HURRAY, LET’S START AGAIN by Daniela

Finally a light can be glimpsed at the end of this long tunnel of isolation and this light is getting closer and closer.
The news came yesterday. The shows in the Arena in Verona will restart. And what a better way to start, “great”??
But with a beautiful tribute concert to Morricone performed by Il Volo.

All true!!!
On June 5, the Arena will reopen with all the limitations due to the virus, but it will be a real restart followed by the opera season and live concerts.
The first concert for the opening will be the tribute to Morricone, performed by our beloved Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.

This is the official news, and of which I translate the essential parts.

“Live music restarts from the Arena, we are ready to rekindle the amphitheater”

At work to restart, and to ensure that the restart is, on an international level, made in Verona. More precisely, starting from the Arena, temple and symbol of music under the stars all over the world.
The effort is to recover all the shows that could not be staged last season, in the fundamental hope of having an Arena with a capacity of 6 thousand people (usually about 20 thousand people).
“The opening of the season in the Arena, which could also be the first live after the worldwide lockdown, will be entrusted to Volo, which on June 5 will be on the Arena stage with a tribute to Morricone: but in a few days on this we will be able to more precise”.

And so here we are, the great live concerts start again and the first will be entrusted to Il Volo.

Certainly a pity that the concert cannot be held in Rome in the splendid square in front of St. Peter’s Square, but remember that that square has no limits for people and therefore it was impossible, during this persistence of the pandemic, to make the necessary checks and limitations of people.
In the Arena in Verona, the capacity has been significantly reduced. The Arena has numerous entrances, from which people, strictly controlled, will be able to access without problems, and the streets surrounding the Arena are very large spaces that allow the flow at the end of the concert.

I have read that even for orchestral players there will be different entrances from singers.
Certainly there will not be the physical contacts we are used to, and seeing the Arena with 5/6 thousand people will be disappointing. There will certainly not be the warm embrace of the audience, but we must be grateful that all this can be done.

Certainly the event, albeit in a large environment like the Arena, will be resized, compared to what was planned for Rome, but at least now we are sure that the concert will take place and there will also be the other two concerts in 2020 moved to 29 and August 30, 2021.
I am very excited, because Verona is practically very close to Brescia, where I live and therefore, even easier for me to reach.
Now we will have to understand how people will be able to book for the event.
And so I will keep you informed about the next news, and, as the Il Volo page published:  “Molto presto!” (Very soon) !

  1. Such good news, Daniela! Thank You for sharing it. The guys must be exhausted preparing and getting ready to perform in Verona, one of their favorite venues; and also very excited to know they will be on the road again performing for their faithful and loving followers.

    1. I really think they will be looking forward to starting, Mary Jane, it means having a little bit of normalcy again. Not seeing their beloved fanbase for a long time must be stressful.

  2. Thank you so much!! I hope it will be videod It will be magnificent! I have tickets for Taormina. I hope the will allow Americans to travel into Italy by then. I wonder how the ticket holders will be picked??? Thank you for the translation.

    1. I’m wondering the same things too. I believe that for Taormina there will be no problems, or at least I hope so, since it is more advanced in time, but unfortunately, with this virus, there is no longer any certainty!
If there is any news on admission procedures, I will let you know, Donna.

  3. Thank you so much Daniela for keeping us up to date on the happenings of our wonderful guys. St Peter’s would have been a wonderful back drop for their first concert, but to keep all attendees safe and sound is of primary importance. How lucky you are to be nearer Verona ,and I hope you will be lucky also in getting a ticket.

  4. Daniela, for those of us already holding tickets to the Verona concerts at full audience numbers, how will they reduce that number? Any word about Taormina? Thank you as always for your excellent messages! Yesterday I read about the Arena of Verona opening it’s season of
concerts. I was waiting for confirmation and here you are! ❤️

    1. Judy: The two concerts scheduled for Taormina and Verona in the fall will be held as planned. This is a special event not related to those concerts at all. I’ll also be in Verona and Taormina August and September. Hope this helps.

      1. Judith, I also very much hope that the August and September concerts will be maintained, but as long as there are no written confirmations, nothing is certain. Fingers crossed.

    2. Judy, unfortunately there are still no definitions on how the concerts in August and Taormina will be divided, still nothing is known.
I think it all depends on how the situation in Italy will evolve, but I think the reopening of the Arena is a good omen. Now we wait to know the rules to be able to participate in the concerts. If there are any news, I will notify you.

  5. Great news!!! I check my mail every day, even though I know it’s not possible to have news so often! It’s only a few hours since Susan’s latest news! And here’s a new one! and it’s beautiful! Never mind that there will be few spectators! The important thing is to start LIVE meetings and concerts. Daniela, I wish you health so that you can attend the concert in Verona and (how selfish I am 😉) to have new opportunities for empathy for us too!

    1. Yes Antonela, the important thing is to start again.
And the restart of LIVE has been entrusted to Il Volo.
I sincerely hope to be admitted to this tribute concert!

    1. Yes, Kay, and if I’m allowed into the show, I’ll give you a comment on the whole show, and I’ll tell you everything that’s going on, even what’s not going to be on TV.

  6. Wonderful news and hopefully lasting good news for the future. I worried that they might fade in the memories of many and even those of some fans. The exposure needs to keep going. May this lead to an infusion of concerts that go on for a very long time.

  7. Daniela
What great news for you! If I remember correctly you only live a one hour drive from Verona.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you get tickets.

  8. Thank you, Daniela, for the news. I am sure you already have tickets, if that is possible. Dena Pitchfork, Mercer Island, Washington U.S.A.

  9. Thank you, Daniela, for the news. I am sure by now you already have tickets, if that is possible. Dena Pitchfork, Mercer Island, U.S.A.

  10. This will be a safe, more containable concert. So happy
for you Daniela, and for all those planning to attend.

  11. Happy to hear about the new venue. I’m sure that will work much better. I read that it we ill be recorded for Italian and American tv. Maybe this will be for PBS?

  12. Wonderful news about live music starting up again! I hope you either have or can get tickets to the June concert. I now hope the scheduled concerts in Verona and Taormina will now be able to go forward. Color me hopeful and excited! Thanks as always for keeping us up to date on the latest news.
