TUTTI PER UNO: CANALE 5 PRIMA SERATA by Daniela

And here I am to offer you the first of the three television evenings of Canale 5 which broadcasts the three Il Volo concerts.
It was a lot of work for everyone, but it was worth it, three fantastic evenings designed for Italian television which will feature many beautiful songs by Italian singer-songwriters sung by our talented Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio.
Once again Il Volo demonstrated that it was able to offer different musical styles and guests with whom it duetted without problems.
In addition to the beautiful scenes projected on the screens, you will certainly notice the play of light created by the audience.
Upon entering the Arena, each spectator was given a beautiful luminous bracelet which then had to be returned at the end, a truly wonderful idea!!
I honestly understand that the program was more suitable for an Italian audience, but I will try to make you understand clearly what they wanted to demonstrate.
Naturally certain moments were edited for different evenings, but this was done to make everything more homogeneous and does not affect the final result.

The first TV evening begins with Claudio Baglioni (Italian singer) who enters the scene and sits at the piano, almost immediately he is joined by Ignazio who tells him that they should start by singing MILLE GIORNI DI ME DI TE (Baglioni’s song) and he performs it, then Gianluca arrives and says that it is better to start with AVRAI (Baglioni’s song) and performs it, and Piero arrives who instead wants to start by singing PICCOLO GRANDE AMORE (Baglioni’s song) and sings it, but in the end Baglioni says that he decides what with they will open the evening and he decides for STRADA FACENDO (Baglioni’s song) and all four sing it together.
Immediately afterwards Ignazio Piero and Gianluca greet the Arena audience and sing the beautiful CAPOLAVORO. 😍
This year Il Volo has decided to pay homage to Italian singer-songwriters by performing several of their songs and Ignazio begins with: TI SENTO song by Matia Bazar. 🥰
Gianluca immediately continues with the beautiful ROCKET MAN by Elton John. 🥰
And finally, Piero sings the MISERERE which this year he did in duet with Giorgia, a very good Italian singer.
At the end of the song, Piero says: “Giorgia, we just sang a song by Zucchero and Zucchero sang it with Pavarotti. Then Pavarotti with Bocelli, you sang with Bocelli and now I sing with you, all this to thank and pay homage to the man who acted as a glue to all these names, our manager Michele Torpedine.” (Torpedine is framed, Ernie is also seen behind him).
GIORGIA= Mythical Michele.
Then Giorgia thanks Piero for the beautiful evening, but Ignazio tells her that there are also him and Gianluca, 😂😂 then the guys will convince Giorgia to stay and so she will also act as co-host during the evening. 🥰

Il Volo sings SE TELEFONANDO.
Now it’s time for a duet, Gianluca presents the song IL CIELO IN UNA STANZA, a beautiful song by Gino Paoli that Gianluca will sing together with Alessandra Amoroso.  Beautiful duet. 😍😍
Alessandra also celebrates 15 years of career and therefore, all together sing a song by Alessandra Amoroso: STUPENDO FINO QUI.
This is followed by a duet by Piero who tells how this song was born, from a news that a circus was in difficulty because the cannon woman had left. The author combined music with this news and the song was born. The author is Francesco De Gregori who enters and sings a duet with Piero. This song has never been performed with the classical imprint that Piero gives it and it is very beautiful, LA DONNA CANNONE. (this duet was done the night I was at the concert) 🥰
Piero finally admits that he was moved. ❤️
Ignazio calls Giorgia, and instead…. Giorgio Panariello (Italian comedian) enters.
In the gag, Giorgio apologizes and Giorgia is called back. She comes in and says she thought she’ll ask questions “on the fly” and they’ll have to answer quickly.
GIORGIA= What do you sing in the shower?
G= COME SAPREI (song by Giorgia)
GIORGIA= Liar!
I= (I don’t understand)
P= CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU
Ignazio makes fun of Piero by thinking of him singing that song in the shower. 😂😂
GIORGIA= What is the song that is never missing from your playlist.
G= CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE. 😍
GIORGIA= How romantic!
I= YOU AND I by Stevie Wonder
P= MY WAY, every morning I brush my teeth with Frank Sinatra
GIORGIA= If you had to choose a solo stage name, what would you choose?
G= Ignazio Boschetto 😂
I= Cucu Ramaya (song) 😂
P= Giorgio 😂
GIORGIA= Which historical group would you have liked to be part of?
G=Beatles
I= Bon Jovi
P= The Poohs
GIORGIA= The song that gives you energy.
G= THE SHOW MUST GO ON by Queen.
I= I FEEL GOOD
P= FIESTA, by Carrà
GIORGIA= The song you would dedicate to your son or daughter.
G= AVRAI (he sang it at the beginning) Or A TE by Jovannotti.
I= I don’t know because I will write it when I have a baby. ❤️❤️
P= CAPOLAVORO
GIORGIA= Last question: Which one of you will sing the next song? I’m telling you, Ignazio, the stage is yours!
Ignazio will perform a rock song, so he changes his jacket.
In the presentation he explains that this singer-songwriter’s father broke his guitar because he wanted him to study, but then he showed him that music was his life, Ignazio talks about Lucio Battisti, a very famous singer-songwriter in Italy. The song is:  IL TEMPO DI MORIRE and Ignazio uses a rock guitar!😉

