A few days ago, during their concert in Barcelona, Il Volo was interviewed with some questions.
(At the beginning of the video, there’s this caption):
“Il Volo will bring bel canto to the Plaza de Toros de Malagueta on July 19th.”

GIANLUCA= Our style is to take the great classics and immediately create our own song, inspired by classics of Italian and Spanish music.
Our repertoire is mixed, but with many influences from the past, the present, and obviously looking to the future. We are the only thirty-year-old artists singing bel canto, and it’s incredible when you think about it.
IGNAZIO= Spain has always welcomed us very warmly, and honestly, it is a real pleasure to be here, singing our music and singing along with all our fans.
PIERO= On this tour, we’ll be performing in Barcelona, Murcia, and Málaga. Who knows what will happen on July 19th, when we sing in Spain on the day of the World Cup final? We might get to sing “Vincerò” (from the *Nessun Dorma* aria)—which means “I will win”—during the final. Just imagine singing “Vincerò” in Spain on the 19th; it’s something beyond imagination.
And that is exactly what happened during the Spain vs. Argentina final match, the  final match had gone into extra time. The audience stayed in their seats, cheering wildly when Spain scored. Ignazio, Piero, and Gianluca explained that they would head backstage to wait for the match to end and—if Spain won—would return to sing; and that is precisely what happened. No one left—not even the orchestra members—and Il Volo sang the aria from *Nessun Dorma*: “Vincerò!” The Spanish adventure has come to a close with the concert in Murcia.
What an extraordinary evening!

101 TV Malaga also covered the event and wrote these words and published these videos and photos:
“🎶 A spectacular moment in Málaga! Il Volo paused their concert at the Plaza de Toros when Spain scored during extra time in the World Cup final. The audience followed the match on the venue’s screens, and at the final whistle, the arena erupted in celebration with flags and singing. The Italian trio closed the evening with ‘Nessun Dorma,’ dedicating their ‘Vincerò’ to Spain’s victory. It all took place at the 101 Music Festival Costa del Sol.
and what’s more…
The music moved us. Football made history for us. ❤️Google (Noto Color Emoji 17.0)
Last night is one that the 101 Music Festival Costa del Sol will never forget.
IL VOLO drove the crowd at the Málaga bullring wild with an unforgettable performance on a truly historic night.
Together, we experienced Spain’s victory in the World Cup final Google (Noto Color Emoji 17.0)🏆
The golden moment came with “Nessun Dorma.” That “Vincerò” rang out like an anthem for an unforgettable night.❤️

In the video below:
GIANLUCA= I want to show you what’s happening. We’re in Malaga; the concert is over, but the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina is on, and everyone in the arena is watching the match… it’s incredible… the whole orchestra is on stage…

Nice interview; I’ll give a rough translation… It was taken before the Malaga concert, and therefore also before the World Cup final.

WOMAN = Ping-pong with:
PIERO = Il Volo
WOMAN = If I say Malaga, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
PIERO = The Spain vs. Argentina World Cup final.
WOMAN = What’s it like to sing at the Plaza de Toros in Malaga?
PIERO = It’s our first time performing a concert at the Plaza de Toros. We sang in Palma de Mallorca once, but this is our first time in Malaga—it’s wonderful.
GIANLUCA = We’re singing Spanish classics tonight, too.
WOMAN = Is this your first time dining here, or have you eaten in Malaga before?
IGNAZIO = Not in Malaga, but I’m a huge paella fan.
PIERO = We have to stick to a specific diet.
GIANLUCA = What’s the specialty here in Malaga? What’s it called?
WOMAN = *Espeto* (sardines grilled over an open fire).
PIERO = *Rispetto*?
WOMAN = *Espeto*.
GIANLUCA = Because *rispetto* (respect)  means something else entirely.
WOMAN = A collaboration you dream of having with a Spanish artist.
PIERO = Rosalía. (Spanish singer-songwriter)
GIANLUCA = She’s very talented.
WOMAN = Last thing, but very important: Spain or Argentina?
PIERO = Italy!
IGNAZIO = Hoping they qualify for the next World Cup, we’re voting for Italy!

  2. I love reading your post. Always interesting and fun about the ragazzi. The photos and videos I love as it makes me feel i am there. They looked great. There outfits always look so good on them, model like, especially Gianluca. As usual listening to them gives me emotion and a thrill.
    The ping pong interview was fun.

    I’m sorry to see the horrible fires in Sicily, my thoughts are with the people living there. I hope that Piero’s family are not affected.
    I know there are fires in Europe even here in the UK.
    The heat still goes on.

    Thank you Daniela and Pat.
    Keep safe and best wishes.
    Have a good weekend.
    Much love
    Fenella xx🥰

  3. It’s true, Fenella: following our guys’ concerts and various interviews is fun for us and never gets old.

    Unfortunately, summer wildfires are a truly painful issue, so many hectares of vegetation gone up in smoke and a real risk for so many people; let’s pray this situation ends soon.

    1. Yes my thoughts and prayers are with u all.
      Its ok to be nice and warm but not to this degree
