UNO PER TUTTI: FIRST CONCERT by Daniela

tourOn October 14th, the first “UNO PER TUTTI” concert, recorded in Mantua on September 26th, was broadcast on Canale 5.
I only attended the final concert on September 29th. Since then, many videos from both concerts have been circulating online; I chose not to watch them so as not to spoil the surprise, so for me, too, it’s as if I’m seeing them for the first time.
I’ve included two links to the full concert below. The first was recorded by my friend Carmen from “Il Volo En Clase”; it isn’t accessible from within Italy, but it can be viewed from abroad.
The second is a link from Canale 5; generally, it cannot be accessed outside of Italy, though it may be available in some other countries, depending on the viewing method.
This is the best I can do, I truly hope you’ll all be able to watch the concert. 🥰
Let’s share our thoughts once you’ve had a chance to see it!

What can I say, a truly wonderful concert, with stunning stage design and top-tier vocals for songs that are pure poetry. There were welcome Italian guests, and the whole event was marked by beauty, elegance, and great talent, in short, a well-conceived and well-organized production.
It all begins with a performance of the “Toreador” aria from Bizet’s *Carmen*, and I really loved seeing our guys backstage shaking hands, a ritual they perform before every concert.
Piero immediately explains that he has decided to also serve as the host for the first evening. Ignazio expresses some reservations.
The guys’ set begins with “IL MONDO”, a timeless song you could listen to thousands of times over.
In the audience is Amadeus, a well-known and talented Italian presenter, who is invited onto the stage to teach Piero the secrets of hosting a television show. Throughout the evening, there are several amusing bits centered on the art of hosting, and I must say, Piero did a great job keeping up with Amadeus! 😉😁
The first guest of the evening is Elisa, a highly talented Italian singer-songwriter with a beautiful voice. This is followed by a series of duets with our guys, featuring wonderful songs written by Elisa.
Next, there is a series of wonderful duets by our guys, featuring some truly magnificent songs.
VENT’ANNI, released in 1970 and made a hit by Massimo Ranieri!! THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, from 1971, made a hit by Elvis Presley. STELLA DI MARE, from 1979, made a hit by Lucio Dalla.
Next up is the inevitable, and always welcome, “O SOLE MIO.”
The evening’s second guest is arriving: Mahmood, an Italian singer who unexpectedly took first place at the 2019 Sanremo Music Festival, the same year Il Volo presented “MUSICA CHE RESTA ,” a song that faced significant boycotting.
Together, they sing the beautiful “CARUSO,” followed by a duet between Mahmood and Ignazio on “RAPIDE”, a song written by Mahmood, where, thanks to the parts sung by Ignazio, I can finally make out the lyrics!
Another welcome guest is the talented Fiorella Mannoia; she has sung with Il Volo on several occasions. Though she is 72 years old, she remains a truly gifted performer.
Together with Gianluca, she sings the beautiful “AMORE CHE VIENI AMORE CHE VAI” by Fabrizio De André.
And this time, we continue with the timeless “MY WAY” sung by Il Volo.
Another guest, whom you may have already seen in other concerts with our guys, is Riccardo Cocciante.
Together with Piero, he sings the beautiful “A MANO A MANO” by Rino Gaetano.
This is followed by a lovely song written by Cocciante himself, “MARGHERITA,” performed with great passion alongside Gianluca.
A fun little skit, with Amadeus having our guys perform short, varied snippets of songs over a beat provided by the audience!!
The evening continues with Il Volo singing their big hit, “GRANDE AMORE.”
Next, a choir of young children takes the stage, they’re from the town of Chiari, in the province of Brescia, not far from where I live! Together with Piero, they perform the lovely “BUONGIORNO A TE ,” famously sung by Pavarotti, a song that always brings so much joy!
Next came a touching moment in the evening: the beautiful “HALLELUJAH,” sung with great passion by our guys.
I recall that the funeral of his grandfather, Ernesto, took place on the morning of September 26th, and that same evening, the first concert in Mantua was held; Gianluca, showing true professionalism, made sure to be there. 🙏❤️
Following the song, there was a long, standing ovation, and it was truly moving to see our three guys take a moment for quiet reflection.
Gianluca’s words:
“Guys, just a quick thing, may I dedicate this song to my grandfather, Ernesto? I’d like to take this moment so that this applause might reach him.”
This was followed by an affectionate embrace with Piero and Ignazio.
As you can see in the video, a small note, handed over by Piero, was passed to Gianluca. I was told that the message on that note was actually read aloud during the evening, though, unfortunately, that part was cut from the footage.
Another guest is arriving: Italian singer-songwriter Alex Britti. In his first performance, he plays the guitar and joins Piero for a beautiful duet of “BRUCIA LA TERRA”, sung in Sicilian, the lovely song featured in the film *The Godfather*.
This is followed by an Alex Britti song, “OGGI SONO IO,” also performed as a duet with Piero.
There’s a solo; Ignazio sings the beautiful song by Celentano and Mina, “L’EMOZIONE NON HA VOCE.”
At one point, the lyrics to this song say:
