Hey Everyone!
It’s been a little while since we last posted this feature. We’ve had a lot of exciting things going on and holidays and coverage of the guys as they make another promotional run in the US. But, I miss reading the comments, and I think we might need reasons to smile this week, so here we go. 🙂
We’re smiling because Connie, (Piratesorka) has shared her story about what Il Volo has meant in her life. Head over to the Experience section to read, “My Il Volo Discovery.”
And we’re smiling through our tears that the time has come for the guys to finally return home for a well earned, more than deserved and much needed rest from touring. We’re smiling because it’s time for them to get hugs from their mamas, spend time with the brothers and sisters that have missed them so and to hang out with their friends and just be “one of the guys” in time for Christmas.
Thank you, Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio for including us in this incredible journey you have taken in the last four years. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves–your talent, your time, your personalities, personal moments in your lives and so much love for your fans. It touches us more than we can say, but we hope that all the hugs, kisses, gifts and well-wishes we’ve sent show you a little bit.
And please say “Thank you,” to all of your family and friends… everyone that loves you so well, supports you so much and shares you so openly with us. I imagine it isn’t always easy to let you go when it is time, but we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the gift of their loved ones they have shared with us.
Be safe, be happy, and we can hardly wait until you come back!
~~ Kelly
Why are you smiling?
Because of people like KYALPYN who are SO good at expressing what I, too, feel!!! The words don’t come as easy for me, but the feelings are just as strong!!!
Kelly, your description of how we feel is so right on. Thank you for putting it into words. I only hope our Boys read it and know how we feel and many, many other people. We so appreciate what they have done for us.
I am smiling because I finally got to see Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca in person for the first time at the Mall of America.
But it’s a kinda watery smile because I know they will be gone from us for a very long time. Have a safe journey home, Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca, and enjoy your time with your families and friends. Have a wonderful Christmas!.
You said it all so well Kelly. My tears are flowing when they leave but there will be tears of happiness when they return. I know we’ll be looking forward to any snippit of information of any interview or concert they have over in Italy or elsewhere. But most of all I want them have the rest & sleep they sorely need.
Ignazio, Gianluca & Piero my love is always with you & I am always thinking of you
Thank you Kelly for your sweet encouragement. I felt so much better after having gotten my words on paper. Now I can daydream about the day I get my words out in front of Piero, Ignazio and Gianlucca…but mostly PIERO!
Hi Connie I say your Il Volo Discovery post & answered it also. It was very interesting & heart warming to see we all go through something the same experiences.
Im smiling because I’m thinking of how much having Il Volo in my life has meant to me. Through them I have toured through many states and countries, felt the thrill of adoring reactions from fans, learned how sweet, kind amd generous three young men can be, thrilled by th e beauty of their music, charmed by their physical beauty and their unique and charismatic personalities, and felt the passion of their presence. They have brought smiles to my lips, passion to my heart, uplift to my soul, and faith in the goodness of mankind. Is that laying it on too much? I don’t think so. They are our treasures and our blessing.
NO its not laying it on too much! Not at all. The really terrific thing is that I know you are not alone in this because I have experienced it too and I am sure many others in the Flight Crew have too. The music of IL VOLO grabbed us all first but it goes beyond three young guys who sing well, and THAT is the magic of IL VOLO. They capture our ears, our hearts, our imaginations and give us joy!
Connie
Aw, Kelly, now you’ve made me cry, and I hope you’re happy! 😀 No, seriously, you’ve expressed perfectly how I feel about “our guys”…thank you! They bring me such joy, and I’m so grateful. And Mary, you expressed it well, too. They are very, very special. I’m so glad they’re around, and I can’t wait until they return!
My smiles like all of yours are all il Colo related. Because of their beautiful voices angelic personalities not to mention their handsomeness. And the fact that I got to see them when they performed in Pitts.was the icing on the cake. I absolutely adore them and am so happy they finally get to go home and spend Christmas and time with their loved ones.
Mary you said just the way I feel about Our Boys. Every word you said is in my heart for our Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca! I have never, never, never heard “Oh Holy Night” sung better. And when Piero hits and holds those high notes, my heart just about bursts out of my chest!I
I am smiling because three beautiful, and talented singers, are sharing their glorious voices with us, and the whole world, too!
Yes! When Piero hits those incredible notes and holddddddddddddsssss them for so long I just about swoon its so wonderful. Aren’t we lucky to be around to see these amazing young men!
