I’m still stunned by all the beauty I saw last night.
A stratospheric concert, wonderful voices, rested and powerful, beautiful music, spectacular sets, all like a fairy tale.
It was not a “Magic Night”, it was a “Starry Night”, because Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are three stars that shine with a wonderful light, and when they are combined the result is simply spectacular.
Three beautiful and elegant young men bewitched and delighted the whole audience.
In my ears I still have their beautiful voices and my eyes still see everything that last night was unique and unforgettable.
I tell you right away that they did not allow us to enter the Arena with the camera, so I could not take videos or beautiful photos, I could only use my mobile.
But RAI1 has re-taken everything (filmed it all) and who better than them? I hope you all can see it as it will be a truly rewarding experience.
Click the photo below to view the concert.
There were 23 beautiful songs, some already known because they are part of the repertoire of Il Volo and many new for us and one completely unpublished.
Now let’s go over with some nice fan videos (not done by me), and some of my comments.
The preview begins with a joke with Marco Giallini, where Ignazio jokes saying that his shoes are very bad and Giallini tells him that he took them out of wood !!
Click the photo below to view the Anteprima.
The start was truly overwhelming with “The Ecstasy of Gold – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Wonder!! A spectacular start !!
THE ECSTASY OF GOLD. THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
Then they sang a beautiful YOUR LOVE, from the film Once Upon a Time in the West.
and then, remembering Notte Magica of 2017, NESSUN DORMA.
At this point a beautiful Italian actress enters: Laura Chiatti, whom Piero and Gianluca call “muse” and whom Ignazio calls “picciotta” (in Sicilian: young girl)
So a good pop song, also set to music by Morricone: SE TELEFONANDO.
The show continues with the introduction of IL MONDO, halfway through the song a guest enters, a famous Italian singer-songwriter (he also wrote Notre Dame De Paris): Riccardo Cocciante.
Then he will sing one of his songs to music by Morricone: “When a Love Ends”.
It starts again with another music from the film, NUOVO CINEMA PARADISO, at the end of the song there will be a small exchange between our kids and Salvatore Cascio, the child, now adult, of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.
Two other guests, Raphael Gualazzi on the piano and Nina Zilli, who together with Il Volo perform the beautiful song from the film METTI UNA SERA A CENA.
Something from the repertoire of our boys, but which we always listen to very willingly:
O SOLE MIO and GRANDE AMORE
Back to Morricone’s film music:
SACCO E VANZETTI, preceded by a reading of the story of the two unfortunate Italian immigrants, read by Giallini.
While Giallini was reading the story, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca went down the corridors among the audience, to sing from that position. Piero was in the central corridor, just that close to me. I want to describe what I saw and that made me extremely happy.
Piero was in the corridor, but further ahead of my seat (farther from the stage) and I had to turn around to see him, he was with his back to me. RAI was in front of Piero for the video shoot, but at that moment Piero was not filmed.
He was hot, he was sweating and an assistant came over to wipe his forehead and then walked away from him. At that moment two elderly people, who had perhaps gone to the bathroom, were returning to their seats, which were right next to where Piero was. The man was old, large, and walked laboriously with a cane, supported by his wife. It was clear that if the TV shooting started, they were right in the middle, so Piero, who was already ready, began to call the assistant in a low voice to tell him to solve the situation, but that assistant was far away and did not hear and therefore Piero, seeing that the man was having a hard time getting into his seat, he went to him, held his seat in place, and helped him to and enter his row.
Despite the live TV, Piero was kind and thoughtful to this person, I don’t know how many artists would have done the same. Very good Piero !!
After Sacco and Vanzetti, they sang E PIÙ TI PENSO from Once Upon a time in America.
We are at the moment of the three beautiful singles.
Gianluca begins who amazes us with a beautiful song by Elton John written 51 years ago: YOUR SONG.
Gianluca dedicates the song to his mother.
Piero continues with the beautiful NO PUEDE SER accompanied by the flutist Andrea Griminelli.
And so Ignazio concludes with a wonderful LISTEN performed in the company of Julian Iorio who is only 8 years old.
A little, sweet interview with Julian at the end of the song.
I = Julian, you have been very good, but how old are you?
J = Thanks. 8 and a half years.
I = And where are you from?
J = From Fregene (locality near Rome)
I = Are you passionate about music?
J = A lot.
I = Where do you go after the concert?
J = I don’t know.
I = Aren’t you going home?
J = Yes, I’m going home. Tomorrow I wake up, make the trip and go home.
I = But in how many hours?
J = When we arrived it took us 6 hours, and I don’t know to go back.
I = Sure, it depends on the traffic, (laughter) Thanks a lot !!
J = You’re welcome.
I = Julian Iorio
Let’s go back to film music and continue with the beautiful GABRIEL’S OBOE, taken from MISSION.
And now a song that is part of our boys NEL BLU DIPINTO DI BLU.
In the middle of the song, when the boys descended into the audience, Ignazio approached his mother and gave her a kiss on the forehead. ❤
At this moment Piero was close to me doing the high pitch, you can see me sitting next to Piero, wearing an electric blue jacket. I made the photo, Piero, Ignazio were really close.
Below, Il Volo performs UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE and MY WAY.
A beautiful unpublished song follows, an absolute first, I like it very much and I really hope to hear it many times, written by Andrea Morricone, I COLORI DELL’AMORE:
We have reached the end of the concert.
The song with which it all ends is taken from the opera La Traviata: LIBIAM DE LIETI CALICI.
And so the concert ends, but before leaving us the boys tell us that after the finale there will be a surprise.
In fact after the applause Il Volo returns and makes a beautiful and moving dedication.
It is a very touching moment, because Ignazio begins by dedicating the song to all those who in this long period have lost so many loved ones.
Piero goes on to say that this concert was dedicated to Vito Boschetto who they all miss a lot. After the announcement was made, you could see Gianluca and Piero biting at their lips trying to hold back their emotions for their dear friend, Ignazio. There are some very touching moments of support and hug to Ignazio by Piero and Gianluca. Really very moving.
Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca perform CONRADIANA a beautiful song written by Bocelli and Morricone.
Thunderous applause and standing ovations.
The concert is over and the TV shoot is over.
Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio greet us and leave the stage.
