Il Volo – Groundhog’s Day??

Hello folks, i just thought I’d share my evening with you tonight….

Chris and I dutifully volunteered tonight for Il Volo night at PBS.

Nine-thirty came and we anxiously awaited the start of our guys.  I was finishing up a pledge, so did not realize the Nessun Dorma they were playing was at the END of the concert, until the credits started to roll!

What was happening??  We did not have a clue!

So, they tried to fix it, but it was like on continuous repeat of the last few songs.

I clapped briefly to libiamo and enjoyed it again, and again,  and again… I think like 6 times, at least?

We eventually went just totally live, and they were just talking.  They must have been doing something right, people were still calling and ordering our guys!

It was also freezing cold in here tonight!

I even told the one person how to say Ignazio’s name and she repeated it well, however, she was a smart girl and said she would not attempt it on air.  Unfortunately,  not so for the other speaker, Fred.  🙁

Anyhow,  an interesting night it is.

~ The Magic Night Tour Is Over ~ by Melina

 The last concert of the Magic Night tour has ended.   Melina summarizes all the emotions that have accompanied us in this beautiful year.

Our loves have inflamed and bewitched even the most composed and peaceful Japanese, who are known for their reserved nature and not  used to manifest too much impetus and ardor. And with these images that warm the heart, let me take a little consideration:

The Kawasaki concert was the last of this endless world tour of “Magic Night”.  We’ll miss them!!

We will remember the applause, standing ovations, overwhelming euphoria, and the love of the public.  We will remember the involvement of all the senses. We will remember the smiles and the happiness of our boys, their still wonder of the success.  We will remember their jokes and the laughter that they have snatched from viewers.  We will remember the emotion and the enchantment they have aroused in people… their beautiful voices  and the passion of their performances.

There will be other tours and everything will start again, and there will still be shows in every corner of the world, but this closes a chapter that made us thrill, rejoice, become proud.

This Tour was more of a challenge than others, because it was a difficult and not very commercial genre to which not everyone was accustomed.   A challenge won in all respects and on all fronts, which gave irrepressible triumphs, demonstrating, if still we needed it, that “the trio of wonders” are capable of performing and captivating whatever they sing. It is right that after so much effort there is for the boys a little rest and time to reflect and prepare new projects, which will certainly surprise and give great sensations. We will keep these memories in the heart, and we will wait anxiously and with trepidation for the next artistic achievements that will make us, as always, jump with enthusiasm.

Our guys in Japan – Last Notte Magica! Nov 29 & Dec 1, 2017

This is it, the LAST two concerts of the official Notte Magica tour!  They did it.  They made it!  What a year it has been.  A little bittersweet now….  yes, we were tiring just a little tad, for they were the same songs, just a different city.  But as the tour progressed to the different countries and continents, we saw them loosen up a bit and almost get back to their old crazy selves!  It was so nice to see – we missed that about them  Yes, they are growing up, not children anymore, but of course, we like to see them having a good time… 🙂

Their next engagement will be December 13 in Mexico, for the Ferrero Rocher concert.  I’m sure they’ be singing some songs still from Notte Magica.

Right now, they are all back in Italy, somewhere…. I imagine enjoying a short break before heading back to Mexico, then it’s off to Australia, and then home, home at last, where they will be working on their next surprises for us!  Will they tour next year?  Only the Il Volo Shadow knows….. 🙂    Ah, wouldn’t we all want to be that shadow?

~ Il Volo – C’e Posta Per Te ~ Medley Notte Magica

Many thanks to Victoria, one of our Flight Crew, who  sent in this beautiful video clip that her 90 year old Il Volo fan friend sent to her!  Victoria was wondering who the woman with the dark hair was and what was the story behind this video?  So, I turned to our faithful and ever ready Italian Correspondent Extraordinare,  Daniela, who gave us the tender story.

 

The story is simple.  There are six children, 5 females and 1 male.  The woman with the dark hair is their mother, who has made many sacrifices for them.   Four years ago they lost their dad who was a sailor.  They were not wealthy, but led a simple life,  but always cheerful and their dad was always there for them.  These children had promised dad to take care of  their mother, but for 4 years she is always sad.   

So the children, to reward her, take her to this program to show her all their love.  To surprise her, they called IL VOLO,  knowing how much she admired them.   Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca, gave her nice words of support, a bracelet, and sang for her.  The whole family was invited to the concert in Rome.

 The presenter is Maria De Filippi who in Channel 5 is really an important person.  In this video you will notice that she looks admirably with the boys as they sing.

Final US dates for Notte Magica movie!!

Ok, this is a drop everything, grab your girlfriends, husband, etc. and run to the theatre if it is near you!  There are 4 final US dates for the showing of Notte Magica – THREE of them are all on the same date – Wednesday, November 15 – yes, merely 2 days away!

Thanks to a heads-up reminder from Marion!!  Our dear “behind-the-scener” on this site – she is always looking out for us!  🙂

There is one date in Wilcox, Arizona on December 8, TWO in Florida (Naples & Coconut Creek (Boca), and one in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, all on November 15.  See map below!

Those of us north of the Mason-Dixon line, could surely use a little warmth right now.  It barely got to 30 degrees here in Detroit on Friday!  Brrr…!  Although a slight warm-up is headed our way.  So, get online and find some cheap airfares.  I hear it’s still in the 90s down there in Florida.
