So, what’s been going on this week? We started the week with an old friend, Miss Daisy! She was out there promoting Women’s Day! And what a good job she did!
Dressed in very tasteful black and white business suit and sporting that beautiful black petal necklace, she stood proudly in honor of women all over the world. Thank you, Miss Daisy!
Well, what do you know, the little Panda returned to share a post with Pizza! Oh my! Are you still asleep in the sushi! You got to get up sometime! Perhaps to eat some Pizza!
Food, glorious food! Pizza, Sushi and Bacon and Eggs!
And the question from the guys, “What do you prefer? Pizza or Sushi!” You know how that turned out. Always pizza!
I think the idea was to guess who would eat what! But that’s a no-brainer! Choosing between pizza and sushi, no choice necessary! That works for Fabio and Ignazio (provided the sushi is vegan).
The bacon and eggs is another story!
Fabio are you missing the United States? Don’t worry you’ll be back soon!
Or was the skeleton Ignazio’s way of saying Taboo! We know Ignazio wouldn’t go near the bacon and eggs! Regardless, in the end, the Pizza won out!
So, let’s change tracks for a moment! Did you see that cute little fish in the light bulb? Could he be a relative of Nemo?
In the black and white picture, I said, “Home is where the heart is so FOLLOW @boincollection” And, what do you know, this little guy arrived at BOIN just in time to hear Ignazio’s voice in the distance singing the theme from Màkari.
Suddenly, everything lit up and he found himself in the middle of a, beautiful, aqua sea. So, he followed the voice until he came to Màkari. And what do you know, there he was, Ignazio strumming his guitar and singing his beautiful song! At last, the little fishy was home!If you missed Ignazio singing, tune in, Monday, March 15th on Rai1 21.25 (Italy) to see the premier of Màkari and of course to here our guys sing the beautiful theme song, “Màkari,” which was written by Ignazio.
If you don’t have Italian cable, don’t worry, look for me on Tuesday, I’ll be back with this beautiful song!
So, the BOIN posts are going on nearly two months now, and finally, they stumped me!
I have to admit guys, I looked at the three little ghosts and, NOTHING!
It takes a lot to leave me speechless but bravo, Fabio and Ignazio, you did it!
Are those little ghosts, BOIN Crew or just some friends who dropped by? We have to wait to see where this goes.
So, we close out the week with a little Angel Fish and a Devil Fish. It seems the Devil Fish shocked the Angel Fish! My question was “Look at you, you cute little Angel! What did that Devil say to you?”
So, I close the week with the question, “What do you think the little Devil said to the little Angel?
Enjoy your weekend! I’ll be back on Tuesday with the Màkari theme!
When I heard the sad news on Monday that Ignazio’s father passed away, I was shocked! It was so sudden. And of course, I immediately thought about Ignazio and his family and my heart went out to them.
Life is so short and, just when it seems all is right, it’s over! It doesn’t always happen that way but when it does, it creates a silence in us that is almost deafening. Everything goes away and sorrow takes its place! There’s no trying to explain it. If we could, we would know the secret of life. So, we try to do what we can to help the people we love. And that’s what Fabio did!
When I saw the Heart on BOIN, I thought about Ignazio and Fabio. They have been friends since they were teenagers. I’m sure Fabio was hurting for his friend. He was feeling Ignazio’s pain. I believe Fabio needed to do something. And he did what he does best, he expressed his feelings in art.
Look up! That’s Ignazio’s heart. Fabio drew it and then he noticed there was a break in it and, he felt the pain. He immediately drew a Little Band-aid and said, “God please help my friend, he’s in pain!” And for a few moments, Ignazio’s pain was alleviated. Then he thought, the pain will come back and he still will be very sad. Maybe some friends can cheer him up! So, he sent that beautiful Heart to all of us. What was touching about the Heart was the Little Band-aid in the middle. It spoke volumes! It said my, friend, Ignazio is in pain and he is very sad.
I understood what needed to be done! I took the Heart with the Little Band-aid and I sent it with a message to Ignazio friends, you, the fans to let you know he needed our help! And suddenly the break in the Heart began to close. The Little Band-aids were helping the pain.
The space in Ignazio’s heart was rapidly filling with beautiful
expressions of love to comfort him in his time of sorrow.
We are at his side, in prayer, and we will remain with
him for as long as he needs us!
Yes, the Little Band-aids are there but, you can’t see them. They’re invisible! They’re called Words!
When all of you received the message, you immediately responded! This has been going on for days! Even, now, messages are coming in from around the world on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram! Not hundreds, not thousands but, tens of thousands! And that’s just what came to me! Messages expressing condolences, sympathy, prayers! Please send our Condolences to Ignazio and his family. Please send our deepest Sympathy to the family. Please let Ignazio know “we are praying for the family.”