People don’t go away, everyone stands all ahead, everyone murmurs BIS (BIS means we still want a song) and so the boys come back and, just for us, audience, they perform THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY, taking off their jackets and saying goodbye for the last time. A short piece.
A memorable evening.
Perfect performances, formidable guys and full of affectionate gestures towards each other.
Incredible.
Both live and home audiences poured out all the love for these young men.
It goes without saying that the concert in RAI had the highest ratings.
For now, the comments of the press are few (today is Sunday) but good.
I want to conclude with a beautiful comment by a well-known Italian singer Rita Pavone.
Yesterday I saw the concert of the Tribute to Ennio Morricone aside of IL VOLO. Well, folks, there’s none for anyone! (This expression means that they are the best and there is none better than them!) Those three guys are sensational, they’re great. They face lyrical and pop arias, two worlds light years away, with a totally different setting and register voice but managing to be just as credible as to leave the listener amazed.
The “Listen” by Ignazio Boschetto, with the contribution of the very talented Julian – it is really true that talents are born! An 8 year old boy who plays the sax like a new John Coltrane but with the look and grit of a Lisa Simpson -, he was a real punch in the stomach for all those, myself included, who would never have imagined how much soul there is in that voice. I knew instead of this vocal duplicity in Gianluca Ginoble, because I had already had the opportunity to listen to him some time ago in some pop songs, but his version of “Your Song” last night was so beautiful that if there had been Elton John in the room, he would be the first to stand up and applaud. The opera singer par excellence, on the other hand, remains Piero Barone, whose ease in taking the highest notes and the most difficult treble notes is for him like drinking a glass of water.
What to say ? That we just have to be proud of having similar talents who bear the name of Italy in the world. And whoever says the opposite either does not understand anything about music, or is in bad faith, or is envious.
I know that in this project, the choices were completely made by our three treasures. This shows their artistic maturity, as well as physical – they are young but with a lot of common sense and good taste !! But we already knew it!
I was there, it was unforgettable: Daniela ❤❤❤
Here are some of my photos.

Thank you, Daniela. Now I can watch the Rai replay knowing what the songs were and their significance. Those of us who don’t know Italian certainly lost a good bit of the concert but watching and hearing them is more than enough!!
Actually Roxanne, in this post I have not translated all the speeches of the boys because I was not sure that everyone could see the full video of the Rai 1 concert, so I have attached other fan made videos. The post became too long and I decided to just describe what I saw and postpone the various translations in a later post.
There will be a lot to talk about after this great concert!
A wonderful and heartfelt article that confirms what millions of fans know already…Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero are the consummated performers of all Times!!….Thank you, Daniela for sharing your article, videos and pictures, very appreciated……Grazie Mille!!
Thanks Maria, it was really beautiful, I will write you many more details soon.
Thank you for sharing. I am in US and could not see it, but certainly want to. I will try to get the RAI replay. The pictures are wonderful!
Beverly, we have attached both, both the RAI link and the fan made videos, so we are sure that in one way or another everyone can see the concert, but certainly the RAI video is wonderful for the total overview of the event.
Oh, how sweet of our Piero!! It’s moments like those that make us appreciate the guys for the sweet and caring persons they are! It’s those things that are never known or written. Thanks for letting us know. How wonderful to be that close to him. I am surprised they were so hot. I thought the temperature was a cool evening, like in Sept 2019 when we were there. I know Lorna and I were freddo!! 😉
Beautiful pictures! I love the one you took that was before the concert!
Ciao amica!
Yes Jana, Piero was a treasure, he tried in vain to call the assistant back, but then he acted, also risking that the RAI shooting would start and he was not in his place, his gesture really generous, I was impressed.
Even the kiss that Ignazio went to give his mother was not filmed on video, but I was just a few rows behind them and I saw it.
Damn, if they let me keep my camera …. I was in an absolutely perfect place.
Daniela, waiting for your report and all the pictures and highlights of your evening was like waiting for Christmas morning as a kid. You gave us so much to see and hear and I’m glad you were lucky to be there, so that you could give us, too far away, a good feel for the experience. “Your Song” by Elton John and sung by Gianluca was the last song the orchestra played at my college senior ball. Really touching for me! Thank you. How close to the stage were you? What is the media reaction so far? I will be going over this post many times!
Mark, what a really nice thing you wrote.
I’m glad YOUR SONG reminded you of good times, Gianluca was very good at singing it. I was really close to the stage, from my photos at the bottom you realize that there was little space between me and them, I was right in the middle row will be about 20 meters. Fantastic concert.
So much gratitude to you Daniela, of your documenting
this historical event for all of us. I felt like I was there.
Many of the clips were up on U-tube by 6 pm here in
the West, but you added the “magic”. You added the
human moments like Piero’s assisting the older folks.
and Igna kissing his mom. Powerful emotions were
shown throughout (Vito). So happy and proud for Italy
in their support of the arts and allowing The Flight
to fly.
Thanks Martha, I also looked for the clips today, because the videos made with my mobile were not beautiful, so I chose these, but I have many other things to tell, there will be other posts, this concert deserves to talk at length.
Thank you Daniela and Pat! This is such a beautiful article. I feel like I could have been sitting right there with you. Their concerts in their homeland in those classic venues are simply breathtaking. I can only imagine the joy you must have felt to be hearing those magnificent voices and seeing them perform in person once again.
To read how Piero assisted the older gentleman and Ignazio went to kiss his Mother, just reminds us of what we have known about these young men from watching them since they were young boys. Whether they are on a world stage or in a small group setting, they are genuinely kind, respectful young men…which makes you love them all the more.
You’re most welcome, Jane. Daniela sure did make us feel like we were there!
Dearest Jane, it was a magnificent concert and I hope they bring all of this to you too. I was so entranced by their voices, the songs were, one more beautiful than the other.
They are polite and lovely young men.
Daniela and Pat. Oh so good. Yes, I think we will be talking and looking and listening for a long time as the whole program was spectacular. One I know I will watch again and again. I’ll be so happy when the DVD and CD come to the USA for sale, As usual, you have done so much for us.
Yesterday’s concert will give us all a lot to talk about for quite some time! Glad you liked the post. 😊
Kay, give me your industry expert opinion. Their voices were very powerful, surely the long rest did them good.
I also look forward to their CD with joy.
Thank you so very much for posting! I tried in vain to watch from the US.