“You will sleep peacefully in my arms, it’s important for us to truly be ourselves, and you will give me another life, one I don’t yet know; you will be my partner for as long as you wish.”
Amadeus jokes that the guys are relaxed backstage, and the most relaxed of all is Ignazio, who is busy eating bread, calm.
He then recounts that when he was the director and host of Sanremo in 2024, Il Volo played three songs for him, and without hesitation, he chose the beautiful “CAPOLAVORO.”
Next is a tribute to Gino Paoli, a brilliant Italian singer-songwriter who recently passed away and was truly a poet of music, Gianluca  featuring a passionate rendition of the mix of his  songs “UNA LUNGA STORIA D’AMORE – CHE COSA C’E’ – IL CIELO IN UNA STANZA  “ .
Let’s return briefly to opera: now Il Volo performs the powerful aria “DI QUELLA PIRA” from Giuseppe Verdi’s *Il Trovatore*.
Amadeus’s introduction—delivered in a rap style—was a nice touch as he presented the piece by “Joseph Green” [Giuseppe Verdi]. 😁😁😁
Next up is a lovely presentation of a song by Pino Daniele, “ALLERIA,” performed by Ignazio together with the talented Roberto Colella.
A solo by Gianluca, the beautiful “IO CHE AMO SOLO TE” by Sergio Endrigo.
Il Volo reunites to perform the stunning “NELLE TUE MANI,” taken from *Gladiator*.
We’re nearing the end, but there’s still time for a beautiful Neapolitan song: TORNA A SURRIENTO.
After the song, Amadeus says goodbye and expresses his thanks, offering high praise and hugs.
The final song, taken from their latest CD, the beautiful AD ASTRA.
The concert was watched by a great many people, and I’ve read countless enthusiastic comments; the only drawback was that the broadcast didn’t begin until nearly 10:00 PM.
I really appreciated the selection of songs, true poems that have, unfortunately, been all but forgotten amidst today’s trends, and I believe that this revival, performed by the voices of Ignazio, Gianluca, and Piero, is a real tonic for the Italian music scene of today.
Everything was beautifully put together and polished, the set design, the orchestra, the choir, and the three of them were magnificent.
In the early afternoon of October 14th, our guys were interviewed by the Canale 5 news program.
Here is the video.
W = Joining us are Il Volo, who were just discussing some football news.
Gianluca = As a Roma fan, let’s see what happens tonight.
W = Il Volo. Il Volo returns to Canale 5 tonight with *Uno per tutti*—three new event specials filmed at Palazzo Te in Mantua. But there’s something new—a great new development: you’ll also be serving as hosts. I believe Piero is the one starting things off?
PIERO = Yes, we’ve changed the format a bit this year; it’s three evenings on Canale 5, and each of us will take a turn as the host.
IGNAZIO = This is the first step toward eventually anchoring the TG5 news broadcast.
PIERO = Exactly, anchoring the news! (laughs)
W = And you’ll be joined by…
PIERO = Tonight, I’ll be joined by Amadeus; I have to say, it went really well.
W = Perfect. And each of you will host one of the upcoming evenings. You also have plenty of guests, right?
GIANLUCA = Yes, there will be many guests, Elisa, Riccardo Cocciante, Mahmood, Alex Britti, Fiorella Mannoia, and so many other friends coming to visit us. Plus, we’ll be performing songs from our repertoire, though it’s a fresh selection, as we’re adding new tracks. It’s an entirely new program, and it’s wonderful to bring a bit of lightness through music, especially these days when it’s so needed.
W= And it won’t just be individual performances, if I understand correctly, is that right?
IGNAZIO = Naturally, we’ll be performing our classics, songs that simply have to be included, like “Grande Amore,” “Il Mondo,” and “Capolavoro.”
We’ll have duets among ourselves, as well as songs that we’ll sing solo. The program was designed to fully express our three distinct personalities and to offer a broader, more dynamic show.
W = There will also be an intersection of different musical worlds, is that an important aspect for you as well?
PIERO = That’s, in a sense, our challenge, and it’s also the power of music: bringing together two worlds that might seem difficult to combine, like for instance, imagining a rock artist performing a duet with us. But that is the power of music, and it’s exactly what we strive to do on stage.
W = Quite an interesting challenge.
PIERO = We’d also like to thank all the guests who came to this event.
W = And what are you preparing for Christmas?
GIANLUCA = A new album featuring Christmas songs is coming out, including our own version of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”, and, of course, all the great Christmas classics will be there too. We’re also working on a concert tour that will visit arenas across Italy, Rome, Turin, Bologna, Milan, and Florence, so we can’t wait to meet all our fans and the audience.
PIERO = You’re officially invited.
GIANLUCA = Naturally.
W = Thanks, everyone? The whole *TG5* team?
PIERO = Of course.
W = Perfect, I’ll pass on the good news to everyone. When does the tour begin?
GIANLUCA = It starts on…
PIERO = December 7th…
GIANLUCA = December 7th at the Forum in Assago (Milan). Other dates will follow, but before that, in November, we’ll be heading back to the United States for a couple of weeks for our tour there.
W = Sounds great. Thanks for being our guests, and best of luck with these three evenings.
GIANLUCA = Bye, everyone!
PIERO = See you tonight on Canale 5.
IGNAZIO = (waves)
This, on the other hand, is the post from CheDonna.it, which I am translating for you.

