IL VOLO TOUR 2025: ROMA – EBOLI – BARI- MESSINA by Daniela

The tour stop was highly anticipated in the Italian capital.
The beautiful reviews and enthusiastic words of the people who attended the first concerts had led the way and Rome was joyfully awaiting Il Volo.

January 21: ROME

The concert was held in the Palazzo dello Sport.

IL VOLO ENCHANTS THE CAPITAL

Great success for the Roman leg of the tour: “Tutti per uno – Ad Astra live”.
Perfect synthesis of vocal power, passion, desire to give oneself completely to the public and to have fun, as only a few can do, in the name of the friendship that has accompanied them since they were children.
Today they are men, united by talent and the desire to continue growing, always facing new challenges, such as the new tour in Italian arenas “Tutti Per Uno – Ad Astra Live”.
Yesterday evening, January 21st, the Roman stage brought back to the stage of the Capital, after the summer success of the Baths of Caracalla, the unique voices of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, accompanied by the “Franciacorta” Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Edmondo Moses Savio.
Together in a perfect harmony of music and words.
Five large screens act as a backdrop. They punctuated with suggestive visuals a show enriched by lasers and plays of lights. A show within a show lasting over two hours.
On the stage of the Palazzo dello Sport for Il Volo the opportunity to celebrate 16 years of career, and the beginning was immediately a “masterpiece”.
Very rich lineup, with Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca who alternated performances together with moments as soloists, each bringing their own identity and personality.
They performed the songs from their first album of unreleased songs “Ad Astra”, such as the latest single “Tra le onde”. There was no shortage of great tributes, from Elton John to Claudio Villa, from Frank Sinatra to Simon & Gurfunkel. Emotion and shivers among the audience during the touching interpretation of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
Between applause and standing ovations, the trio also joked with the fans and sought their embrace, getting off the stage and immersing themselves in the crowd, with smiles and selfies. But everything always with their feet on the ground, without forgetting the origins, the beginnings and a heartfelt thank you to their manager, Michele Torpedine, who was also in the audience, under stage, listening to them. Then the heart-pounding grand finale with “Grande Amore”, the winning song of Sanremo in 2015. And Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca greet the Roman public with gratitude and with the promise of returning to the capital soon.
And now a series of photos by our friend Keisyuu who was enchanted by the concert!!

January 23 EBOLI

The concert is at Palasele.
We are in the province of Salerno, therefore in the Neapolitan area.
In this very famous area it is the “Neapolitan pastiera”, a typical dessert.

Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio fell from the sky tonight and tasted our masterpiece.🫠
What can I say, the guys certainly appreciated it!! 😋😋😋
Present at the concert was RADIO CITTA 105 which filmed and broadcast several videos of the show.
The show begins with two songs sung by Cecile who positions herself in front of the long black cloth, she sings with backing tracks, therefore without an orchestra. After Cecile’s two songs, the orchestra enters and positions itself, the Il Volo concert begins.

This report aired on SUD TV which I translated for you is also very nice.

Over two hours of great live music accompanied by the orchestra and special lighting effects, amidst the applause and hugs of the Campania public who filled the Palasele di Eboli last night for the highly anticipated Il Volo concert. The musical trio of young Italian tenors, winners of the Sanremo Festival, sang all the songs that characterized the success of their careers, presenting their latest great recording work AD ASTRA.
A European tour which last night included a stop in Eboli where the singer Cecile opened the concert, giving the go-ahead and assisting the great music of the trio: Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble.
“A path that will take us towards the stars”, said the three tenors from the stage as they presented the songs from the new album.
A great musical success last night which was fully booked at the Palasele in Eboli, thanks to the unique voice of the three tenors, in an event organized by Anni60 productions and which saw the general public singing and getting excited with one of the greatest and most important Italian musical groups in the world: Il Volo!
And ANNI 60 Production published these beautiful photos with this comment:
The enchantment of @ilvolomusic at the @palasele_official. ✨
The intertwining of their magnetic and powerful voices and the warmth of the Campania public will remain in the hearts of those who were there. ❤️