Then we are very happy to have helped you Susan, I hope you enjoyed the good concert.
Daniela, I want to write more to you later, but I think you’re in bed now. But wanted to tell the others checking in that although I couldn’t get anything through the RAI link, even with my Twitter account, I saw at least 6 of the songs last night at 10:30 on YouTube!! And yes, it was brilliant, genius, just thrilling!!
Judi, try this link:
https://www.raiplay.it/video/2021/06/Il-Volo-Tributo-a-Ennio-Morricone-1f871e62-56f4-4de5-bc32-b2611e26bd8a.html
The concert is viewable now on the RAI website as a replay video. I can see it and I think everyone can now.
Thank you SO MUCH for the link. I live in Woodstock, GA and the link worked for me. What a delightful evening. They are awesome!!! I enjoyed every minute of the concert. Thanks again for the link.
I’m glad I could help, Karen!
Yes Judi, the fan made videos are very beautiful, but the RAI video actually gives the total vision, and it is all extremely beautiful and cared for.
It was a wonderful evening.
Daniela
Thank you for all your work and sharing!!!
Thanks to you Alessandra, I’m glad you liked it.
Thank you Daniela. It was good to see the concert without all the RAI commentary. I wouldn’t have liked it even if I understood it.
Gail, you will see that you will like it instead, read all the details that I will write to you.
Hi Daniela, I’m not sure what you were referring to.
What I commented on was that RAI personnel talked constantly except when our boys were singing. We couldn’t hear anything else that was said onstage. Even though I don’t speak Italian I always try to pick up on words that I might understand, sometimes googling them.
It’s a good exercise for an aging brain.
Thanks again for all the work you put in.
I was just listening to YOUR LOVE again. The sacrifices Vito Boshetto made for Ignacio’s career helped to make IL Volo possible, a gift for all of us.
Gail, I just meant that you will also enjoy reading the further details I will write about the concert.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
There will still be so much to read, Linda.
Thank you Daniela and Pat for bringing the concert to us. What a fabulous evening ,the Guys were in top form and it was so wonderful to see and hear them again at last.. Ignazio has certainly become more vocal as at the beginning a few years ago he was always quiet and didn’t say a great deal, when they were interviewed. Now I think he has more confidence. Great to see them all and now I will watch the concert again, thanks to you both.
So glad Il Volo en clase filmed it. It was glorious, s spiritual experience! Love them So! Noticed Ignazio
was missing his chest hair! A manscape I’m guessing!😁😁😁❤❤❤❤
Linda, I told my dear friend Carmen, Il Volo en Clase administrator, that you saw the concert she posted, and she was happy to have helped you in the vision.
You’re right, Ignazio shaved off and finally thinned out his long beard too.
You’re welcome, Marlon!
Marion, the guys were really at the top, excellent vocal and physical form, Ignazio needs to regain some weight, but not too much.
Thankyou Daniela for the beautiful videos, pictures and the extra details that we would not have known about. It is so nice to hear from someone who was there. The concert was beautiful and I don’t think I have the words to describe the boys performance. Every one seems to be better if that is possible. Their choice of songs was perfect. The tribute to Vito was so moving. I noticed when they Your Love Ignazio kept touching his dad’s ring and when he sang his solo part on this song and the last song Gianluca kept watching him. They are always looking out for each other. They are amazing young men. Thoughtful, genuine and giving. I will watch this again and again.
Yes, Cathy, the choice of songs was perfect, that’s why I wrote that our boys have good taste, because this time they chose all of them. And the details you said, Ignazio’s caressed ring, Piero so kind, Gianluca’s emotion, are indescribable and make them even more special.
Yes, they are really like three brothers.
Thank you Daniela, Pat and to Jana for helping with the link to watch the concert live. To my son Paul for being here to help his mother muddle through getting the VPN. I was able to watch it live. It was a very emotional evening, happy and also sad. Our young lions are back, and where they belong, on stage in front of an audience that showered them with love and respect for their talent and humanity. We love them more today than yesterday. Can’t wait for them to come back to us here in the USA.
You’re welcome, Rose Marie! I’m glad your son could help you. It was very emotional for me as well.
I’m happy RoseMarie, you were able to follow at least part of the live broadcast.
Sure RoseMarie, you were supposed to be here, this show was unforgettable.
Our three lions roar very loud.
Thank you all for keeping us informed about the concert, how to see it here in the U.S. and for your work in helping support Il Volo. It brought tears to my eyes to see them performing on stage with an audience. They are such wonderful young men who deserve every accolade they get. Their hard work, talent and humility is so amazing. Thank you again.
We are happy to help, Karen. The concert had me smiling one minute and crying the next. It was a very emotional concert, for everyone! The guys just keep getting better, don’t they. You can also view the RAI replay of the concert here:
https://www.raiplay.it/video/2021/06/Il-Volo-Tributo-a-Ennio-Morricone-1f871e62-56f4-4de5-bc32-b2611e26bd8a.html
Karen, they work hard, it is undeniable and the results are evident. They deserve all the respect for this hard work.
Daniela, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the link .. at least yours worked for us .. although we’d obtained the Rai1 channel on our tv but, horrors, we hadn’t realized it should have been RaiHD !! Needless to say last night we spent hours trying to get it on our phone another way and sort of did it but didn’t manage to see everything. Now
though, thanks to you, we’ve seen it once today and will again tonight via our laptop to the tv. I have never seen them look more handsome than last night, and their voices were phenomenal of course. I spent many minutes in tears because the concert was just so beautiful. To have been there, just as you were, would have been my biggest dream come true!! One day (next year) I hope we will make it from Canada 💞
Shirley, after so much trying, at least our link has satisfied you with the wait, and it was a good sight, right?
It was all perfect and I hope the concerts that come to you are just as good.
Elisa Marie
Daniela, you gave us a magnificent gift–your concert review and photos were spectacular. I felt as though I was there because you painted a beautiful picture of the music, the stage, the maestros, the chorus, as well as the emotions, and the love in the Verona Arena last night. I was able to see the concert on YouTube today–Sunday. It transported me to “heaven on earth” for two-plus hours. I will watch again in the days to come.
There is, as you said, so much to discus, to express our feelings about the many special moments, the guests, the 81/2 year old sax player who was so talented and adorable.