❤️ IL VOLO ENCHANTS CANALE 5: THREE EXTRAORDINARY VOICES THAT MAKE ITALY PROUD!

Elegance, talent, passion, and three voices capable of moving the audience from the very first notes. Il Volo returns to the spotlight on Canale 5 with *Uno per tutti*, treating viewers to moments of magnificent music and proving once again why they are one of Italy’s most highly regarded groups.
Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble are a prime example of how talent, dedication, and sacrifice can lead to an extraordinary career. Three distinct personalities, three recognizable vocal timbres, and an artistic rapport that has, over the years, become their greatest strength.
What is striking about the trio is not only their ability to perform demanding musical pieces, but also their deep respect for the Italian musical tradition, a tradition they have helped to promote and share far beyond Italy’s borders.
And finally, these videos featuring comments from various guests, recorded on the evening of the concert, includes a translation provided by the Il Volo American Fan Group. We Are Love.

  1. Here in the US we are able to view the entire concert on Utube. I watched it last evening. It was great. Can’t wait for the next one!!!

    1. Yes, Irene, it was great, and I’m looking forward to the next concert too; in the meantime, I’m not watching any videos, I want it to be a surprise.

  2. Thank you for this amazing review.l will be watching the whole thing on YouTube. It looks amazing and so well done, going by all the photos etc. The ragazzi are so versatile.

Hopefully the final two will be on YouTube on later date.

I can’t wait to see them I’m Bologna.

Hope you have a great weekend.

    Lots of love Fenella ❤️👏

    1. Fenella, I’m glad you’re able to watch the whole concert; I’m sure the same YouTube and Mediaset versions will be available for the other two as well.
What can I say—our guys are truly chameleonic!!

      1. They are absolutely amazing.

I just noticed on a post that they had sang with our British group Blue, 4 lovely guys who have reconnected.

        Very popular in the UK.

They sang Che mi dici, plus Sorry seems the hardest word.

As I haven’t seen all the YouTube first one, I’m looking forward to see the 7 of them sing together.

I was surprised as I wonder how Il Volo knew Blue.

        Anyway whatever it’s great.