A medley and photos from Vurro Concerti, who posted this comment:
“A unique show full of emotions and talent ✨ Il Volo at the PalaFlorio in Bari.”
and Telebari published this nice review which I translate:
IL VOLO TRIUMPHS IN BARI WITH AN IMPECCABLE CONCERT. THE TRIO INVITES A CHILD TO DUET WITH THEM.
In recent months the concert calendar at the Palaflorio in Bari has been as rich as ever. Laura Pausini, Alessandra Amoroso, Tananai met and thrilled their target audience.
But when the three former child prodigies of the song, Il Volo, appeared on the bill, the opportunity arose to understand who their audience was.
And already from the early hours of the afternoon yesterday, January 24, near the sports hall of the Apulian capital, it was clear how varied the parterre of the fantastic three was.
Conservatory professors who have seen a boom in enrollments thanks to the “Volo phenomenon”, students hoping to pass their university exams after meeting their favorites, families who have found in Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio a common thread that could allow them to share an event of music and magic.
The portion of “no longer little girls” is particularly large but they have not put away their desire to sing at the top of their lungs; binoculars in hand, hoping to encounter a languid glance in one eye or a wink from another.
Two hours of impeccable show, not a false note, not a word out of place.
Thanks to the experience with the rock star stylist Nick Cerioni, the looks are very refined: shirt collars embellished with Swarovski crystals, studded Louboutins on the feet and slicked hair.
Solo performances alternate with the classic lineup, there is no shortage of Sanremo hits as well as homages to great artists on the world music scene, from Frank Sinatra to Queen, from Leonard Cohen to Franco Battiato.
Laser lights and LED videos accompany the unreleased songs from the album “Ad Astra”.
Puglia is generous and gives flowers, posters, hearts and many standing ovations.
The boys appreciate and pay homage to their historic manager Michele Torpedine (from Minervino Murge – Puglia), they are attentive to their youngest fans so much so that they notice the yellow-red sign of little Alessio Lapertosa, who begs to be able to duet with them, and the dream ends come true.
A world tour awaits the three boys of pop-classical music. The world acclaims them, Italy snubs them a bit, loves them a bit.
A little we would like to see them more uninhibited and spontaneous, like when they allowed us to play with their looks in Sanremo.
A really good article, even if I don’t agree with the ending, when he writes that Italy “would like them to be a little more uninhibited and spontaneous”…….I don’t understand what he means, or rather I understand that journalists believe that Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio are perfect and would like to see some flaws in them, such as some false words or some bad words… these journalists really don’t understand that Il Volo is like that, simple and not at all set, but still polite and never over the top and this is certainly not what makes them less spontaneous, on the contrary!!!! Many rude kids should take example from this way of behaving!! 😉

How wonderful is this video of Piero among the people while he sings Vicinissimo. Adorable!!!
He sees his nieces, daughters of a cousin, Calogero, and Piero spoke to us about them in an interview, saying that he adores the little girls. He picks them up while singing!!! Piero’s grandmother and mother can be seen next to the granddaughters. Piero’s cousin posted this video with this comment:
“You are great, our pride…..and our little ones love you with the same intensity that you love them.❤️ We love you very much ❤️”
The mayor of Messina, Federico Basile posted this comment:
“🎶✨ Il Volo enchants PalaRescifina🎤
This evening the “Il Volo” concert gave unique emotions and unforgettable moments to all those present.
an administration, we are constantly committed to offering citizens and tourists from other cities events of great artistic and cultural value.
The objective is to promote Messina, while stimulating the development of the local economy and the tourist enhancement of the area.
In this way, we proudly strengthen the Messina, City of Music and Events brand.”
So the tour of the Italian arenas ended in the best possible way and I am extremely happy about it.
The newspaper articles that wrote well-deserved praise for Il Volo were also beautiful.
There is less than a month left until the start of Sanremo and the promos announcing the event are running on Italian television and here’s what you will surely appreciate!!
Speaking of Sanremo, I had already announced that Il Volo will feature a duet with Clara on the Cover evening on February 14th.
But now there is some more news, the song they will perform together has been announced and it is THE SOUND OF SILENCE, how exciting, I can’t wait!!
I’ve finished updating you on these last few days, but there’s one more piece of news, on Tuesday 28th January Il Volo will be at LE IENE, in the program TRAVELING WITH IL VOLO, there will be fun!!

And I’m done with this, but I’ll see you very soon!!!