Our guys performed every song with their usual golden, silk voices, their affectionate gestures. They are the most personable artists who steal our hearts away with their talent and charming personalities. They perform Pop opera, Classical opera, Jazz, popular American songs–they are so versatile.
When Gianluca sang Elton John”s “Your Song,” and dedicated it to his Mom who was in the audience, it touched me so deeply and I had tears of joy for his love for his Mom.
I sobbed when Piero paid tribute to Ignazio’s Father who passed away last February. I saw Ignazio’s tears that he tried to hold back by keeping his eyes closed. These three guys are sentimental, kind, generous, humble and dedicated to each other, their families, friends and to us their fans. We love them.
Daniela, you looked lovely. You’re beautiful on the outside and inside with a big, caring heart. Grazie mille.
Also, thanks to Pat and Jana for their posts, pictures, etc.
i WILL BE READING THE FUTURE POSTS TO SEE EVERYONE’S
COMMENTS.. IF THE ITALIAN PRESS DOESN’T GIVE GREAT REVIEWS FOR IL VOLO AND THIS CONCERT, THEN THEY ARE PAZZO AND PAZZA!–MALE OR FEMALE MUSIC COMMENTATORS FOR THE PRESS.
Ciao for now,
Elisa Marie
You’re welcome, Elisa. I also shed tears a few times during the concert at those touching moments. I agree, Daniela looked lovely last night. She is a treasure!
Pat, you make me blush !! 🙂
Thanks Elisa, I’m happy to have given you a nice review, but more detailed ones will come, now our aim was for everyone to see the whole concert, the details will come later.
Thanks for the many compliments.
Thank you Daniela for sharing your experience. I was not able to watch it live but saw the whole concert I. IL Volo en Clase. Now it’s in IL Volo Sicilia. Looking forward for more firsthand observations from you. Love Gianluca’s solo. He has such a beautiful voice. Though Piero is my favorite. I am concerned about Ignazio though. Hope they all take care of their voices, truly a God given talent.
Sonia, my friend Carmen (Il Volo En Clase) published the whole concert, but she hopes that RAI does not obscure it, for now it has not happened!
Piero has passed close to me several times, the boys are in excellent shape, Ignazio is also much better.
Once again, thanks Daniela for a beautiful presentation adding context for us non Italian speakers. I was able to make my vpn work (1 1/2 hours of effort searching finally paid off) and watched the concert live. Beautiful photography and a beautiful setting. Piero’s solo was his best yet, Gianluca really scored with his new solo and Ignazio charmed us with his saxophone buddy. I’ve witnessed in person their graciousness towards fans so Piero’s kindness was no surprise; how stressed he must have been wanting to help the elderly man and also to make his mark. I will be interested too in what the actor from Cinema Paradiso had to say; one of my favorite movies and he was so cute in it. Many touching moments I and I can’t wait to view it again!
Sara, Cinema Paradiso is a film that always moves me, so sweet.
Salvatore Cascio spoke about his relationship with Philippe Noiret (main actor) and the director Giuseppe Tornatore (director). You will soon read, what was said.
Can’t wait for the translation when you are rested and come down off Cloud Nine! When I was in Cefalù, they said it was filmed there. True?
Yes, Sally, it’s true it was also filmed in Cefalù and also in Bagheria and other places.
Thank you for sharing. I always love your post.❤️—there’s not much information about boys in Taiwan.
And we are happy that our translations and words reach Taiwan. Thanks to you Pivanessa.
Thanks so much Daniela! Loved every word of your translation! Thanks also for the link to watch it all! So happy to see and hear these young men perform at the first concert in a very long time!! Hope this is just the beginning! 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍🎶🎶🇨🇦
Linda, we all hope this was just the beginning, after such a long time, a truly explosive start.
Thanks for the compliments to the translations.
Daniela! Grazie. I am emotional from 4000 miles away watching on my computer! I cannot imagine the electricity of being in the Arena! Who but i ragazzi could sing the subtleties, emotions and grandeur of Maestro Morricone’s compositions?! The guys are each one brilliant and together, as you say, simply spectacular!!! However, caro Piero tonight shared more of his romantic tone along with his powerful sexy voice and truly wowed me! The Mission is a movie that has stayed in my head and my gut for all of these years. Piero’s singing in Gabriel’s Oboe brought me back to the emotions of the movie as if it were yesterday! Thank you for sharing your experience, your feelings, the moments off camera and of course The Concert. I want to download every song right now!!! Grazie Daniela, grazie mille♡♡♡
The Arena was electric and spectacular, and the best concert for a “new beginning”.
Everything was perfect.
Gabriel’s Oboe is really touching, and the guys know very well how to play certain music. Fantastic.
I think every song on this concert was incredible.
Thanks for the compliments, Karen.
I’m so glad the vpn worked for those that gave it a try! We actually had a bit of difficulty as it seemed to be delayed here, so we ended up missing about 4 songs, but were able to see the rest!
I was also glad to see igna having some fun with piero. 😄 they truly looked like they were enjoying themselves!
Jana, with your releases on the links to follow, you were the icing on the cake, for many, thank you.
The emotion of the boys was palpable, but I must say that they also enjoyed themselves.
There was no cold in the Arena, an optimal temperature, after the afternoon heat.
I am so grateful for the recording you provided. I was unable to see the video or hear the radio live, as Italy blocked the transmission to anyone outside of Italy (at least, that is the message that was posted on RAI). I work for an Italian company, and even my coworkers in Italy tried to send me a recording of the concert today, but RAI blocked their upload. So your recording was all I had access to. Bless you!
Marilyn, it was what I was afraid of, that RAI would block all possibilities of seeing the concert abroad. Fortunately, this is not the case for now.
I’m glad I was helpful.
Thank you Daniela for the really quick notes on your experience at the concert. You did make us feel like we were there. I tried to connect to Rai1 on my computer and it was blocked. Then after trying a few other links as a last resort I tried Rai1 on my phone and it connected perfectly. So I was able to see the last 1 1/2 hours live and filled in the start of the concert with fans videos. It was a magnificent concert, their individual voices better than ever and their harmonies perfect. It must have been magic sitting in the Arena so close to them. Piero posted “day after the concert” thoughts today and said it was like going on stage for the very first time with legs shaking. Guess they were nervous but they did not show it. I marvel at all the new tunes and lyrics they had to master and they were performed perfectly. I love the way they watch each other appreciatively when one is singing a solo. I was so touched watching Igna touch and rub his father’s ring as they sang “Your Love” probably thinking of his dad. I have watched the videos several times and cannot get enough. I look forward to your future posts with some translations and observations. Thanks Pat and Daniela.
