  1. Thank you, Myron. I’m happy this has happened. I thought I was an Il Volo snob and that no one could hold a candle to our guys much less think they were good enough to actually sing with them, exception being Placido Domingo, but I really enjoyed this foursome! I too hope they sing together again. I did notice our young gentlemen working to blend and not overshadow Jackie. Good job all!

  2. Wonderful post, Myron. Finally a female singer whose voice blends so beautifully with theirs. Pure joy to listen to. My only regret is that it ended too soon. I could have listened to them together all day!

  3. Totally agree, the voices of boys melted very well with Jackie voice without ever obscuring it.
It was also a really nice picture to see, four beautiful to talented artists who spread marvelous notes, what we can have more?

      1. Thanks Lydka, I read with much pleasure, it is true that the reason GRANDE AMORE not get tired, never. I had not read it yet, I thank you for letting me know. In addition, the first person who commented on this article below the bottom is Maura Pucci, she follows everything that is posted on the Crew and also Marie and Jane were able indirectly to know her.
We are here because we are all euphoric Sunday evening there will be House Party with IL VOLO.
I wish you a beautiful week before Christmas full of many beautiful things.
        A kiss

  4. Amazingly beautiful. I like her voice now than I used to. They all sound beautiful together & I so loved the blend of their voices with hers. Tremendously beautiful of course its IL VOLO

    1. they have it at Barnes & Noble also… you may recall the post we did while Marie was in Italy, featuring Jackie’s new cd and its release the next day? 🙂 Someone also said they heard the song on the radio! Call your local stations and request it!

  5. Thanks, Myron, I said the same thing about the guys and Barbra! I’m learning from the master!Grazie!!

  6. I was so excited prior to the show and could hardly wait for them to be introduced. The guys have appeared on the today show several times long ago. They really took good care not to drown jackie’s voice since her voice is so soft. Love how Gianluca holds her back a few times. He is so sweet. Can’t wait until the 23rd to see them again by themselves on this show. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE? STAY SAFE.

  7. Myron, I’ve been waiting for this for so long! Jackie is from my home town in Pittsburgh and I was wowed by her on Americas Got Talent. Then I discovered Il My two favorites together. This was my Christmas present! Hope they do more.

  8. I want to wish a great Christmas and New Year to everyone on this site, to the folks at Il Volo Management and – – – – – – – – – – – to OUR BOYS !!!

  9. Enjoyed your comments Myron, Our boys are so thoughtful, they could easily have drowned out Jackie, but they did a beautiful job and took care of her. I’m thinking they have already taped the music for the 23rd of December. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it might be Mater Misericordiae. Probably not.
Merry Christmas to everyone who enjoys The Flight Crew as much as I do. Feliz Navidad. Buon Natale, Kala Hristougenna.

    1. Thank you, Myron!
I’m with you, Rose Marie… LOVE Ave Maria Mater Misericordiae!

Wonderful for their trained voices to blend. The sweetness together is precious!

      Joyous holidays to all,
      Jeanine

  10. As always Myron, you nailed it perfectly… Jackie has a beautiful voice that blends well with our guys as you stated… I too noticed that our guys showed their kindness and respect to Jackie… They downsized their voices without losing any sound, strength or passion… A true quality of a professional.. In this case three professionals… They just give so much of themselves to every performance… And yet they allowed her to show the beauty of her voice … They are three classy guys with a heart of gold, a passion for music and they share their love with everyone… They are our boys and we will forever love them, and that is exactly why we do.

  11. Jeannette, you nailed their performance with your words, they showed
kindness and respect, downsized their voices but still with strength and
passion, they gave of themselves, allowed her to show the beauty of
her voice and as a final tribute “They are three classy guys with a
heart of gold, a passion for music and they share their love with
everyone.” I love your expressions of appreciation and I know you
have met them personally so you know first hand their love and
passion is of a sincere nature. I thank you and Merry Christmas.

  12. As much as I hate winter I hope every one on this site has a warm & family oriented Christmas also to Barbara Vitaly & Il Volo management. And especially our precious young men who I hope they can spend quality time with family & get a chance to rest up. Looking forward to seeing you in Detroit guys hope Santa is good to you all.

