on the other side of the earth, seemed to have always seen them.
For the Fan Faire, Jane will surely update you on everything. 🙂

  6. Hi Daniela. So nice to finally meet you in person. You are just as nice and helpful as you are on this blog. Great also meeting so many other super fans of Il Volo. I wish we would have had more time to spend visiting, but the sound check and the concert kept us all busy and the crowd in the Arena was huge and hard to find anyone after. Hope to see you all again at a concert in the US next year. Daniela and Beppe , we would love to have you visit us here in the US and let us return the favor. Looking forward to your next blog entry! Thank you for tying us all together

    1. Janet, it was very nice for me to meet you and your husband too.
It will be difficult for me and my husband to come to U.S., we fear the plane, it will be easier for us to meet again here at a next concert, “never say never”.
      A hug to both 🙂

  7. I loved reading about everyone meeting up for the concert. What s pleasure to meet someone you had only corresponded with. I have done that here in the USA but my dream is to go to the Italy. What a joy that would be!

  8. HAHAHAAA Daniela – it was great to meet you in person 😉 TORNADO??? well… I destroy many things so maybe it is good nick name for me. it was FANTASTIC evening, do you know that I’m RAI1 star? I think reporter was a bit scared that we say few nasty words about that long waiting before sound check but anyway they showed me life in TV – my Polish colegues got creazy and I’m now no 1 fan in Polish fanclub 😉
    kisses from very windy Poland
    Alicja

    1. Alicja, I was standing very close to you. I had a Greek flag with me. I didn’t know it was you. I sat 2 rows behind you at a great concert,

      1. RoseMarie, if you were behind Alicja, who knows how many times you had your view closed by her banner, she can’t stay still 🙂 🙂

      2. hello Rose Marie, pity we did not chat with each other, but I was so excited 😉

    2. Alicja, it was impossible not to see you and not hear you, yes a tornado in a good way !!!
I too have been pleased to meet you. The concert was wonderful and I think you had a great birthday !!!
      Ti ho visto in RAI1 🙂 🙂 🙂

      1. my “banner” was not big enough to close the view, it is only scarf frankly speaking, I think more I was covering the view by standing after each song 😉 Hope I did not spoil the view too much, but when I’m excided so much it is hard to stop me.
        kisses Alicja
btw I published a lot of pics from Verona in my FB profile, If you would like to see you are very welcome

      2. Your facebook pictures are so clear..you must have a great camera..loved everyone!!! I also wanted to stand after every song..wish I sat close to you to stand with you..thanks for the great pictures!!!

      1. Thanks 😍 happy you like it. I always buy phones with good camera. I travel a lot and like to take pictures. If you have to carry laptop, phones, documents etc in hand lagguage all the time, additional camera is not welcome 😂 so phone with good camera works perfectly during trips and concerts 🤔

  10. Alicja, will you come to USA? You did not block my view at all. I was not directly behind you and stood after every song.

    1. I would love to come, I checked some dates end of February and March, maybe San Diego or other California or Florida places. It is long trip from Poland so would like to stay at least 1or2 weeks to enjoy sightseeing too. I don’t want to go alone, so need to start “negotiations” with my brother to convince him and change vacation plans… lots of open points and issues to solve 😉

      1. I will be in Las Vegas for the March 15th concert! I would love to be able to meet you, Alicja!

  11. It was wonderful to meet you, Daniela even though it took me a while to find you! Lack of good sight and hearing but that’s what can happen with age! 😘