All those tens of thousands of Little Band-aids you sent, they are there on Ignazio’s Heart and they are easing the pain.
We found out Ignazio is a Lion, a very courageous young man. Just listen to his very emotional performance of “Your Love” at Sanremo. Vito that was for you! Amazing strength! And I must say some of that courage and strength came from all of you. Remember those six little words you said? “We are praying for the family!” They gave Ignazio the strength and courage to follow a path he never followed before. Your prayers were with him all the way.
But what will happen with the Little Band-aids? Will they ever go away? Soon, soon the pain will begin to subside and, the Little Band-aids will take on a new role. They will become Memorieswhich Ignazio will store away for those days when he is sad and needs some comfort. Then he will reach into his beautiful head and pull out a wonderful memory!
Now, Ignazio has become the man of the house and we know he will be “a rock” for those beautiful ladies, mom Caterina and sister, Nina!
I would love to be able to reply to all of you, personally, to thank you for all those, beautiful expression of love, which were so important to Ignazio and his family. The fans are an important part of Ignazio’s life. I’ve come to know many of you personally. You are Ignazio’s family and my family because we are all one family, the Il Volo family. And I know Ignazio appreciates what each and every one of you did for him this week. The time you took to write your words of love and all your prayers for his family. He will hold them in his heart forever.
Yesterday, Vito was laid to rest! More than ever the family needs your prayers! Please continue to keep Ignazio close to your heart and in your prayers!
I want to thank Fabio for sending us Ignazio’s Heart so we could alleviate some of the pain and share our love with him.
I can’t even imagine how they got through that very touching song. So appropriate! If Ignazio wanted to tell his father how he felt, he certainly couldn’t have said it better than with that song.
You could feel the emotion! You could feel the support for Ignazio! Many times, Ignazio had to hold back tears but, so did Gianluca! If ever there was a question of how these guys feel about each other, the question was answered at Sanremo. True brothers!
Isn’t it fitting that they began their wonderful journey on the Ariston stage and, they showed their true love for each other on that same stage? These three, amazing, young men poured out their hearts for the love of Vito. And Gianluca and Piero showed their love for Ignazio in their support for him in one of the most difficult times in his life. These guys are so strong for one another!
Ignazio is a, true, showmen! He knew the show must go on! And he knew that’s how his father would want it to be! No question this was a very difficult decision for Ignazio to make but, he knew there was only one answer. Yes, the show must go on! And when it did it was with such dignity, that it left us all speechless. Every performance they give is exceptional but when it’s also emotional it goes to another level. I don’t know about the rest of you but, I was in tears.
We have to remember these young men have been together for 11 years and so have their families. So, the loss goes beyond Ignazio because Gianluca and Piero are also his family. They were teenagers when they came together and, they are used to having each other’s parents traveling with them. They traveled for very long periods of time with Mr. Boschetto. He was a part of the Il Volo family so it’s only natural that they are also feeling the loss.
Vito you will be missed by your family but, you will also be missed by your Il Volo family with whom you shared many wonderful moments! And, the Il Volo fans, will miss you too!
Ignazio you made your father very proud. His love will always shine in your heart!
Your Love (Once Upon A Time In The West)
I woke and you were there
Beside me in the night
You touched me and calmed my fear
Turned darkness into light
I woke and saw you there
Beside me as before
My heart leapt to find you near
To feel you close once more
To feel your love once more
Your strength has made me strong
Though life tore us apart
And now when the night seems long
Your love shines in my heart
Your love shines in my heart
Grazie Mille for everyone that sent in a donation to this site. Shortly after the posting announced we would be sending a floral message, the donations started rolling in. We have such wonderful and generous fans on this site, and we can’t thank you enough. Kelly and I were overwhelmed! We had more than enough money to send flowers. 🙂
We wanted to share what was sent and said… I really liked this as it seemed bright and cheery. It said orange roses and white gerbera daisies.
We signed it: With deepest sympathies to the Boschetto family – with love Il Volo Flight Crew. (In Italian…)
Thank you also for sending such heart-felt condolence messages on the last 2 posts. They are beautiful…
Often, I write about Ignazio and all his wonderful achievements but, today I have to write about something that is so very sad.
On Monday, we all heard the news about the sudden death of Ignazio’s father, Vito Boschetto. Each of us stopped to think about Ignazio and, how he must be feeling. There are no words that we can express to comfort the family. We can only say they are in our hearts and in our prayers!
I write about Ignazio so often that I feel a special closeness to him and, my heart aches for him. I know how sensitive he is and, I think he must be hurting a lot right now.
Today I want to write, not about Ignazio but, about his family. What I know about them and how they made Ignazio who he is today.
Over the years, as we watched Ignazio grow into a fine, young men, we grew to understand that it was his parents’ guidance that made him who he is. They are a very proud family. Hard working people. This is a trait we see in Ignazio.