My pleasure, Janet! You can also now watch the replay of the concert on the RAI website. Click on the photo at the beginning of this post or use the link I have put in a couple replies here. Enjoy!
Janet, it was such a shame that you and your husband weren’t in the Arena. Unforgettable concert.
All memorable.
The new music and lyrics are of a rare beauty and just as beautiful and talented are our young elegant men.
Concert to be reviewed over and over again.
Oh Daniela we wished too so much to be in the audience and to be able to greet you and the other Flight Crew there. Also we fell in love with Verona. Beautiful and very walkable city. Hopefully next year in Taormina! I just rewatched the concert video and when they were singing Volare they went into the audience and it is on film that Igna kisses a woman in the front row on her forehead. looking carefully I believe it is Nina that he kisses and his mom is sitting 2 seats away. I also spotted Mr Barone in the front row. I imagine the families were up close to the stage.
Yes, you’re right Janet, it’s Nina, and not Mom.
All the parents of the boys were in the front row.
You had to be there.
Daniela, darling! I’ve been waiting so long for your comment! Thank you. I watched the concert and didn’t sleep all night. Very emotional! The feelings for our boys are the same. They are so wise and deep souls. The fact that they dedicated their concert to Vito made me cry! Inya’s kiss to Katerina also touched me deeply! My eyes are full of tears of joy and emotion. Thank you again for the translation. I don’t always understand something, but I feel it with my heart! Il Volo are our favorites !!! I send them love and empathy! I get 1000% love and emotion! I expect new materials. With love and gratitude.🖤💚💜.
Antonela, but how much our boys move us, but how good they are and how beautiful they are.
These are not qualities that all artists have, the three of them all have them, what luck for us.
I’ll send the details soon too.
Dear Daniela
Thank you so much for getting us the information on the concert so soon. You must be exhausted!
I did see some videos on YouTube, but will watch the whole concert on the link Pat sent us( thanks Pat)
I did notice in the photos that Ignazio is really skinny, I assume it’s from the grief of losing his father. I’m sure his Dad was there watching over him, and feeling so proud of his son.
You’re welcome, Jill!
Dear Jill, what wonderful things I have seen and heard.
I hope when I tell you the details, to be able to share with you all the beauty that has surrounded me.
Ignazio needs to recover a few pounds, but he is in excellent shape and was happy, as were Gianluca and Piero.
Thank you for this beautiful report, so quick. Great job Daniela and Pat. The concert was beautiful and really magic. You are lucky that you could be there and we are lucky to have you and happy that you share these wonderful emotions with us. Grazie con tutto il cuore
You’re most welcome, Jolanta! Daniela worked at the speed of light and I just tried to keep up with her! I commented before that I think that concert was the second Notte Magica! 😀❤️
I slept shortly after the beautiful concert, as soon as I woke up I wanted to see the whole concert broadcast by RAI, because the vision is different from what you have in the presence, it is much more panoramic. Right after lunch I started writing the whole review and I didn’t leave until I finished. I was tired but I sent everything to Pat who worked it right away and so, together we were able to give you immediately, what you were patiently waiting for. Now the details will come.
Dear Daniela
I am Susan DeBartoli’s cousin your article was just amazing read and listened to everything you wrote thank you for sharing it with all your Il Volvo fans
Jenny
Hello Jenny and thank you for your comment! Daniela did an excellent job of telling all of us what she experienced at the concert.
Hi Jenny, Susan’s cousin, I am very pleased that you also enjoyed the great concert and thanks for the compliments !!.
Along with everyone else, I can’t thank you (Daniela and Patti) enough for your speedy report on the concert. Just reading the comments, I have tears in my eyes, without even looking at any of the videos yet! I wasn’t able to link into the RAI screening, being in Ontario, Canada. But, knew that “my girls” would come through with videos of “my boys”!! Getting very possessive of such wonderful people. Will now go to the link and be ready with my box of tissues to watch it! Thanks, again from Canada.
You’re welcome! I was also in tears and also smiling while watching the concert. I am in awe as I watch our guys perform!
DeeBee, how could we leave you without telling you anything about this beautiful event? Impossible! I’ve brought you all with me, and you’ll be reading the details soon.
Enjoy the show !!
Thanks a million, Daniela. Your post soothes the regret from our not being there in Verona. The concert proved what I expected, that despite the long break, Il Volo lost nothing of its power, immense talent, charisma and ability to hold its audience in thralls. I found them sublime (not an exaggeration, it is truly what I feel). Thank you so much!
Renée is not an exaggeration, sublime is perfect for them.
Il Volo has lost nothing, on the contrary, the long pause has rested their voices which are even more beautiful and powerful.
I must go on Facebook, after many years of holding out!! Tried to get the RIA program but could not, as I’m not presently on Facebook. Watched each video separately and enjoyed them all. Notice that when Ignazio sang Once Upon a Time in America and hit the really high note, Piero looked at him and said ‘WOW’, I agree wholeheartedly, Piero. Also noticed that they changed from their patent leather shoes into slippers at one point. Better to be comfortable after much time spent in shoes! Now, can anyone tell me what CONRADIANA means, as Ignazio seemed very emotional during that number and Gianluca gave him much support. Thanks in advance, Dolores
At the beginning of this post there is a photo of the arena with the words “IL VOLO” in gold. If you click on that photo or the link I put in the replies above you can view the whole concert!
I am in Ontario and also not on Facebook. I was able to watch by putting in my apple ID. If you have an apple phone you can use that. I have to say it took three tries before I finally go in–I had to resort to my Italian dictionary a few times. But I was determined and didn’t give up.
Worth trying again DeeBee!
Don’t have Facebook or a cell phone, guess I’m just old, old school. Finally got it by getting the link to Rai1 and signed up, accepting I don’t know what (it was all in Italian). But finally got to see the whole program, which was more than wonderful!! Thanks everyone for your help.
Good Penina. How happy were you to see our three treasures again?
It was awesome.
They better than ever! They are so warm, so genuine, so loving and caring! They are awesome!
Great Dolores, I’m glad you managed to see everything.