Il Volo performs the always beautiful GRANDE AMORE. ❤️
Now there is a truly very touching duet between Gianluca and a much-loved singer-songwriter, Roberto Vecchioni.
Gianluca dedicates a letter to him written “from the bottom of his heart” and reads it as he enters. I translate it for you.
“Thank you professor (Vecchioni is a university teacher) for teaching us the art of the word that opens the doors of infinity.”
(Vecchioni enters and both are very moved).
You are here. (Gianluca repeats and continues)
You taught me to embrace pain, even if it hurts
and with kindness the chains of ignorance and intolerance can be broken, generating beauty.
You showed all of us that strength lies in fragility and the courage to be yourself and that love comes suddenly and you can’t control it. Happens.
The purity of a feeling that does not possess, but frees.
I hope that no end will put your love to sleep and that your message will continue to shout loudly for all those guys like me, like us.
And you’re right about my girlfriend, it’s my job and I promise to continue treating it with care. ❤️
(The last sentences from “I hope….” are sentences taken from Vecchioni’s songs)
A long hug.
VECCHIONI= Now let’s not sing anymore, you moved me!
GIANLUCA= I want to leave you the letter, it’s a memory of me.
VECCHIONI= I’ll put it in my room in a painting.
An evening like this is unforgettable and then with you saying these things, how nice!
GIANLUCA= Thanks, it’s thanks to you.
VECCHIONI = It is thanks to humanity in general that it manages to produce sensitive people like you. (cheers)
GIANLUCA= Shall we sing?
Together they perform Vecchioni’s song: CHIAMAMI ANCORA AMORE ❤️
At the end, long hugs and Gianluca can’t hold back his tears. (Gianluca has always said that when he was little his dad made him listen to the songs of this singer-songwriter, which is why he has such great respect for him)
GIANLUCA= I dreamed and I achieved my dreams also thanks to this moment which was one of the most exciting of my life. ❤️
VECCHIONI = For me too.
GIANLUCA= And I thank you.
VECCHIONI= Are you crying? You who conquered the world, are crying for me who have conquered only one country! You’re great. ❤️
GIANLUCA= You are great. Roberto Vecchioni!
VECCHIONI = Bye everyone.
Piero’s beautiful classic solo follows: AMOR, VIDA DE MI VIDA, sung in Spanish .
It’s Ignazio’s moment who offers a medley by another Italian singer-songwriter who I think you already know: Pino Daniele.
The medley includes:
RESTA CU’MME
I SAY I STO CCÀ
YES I KNOW MY WAY
in a mix of Italian and Neapolitan.
The always beautiful Tosca romance follows: NESSUN DORMA
At this point Giorgia is called back on stage and once again Giorgio didn’t understand that it wasn’t his moment…
GIORGIO= Good thing you called me because I fell asleep on the Nessun Dorma. 😂😂
The boys apologize to Giorgio and say that he didn’t understand that the ending of the name was A and not O. 😳😁😁
Giorgio says that perhaps the Arena has bad acoustics because the three of them sing well but speak badly and from behind you can’t understand A or O well so he recommends the kids to pronounce well or to send him a whatsapp!! 🤣🤣🤣
Giorgio goes out and Ignazio tells the boys that maybe it’s best for Giorgio to have his hearing checked. 😉😂😂
And now GiorgiA comes in and has prepared some nice questions for Il Volo.
This time Giorgia will ask personal questions, but they will have to answer as if they were another of the three. 😳😳🤪🤪

