‘Twas The Night before Christmas

I have to post this poem I wrote (mangled) last Christmas. It’s my favorite for obvious reasons. Just had to change one word.

ignazio and santa smaller

‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the villa,
not a creature was stirring, not even Godzilla (couldn’t think of another rhyme)

When, what to my wondering eyes should I hear, (I take liberties)
but a song and three Boys, not tiny, but Dear! (lots of liberties)

I saw Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio too,
up to my rooftop, to my living room they flew!

They were dressed all in Brioni, from their head to their foot,
but their clothes were all tarnished, with ashes and soot.

A bundle of love they had in their pack,
and they looked just like heaven, when I calmly stared back!

His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! (that really is a line!)
Piero’s glasses were there, the color of cherry! (that one’s not)

Gian said not a word but went straight to his work
and filled all my dreams with songs and a perk!

He’d left me Ignazio all covered with bows
and giving a nod up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his Fiat, to Piero gave a whistle,
and away they both flew, like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim as they drove out of site,
“Happy Christmas to all, I hope Marie doesn’t bite!”

  1. your poetic talent never ceases to amaze me Marie. Don’t we all wish we could find the boys under our tree. Happy Christmas to all. Joanie g

    1. I loved the concert too. The boys just keep
getting better and better. Thanks Marie for
getting this concert out to Ilvolovers. I never
get tired of hearing them. They put a lot of
      expression and emotion into their
performance and I loved it. Nice poem too.
We all need to laugh more.

    2. I forgot to say I have watched it three
      times already. Are they scheduled
for any more concerts this week?

  2. I just realized what’s wrong with our U.S. Senate. They don’t have Il Volo Concerts on the Senate floor! Now, wouldn’t that solve a lot of problems? They might get happy, relax and agree for a change. (Marie’s mini-soapbox)

  3. I love the poem Marie !!! Made me smile from ear to ear !! The only thing that could make me smile more would be finding our three cuties in my house Christmas morning !!
Even though we can already see the video of the Senate concert I am still recording it on RAI TV at 5:45EST.

    1. Thank you for the Birthday wish. We need to share Ignazio. We love and adore this funny man with the FANTASTIC voice. I don’t think he would mind me being another Grandmother.

  4. Just finished watching the Senate concert and it was so wonderful to finally see our beloved Il Volo performing again. Weren’t those little kids fun to watch? Well, when I could take my eyes off Piero, that is. It was fun to read your poem, again, Marie. I love it!

  5. Marie, Marie…you’ve done it again! Made me laugh in spite of myself!! I Santa was any kind of Santa, he would at least bring us a t-shirt!! The poem was delightful…have a wonderful Christmas!!…dot

  6. Happy Birthday to you Alice, and Marie as usual you brought yet another smile to my face with your wit. I know it is early, but I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Glorious New Year. It has been a year to remember. Thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful family and I look forward to many more adventures with you all in 2015. I think it is going to be one hell of a year for “Our Guys”. Bless you all. 🙂

  7. Oh, Marie, do you really bite??? Probably you just bite those dimples, right? Love you and have a great Christmas!

  8. Your poem cheered and made me smile this morning while I was on a ‘grandma tear’ with one of my grandsons. Every time I get stressed of ‘grandma mad” and I listen to the boys i mellow out. Thanks for all you do.

  9. Sorry I made some typing mistakes. Pixie my older kitty insists on sitting in from of the computer and blocking the screen. Good excuse as any.

  10. Awwwwww Marie, that was sweet. But what is this about Marie not biting ??? HMMMM. This was great to read again. Sadly, it makes me think more about the fact that Il Volo is not here (in the USA/Canada) doing a few Christmas Shows. My best to you Marie. You always brighten up the day.

  11. Happy Birthday to you Alice and many healthy ones to come. Marie that was a wonderful poem. It gave me a smile on my face and amazed how you came up with it. It is wonderful and wish this was true. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful Magical New Year.

  12. Gina. I thought my cat Molly was the only cat that did that. When Molly feels neglected, she plunks herself between me and the screen (I have a desk-top computer) and swishes her tail in my face. And, Myron, it makes me sad, too, that Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca didn’t come to the states for a Christmas show. Maybe next year?