Dolores, I don’t know if in the end, you managed to see the whole concert, I hope so. Now I’ll explain a few things to you. The boys made a change of clothes after a certain number of songs, they completely changed the whole dress and also the shoes, putting on open summer shoes, certainly more comfortable. CONRADIANA, is the name of the song they performed after the closing of the RAI titles. It’s a beautiful song written by Bocelli and set to music by Morricone. Before the song Piero said that the concert was dedicated to the death of Vito Boschetto, Ignazio’s father, so the three boys were moved and hugged Ignazio.
Daniela, I am so envious of you. Thank you so much for sharing this video. I love Il Volo so much, and this new music soothes my soul. It is nice to hear a couple of ones that I’ve heard already as well as all of the newer ones. I can’t wait for the new CDs and DVD. God bless you and yours, and have a great day!
Jo Lynn, I understand your envy and I will be too of you when you are at a concert where I will not be.
I, too, will be waiting trembling for the CD
I have to add my kudos and thanks to you, Daniela, along with everyone else’s–and I love reading everyone’s comments. ( I think we have such an exceptionally lovely and intelligent group of fans!) And I’ll look forward to when we can see your pretty face at a concert without the mask, Daniela. But what a concert! The concept, staging, lighting, to say nothing of the music and the guys’ superlative performance…just thrilling! Something to remember always. And thank you, Pat, for kindly providing the RAI link and everything else you do for us.
You are welcome, Judi!
Judy, how many compliments, thank you. Yes, that’s exactly what I like in this group, we talk, we exchange emotions, a Volo-family!!
Amazing concert.
Elisa Marie
I agree, we do have so many sensitive, intelligent IL VOLO fans in our Volo-family–another great name for us.
As I said in my previous post about the concert, I am at a loss for more adjectives to use to express my feelings about our guys. I keep watching the concert over and over.
Can’t wait until they come to America.
Again, thank you Daniela, Pat and Jana–three gracious, beautiful women.
Ciao,
Elisa Marie
Thanks Elisa, you are always too good.
You are too kind, Elisa. I know I have run out of words to describe our guys. I need to consult my thesaurus! 😂
Thank yoy for translating the conversation between Ignazio and the talented child, I’m really eager to knew it! Anyway i could still feel all the chill from this concert, so emotional, it’s amazing and it’s beyond any words that could be described. I get fascinated just by watching them through the online streaming service, i can’t imagine how much the thrill if i get to see them live!!
I will have other things to say about that child, he was very good and how innocent !!
Seeing our guys live is very rewarding as well as moving.
Yes Daniela, your description of the concert as ‘Starry Night’ is so true! Our 3 young men are extraordinary ~ such special qualities! The pride of Italy!
Thank you Daniela and Pam for giving us this beautiful post so quickly after the event.
I am looking forward to this Friday at 21.45 when the concert will be on RaiItalia. Not only will I be able to see it on the big TV screen, I will be able to record it as well!
I am looking forward to more details of this wonderful concert.
Yes Ineke, the three of them are shining stars.
Enjoy the beautiful concert on the big television, gio
rai, and also try to see me, I was right in the central corridor.
You’re most welcome, Ineke!
Thank you so much for the videos, links and posts! I was so worried about Ignazio, and I feel much better now. He and Piero and Gianluca were in wonderful form and, as usual sweet while at the same time more mature. I found the background actors very distracting. When I watch Il Volo, I want to see them, the emotions on their faces and the way they react to each other. The arena was beautiful and the light effects were amazing, but again, I just wanted to see the boys. I keep replaying the video so I can listen to their new songs while I work! Thanks again Daniella and Pam!
Joan, everyone and everyone was in great shape and full of energy.
From my position I didn’t see much of the choreography behind the guys, but I agree with you that for us, they are just distractions. I believe that the dancers have been added to the last one, just to show that all kinds of art, singing, dancing, resume in the Arena.
I am Pat and you’re welcome, Joan! 😀
In response to Joan Zakhour.I absolutely agree with you about the dancers in the background. Especially the two when Gianluca sang the song for his mother. Personally I thought it was inappropriate. As you said we don’t need the distraction.
RoseMarie, a little too stuck for my tastes ……. and what do we do with Covid ??? 🙂 🙂
Ra1 has been having these “artistes” in the background since Canzone days. I couldn’t stsnd the distraction when the boys were kids, and now it is even worse! Why they feel compelled to have these performers is beyond me. Glad I am not the only one who feels this way!
True Penina, and I admit that as sets they didn’t have much to do with and distracted.
Elisa Marie
I did not want to say anything about the background “entertainment” in my previous posts, but I agree that it was very distracting, unnecessary and inappropriate, especially the duo doing what I describe as “spin-kissing.” Awful. I wonder who approved the backgound-acts idea. I believe it may have been publicity for the arena. Our guys’ talent filled the stage magnificently. The only classy accompaniment were the maestros, the orchestra, the chorus, and the invited other instrumental/singing talent, and special guests.
Just my opinion.
Elisa Marie
As I have already said to Penina, I understand that they were distracting, I must tell you that from my place, I did not notice these ballets, I saw them from the concert recorded by RAI. However, I believe that the intention was to show that singing, dancing and acting could start again in the Arena.
Hello Daniela If I may advocate for the performers you are right Ithing te performers wer a demand of Rai because all artist included perfomers technitiens musicianns and technical stage stff they were without work since the begining and Italy was one of the first country to be in confinment so it was long
The arena di Verona was the first live show after a year an half and Piero Ignazio and Gianluca mentioned that in the show
I understand that the performers will have disturbed some Il VOLO Fans but on the other hand I think is a good action for people to earn his life again like many artist taht along with the F&B and tourism industry they still will be the last to go back to work here in Europe …and still….
Thank You
Alessandra, I agree with you, even if I did not know, I sensed that their presence was made with this purpose and I appreciate it very much, in fact it was a message that all the art of entertainment: singing, dancing and acting, they can finally resume after this long period and certainly, being the first show ever here in Italy, all three arts had to participate. I also really like dance and I must admit that the performances were remarkable, but on this site, we are good-naturedly voted to Il Volo, for this there have been complaints, but certainly not for a bad purpose. I enjoyed the performances of the dancers from the RAI video, because from my place they were not very visible, as well as the choir.
But tell me, are you Italian?