Thanks from Gianluca

Another page has ended, and with it the Italian tour. I carry within me a mix of sensations and emotions that are difficult to describe. What does it mean to go on stage every night, in front of thousands of people? It is a journey that goes beyond voice and singing: it is an exchange, a ritual. The energy that is concentrated in a place is transformed into something palpable. You absorb it, keep it, make it yours, only to return it in a different, more intense, more alive form. Giving yourself completely, to the point of losing yourself, and then finding yourself in the emotion of those who listen to you: this is the greatest lesson I have learned in all these years of my career.
Being an artist is not pure ego, but transcendence. It is not just the desire to assert oneself or leave a personal mark, but an act of connection. It is building a bridge towards the universal, a space in which the boundary between the individual and the collective dissolves. Art, perhaps, is precisely this: a reflection of our ego, but also an attempt to overcome it, seeking what unites us, what makes us human.
Thank you all for being part of this process, for your presence which allows me to dig deeply, within myself and within us. Together, every evening, we created something that goes beyond words. This is the true gift.
Gianluca

PALMANOVA-MONTECARLO-TORRE DEL LAGO by Daniela

Where were we? The last three concerts before the August break.

31 July:  Palmanova

The beautiful star-shaped city, with a polygonal plan with nine points, a fortified military citadel, in ancient times surrounded by walls, or rather bastions, and turrets or “armors” at the corners, truly remarkable.

You all heard the unrest that occurred in Venezuela after the elections and before the song Hallelujah Ignazio made this beautiful and sweet dedication:
“If you allow me this evening I would like to personally dedicate this next song to everything that is happening in Venezuela, now you know that for me it is family (applause) and not all information reaches the world and this next song is for them, for those who have suffered , for those who are suffering, and for those who have unfortunately already left us, we would like to invite you to turn on your cell phone flashes because who knows, maybe they are seeing us from up there.”
In response, Michelle published this photo with this dedication:
“Thank you my love @ignazioboschetto for dedicating this song and raising your voice for our Venezuela!!!”
And now a delightful moment in the company of Olivia who brings us a sweet smile. 😍

August 3:  MONTE CARLO

The concert will be held in the beautiful Salle Des Etoiles.
The concert will be opened by Lara Ferrari, an Italian singer who posted the photo with this dedication:
“It was a great emotion to open the beautiful Il Volo concert in the splendid Salle Des Ètoiles of the prestigious Sporting Club Monte Carlo with my big brothers Sugarpie & The Candymen.
Thanks guys for the photo and the chat!”
Dinner is also provided for the public present and we all know that the Monte Carlo public is perhaps a little more demanding than the public that crowds out the various concerts, but I can say, after seeing the various videos that the public certainly appreciated the great skill singing and entertaining by Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca!

And this is it for the last three concerts before the two-week summer break, it resumes on August 24th with the concert in MONOPOLI (Bari).
But the news doesn’t end here, because Il Volo has announced new dates that it will hold in January in the sports halls in Italy, here they are:
So the concert program in Italy intensifies long before leaving to come to you in the US. 😉
But this is not the only news. 😉
A Sicilian city: Agrigento (which is also the province where Piero lives), is a candidate to be the Capital of Culture next year and therefore to promote the event they thought of filming a nice concert by Il Volo in the beautiful Valle dei Temples and exactly in front of the Temple of Concordia. This project has taken shape and the concert is scheduled for August 31st. Since the square contains few people, around 500, and the video is sponsored by the Municipality of Agrigento and therefore free, entry by invitation was considered and Il Volo therefore sent an email to those registered in the fan club to invite them to sign up. this opportunity. It’s truly a beautiful gift for anyone who can be present at this concert!!

Temple of Concordia

And this is the email that went to all the fan club members.
But, do you remember that Il Volo said they were going to film a PBS special filmed in Egypt with the pyramids? Unfortunately, the very tense situation in the Middle East caused this beautiful event to be cancelled.
It is also thought that this event in Agrigento could also be used for the PBS special, but this is not yet confirmed.
The Agrigento Notizie newspaper talks about two concerts, one on August 31st and the other on September 1st. It is also thought that this event in Agrigento could also be used for the PBS special, but also for the Canale 5 Christmas special, but these two latest news has not yet been confirmed, so we will follow developments.
Here is the article from Agrigento Notizie:

Concert of Il Volo in the Valley of the Temples, 2 dates: it remains to be clarified who will be able to attend.