Ignazio becomes Piero
Piero becomes Gianluca
Gianluca becomes Ignazio

GIORGIA= What’s your name?
GIANLUCA= Ignazio
IGNAZIO= Piero
PIERO/GIAN= My name is Gianluca, hi…..wait I have to wink.
GIORGIA= Your favorite hobby.
PIERO/GIAN= Instagram 😂
GIAN/IGNA= Playstation.
Ignazio says it’s not true, but Gianluca protests by saying that he and Piero can say everything about him, so he can do it too. 😉
IGNA/PIERO= I’m doing the marathon so I run, I run.
GIORGIA= How do you like to dress?
PIERO/GIAN= Every day different from the next. 😁
IGNAZIO=….how much I liked being Gianluca at this moment….😁😁
GIAN/IGNA= Does he know what he’s doing? He spreads the glue, goes into the wardrobe and puts on whatever remains stuck to him. 🤣🤣
(Piero compliments him for the answer)
GIANLUCA= You’ve seen, I can be nice too!😉
GIORGIA= (To Ignazio) Do you want to say something?
IGNAZIO= Now I’ve redone the walk-in closet, I got all the same clothes so I’m dressed the same every day. 😂
GIORGIA= So how do you dress?
IGNA/PIERO= Terrible! 🤣
GIORGIA= Your relationship with social media.
PIERO/GIAN= I’m here every day😂
GIANLUCA= But at least I always stay in touch with our fans.🥰
PIERO= You must know that we have just returned from Japan, we visited Nara, I have been there, but I saw more things on his Instagram than with my own eyes.😂
GIAN/IGNA= Non-existent, Ignazio doesn’t have a telephone.
GIORGIA= This honors you, can I say it??
PIERO= But who are you telling? (Igna has the sign with the name Piero)😳😳😁
GIORGIA= I don’t know, I’m confused!! 🤪🤪
Last question: What relationship do you have with the hairdresser?
PIERO/GIAN= I’ll even take my personal one to Japan.😂😂
IGNA/PIERO= He (Piero) when he goes to cut his hair, in front of the mirror says:  “The thirty-second hair back here and the one hundred and twenty-seventh is longer.” 😂😂
GIAN/IGNA= Instead you (Ignazio) go with the lawnmower 🤣🤣
GIORGIA= Give me back the signs, guys, you were very nice.
From above in the royal box position, Giorgio Panariello in a serious moment reads beautiful words of Bertolt Brecht.
“Children play at war, it is rare for them to play at peace, because adults have always been at war.
You go PUM (shot) and laugh, the soldier shoots and another man doesn’t laugh anymore.
It’s war.
There is another game to invent: make the world smile, don’t make it cry.
Peace means that not everyone likes the same game, that your toys are also liked by other children who often don’t have them, because maybe you have too many of your own, that other children’s drawings are not messes, that your mother doesn’t it’s just all yours, that all children are your friends.
And peace is still: don’t be hungry, don’t be cold, don’t be afraid.”
❤️
Il Volo sings the beautiful SMILE. 🥰
Gianluca calls GiorgiO Panariello on stage, but GiorgiA arrives.
IGNAZIO= There must be a problem back there: GiorgiO 🤣
GIORGIA= Eh, wasn’t it me?
(Giorgio enters)
Hi GiorgiO
GIORGIO= Hi GiorgiA.
GIANLUCA= But we can’t do these figures though.
GIORGIO= I explained the acoustics problem to GiorgiA back there, but she doesn’t remember it. (to Giorgia) You have to take the drops of memory (Drops of memory is a song by Giorgia) 🤣🤣🤣 because they are useful to you in these moments here. Agree?
Now it’s my turn.
Then GiorgiA goes backstage.
A long funny historical comic monologue begins by Giorgio Panariello who explains the origins of the Arena. (I translate some passages of the monologue.)
GIORGIO= We are at the Verona Arena, we are immersed in history, you don’t know these things, I have studied, this amphitheater where you are sitting comfortably, it is a Roman amphitheater dating back to the first century AD, think about it, this structure was built even before the Colosseum.
PIERO= I’ve known you forever, but I didn’t think you were such a man of culture. How do you know all these things?
GIORGIO= It’s written on the teleprompter. 🤣🤣
It’s written there.
GIANLUCA= But you can’t reveal it like that.
GIORGIO= You can read too….it’s all written there.
IGNAZIO= But you certainly read it better!
GIORGIO= Because in Verona there is nothing older and better preserved, apart from Gianluca’s forelock, than the Verona Arena. This tuft (talking to Gianluca) dates back to the time of the Etruscans, they already had this tuft here. 😂
The Arena of Verona was built by the Romans right here in Verona, what a coincidence……(now he makes a list of Italian monuments)…..look at this Arena how well it has been preserved, the walls, the stands, the audience, look at how the audience was preserved, when the Romans arrived these people were already here, with umbrellas and raincoats when it rains, they built the Arena around them, I’ve already seen that gentleman there in a bas-relief preserved in the Vatican museums.🤣
People were already here when gladiators fought in the Arena and there were also chariots, have you ever seen chariots? (The speech takes on a mischievous tone and Piero and Ignazio laugh a lot.)
Then in the Middle Ages theatrical and lyrical and therefore musical shows began to be performed and this is why you are here, and with you there is also me, your Giorgio…….your GiorgiO!!!!
GiorgiA comes back after hearing her name called, but Giorgio tells her that it wasn’t her time and sends her away.
Giorgio says that he came to sing and together with Il Volo and the audience they perform a small singing gag. 😁😁😁
Gianluca presents one of the most loved songs in the world, precisely: IL MONDO.
Ignazio says that it has been many years since they sang this beautiful song that everyone knows: LEI (SHE).
Giorgia returns and now it’s Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca who want to ask her questions.
PIERO= Question number one. Which artist did you have a poster of in your room?
GIORGIA= Whitney Houston.
IGNAZIO= Which historical group would you have liked to be part of?
GIORGIA= Queen.
GIANLUCA= What lullaby did you sing to your baby?
GIORGIA= I sang Lullaby to Smelly Cat.
PIERO= Which piece of music are you most attached to?
GIORGIA= Soul of Pino Daniele.
IGNAZIO= The strangest place where you sang a song?
GIORGIA= A wardrobe.
GIANLUCA= The most absurd gift you’ve ever received from a fan?
GIORGIA= The toilet brush shaped like a microphone.
The questions are over and Giorgia thanks the guys for the experience of being with them, she also tells them that they are human, nice and cool people.
It’s Piero’s moment who says that it’s not Il Volo that brings Italian music around, but Italian music that brings Il Volo into the world.
Piero pays homage to Puccini and all the writers of Operas by saying that Operas are nothing more than life stories where usually two people get to know each other and then everyone dies. 😳😁
Piero performs from Tosca: RECONDITA ARMONIA
Gianluca follows with the solo: ALWAYS ON MY MIND in memory of great Elvis Presley.
Now another touching moment, Ignazio reads a letter dedicated to a woman killed by her man a year ago.
And where are you, a fragile soul, in which part of the universe do you find yourself.
Who knows if where you are the sun rises and then sets.
Who knows if grandmothers bake cakes and grandfathers tell fairy tales.
Who knows if people go to harvest and you can still run among the vines.
Who knows if the sea is always curled and the wind blows strong, or maybe everything is calm, calm and silent.