Can I ask you how did you know it was a RAI request? And always allow yourself to intervene, on this site we love exchanging views and we respect each other.
Dear Daniela Thank for your prompt answers
I am so grateful for the amazing work you have done to put videos picture and translation in 0 amount of time! Did you have the time to rest and sleep in Verona???
Yes I am Italian laving in France I am totally new to this group
yesterday I sent a mail to introduce myself and how I was captivated little by little By the 3 Magnificent !
I sent it to ilvoloflightcrew.com, I don’t know if is the right adress to send it…
I think that RAI 1 specially in prime time do always more or less the same “package” when there are big shows that’s why it did not suprise me to see the performers just like in “Ti Lascio “or other big Show.
Thank you for you time
Alessandra
Daniela here is the story I send to the Il Volo Flight Crew
A new crew member with an old story
Alessandra Composto

À ilvoloflightcrew
Dear IL VOLO FLIGHT CREW
I do a premise before start …..thank you Daniela Patt and all others administrator and founders for your fun club.
I found this amazing
I understood that you are keen of knowing stories about the fans and how and why they are so connected with the 3 guys.
Hope I am not mistaken ……..I cannot wait to tell you how I felt in love with the The 3 Magnificents !
My story with the 3 Magnificents, or the 3 Mousquetaires as I called them (Mr. Torpedine would then be D’Artagnan ) start long ago but first of all please,
let me introduce myself.
I am Alessandra an Italian Sicilian that as the 3 Magnificents , left Sicily
very young….. to work abroad….. I am from Messina Province ,quite far from Ignazio and Piero home but, as Daniela explained so well, in italy we belong to regions, places, and above all we belong to blood and people…. and THAT is true !
I Had the chance to live and work in France, England, USA, Central America, an the Emirates
I Come back to sicily in a winter time ,because my aunty was very sick, I went to stay with my uncle to keep him company, and help him out back in 2008/09
One night, it was a saturday andhere we were dining in front of TV with the indiscussed appointment of Uncle Tanino ( a shorter name from Gaetano) at 8:30pm…… , at that time I lived in France and didn’t know all Italy programs, needles to say that I started to watched at TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE ……
I must be honest I was not so thrilled…..to see a bunch of kids in a saturday night that were singing ….and some of them yelling ……the oldest one must have been 12 or 13y/o, any way I was there for uncle Tanino, I have to cheer him up so let TI LASCIO….. be ……of course !
I still can remember his eyes and his face when at a certain point when a chubby kid, with a smart costume, too smart and too strict, for my taste, and for his age, stood up, black hair, round piercing beautiful black eyes covered by red funny sunglasses ….and a voice of a Tenore , Uncle Tanino seems really happy to seem him…. he turn his head looked at me seriously and said …..
“You see this little guy ? He his a hudge monster of talent!! this Guy and the other two that you will see after “SONO BRAVISSIMI E ANDRANNO MOLTO MOLTO LONTANO” (THEY ARE EXTREMELY AMAZING AND GOOD AND THE WILL GO VERY VERY FAR)!
From there the Guys left Italy for your nice country where….they were cherished, trained ,and ….. we all know the rest.
Aunty Angela passed away and uncle Tanino continue to watch Antonella Clerici and TI LASCIO every saturday for many years .
I was calling from France and Iwas asking about Il Volo and Ti Lascio uncle moaned” NON E’ PIU LO STESSO NON SONO PIU LA’, QUESTI SON BRAVI, MA LORO ERANO TROPPO BRAVI)
IS NOT THE SAME,THEY ARE NOT THERE ANYMORE, YES THE OTHER ARE GOOD BUT NOT LIKE THEM
Italiens lost IL Volo track, they were gone famous in the States, reaching more and more succes but in italy nothing…. no more news, so I lost track too
in JuLY 2014 uncle Tanino bought tickets to his sister (my Mom),to go and see Il Volo Live in Taormina!
First time ever the guys were showing their face sing proudly in their country and for 2 of them in their LAND……
Some cannot immagine how important for a sicilian is that…….and in one of the most splendid place in the world, THE GREECK ROMAN THEATRE of TAORMINA. https://youtu.be/ZUwmc4hvYeE
(I never been jealous of my Mom….. but nowadays must admitt I would ahave liked to be in Taormina for their first live concert in Italy! )
They called me proudly in France and my uncle shout on the Phone
“TE L’ AVEVO DETTO CHE DIVENTAVANO FAMOSI!!!! I TOLD YOU THAT THOSE 3 THEY WOULD GO FAR AND BE FAMOUS ONE DAY!
But uncle Tanino did not know that that was nothing, was just the start!
my Mom was overwhelmed by the concert, and she told me on the phone that she cried because they were singing MAMMA, in front of their mothers and she tought of me and my sisters that we were abroad…..and far away.
Uncle Tanino got very hill and he died in july 2017
Still in those years, that was a controversy in Italy about IL VOLO…. we are a indeed splendid Country, we are so lucky to have legacy with Dante Alighieri, Rafaello, Leonardo but even those names…. in the past if you pay attention….. had to struggle to let their name have a resonance in their own country.
Leonardo da Vinci have to escape to France …..
.We are smart …….but not smarter enought to retain true Talents in general……or we need more time than the others, we are not fast enough to recognize talent.
That is why the best paintings today are in the Louvre and not In Galleria degli Uffizzi……😉!
I am not making a comparison here, as an italian I just want to stress the point that I recon that thats the way we simply are, is a fact we have to admitt it and humbly recognize it !
Today I think you understooud that I am a very unconditional Fan of the 3 Mousquetaires, I did not see a concert live YET
but UTUBE HAVE NO SECRET FO ME ANYMORE , I have tickets for this september in Milan and is been cancelled……
I travel quaite a lot when I can I still have friends in the State, my wish is also to come back to see my friends and see a IL VOLO concerti in your beautifull country if the dates matches
My biggest regret ? You understood …….is That uncle Tanino would have been so Natonally and Sicily Proud to see the 3 of them in the arena the VERONA last saturday
Today Piero Ignazio and Gianluca are huge stars in Italy FINALLY
and in the world, their voices are recognized the minutes they sing the first vowel, like the greatest Boccelli etc ,
They still pursuit their career and they will became bigger and bigger
They made it! but they remain and hope they will ,still stay humble, simple, natural , loving people attached to their origin their families just like many of us that still are far from their land and made it in their way…
They are not just singers they are Success Stories and people like me see them and recalls his humble path and his youth living in another country far from you traditions and your people learning different langage and use of others is extremely difficult , we are a country of Immigrants and beacuse I cafeel what they went throw so young I am so proud oF Them!
