In 2016, Dario Gerardi wrote some beautiful poems dedicated to Il Volo, I liked them very much and so I contacted Dario and asked him if I could translate them for American friends.

He was very happy with this.

I have already published this poem, but it was a long time ago and it was one of the first posts I did. Coincidentally I found this poem in these days and I thought to propose it again, surely many of you do not know it and I am convinced that even those who already know it will like to read it again.

Dario Gerardi is a young Sicilian blind person. Read his beautiful words dedicated to Il Volo.

The lights come on … From darkness to brightness in the blink of an eye, to feeling microscopic in large concert halls, the heart beats faster and stronger …

Three silhouettes appear out of nowhere, filling the eyes of those who have an extraordinary desire to see the wonder.

Applause begins … The screams of those who have always dreamed of them …

The moment seems to have come, and now everything is going as it should go.

Exceptional orchestra behind them, sensational musicians as added value, to all that fantastic with their voices, they imprint in the hearts of women and men who have always loved them.

Italian pride, made in Italy … Every stage in this world is recognizing the great value of those who are spreading great love in the air.

Immediately the first song, in listening to them, there are those who have not yet stopped reopening their eyes, reopening them, all this is not a dream but it is simple and pure reality, fantastic!

One song leads to another, just like delicious and tasty cherries, the voices thunder in the air …

The dream doesn’t seem to end.

Irony and sympathy, very important elements of those who, not only with their own voice, know how to enchant …

But above all, their knows how to make people smile who in this hard life does not do it constantly.

Almost as if it seemed a marvelous mix of music and sympathy, between one song and another, the hearts take on a rhythmic beat just like percussion with sweet beats.

The smile imprinted on the faces of the listeners as a symbol of happiness, as if it should never disappear… Them … Healthy bearers of happiness.

The last song marks the end of everything that so far seemed an endless dream, but …

The encore is upon us. Who will ever stop following them …

Eternally this concert will be imprinted in their minds, in their hearts.

Everyone in their homes will always be able to dream of them just as they did it live.

Three hearts for a world!

Honor to them.

Dario Gerardi

I don’t know what effect these words had on you, but they seemed really beautiful and appropriate to me, they express the emotion and joy of the first concert, when slowly, without realizing it, you are hopelessly in love with Il Volo.

  1. Thank you for sharing and translating, Daniela. I have not seen this before. I loved your additional comments at the end.

  2. How melodic and beautiful are Dario’s rich words about our IL Volo boys through Maura’s visual description. Every word rings true to our heartfelt feelings for these three young men. It was a special treasure to read this, since I’ve never read it before. Thank you so very much, dear Daniela, for another translation! ♥♥♥

    1. Harriett, I am very happy to have it published again, so many people like you have been able to read these beautiful words, and Dario, who reads all your comments, is very happy.

    1. het was een grote eer om il volo te volgen al van dat ze nog nniet bekend waren via rai 1 wens ze nog veel succes

  3. Thanks so much for translating and sharing, Daniela. This poem describes the feeling perfectly. I have followed our boys for years. I have watched them grow into such wonderful young men. Their voices have matured so beautifully. They have kept their values taught to them by their parents. They are kind, humble, and generous young men. I saw them in concert February 2020 in Dallas. It was a dream come true. I hope that I have the opportunity to see and hear them again. The night was magical!❤️

    1. I confirm everything you have written, Judy, and I would say that the words of this poem are perfect for them and for us.
      Sometimes dreams come true.

  4. His words perfectly describe being at an Il Volo concert. I sometimes wonder if the guys fully realize how deeply they affect people with their voices. And , yes, before you know what has happened you have hopelessly fallen in love With Il Volo. I hope you and your family are well Daniela as the world try’s some form of normalcy. Ciao!

    1. Janet, I wonder this too, I don’t think they are aware of the effect they have on the audience.

My family is doing well, things are improving here, thanks.

  5. Thank you ladies. I consider myself blessed to have seen the boys live in concert 10 times. The anticipation of waiting for them come out on stage is almost unbearable. When I see the 3 silhouettes I feel as if I have gone to heaven. These are beautiful words by Dario, Their voices are truly like “thunder in the air”

  6. Thank you for finding more and more interesting things to post to keep the boys alive in our minds. I believe everyone that attends IL VOLO concerts come out with feelings that linger till the next song, CD or concert. I can relate to the poem.

    1. Thanks Regina, what a nice compliment, I had already published this poem, but every time I read it, I appreciate every word, Dario hit the mark.

  7. First and foremost, I thank you Daniela for sharing these beautiful written words for us to read and love. I fell in love with “my guys” the first time I read about them on FB. The author has it exactly right, you don’t know what hit you when you hear them sing… my goodness gracious the IL Mondo done it for me. I don’t understand a word of Italian but it doesn’t matter because their smiles, their magic, the melody touches your heart and you are theirs forever or they are ours forever. With this pandemic and all the scares, we have to be patient and that is hard. I want the world to hear them sing. They are handsome, good looking, sweet and mannerly and treat their fans wonderfully. Your site was the first one I found; and I would comment and then later go back and it was signed by Piero..which I was on cloud 9. They are a gift from God to lighten the peoples load when it gets heavy. I love them as I love my family. They are sensational and I’m a forever and ever fan. Love my guys!

    1. Sassylady, Dario is a blind person, but he has perfectly read our hearts, our emotions, he has understood the strength of these three boys.
There are two more of his poems dedicated to Il Volo, I will publish them soon.

  8. WoW beautiful poem a got goosbums ween a read it thank you for sharing Daniela

  9. Imagine that. Dario is blind and yet he captured the scene exactly. This is just how I feel. 1st your hear the beginning musical rhythm and you know they are coming. Then 1 appears, then another and then another and it all begins. So overwhelming, those 3 dynamic voices, singing as one. Electrifying. Song after song..Sometimes I wonder too if they realize the effect they have on people.

    1. Kay, Dario has interpreted very well the emotions of a concert, in particular of a first concert. I don’t think guys are aware of what they can trigger in us.

  10. On March 9 I took a good friend with me to the concert in San Jose. She was vaguely aware of their music and had never seen them in person. As the concert got underway during the first few songs I heard her commenting to her self “those voices! those voices!” She was completely taken in.

  11. What a beautiful dedication to the three of them. He described every step with such perfection. I know when I saw them in Ft. Lauderdale this year I was so swept up with emotion at finally seeing them live. Certainly hope that I will get the opportunity to see them again. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful poem. Always enjoy your articles, have learned so much about them through you. Thank you

  12. Again, a beautiful share regarding Il Volo. Thank you for translating the poem for us.

  13. Hi everyone.
This morning I shared this post on Dario’s page. He thanked me and I told him if he read all your nice comments and he replied “amazing”, he thanks you very much.
During the same period of this poem, Dario wrote two more for Il Volo and I, seeing how much you enjoyed this one, will also publish the others.
I am very happy that these beautiful words have been so appreciated !!!

  14. Lovely poem, which captures so eloquently the experience of an Il Volo concert–especially considering the writer was unable to see them (and, let’s face it, they are pretty darned good-looking and constantly in motion!) and to see the excellent lighting and staging effects. Thank you, as always, Daniela. I am trying to catch up on all your old posts…a very worthwhile endeavor!

    1. Judi, I’m really happy that you like my posts and I also hope that they clarify some doubts or answer some of your questions. As for the scenic beauty of the boys, I think it is the only one that Dario, unfortunately, cannot perceive, everything else, has been made by him very well !!

  15. Thank you again Daniela. Yes, I have been hopelessly in love with Il Volo, since 2012 (79 yr old,Grandma).
