Personally Speaking~A Matter of Trust ~ By Mary Bohling

Trust: to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you.    Reliance on the integrity, strength and ability of a person.

These words exemplify what Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio must feel for each other.  They have grown so close in their relationships, and had so many experiences in which trust has had to play a part.

But does that trust come into play when getting a haircut is involved?

Piero looks terrified as Ignazio is there with scissors in hand and a gleam in his eye.  Piero is trying to get away…but did he make it?  Did Ignazio succeed in his nefarious plan to give him a crew cut?  Or did his integrity rule as he put down the scissors and laughed at the scare he had given?

Ah, but the tables have turned.  The scissors are in Piero’s hands.  Ignazio seems to be trusting that Piero will do him no harm.  We hope Piero knows what he is doing…Ignazio’s hair can be temperamental, and he does love to throw it about…But if you can’t trust your best friend, who can you trust?

Well, it seems that Ignazio’s trust was well placed…or was it?  The way he is staring at Piero’s head.  Is that a wicked gleam in his eye?  It makes us wonder what devious plan he is hatching now.

These guys make us laugh with their antics, but we know that underneath it all they have very high levels of trust in each other.  It’s a beautiful thing.

  1. Is that Iggy’s girl friend overlooking the procedure? I think she will keep him in line Joanie G

    1. I love your article Mary. The relationship between these guys is fantastic. They may not have been born brothers but they certaily are brothers in every way. They look out for each other and they play tricks on each other. God bless them, they remind me of my own brothers. Keep up the good work.

    2. No Joan that is not Alessandra, it is probably the “real” hairdresser. They are keeping an eye on them. Piero has a different girl there probably his hairdresser. These guys crack me up. When I talked to Barbara at the Chicago concert I told her she must have the best job in the world.

      1. I wonder what Barbara said! Many years ago, I had a job like Barbara and was always being asked by young girls (and boys), how to get a job like that! I had 5 boys to look after and believe me it was hard work! I also had 4 teenaged children and when they were all together it could be chaos! I used to say I was in the wrong place at the wrong time! But I loved them and they me. They’ll be my extra children for ever…..

  2. I love that picture or Piero cutting Ignazio’s hair. First off, Ignazio does not look concerned in the least and Second, Piero, from his stance and expression, truly looks like a hairdresser. All this amuses me.
On the other hand, that third photo dies not show what just occurred. Ignazio has just delivered a resounding punch to the sweet unsuspecting Piero’s upper arm.
Yup, they are brothers through and through!

  3. Love the story and photos, Mary. I agree trust is a must in the business they are in. They are so fortunate to have bonded the way they have.

  4. Elbert Hubbard said : “A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.” Friendship is a special love, and we know, that true friend is hard to find. So when you do find one, hang on tight ! 🙂 It also doesn’t hurt to let friends know every now and then just how much they mean to you. Il Volo know how important this is and they do it often . 🙂 Helen Keller said :”I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.” Elie Wiesel said :”Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession, friendship is never anything but sharing.” And what said William Shakespeare about friendship ? “A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.” 🙂 Oscar Wilde said : “Anybody can sympathise with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathise with a friend’s success.” (so true, my own experience) Albert Camus : “Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” ( I agree.) Aristotle said : “A friend to all is a friend to none.” My favourite quote is this , from Waqar Ahmed :”Friendship is delicate as a glass, once broken it can be fixed but there will always be cracks.” And wise words by Socrates : “Be slow to fall into friendship, but when you are in, continue firm and constant.”
A friend who understands your tears is much more valuable than a lot of friends who only know your smile.A strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation or being together. As long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends never part. I believe that Il Volo friendship will be eternal, always full of love, respect, confidence, understanding and with freedom to be always yourself. Letting a person be what he/she really is, that is real love ! 🙂