Who knows if there is someone there too who wants to tie up your freedom, because here you were not free to choose.
You were deprived of the beauty of life with an act of human smallness.
Alone I am no one to say enough to violence, but if we say it together we can make a difference.
Who knows if now, where you are, you will have found love.
Hi Marisa!
🙏
Ignazio sings ANIMA FRAGILE, a song written by the singer-songwriter Vasco Rossi.
Enter Gaetano Curreri, singer of Stadio, a boy band that Ignazio followed and imitated as a child.
At the end of the duet Ignazio thanks Gaetano Curreri and at the end he says that it was a great emotion to sing this song with him and now he feels happy.
And now Il Volo, reunited, sings GRANADA in three different styles.
A beautiful tribute to Morricone follows with the song SE, taken from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.
Now a beautiful duet by Ignazio with Mara Sattei singing CREEP by Radiohead.
We return to classical music with a solo by Piero who performs Rossini’s tarantella LA DANZA, a song already sung by Gianluca during Notte Magica.
A solo by Gianluca who sings a beautiful song by the singer-songwriter De Andrè: LA CANZONE DELL’AMORE.
This song is very sweet and Gianluca sings it with so much emotion.
When Piero and Ignazio return, Piero says: “Good boy”
and Ignazio says: “This is proof that when you sing from the heart you make a difference and so I was moved.” 😍😍😍
Giorgia returns, but this time to sing together with Il Volo, (in particular with Ignazio who often sings it), her song E POI.
Piero announces the final song of the concert, a song taken from their new album: AD ASTRA.
At the final bars of the beautiful song, a riot of confetti floods the people.
Thus ends a fantastic concert, a perfect and harmonious set of voices, sounds, colours.
Next week will be the concert I attended.
Needless to say, the television broadcast achieved maximum ratings.
Now I want to hear your opinions.
See you soon: Daniela

      In, and I’m happy to make you relive the concert by making you understand it better.