Connie
Because, if I m not mistaken…., Mas Que Amor jumped to 11th position on Billboard Latin Chart and scored the biggest jump since last week
and 3rd position (from 14 of last week) in Latin Pop Album Chart
I’m smiling because of this wonderful site we have to share our love and devotion to Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio! They light up my world. I hope they will have peace and serenity as they relax with their families and friends for the Holidays. They truly are living the dream!
I’m also smiling because I wanted to let everyone know about a cool You Tube video that I had never seen before: it’s listed as “Il Volo-Piero Barone “Where Do I Begin?” Special Video”,,,it’s apparently one he made earler this year, and in it he’s playing drums, piano, and guitar…all at the same time (through the magic of video, of course!) He sings the song beautifully, too. It’s pretty cool, look it up!
Oh I love that video! I saw that one a long time ago and its one of my faves of my darling Piero! Very clever of him.
Exquisitely expressed, Kelly, Mary B. and all. Thank you!
I / we love you, Gianluca, Ignazio, and Piero, and wish you the most joyous, Family-and-Friends-Love-Filled, Relaxing, Fun, Christmas-Spirited vacation you can ever remember!
I am smiling because the vision of my multimedia book IL VOLO: The Synergy of Love sometimes greets me with new insights as I awaken. The sweetest treat has to do with the Love that flows between Our Boys and the Music itself!
And I am so jazzed about the wisdom of Alice Herz Sommers, at 109, the oldest living pianist. One of my favorite thoughts from Alice SO expresses our IL VOLO experience…. “It is a mystery that when the first tone of music starts, it goes straight away in our SOUL.”
My Soul is dancing with joy and appreciation for IL VOLO Love-filled harmony!
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Jeanine, I saw that dear Alice Herz Sommers too. She was a wonderful person to interview. Her love of music just flows through her and kept her alive when others must have been giving up. I imagine she does inspire your book topic too.
Thanks for your reflection, Connie! Yes, Alice is so full of Light and Flight! I feel Alice is a kindred spirit with IL VOLO.
Actually, it was when Ignazio tweeted, “Tonight we received a póster on stage..! And on the póster i read “you change my world” but the thing is YOU #ilvolovers changed our world!!”
within 24 hours the book started coming to me.
In this last week others who live this vision of the glory of music keep showing up for me…. 109-year-old Alice, 12-year-old pianist composer philanthropist Ethan Bortnick, 25-year-old survivor of stage 4 cancer Rohan Herring (X-factor) singing I Believe I Can Fly.
Music is Life… Yes? (; >)
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Yes Jeanine, I do believe that music surrounds us. the beat of our heart, the whisper of the wind, the growl of the earthquake. We humans just happen to put it to various rhythms and sounds then add poetry. Singers such as IL VOLO put their very soul into what they do, thats why it touches us so deeply. This I believe. I am very interested in your book.
Connie
Sweet, Connie. Your expression is poetry.
Put my multimedia book on your prayer list, if you will. It’s just in the framework stage. I did mention it in an email to Barbara Vitali and Michele Torpedine; still, it could take a while before they read the email or decide to consider responding, much less giving me permission to pursue this book. And yet, the book has a Life of its own, so we’ll see… (; >)
Thanks for the encouragement!
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Beautiful inspiration,Jeanine. I will be very interested in seeing this vision carried through. Il VOLO shows us all once again that music is a language all of it’s own…I literally am carried to a different dimension when listening to Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio sing. A dimension one step closer to heaven. Thank you, Jeanine for all of your uplifting words here on this beautiful site.
What an honor to read what you have expressed so warmly and eloquently here, MaryJane! Thank you so much!
Truly another dimension. Oh… that reminds me, Michele Torpedine, their manager, actually says that about them (they’re in a different dimension) in the first documentary for the IL VOLO Takes Flight documentary!
Gratitude for all Our Boys and their Music share
that is UP Lifting (; >)
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Smiling because…These young men have impacted so many lives with their magical blend of music, passion, kindness and elegance. I watch their concerts -esp. early on – via Youtube and it seems I’m watching history in the making with these powerful voices and gorgeous souls soaring with their hearts. They are such a delight to see and hear, always polite, well-spoken and nicely dressed. I can’t listen to them too much!! They truly are “The Flight” and I’m so glad to be able to experience them via tecnology. Some day I hope to see them for real. Love all three!! Sigh…
Couldn’t comment under anything like “I’m smiling because” yesterday. Because I wasn’t. Hard to think of anything to smile about when my Beautiful Boys are going so far away! But reading what you have all written gives me good company for lamenting. And that makes me smile.
Yes CJ, we are watching history in the making and we have a front row seat for the entire ride. How lucky are we?
Love you Boys. Miss you already!