I Always will be fond of them, like all of you Ladies and Gents, Isupport and défends them against stupidity of ignorant people that insults them and dislike them but fortunally this doesn’t happens so often nowaday,
Thank YOU all for the fantastic support, respect you alway gave to this guys and also for reading me so far!!!!!
Verona Concert last saturday June 5th 2021 moove me so much that I Had to put all my feelings together….. since the beginning…. in words and in black and white….. and thought to send it to you all hope you won’t mind
I understand if you don’t publicise it because it is too long or because is may be out of subject .
I will be timelessly thankful to those Guys, because they show the very good part of italy and Italiens and they set the Example
I will not talk about their voices or their singing …..( we all know what they are worth…)!
I’m talking about THEM , the way they are and the emotion that they can vehiculate with their authentic personalities
LONG LIFE LIVE IL VOLO
I leave you just with a citation of Platoes that said “Is from the singing and the music of a country that you recognize is people ” and Piero Ignazio and Gianluca are the quintessence of That!
The Il Volo Flight Crew Administration Would you need help in translation, stories, about Sicily or other Please don’t hesitate to contact me
Thanks again for bearing and reading me …..if I may allow myself to dedicate this little story to “Angela and Tanino” that loved them since the first minute tah they listend Piero Ignazio & Gianluca
GRAZIE!
E VIVA IL VOLO !!!!!!

Alessandra
Your story is wonderful! Your Uncle was a wise man–he knew talent when he saw it!
Thank you for sharing.
Thank You Penina
Thats the way I came up to know Il Volo in my home Country 12 yaers ago
Kind regards
Alessandra, I’m glad you joined our group.
There are still a lot of details to read about the concert, so stay with us and enjoy reading it all.
The right mail address is: ilvoloflightcrew@gmail.com
Thank You for your warm welcome Daniela!
I ENJOYED THE CONCERT AND APPRECIATED AS A JEWEL. IL VOLO MAGNIFICENT AS ALWAYS, I DID NOT HAVE EYES TO SEE SOMETHING ELSE. SALUDOS DE MEXICO
NATALIA FIGUEROA
Natalia, our eyes want to see only them: Ignazio Piero and Gianluca.
OK, I’m back in now too. I didn’t want to say anything negative about this incredible concert, but I was annoyed with the dancers when they were directly behind the guys, especially the silly thing with the letter writing during Un Amore Cosi Grande. Off to the sides was ok. Wish they could edit them out of the finished dvd.
I agree, I didn’t want to complain. If I have to put up with that in order to see Il Volo, I’ll do it! I have been a bit down since I realized I couldn’t see my son last Christmas, because it wasn’t possible to travel. Il Volo has brightened my days with their angelic voices and positive attitudes and genuine joy in singing and engaging with audiences. It’s so nice to talk to others who feel the same!
Joan, I’m glad Il Volo brightened your days!
I am hoping the same thing!~ Since PBS heavily edits the concerts I am hoping they get rid of all the “side attractions.” DIS-tractions is more like it!
Penina, enjoy the DVD when it arrives and don’t watch the dancers behind the boys singing.
I’ll try! Some of them were hard to ignore…!:
Judi we understood your intent, but I think the dancers will also be on the DVD.
Thank you Daniela for your review of the concert. I was not able to see it but have been viewing the many videos on YouTube. As would be expected, Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero performances were just outstanding and magnificent!! It certainly was an unforgettable and emotional night for all especially for Ignazio. I am so happy for you that you were able to attend and to share with us all that you experienced.
Could you clarify something for me? You mentioned that Piero stated that the concert was dedicated to Vito! Some fans stated that it was just that last song and not the entire concert.I know that it was a beautiful tribute to Ennio Morricone . I am sure that Italy is very proud of his accomplishments and rightly so.And to Pat a big thank you as well!!
You’re most welcome, Annette! 😃
Annette was really great.
Piero said that the concert was dedicated to Vito Boschetto, therefore the whole concert, even if he only said it to the last song.
Thank you Daniela for clarifying this question! I saw that Gary from Althingsilvolo asked the same question! It was on his site that I and other fans said the concert was dedicated to Vito but one particular fan was adamant that it was just the last song!! Who would know better than you!!
You do such a wonderful job. We are so fortunate to have you on this site. I am sure that your reviews and giving all of us comments on our postings has to takeup a good amount of your time.
As I reread your review of this wonderful concert and occasionally close my eyes, I am there with you!! Grazie, thank you❤️
Thanks Annette, I translated all Piero’s words, just so there were no misunderstandings, the whole concert was dedicated to Vito.
Daniela, thank you so much! I wish I could see Il Volo in concert. Your details and descriptions help me to imagine I’m there…….
Jo Lynn, wait and read the details, I’ll take you to the concert, step by step.
Thank you Pat and Daniela for your tireless and speedy work to bring this beautiful concert to us and for sharing this wonderful and very emotional experience with us. They sang beautifully, looked so happy and it has to bring hope to others that they will soon be doing the same! The dedication to Vito, Ignazio’s father, was perfect and was so touching. It was lovely also that Gianluca sang his heart out with “Your Song” to his Mom. I loved seeing his beautiful smile and happiness! I’m glad you had such a good seat Daniela and we are never surprised at how kind and good Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are. They are a treasure. Looking forward to more details when you have time.
I also hesitated to mention the various acts and really thought they were a big distraction. Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are such magical performers, I just wanted to concentrate on them. I do remember also that this was done on Ti lascio una canzone.
Margaret, I gave you a quick overview of the concert so you don’t have to wait. Now the details of the whole concert will come.
Everything was perfect.
Yes, I’ll add my two cents (Canadian) regarding the background performers. I’m sure they were thrilled to be back on stage again, but any stage other than Il Volo’s!! This note is for Pat, Daniela and Jana — has anyone heard from our boys as to how they felt about performing to an audience again? Were ecstatic, I bet! Dolores
Dolores, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca were thrilled to be back on stage, excited, they repeatedly said that their legs were shaking.
