(No offense Annie, but if I had a Granddaughter that looked like that I wouldn’t take her with me to meet the Boys!  Look at Gianluca.  He knows what I’m talkin’ about. ~Marie)

Annie’s Story:

I just wanted to share my experience at the concert in Toronto on June 24, 2014. I went to the concert with my Daughter and Granddaughter, which I thought was great for all of us to enjoy the same kind of music. I had seen them last year at Molson Amphitheatre and didn’t see them as close as I would have liked, so when I found out they were coming to Toronto this year, I was determined not only to get good seats, but to do the meet and greet as well. My Daughter and Granddaughter agreed. I was not disappointed! The concert was great and we had good seats. At one point when we came back from the rest room, they were down off the stage and we almost bumped into them, when they saw my Granddaughter the did a double take, I think they thought she was cute and at that point I think I was invisible to them.

After we got to our seats, one of them ( I think Piero) yelled out, “I bet you just came back from the washroom“, of course we had, but we just waved our T shirts in the air and said that we were out there buying them, but we had a good laugh about it. Afterwards at the meet and greet when it was our turn Gianluca was holding his arms wide open for a hug, but it was not for me, but my Granddaughter and I felt a little foolish. Anyway we got autographs and pictures taken and hugs, it went by so fast I thought maybe I dreamed it all. What an experience I’ll never forget it and hope to be able to do it again. ( I saw a picture posted ATIV of Ignazio giving Piero a wallet for his Birthday and they were standing outside Luis Vuitton store which an area I’m in often and only wish I had been there then.) I hope this hasn’t been too long. I just felt I had so much to say.

Not too long Annie.  Not too long at all!

Celebrating With Piero in Toronto ~~ Penina’s Story

Hi!

Penina and Loretta were on hand in Toronto to help Piero celebrate his birthday and enjoy some good music as well.  I do have to thank the two of them for the very thoughtful thing they did for him in the name of The Flight Crew.  Thank you guys so much!  🙂

Last night I went with a friend to Roy Thompson Hall for the Il Volo concert. Loretta and I had corresponded by email, and we knew where our respective seats were. We also decided it was a good idea to buy a birthday cake for Piero and tell him it was from the Flight Crew. I ordered the cake, specifying the colors and what it should say. But I had no idea what I would do with it during the concert! I managed to find a huge plastic bag that the cake box would fit in to carry it downtown–a necessity because it was raining hard. In the end, I wound up putting it on the floor under the seat in front of me–I wanted to be sure to be able to stand up and cheer without squashing the cake!
We had wonderful seats in the second row on the aisle. Loretta was on the other side, in the front row on the other aisle. We connected before the show, and I also met a few others who were wearing badges–one of the ladies said she reads the blog but doesn’t comment, the others were her friends.

The concert was marvelous (as usual!!), the guys were funny and adorable. Ignazio was up to his usual tricks and at one point late in the show, he slid across the floor on his knees and tore a hole in his pants! He was (mock) upset and moaned about the hole and tried to enlist the others’ sympathy, but they weren’t buying it!  The time flew by–it was a too short two hours. And then it was over and we were waiting for the meet and greet.

Finally it was our turn. We were waiting in a line that was extended into the room where the meet and greet took place. We opened the cake box so we could show it to Piero when we got up there. Piero saw the cake box and stuck out his stomach and made a gesture with his hand–like I’m getting fat! I grinned at him, and he grinned back. At last it was my turn.  It was my first M & G, and I was a bit tongue tied. I mumbled something to Ignazio (I have no idea what), got him to sign the back of the badge, told Gianluca he is way better than Sinatra ever was (to which he thanked me), and Piero said, “A lot of people are telling him that!” Well, why not? It is certainly true! Piero looked at the cake, gave a big smile and thanked me, and then we were hustled into a line for the photo–They took one of the 3 of us: Loretta, my friend Susan and me. Loretta convinced them to take another one of just her and the guys. While this was happening, I spotted Barbara and I went over to her and thanked her for all that she does for our young men.
A lovely evening indeed!

Thank You, #ILVOLOVERS ~~ From Piero

Hi Everone,

The concert last night was a rousing success. The concert was held at the exciting Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The Bell Centre was built in Downtown Montreal in 1996, it replaced the aging Montreal Forum that was built in 1924. The Centre is considered the most technologically advanced venue in the world. Aside from concerts and other events, it is the home of the legendary ‘Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club’ There are some Photos of the concert on Il Volo Mundial.

Il volo now has two days off before the concert in Pittsburgh on September 11th at Heinz Hall.
We all hope Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca get a good rest for the next 2 days, they have a grueling schedule ahead. It’s a good time to give those beautiful voices a rest!!

No recent Tweets, they’re taking a little time away.

Gianluca says in an article found on Team Il Volo by ‘Times On Line’, “When we sing together it’s a beautiful sound”. The article points out that Gianluca said he is the outgoing member of the group and Ignazio the most bashful. That doesn’t sound like the Ignazio we know!!
The article reminds us of the groups appearance with Barbara Streisand in Her PBS special around Thanksgiving. “Buon Natale”, Il Volo’s PBS Christmas Special will air in December. Their new CD of that name will also be available..

Check our Blog, there are many great pictures and stories from Marie of the Detroit Concert.

Have a good few days off, “Boys” get rested and ready for Pittsburgh!

He tweeted later that night “Kisses from #Toronto.”
Gianluca tweeted last night “You are so right for what’s wrong in my liiife!”
He tweeted later in the night “Already in my bedroom in Toronto, going to sleep..super super tired!”

It must have been a great honor for Il Volo to be the Featured Performers at last night’s Audrey’s Ball. The Charity event is given in honor of Audrey Hepburn, the beloved Screen Actress. Miss Hepburn toured all over the world for many years before her death to bring attention to the plight of starving children throughout the World.

Check Team Il volo for 2 interesting articles “For Il Volo’s Gianluca Ginoble, everything is beautiful” in the National Post.
