THE RESULTS by Daniela

First of all, I wanted to thank all the people who responded with the list of the most popular Italian singers abroad. 🙂❤️

I asked you to do this “experiment”, because an Italian newspaper published the list of these singers, but in my opinion it was not very correct.

Of course it was logical that Bocelli was at number 1. His success and popularity are indisputable.
But I wanted to know the position of the remaining singers, which logically varies according to the country, where a singer can be more or less known, if he has been in that country to do concerts, or if the radios of that place broadcast his songs .

This is why I asked for a list that did not take into account the affection you have for singers, (it was logical for us it was IL VOLO), but only for the success, their popularity.

Of course this experiment was only useful to understand in what position was IL VOLO, after the first place certainly by Bocelli.

As I expected, the results were these:

1 BOCELLI
2 IL VOLO for most of you

In short, IL VOLO ranks second, if we consider those who live in Canada and the US.

It can also be in third place, if we consider part of South America (where is very well known Ramazzotti and Pausini).

All other singers are little known or even unknown, by most of you.

The situation is different if we take Europe, those who live in Europe know the other singers and IL VOLO is only from Eurovision that has been known in Europe, therefore for a short time. Moreover, singers like Albano, Cutugno, Zucchero, known in Europe, have for many years been in their careers and are even older than our boys, so it’s been more time since we’ve heard of them.

Therefore, I would conclude that by mixing everything, the result can be this:

1 BOCELLI
IL VOLO for popularity among those who answered, is positioned between the seat n. 2 and the n.3.

Now I publish the list as required by the Italian newspaper.

01 – Laura Pausini

02 – Andrea Bocelli

03 – Eros Ramazzotti

04 – Marco Mengoni

05 – Al Bano

06 – Toto Cutugno

07 – Il Volo

08 – Tiziano Ferro

09 – Zucchero

10 – Adriano Celentano

I tell you right away that the newspaper says “Ranking of the best known Italian singers abroad”, do you understand? Writes “abroad” ….. if they had written Europa, maybe I would have accepted the ranking, but abroad ???

Bocelli is not even at No. 1.
AND IL VOLO at no. 7 ??????

For me, those who have written this ranking do not have exactly the right vision.
Your lists confirm this.
Some singers who have been listed before IL VOLO are almost unknown to most of you.

For those who want, here is the link to the original article.

Ok, we played and it was fun too.
Did you like being able to say your opinion freely?
What do you think of the newspaper’s ranking?
Thanks again so much for participating.

REQUEST FOR A LIST AND… BYE BYE JAPAN by Daniela

Today I need your help.

In these days, an article has been published, which is concerning in a limited way, also IL VOLO.

The article speaks of Italian singers who are more successful abroad and writes a list based on notoriety.

Now I kindly ask you to draw up your own personal ranking, so as to check whether this article has made careful evaluations or has written inappropriate things.

Of course I will not tell you the order in which the article published the names, I will tell you after you have made your ideal list.

The names of Italian singers are these (in alphabetical order).

BOCELLI Andrea

Carrisi ALBANO

CELENTANO Adriano

CUTUGNO Toto

FERRO Tiziano

MENGONI Marco

PAUSINI Laura

RAMAZZOTTI Eros

Il VOLO

ZUCCHERO Fornaciari

Please make a list by putting at number one the singer you think is best known where you live.

You got it right – the best known. I don’t want you to list who is the best for you, but who is best known.

Of course, even if all of us are fans of IL VOLO, I would like your list to not take into account the affection for our guys, which absolutely does not change, but I would like a truly impartial list.

And now we continue to list what happened to our guys these days.

The tour in Japan is over, and I would say in the best way.

The boys have had great success!

The last concert in Osaka.

From Tokyo, we received this video of Piero singing “Pourquoi Me Réveiller” taken from the opera WERTER, really very good Piero!

I would say that guys are very popular !!

Some shots of the boys between one concert and another.

They even found a store that sold their CDs, what a thrill!!

The tour in Japan was also filed, but there was another official announcement, that of the partial dates of the South American tour.

Many new dates and Mexico and Argentina are still missing.

Well, the next dates will be for Canada and the US, time is approaching!

Well guys, congratulations on the Japanese tour, concluded beautifully and …… wow, how many new dates, but you never get tired?

I now turn to you volovers, I wait for many of you to respond by publishing, in addition to comments, the list of the most popular singers, so we can make some nice comparisons.
Thanks for the help: Daniela

Hi Everyone,

It’s getting closer!!! Those concert dates are coming up pretty quick. Let me guess, you’re counting the days, right?

Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are still home in Italy, they seem to be eating, dancing and hitting the beach. More on that later.

DID YOU KNOW?

I’ve done a lot of posts featuring Italian and Italian American singers. There are still some I haven’t done yet. Italy seems to spawn some great singers (as if we didn’t know that) They have reached perfection when they sent us Il Volo!! 🙂

James William Ercolani (born June 8, 1936), known by his stage name James Darren, is an Italian-American television and film actor, television director, and singer.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 8, 1936, Darren began his career as a teen idol, having been discovered by talent agent and casting director Joyce Selznick. This encompassed roles in films, most notably his role as Moondoggie in Gidget in 1959, as well as a string of pop hits for Colpix Records, the biggest of which was “Goodbye Cruel World” (#3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961). It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Another sizeable hit was “Her Royal Majesty” (#6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962). He is also featured in one of the Scopitone series of pop music video jukebox films (“Because You’re Mine”).

James Darren is not related to Bobby Darin. This confusion sometimes arises because: their names are pronounced similarly, they are the same age, they both started their careers as teen idols with similarly styled songs, both later sang some of the same standard pop/jazz ballads, and they are both associated with Gidget. James starred in “Gidget” films as Gidget’s (Sandra Dee) love interest. In real life, Bobby was the love interest: he married Sandra Dee. During this time, he also appeared as a guest star on the popular ABC-TV sitcom The Donna Reed Show.

Darren’s role in the 1961 World War II film The Guns of Navarone was an attempt to break out of his teen image. He was the singing voice of Yogi Bear in the 1964 animated film, Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear!, on the song “Ven-e, Ven-o, Ven-a”. Prior to that, he was the singing and speaking voice of “Jimmy Darrock” on an episode of The Flintstones. He then achieved success co-starring as impulsive scientist and adventurer Tony Newman in the science fiction television series, The Time Tunnel (1966–1967).james d1

In the 1970s, Darren appeared as a celebrity panelist on Match Game.

Later Darren had a regular role as Officer James Corrigan on the television police drama T. J. Hooker from 1983–1986. Subsequently he worked as a director on many action-based television series, including Hunter, The A-Team, and Nowhere Man, as well as dramas such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place.    james d2

In 1998, he achieved renewed popularity as a singer through his appearances on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in the role of holographic crooner and advice-giver Vic Fontaine; many of his performances on the show were re-recorded for the album This One’s from the Heart (1999). The album showed Darren, a close friend of Frank Sinatra, comfortably singing in the Sinatra style; the 2001 follow-up Because of You showed similar inspiration from Tony Bennett.