With the regional decree of recent days, the bureaucratic procedures are unblocked for an event that will be more advertising than musical.
The first details of one of the “highlight” events of the city’s preparation for the year of capital of culture 2025 are starting to leak out, albeit informally: the Il Volo concert in the Valley of the Temples.
An initiative that will in all respects be more advertising than musical in itself, so much so that in the decree signed in recent days by the Sicilian Region, with which 500 thousand euros are allocated to support the event, it is linked to the promotion on TV between Italy and the United States. This is because the concert by Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble will take place on two dates, August 31st and September 1st, in favor of cameras: a show will be filmed to then be broadcast on Mediaset channels during the Christmas period, The other one will be used for US TV.
What still needs to be understood is whether and how it will be possible for the public to attend the concerts. The location, probably the esplanade in front of the Temple of Concordia, will not be able to accommodate more than 400 people and it is not yet known how they will be selected: the hypothesis of an invitation-only event is the most accredited, while it seems very unlikely that an initiative of this type could be open access.
The economic aspect also needs to be defined: if it is true that the decree approved in recent days allocates 500 thousand euros with funds from the cultural heritage department, the overall cost of the operation should exceed one million euros, with other resources coming from national and regional governments as well as the archaeological park.
And this is all for the moment, I would say that our boys don’t have a moment of peace, I hope that at least in these very hot days of August they will be able to rest a little and regain their energy.
My Sicilian holiday went very well, I only went to Palermo and Cefalù. In Palermo I was staying right next to the Cathedral from where Il Volo sang on July 15th. From my bedroom window I could have seen them very well without even moving. It’s a shame that when I booked the days of my stay, nothing was known about this further commitment of Il Volo in Palermo.
But that’s okay, the important thing is to always have good and positive news from our beloved boys.
See you soon: Daniela 🤗

DID YOU KNOW????

icon questHi Everyone,

The time is getting short till the Concerts begin!  The “Guys” are leaving for Russia this week, according to Gianluca’s tweet. I’m sure they’ll be safe in Moscow. The Crimea is a long distance away and I’m sure they’ll have good security. They were kept safe last year, despite some safety risks in some of the countries they visited. Il Volo will take Russia by storm just as they have everywhere else they’ve been. Their music transends everything, all people and all countries.

DID YOU KNOW????

Vic Damone (born Vito Rocco Farinola; June 12, 1928) is an American singer and entertainer.

vic3

Damone was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Italian immigrants based in Bari, Italy—Rocco and Mamie (Damone) Farinola. His father was an electrician, and his mother taught piano. His cousin was the actress and singer Doretta Morrow. Inspired by his favorite singer, Frank Sinatra, Damone began taking voice lessons. He sang in the choir at St. Finbar’s Church in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, for Sunday mass under organist Anthony Amorello.

When his father was injured at work, Damone had to drop out of high school. He worked as an usher and elevator operator in the Paramount Theater in Manhattan.[1] He met Perry Como, while at the Paramount Theater. Vic stopped the elevator between floors, sang for him and asked his advice if he should continue voice lessons. Impressed, Como said, “Keep singing!” and referred him to a local bandleader. Vito Farinola decided to call himself Vic Damone, using his mother’s maiden name.

Damone entered the talent search on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts and won in April 1947. This led to his becoming a regular on Godfrey’s show. He met Milton Berle at the studio and Berle got him work at two night clubs. By mid-1947, Damone had signed a contract with Mercury Records.

His first release, “I Have But One Heart”, reached #7 on the Billboard chart. “You Do” (released November 1) reached the same peak. These were followed by a number of other hits. In 1948 he got his own weekly radio show, Saturday Night Serenade.[1]

In 1951, Damone appeared in two movies: The Strip and Rich, Young and Pretty. From 1951 to 1953 he served in the United States Army, but before going into the service he recorded a number of songs which were released during that time. He served with future Northwest Indiana radio personality Al Evans, and also country music star Johnny Cash. After leaving the service, he married the Italian actress Pier Angeli (Anna Maria Pierangeli), and in 1954 made two more movies: Deep in My Heart and Athena. He also made some guest appearances on Milton Berle’s television show in 1954.

In 1955, Damone had one song on the charts, “Por Favor,” which did not make it above #73. However, he did have major roles in two movie musicals, Hit the Deck and Kismet. In early 1956, he moved from Mercury to Columbia Records and had some success on that label with hits like “On the Street Where You Live” (from My Fair Lady, his final pop top ten) and “An Affair to Remember” (from the movie of the same name). His six original, long-playing albums on Columbia between 1957 and 1961 were That Towering Feeling, Angela Mia, Closer Than a Kiss, This Game of Love, On the Swingin’ Side and Young and Lively.