        Thank you again. ❤️

      2. Yes, Fenella, Il Volo sang “A chi mi dice” by the group Blue; they were guests on the final night of the concerts.
I’m not entirely sure how Il Volo and Blue first met, but I do know that our guys have many friends among other singers. I remember that once, a famous Black American rapper visited Italy and was briefly interviewed on the national news. When asked, “Do you know any Italian artists?” he replied that the guys from Il Volo are his friends, and that whenever Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca are in America, they go out to dinner together. This caused quite a stir, because out of all the singers he could have mentioned, he singled out Il Volo, who are certainly not rappers!

      3. That’s interesting. I know that Blue are or were on tour around Italy, i saw on social media they were in Milan.

Plus Blue sing Chi mi dici, it’s on an album.

So maybe Il Volo knew of them. Blue reunited recently and very popular in the Uk. They are good and it was surprising and pleasing they sang with my favorite Il Volo. It was lovely that they seemed to get on,

I look forward to see that show.

I don’t understand all the Italian but I get the idea especially when they are funny.

And they did sing with Elton John (Sorry it’s the hardest word. ). I’m Sure Il Volo try to keep up with groups etc from around the world.

        Thank you for your reply.

I love your posts and always look forward to see and read.

        Lots of love

        Fenella ❤️

Hanne, I’m glad that the video of Il Volo En Clase can be seen in Germany too; I have my dear friend Carmen to thank for this—she was in Mantua on the same evening as me, and we were finally able to meet up.

  4. I’m watching the YouTube video of the first concert and I just had to stop to write. When Elisa sang with Ignazio it was amazing! They just knocked me out. Now I’ll get back to the rest of the concert.😄

    1. I haven’t watched the whole concert yet, Gail, but Elisa singing with Piero also impressed me! 😊

    2. Gail, I’ve been looking forward to these duets with Elisa for a long time; she is one of the most highly regarded and talented Italian female singers, so I really wanted to hear her perform with our guys, and I truly loved this performance.
Furthermore, the three tracks she sang with the guys are her own songs, and the one with Ignazio is titled “Ti vorrei sollevare.”

  5. Thank you Daniela and Pat for this wonderful, fantastic, videos of the first UNO PER TUTTI! It was such fun way to spend this very chilly afternoon in Connecticut! I thought they were all very good with Elisa! I love some of the new songs, man from lamancha, climb every mountain and many others! The comments are well deserved!

My heart aches for Gianluca, he so loved and appreciated his Nonno but he really was very professional, think he was singing for him!

Sending love and gratitude to both of you, Carol 💖💖💖🎼🎤🎹🎶🎵🤗❤️😘🙏🏻🇺🇸

    1. Carol, I’m glad I could bring a little warmth to a cold Connecticut afternoon.
The duets with Elisa are one of the best parts of the concert; all four of them have beautiful voices.

  6. Oh well done Daniela. I caught the Concert on U Tube here in The Land Down Under. The guys were in top form. Ofcourse Gian Luca melted my heart, Ignazio made me chuckle even when I don’t understand him and yet sang sensitively too. Piero just soared! I appreciated the variety of the set .. and loved Gian Luca singing with one of his masters .. .. it brought back memories of first finding Gian Luca as a serious eyed boy when randomly scrolling on U Tube … one of my first views of him alongside Ricardo Cocciante. 2009 I believe, when the boys first met, and pre the creation of Il Volo. Looking forward to the next Comcert. Thanks again for the review !!

    1. That’s great, Judy, I’m glad the concert can be clearly seen in Australia, too.
The singer-songwriter tracks that Gianluca performed during his solo segments are truly beautiful songs, and he interpreted them with great skill. In fact, everyone was fantastic, they all deserve plenty of highly positive feedback!

  7. Thanks Dear Daniela and Pat for another great post! And a special thanks to Daniela for all the translations. Can’t wait to watch it all tonight with my auto translate on.

Another baby? Wow, but I’m not surprised, considering how well the first one turned out!😘🎉🎈

    1. As I’ve already told Judi, if you need any more translations or the original lyrics to songs (along with translations), just let me know, I’d be happy to help.

      1. Thanks, Daniela! Of course your translations are way better than auto-translate!! But they are handy and better than nothing for the guys’ conversational exchanges.

Your words, Luz, are very competent. I approve of everything you’ve written. Our guys stand out for their skill, charm, and elegance. They are “stage animals,” as we call them here.
They deserve all the success they can get and all our love.