    1. Pixie swishes her tail too or she puts her paw on the key board and sometimes rearranges my words. BUT our animal home shelter gives us a lot of joy. Each person moving out seemed to leave an animal.
My husband and I were not blessed with “The Golden Years of Retirement”.

  13. Love to see everyone’s comments!! Marie you did it again. A wonderful poem! Happy Birthday Alice!! Hope it has been a special day for you! 🎂 🎈🎈🎈 💕. My oldest daughter shares your birth date. She is 66 today & I talked to her early this AM to wish her HB in person! She & her husband are IlVolovers also! Have been gone since this morning so have only seen Ignazio singing Memory of the Concert. I pray that next year our guys will have a Christmas Concert here in the USA! Perform a few different areas of the country so we all could see them in person!or have CD signings with the mini concerts!!! We were lucky enough last year to be at the Santa Monica one. So I have been there in front of the stage when they sang a part of their Christmas Show. Fantastic!!! I hope each of our sweethearts has a wonderful Christmas with family!!! 💖 💖 💖 🎄 🎅

  14. OH Marie, that part about ” I calmly stared back” made me laugh out loud because I just KNOW you would be doing anything but CALMLY staring back. Maybe drooling a bit or melting into a bit puddle of goo but not that serene image you want us to believe This pirate didn’t fall off the grog truck yesterday ya know!

  15. Yes Deanne that crossed my mind also.
Good poem Marie OF COURSE you weren’t standing looking at them you fool no one
Marie I saw them singing on December 19th & now this concert thanks by the way for the link. So do you have the link for the December 20th? I’d like to see that also I haven’t been able to find it

  16. Hi ladies, just finished watching our guys concert for the Italian President & Senate. As usual, I couldn’t hold back tears of pride and joy. It was so nice to see them performing live, I have missed them so much. What really struck me was the way they conducted themselves again when the venue dictated, even though I did notice Ignazio during “Surrender” had a hard time curtailing his usual moves. I had to smile. We are so used to him and his antics during that song, that I know it was killing him! But also, in their elegance and more professional mode I couldn’t help but see them in the role of “THE THREE TENORS” performances I have watched. I’ve read some Italian articles lately that have commented that they will become the heir to follow in those footsteps. Who knows? They definitely have that capability. It’s to their credit, that one time they can be all business, and the next time they have girls screaming at every move. As we certainly are aware, they are irristable whatever they do, even just standing there!

Anyway, just keep voting, the one poll (Musiic Online is the only one we have to really work on, but happy to say they have now moved up to 2nd place from 7th.

I hope everyone of you has HAPPY HOLIDAYS, and thank you for your acceptance of my ramblings.

    1. I guess I am not finding the right Italian articles with good and not so good coments. I checked out All About Il VOLO but as I just said, didn’t find anything of expanding interest.

  17. Thank you for the extra holiday cheer. You are truly a gift in yourself!

  18. Marie, this poem is acorable, creative and just too cute for word! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Keep up the great work!

  19. Thanks for the cute poem Marie it was fun to read. But Marie, get into the holidiay spirit of sharing and share Mr. Dipples, please! Yeah I know it’s no, no no….. oh well, I still wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  20. I think that is so cute Maria !! I wish everyone a very healthy merry Christmas !! I enjoy every little thing about our guys ❤️ Thank u all for posting 🎅🎅😘😘

  21. Deanne, I have also been wondering if the Sony disaster would in any way affect our Guys. I am hoping it is just the movie division and not the recording division. Still voting!!

  22. Marie, you’re in true form, keep them coming we love them.
I want to wish all you gals and guy a very Happy Christmas. its been a pleasure meeting so many nice people who like the same things you do, and thanks to three Angels from Heaven who started the whole thing. We will continue to support our boys through thick and thin in the new year because we believe in them, we love them and they are more valuable than gold to us, so any competition will quickly find out where IlVolovers stand.

  23. I just finished watching “Concerto di Natale” from beginning to end. There couldn’t be a more wonderful way to end the evening! I was so proud of Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca. I wanted to reach right into the computer and give them each a hug!