I’m smiling too, like all of you, through our tears, when we think how much we’ll miss them. I’m smiling when I think how happy Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca will be when they are re-united with their family and friends!! Safe trip Guys and Buon Natale!!
Always in my prayers, Gianluca, Piero, Ignazio, for safe travel, happy Christmas, and return to us soon! I’m smiling, I’m crying, I’m waiting. My love to Il Volo and all the Flight Crew members!
I’m smiling because even though the “weather outside is frightful”, in this website and with all who visit here, it’s warm & comforting & safe to share our common joy: Il Volo. It is awesome that everything written here already today is shared by all. Just know that you’ve already described what is in my heart, that I’m smiling because of the gift of Il Volo Flight Crew which came about because of the miracle of Gianluca, Piero & Ignazio (who I never even heard of until June 1, 2013 on a PBS special at exactly 12 noon. A watershed moment in my life, to be sure.) I’m smiling because of all that I have learned and experienced thru touring with our boys to places I never could have been or seen.
I feel like we have a sisterhood here (with our little adopted brother Myron). And if I’m having a bad or sad day, this is where I come to feel better. And I’m smiling because, as we know, our guys have precious little time to themselves, but they always keep connected to their fans. I’m so thankful to all of the Flight Crew & friends. God bless you, Ignazio, Gianluca & Piero, all your families. Have a blessed Christmas, stay safe, get healthy and know that you are loved by so many! 💞💜💞 (sorry for any typos)
Marie I saw the tribute to Ignazio on the All Things Il Volo singing In the Arms of the Angels. Did you put it on that site? If you did can I get a link to that video please.
Its OK Marie I got it
Thanks for the off-list help, Loretta! I found the Angel tribute to Ignazio. Anyone else looking, you can search YouTube for
il volo ignazio boschetto noemi torres gomez
and that will get you there.
In skimming through All Things IL VOLO, I saw the photo of Gianluca with the Disney bag, the exact same bag (blue, purple, and gold with the castle and fireworks) that appeared in recycling here in Oregon on Sept. 8, 2013, right after sharing with my Mom about the possibility of a Disney movie!
Which leaves me wondering if IL VOLO participating in the Disney Christmas parade is a precursor of more to come!
I’m smiling because Disney magic is in the air, while Ignazio (and his IL VOLO brothers) are in the arms of the Angel!
Loved the photo of them kissing the hallowed ground of their beloved Italy!
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
I am smiling because I am so very grateful to have found this site and all of you special women who share my passion for Il Volo and who express every emotion I feel for them so beautifully.I love Gianluca , Piero and Ignazio ( Gianluca has an extra special place in my heart ) very much, as you all do, and I hope they return to this country ,and all of us, as soon as possible in 2014. All my love and best wishes to our beautiful boys and their wonderful families for a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy , Happy, and Restful New Year.
I am smiling because I just came down with a terrible sore throat, BUT…I just watched the IL VOLO BORDERS interview and didn’t even feel the pain!!! Now that’s what I call GREAT PAIN RELIEF…the nautral (IL VOLO ) way! 🙂 It is really a great interview with the guys. They are so relaxed and natural. One of the MANY reasons we LOVE THEM!
Keep feeling better, MaryJane!
I found Part I of this fantastic interview on Mundial, and now I see Part 2 there as well. In the meantime, I went to YouTube and watched the entire 29:27 minute interview. Search for…
Il Volo en Border Crossings – December 4th, 2013
(interviewed by Larry London with the Voice of America)
It looks like there’s maybe a minute missing from the interviews on Mundial.
Loretta, I see that it was Dec. 4th.
I like that they went into the highlight of their careers, which varied. Nice to hear.
Myron, any thoughts on minutes 26-27, when Piero’s voice amazingly sounded great while it also had a hoarse aspect. I am amping up my prayers for their voices, their rest, and their FLIGHT HOME tomorrow! Meeting their families again!
Love and joyous blessings to you, Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca!
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Yes Jeanine I noticed Ignazio’s voice at the Disney taping also listening just now to Piero so I have been praying that they will get the rest they deserve & also that they will not sing for a while to rest their voices. Doesn’t look like they will get too voice resting when they have to sing on the 14th & 18th
Yes, Loretta! I am praying for their resting time to be greatly expanded.
Have you ever had a time where it felt like 3 hours and it was really only 1 hour? Like that…. more rest than is imaginable in the time they have between the 10th and the 14th and 18th! Perhaps their angels can arrange for this.