  9. I truly wish you hadn’t mentioned the rumors about the possible pregnancy of Michelle. It was started by her uncle, who apparently did do without checking with Ignazio and Michelle. He has since taken down his announcement, which is why I think you also should have honored Ignazio and Michelle’s wishes.

    1. Thanks, John, for bringing this up, I’ve already had Pat remove those words. I haven’t been following the internet much lately, I only log on for Flight Crew, and the news was passed on to me by a trusted friend who assured me it came from Ignazio’s family; I didn’t hear anything further after that. Now that you’ve mentioned this, I’ve verified it and have gone ahead and deleted the post—thanks!

Hi Ina, I have to admit that the recording of the concert is truly excellent; Canale 5 does a good job. I’ve noticed the audio issue other times that’s due to the location. Obviously, TV recordings have a place where all the sounds converge perfectly. This year, we had a speaker right in front of us, and the sounds were sometimes really loud, while on TV they’re perfect.
The children’s choir was added to the first night, and I think it will be on another night as well, because there were two children’s songs, if I’m not mistaken. This depends on the editing, but I have to say that overall, it was a very smooth and well-made show.

  12. Thank you, dear Daniela and Pat, for this wonderful, comprehensive article and also for translating the interviews! It’s incredible how quickly you managed to put all of this together, dear Daniela!

It was only yesterday that I finally got to watch the concert – but I had the pleasure of watching it with my parents, who are just as big Il Volo fans as I am, but are no longer able to travel. So I actually took out a one-month subscription to Mediaset. It worked perfectly here in Germany, and we were able to enjoy the concert in wonderful quality, both picture and sound. We absolutely loved it! Of course, watching a television recording gives you a completely different impression. This time, we could see all the musicians, enjoy a view of the entire orchestra and choir, and I loved the aerial shots. The audience also provided some fascinating moments to watch. Beautifully done! The sound quality was excellent, too. I completely agree with you, Ina and Daniela. Such a lovely reminder of this wonderful concert. I was surprised that Gianluca’s words to his Nonno were included in the broadcast – how lovely, even though it was such a deeply personal moment. On the other hand, I really wish they had also included Ignazio’s words immediately afterwards, because I found them very moving. Mediaset is obviously saving some of the guest artists for the next two broadcasts, as Madame and Fabio Concato, for example, who both performed at the first live concert, were missing. As for “our” three singers, I could go on raving about them forever! Ignazio, with his beautifully resonant voice, which can turn wonderfully rock-like whenever the music calls for it. His whole body becomes music when he sings, and his voice is so incredibly versatile. Piero is so different in his body language, so restrained in his movements, and yet I am always amazed by the sheer power of his voice. And Gianluca, who tells entire stories through the most elegant movements, right down to his fingertips – a feast for both the ears and the eyes. Everything he brings to the stage touches the heart. By the way, I also really enjoyed the Amadeus–Piero duo, even though I understood only a few words. Thank you, dear Daniela, for explaining their conversations. Your explanations came at just the right time for my parents and me and helped us understand everything so much better! And when you see how long the closing credits were, how many names were listed – what an enormous amount of work must go into putting together a production like this and staging these concerts! Now I am really looking forward to the next broadcast.

Just three weeks ago, at this very time, we were sitting in the audience at the third concert in Mantua. Oh, how I wish I could turn back the clock and experience it all over again!
    Warmest greetings to you all!

  13. Dear Katharina, I’m glad you managed to show the entire concert to your parents; they must have been thrilled to see you right there in the audience, close to Amadeus!!
I hope you’ve filled them in on everything you saw and did, and on the people you met—your stories surely must have captivated them, given that they’re fans of Il Volo.
It’s great that you got them a subscription to Mediaset. Yes, as you noticed, some duets are missing from this concert, but they will almost certainly be included in the other two evenings.
I’m so glad that Mantua has left you with such wonderful memories!!

  14. I was able to watch whole concert on YouTube. What great guests and Amadeus too. I loved how he helped Piero host the concert too. I saw Gianluca thanked everyone after they sand hallelujah and Piero wrapped his arms around him and Ignazio said how Gianluca was very courageous and sang all the songs and then he hugged piero and Ignazio especially his nonno passed away. Piero is singing Mano Mano with Riccardo concierte. I love them and can’t wait till the 21st for the next concert. I am from Pittsburgh,Pa USA Linda Hramika