  13. yes, love the performance too. When Piero started to sing, I thought it was rather loud, so am glad they toned it down a bit. At the end, Kathie or the other one was trying to read the cue cards or something and said, “wait until I get the tears out of my eyes.” As I sat here watching it taped last night, I realized in that moment, that I, too, had tears in my eyes! It was gorgeous! 🙂 Three months from today they will be back in Detroit! Poor guys, will barely have 2 months off and they will be back in the States again! Lucky us!

  14. Quality ? Where does it come from ? Aside from the gorgeous natural instrument that each guy was born with, the professional voice lessons and vocal coaching have always been what sets Il Volo apart from 98% of the “run-of-the-mill” pop singers.

It would be so easy for these guys to skip all that work and just do below average pop music and rely on their good looks. That is what so many do. But these guys keep raising the standards. Bravo to Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero .

  15. Happy Holidays to everyone here and to our guys and their team. May the new year be filled with peace. I know it will be filled with beautiful music thanks to Il Volo. Now off for another piece of our first pannettone of the season….

  16. Thanks, Myron. I agree, too. It helps their ‘mission’ that Jackie is also a young person and who sings their genre of music beautifully. Yes: Il Volo , with or without Jackie, needs to be on U.S. TV more often since the radio stations ignore them here.

  17. I know this is not timely of me but I just got my computer back! so forgive me as I go backwards.I wish I could tell you how much I loved the song ” Little Drummer Boy” Actually I think its an insipid Christmas song that isn’t worth IL VOLO’s time and talent. However being the talented men they are, they made it sound alright.
My other beef right now is with whomever is doing PR for IL VOLO I wish t hat person would STEP IT UP! This is what, the second time they have been on the TODAY show and all they get to do is sing one song and put up with some fumbled chat from those two dames. What about Good Morning America? Why aren’t they are any of the Late Night shows? Why do American shows never truly talk with them???? I know some of us wonder why they don’t seem to have more connection with American audiences, well thank God that PBS tries to showcase them and actually TALK to them! No one else ever seems to talk to them besides trying to fumble their names!
PS. Yes I am a rotten Pirate with Sciatica but I have one more gripe to air…Who decided IL Volo and that lovely girl should perform in an Airport??? What a sad little showcase that was!
Now if only I could get that damm parrot Igor to quit singng that dang song! I’ll rummmpapaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa his little drum!

    1. Welcome back you funny, peg legged, sciatica plagued, pirate dame. I have the same questions and agree with everything you said.

      Oh…Hi Igor, missed you too.

  18. Pirate, good for you. Tell it like you see it. I personally don’t watch the Today show especially that 10 – 11 spot. Those 2 women couldn’t interview themselves out of a paper bag. Airport? Really? No appearances on any late night shows? Really? Only Spanish speaking shows? I agree with you on everything but, I like Little Drummer Boy. Happy New Year.

    1. They need to be guests on a show like the tonight show where the guests sit down and chat for at least 20 minutes or more. Or how about that show a few years back (I can’t think of the name of it–senior moment!) where they were cooking with the hostess and Ignazio and Piero did the throw the grape in the mouth trick.
They talked, they laughed, they cooked and everyone had a great time! They even sang!

      1. There was another one–unless it was the same one–where they were singing outside to a group sitting in chairs sort of on a porch. Was that the same program? That show was terrific.
And I think you are right about the word “family.”

  19. Jackie Evancho never had a strong voice, more delicate, but as I remember, Piero’s voice in the 2011 Detroit PBS special was not as developed as it is today.

  20. Dear Myron, dear all, I don’t know where else to start this discussion so I will post it here and would be happy to read your opinions.
I would like to bring your attention to their perfect pronunciation when all the three of them perform in English. I must say that I had never, never heard a singer, of any nationality, sing with such perfect pronunciation, accent, intonation and fluency in a foreign language. I grew up in France and England so I can be considered a native speaker in both languages, and I’ve taught linguistics and foreign languages in schools and universities for over 20 years, so as a linguist I have always been aware that one can never get rid of his/her native accent unless he/she grows up in the country from a very young age. This has to do with the way the brain works. Research has shown that children’s brains are developmentally ready to accept and learn a foreign language, and fluency comes easily, rapidly, and without accent. Between ages 8 and 12, a child loses the ability to hear and reproduce new sounds as they did when they were younger. That’s why I was truly astonished when I heard them sing in English. The amazing thing is that they have an Italian accent when they speak but not when they sing. A Spanish friend has told me that they sound native when they sing in Spanish as well. This calls for a case study! But it also shows how much work and proficiency they put into their craft.