Sweetest dreams, Ignazio, Piero, Gianluca, Barbara Vitali, and all our Flight Crew,
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Thank you MaryJane for mentioning Border Crossings & that Il Volo was being interviewed. Weren’t they beautiful & wonderful & handsome, don’t know what day they were there but I enjoyed it now
Thanks again
I am smiling because 1) my little one is home for the holidays, 2) I just watched a fantastic interview – Il Volo en Border Crossings, 3) our guys are going home today to their families and love ones.
Gianluca, Piero, Ignazo have a safe journey home and a very happy holidays. If you are happy, I am happy…
I just finished watching Border Crossings. What a lovely finish for this year. I thought I had reached the epitome of love and respect for these guys, but this interview has taken me even higher. To have watched them mature into these charming, intelligent, savvy young men has been thrilling. I felt that this interview provided the perfect closure for this year of touring. It ‘s been great and now they are ready to move on to 2014 to bring us more beautiful memories. I can’t wait to see what OUR BOYS have in store for us!!
Hallelujah!!! I’m back among the living! Power went off at my house, due to the terrible ice storm in Dallas, and after 3 1/2 days of no electricity, I’m now back home and at my computer.
My heart is slowly breaking because Our Boys are leaving today. My mind says that it’s wonderful that they are returning to family and friends and a much deserved rest, but I can’t quite wrap myself around the idea that they are GONE.
I see that we all feel the same way….Happy, yet sad. sad, SAD.
Well, as several have said, I will try to smile through the tears, but it’s HARD TO DO!!!
Love to each and every one of you. It’s interacting with all of the Flight Crew that make this parting from The Boys bearable. We have each other and this FABULOUS SITE!!!!! Thank you, Marie, Kelly, Michele, Linda, Elaine, Elizabeth for your absolute genius in putting this whole thing together and making every day an exciting adventure!
Helen B.
P.S. Border Crossing was MARVELOUS, wasn’t it?!!!!!!
Glad to hear that you’re okay, Helen. Right, so sad but so happy!!
Goodbye, Gianluca, Piero, and Ignazio. I love you and will miss you so much!
Welcome back, Helen! Hope you’re WARM!
So… everyone who’s in that happy-sad space…
happy Our Guys are heading home to their beloved families and friends whom they have missed so much!
sad that they aren’t just down the road apiece or right in front of us…
This is a fantastic time to use our Love of the Guys and DO something with it to make this world better, more joyous, more harmonious! What can or are you doing? Here are some thoughts I’ve heard shared or that have zipped around in my own mind.
~ choose which IL VOLO albums or songs (iTunes or Amazon mp3s) to send to friends for early Christmas gifts
~ make a calendar with IL VOLO images, of course dedicating February (11th!) to Gianluca, June (24th) to Piero, and October (4th) to Ignazio. You could add quotes from them, too.
~ make bookmarks with IL VOLO quotes and / or images
~ make your own special theme playlist
~ have a dance party with a playlist especially created with IL VOLO music (I think I’ll have scarves to swish through the air!)
~ have friends over to watch Buon Natale with you (got the DVD?)
~ gather a friend or two, a thermos of hot chocolate or tea, and Buon Natale, and drive around looking at lights and singing with IL VOLO
Our Guys are only a song away! and they are always in our hearts!
Anticipating your joy, Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca, as you hug your families and friends! Besos!
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
Jeanine, what neat ideas! I have been bummed out all day because the guys left, and who knows when they’ll come back. Thank you!
Thanks, Ruth! Creative IL VOLO-Loving activities always lift my day!
Oh, and I left off my list sharing a favorite IL VOLO experience, story, song, playlist, or whatever in our Christmas or holiday letter.
Or what about making up party appetizers and strategically naming each appetizer after something IL VOLO? You could even have appetizer name tags by each plate… sure to bring smiles to people’s faces! (whether it’s a knowing smile or an “I can’t believe it!” smile)
MARIE, I think I feel a poem (from YOU!) coming on! (; >)
And how about Christmas cookies with a tell-tale IL VOLO sign! Red glasses, anyone? Elizabeth, I’ve been enjoying your art work. Do you do art work on food, too?
I’ll bet folks out there could add to the list! I’d like to see photos and videos posted of the creative activities our IL VOLO friends are doing to lift spirits, share the IL VOLO cheer, and promote Buon Natale! Remember, when Our Boys are on vacation, we step up to the plate and redouble our promotional efforts! (; >)
I am having so much fun thinking of all the cool things we can do this winter!
Alright, who out there is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree?!
Rockin’ out…
~ Jeanine DuBois, Compassion’s Doorway
I am smiling because our boys are headed home a place I am sure they have missed dearly. But I am sad that they will be so far away. I am already anticipating their return. Il Volo we all love you!!!!