In 1961, he was released by Columbia, moving over to Capitol Records, where he filled in the gap left by Frank Sinatra’s leaving to help found Reprise Records. He lasted at Capitol only until 1965; however, he recorded some of his most highly regarded albums there, including two which made the Billboard chart, Linger Awhile with Vic Damone and The Lively Ones, the latter with arrangements by Billy May, who also arranged another of Damone’s Capitol albums, Strange Enchantment. Other original Capitol albums included My Baby Loves to Swing, The Liveliest, and On the Street Where You Live.

Damone did limited acting on television in the early 1960s. He played Stan Skylar in the 1960 episode “Piano Man” of CBS’s The DuPont Show with June Allyson. He was cast as Jess Wilkerson in the 1961 episode “The Proxy” of the ABC western series, The Rebel, starring Nick Adams. He played the crooner Ric Vallone in the 1962 episode “Like a Sister” of the CBS sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show. In the summers of 1962 and 1963 Damone hosted a television variety series on NBC called The Lively Ones, which showcased current jazz, pop and folk performers as well as comedians.       vic

Other notable television work during this time included three guest appearances from 1963 to 1964 on CBS’s The Judy Garland Show. In addition to his solo performances, he and Garland sang duet medleys of songs from Porgy and Bess, West Side Story, and Kismet.

In 1965, Damone moved next to Warner Bros. Records with the albums You Were Only Fooling and Country Love Songs. On Warners he had one Top 100 chart hit: “You Were Only Fooling (While I Was Falling In Love).” The next year he moved again, to RCA Victor Records, releasing the albums Stay with Me, Why Can’t I Walk Away, On the South Side of Chicago and The Damone Type of Thing. In 1967, Damone hosted “The Dean Martin Summer Show”, which was rerun in 1971. In 1969 he released his last US chart record, a cover of the 1966 song “To Make A Big Man Cry”, which made the Billboard Easy Listening

On June 12, 2009, Vic Damone released his autobiography titled Singing Was the Easy Part from St. Martin’s Press.

In December 2, 2011, at the age of 83, Damone launched an official Facebook profile dedicated to his fans. In addition to posting recent photos Damone writes that besides spending time with his family he spends his retirement enjoying golf and football.

Damone has married five times and divorced four:

  1. The Italian actress Anna Maria Pierangeli (Pier Angeli) (1954–1958) (one son – Perry Damone)
  2. Judith Rawlins (1963–1971) Victoria, Andrea, and Daniella
  3. Becky Ann Jones (1974–1982), the American entertainer
  4. Diahann Carroll (1987–1996) The marriage produced their only child Charves Damone. (This relationship is referenced in the 1997 film Money Talks, in which Chris Tucker’s character claims to be Vic Damone Jr., the son of Damone and Carroll)
  5. Rena Rowan-Damone (1998 to present), the fashion designer and co-creator of Jones New York (Jones Apparel Group).

vic4

Damone has six grandchildren from his daughters (Tate, Paige, Sloane, Rocco, Daniella Grace, Grant).

He lives in Palm Beach County, Florida.

(This one is for Ann, she noted in one of her comments that she loved Vic Damome)

Lets take a look at Bari, Italy, where Damone’s parents were from.

bari2

Bari  (Bari dialect: Bare; Latin: Barium; Ancient Greek: Barion) is the capital city of the province of Bari and of the Apulia (or, in Italian, Puglia) region, on the Adriatic Sea, in Italy. It is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples, and is well known as a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas. The city itself has a population of about 320,475, as of 2011, over 116 km, while the fast-growing urban area counts 653,028 inhabitants over 203 km The metropolitan area counts 1 million inhabitants.

Bari is made up of four different urban sections. To the north is the closely built old town on the peninsula between two modern harbours, with the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral of San Sabino (1035–1171) and the Swabian Castle built for Frederick II, which is now also a major nightlife district. To the south is the Murat quarter (erected by Joachim Murat), the modern heart of the city, which is laid out on a rectangular grid-plan with a promenade on the sea and the major shopping district (the via Sparano and via Argiro).

bari

Modern residential zones surround the centre of Bari, the result of chaotic development during the 1960s and 1970s replacing the old suburbs that had developed along roads splaying outwards from gates in the city walls. In addition, the outer suburbs have developed rapidly during the 1990s. The city has a redeveloped airport named after Pope John Paul II, Karol Wojtyła Airport, with connections to several European cities.