They gave Ignazio such exceptional values that it only made sense he would become the good, kind and compassionate person he is.
When Ignazio speaks about his family he speaks with a passion. The deep bond this family has is exceptional. Even as a very young child Ignazio said his family shared everything. No matter what happened it was discussed with the whole family. Ignazio has said that he admires his parents for their openness with him and Nina.
This is what Ignazio had to say about his parents. “Is it the same if the images that I will never forget are …. the memories of my parents? It’s not that I’m crazy or strange, it’s right that my story would never have existed without my parents …. Of sacrifices they have made many and, big for me and for my sister but, more so for me. I do not spend days when I do not think about how proud I am of them.”
Mr. Boschetto was a man who worked very hard for his family. He was a mason, a brick layer. He worked at this job right up to the last days of his life. Ignazio would tell you that his mom and dad had worked at many jobs, and they tried to learn any trade, just to earn some extra money for the family.
In 1990 when work was scarce in Marsala, it became necessary to find work elsewhere. Vito heard about work in Buonconvento, in the province of Siena and he moved his family there. At the time only Nina was born.
In 1992 it became apparent that this was not working. They could not earn enough to sustain the family and so, after hearing from an old friend about work in San Martino in Argine, near Bologna, Vito moved his family there. This was an excellent decision because the family began to prosper with this move. They decided it was time to move into a home of their own and, so, they moved into a house in the hamlet of Guarda di Molinella. This is the house where Ignazio was born.
You will recall that Ignazio’s mother became ill with cancer and many of Ignazio’s young years were spent alone with his sister, Nina. For Ignazio, Nina is a second mother.
After Caterina’s successful treatment, she returned to work and finally everything was normal.
Vito and Caterina knew they would return to Marsala one day and, that is what they worked towards.
In July 2004 the family moved back to Marsala. Caterina’s dream was to open a pizzeria and Vito’s dream was to have Caterina’s dream come true.
Every day for one year, when Vito returned from worked, he built the pizzeria. He built it right in front of their house. Every free moment Ignazio had, he worked alongside his father so that his mother could realize her dream. A year later the pizzeria was completed.
Ignazio’s memories of this time bring him to a very important moment in his life. He always says, “If there had not been the pizzeria, perhaps I would never have started singing seriously. Because, in the meantime, while the pizzeria grew, into me grew more and more the passion for electronics and music. I had started to be part of the elementary school choir and my dad, who was more passionate about electronics than me, had bought me a mixer, a microphone and two speakers, with which we started doing the easiest thing that could be done with that: karaoke.”
Much of this story you already know. After Caterina’s customer heard Ignazio sing, he suggested he meet with a singing teacher and the rest is history. But, before the history there were many obstacles to overcome.
Lessons, many, many lessons. Lessons took money. Lots and lots of money. And so, Vito and Caterina did everything they could to get the money that was needed for the lessons. It took a lot of hard work but, for Vito and Caterina, it was necessary so Ignazio could have his dream.
Finally, the day arrived when the money ran out and Vito and Caterina were heartbroken. They tried everything possible but could not find the means for Ignazio to go on with his lessons. Finally, they found a way. They decided to make a loan. And through the generosity of someone dear to them, the lessons continued. Yes, the sacrifices were great and, many but they were made with love!
After Ti Lascio una Canzone, Il Volo came to be and, a, new, sacrifice had to be made.
Since Ignazio was underage, one of his parents had to travel with him on his world tours. The time was split between Vito and Caterina. This certainly disrupted their family life but, being the people they are, they managed to get through it. At that point the greatest sacrifice to be made was between Ignazio and Nina who would not see each other for very long periods of time. The world tours kept the family apart but, their love kept them together.
When Vito returned from the tour, he would return to his work. He never tried to make his life easy. What he did, he did for his children and would only accept their love in return.
Vito was a simple man! A humble man who taught his children to be kind and humble and to live lives that they could be proud of.
It is not every man that passes through this life that can say he was able to fulfill his son’s dream. A dream that would bring him fame.
Once Ignazio described his family as simple people. Yes, simple and loving and always ready to do whatever was necessary to help each other.
Ignazio, your father is gone but you will keep him alive in your memory. You’ll walk into a room and remember a beautiful moment. You’ll look at a picture and remember that wonderful smile that made a little boys tears go away. You’ll walk down a street and remember the first time you walked together and, he held your hand and made you understand that he would always be there for you. He will always be there for you! You will feel his presence! You will keep his memory alive with your stories of all the wonderful things you shared! But, above all, you will keep him alive because you are him! You are the best part of what he was! His unbounding love! This is the greatest legacy a man can leave for his family!
Ignazio, please accept our deepest condolences! Know that we all are praying for you and your family.