  2. Daniela, you captured the evening beautifully. I don’t speak Italian so most of the playfulness and dedications I did not understand but to watch and listen to each of them with their guests was a joy. And of course, their voices! Reading this posting from you about the evening brought together what I missed during the show. I didn’t understand why Gianluca was crying and now I do. A beautiful moment. Thank you for translating the written pages that Ignazio, Gianluca and Giorgio Panariello read. The words held such passion and power and your translation of the words help me appreciate even more, Il Volo, Il Volo fans, Italian writers and history. Ah, Italy 🇮🇹 ❤️. Thank you again, Daniela. You give so much and I am grateful!

    1. Dear Judith, I knew you would be happy to understand what was said in the concerts, because they are never banalities, there are many important and emotional messages and there is also a moment for laughter. Our guys really do a great job and tonight there will be the second concert, the one I also attended. It was nice to see you again even if it was too short.
      See you soon with my translations! 💖

  3. Thank you . So beautiful .I love them .
    Seen them in Antwerp about 15 years ago and also last oktober in Brussels .

    1. Daniela, gracias.

        Luz, you always get exactly the core of their performances, they are sweet, loving, deep, playful, they make us laugh, they make us cry and their voices enter our soul.

  4. Dear Daniela and Pat, this was amazing! It is such a gift to read your translations of the parts we can’t understand! I tried to get the concert on Italian TV but couldn’t because all instructions were in Italian so I watched bits and pieces on YOUTUBE! Not the same I’m saving that part the post for this evening to give it my full attention!! I’m very excited! I saw them all reading and you translated all of their readings so beautifully, these guys continually touch my heart with their love of life and people and their obvious desire to see peace in the world and among all peoples ….what a blessing they are. All I can say is thank you and God Bless the Ginobles, the Boschettos and the Barones for raising three beautiful men for all of us and for the world, you gave them all beautiful values!
    Daniella there were so many touching moments in this concert and you gave us a gift of understanding it all, thank you! Pat the photos and video are the best so thank you too!
    With gratitude and love, Carol💖💖💖🎼🎶🎤🎵🩷😘🤗🙏🏻☮️🕊️

    1. Carol, it’s true, there are many touching moments in this concert, but they certainly won’t be the last, there are still two concerts to translate.
      So you weren’t able to connect to Canale 5, so I’m even happier that the entire video on YouTube, made by IL VOLO EN CLASE, was able to make you see and hear all the beauty of the concert. 🥰

  5. Many thanks Daniela and Pat for your translation. I did manage to follow most of what was said as there were English subtitles on the YouTube video. However, there were some things I didn’t pick up properly, or the translation was a bit iffy.

    I do so love Giorgio Panariello, he has a beautiful expressive face. As for the poem, well that was out of this world.

    As for the concert itself, to be honest I didn’t think it was as good as those last year. Piero surpassed himself, as he always does, each year his vocals are getting more impressive. He also sang the sort of songs that I prefer, but that is another matter entirely.

    Is it my imagination, or were there a great many young fans in the audience? One thing is for sure, the press can go and annoy somebody else as what they know about music can be written on a very small postage stamp! I was going to use somewhat coarser words, but thought better of it. It wouldn’t do to lower myself to their sort of nonsense.

    Roz

    1. Roz, I’m so happy that you were able to follow the translation on the video and supplement when there were unclear things with what I had written.
      I can tell you that in the concert I was in there is a romance from Turandot NON PIANGERE LIU’ where Piero will amaze you, ‘there was a nice standing ovation.
      For the rest, I think you’re right, there were definitely more young people, but once again the press wasn’t honest, making incredibly false headlines, but we’re no longer surprised. 😕

  6. Dear Daniela, first -THANK YOU! I have a lot to say, but I dont trust my English too much 😀 Any way, I did an enormous job to make a way to Canale 5, didnt succeed and waited for all possible videos made by the visitors :-)) And I watched all possible videos on YT and Instagram, good, bad doesn’t matter. And I hoped a good sole upload the concerts on YT like Tutti Per Uno 2023, I’ve watched them more than twice each. So, the first night is here. No signs from the rest. About the language, thank you! Automatis subtitles doesnt work so good for me, too fast and not not correct. I studied french long time ago and some English after, enough to see that the translation is not good. And I grow up with a lot of Italian singers. So, your work for us is priceless! You have my heart forever 😀 And these concerts are just great events, love everything about everything :-)) Great Il Volo, just magical voices doesnt matter what they sing :-))) just have to sing! Blessing to you and many thanks again!

      Gerda, I’m happy to have given you the entire video of the concert and the translation so that you understood what was said.
      There will also be translations for the other concerts, stay on this site.

    2. Toni, I’m so happy to have been helpful to you with my translation and I’m happy that you enjoyed the concert. Tomorrow evening there will be the second concert which will also be followed by my translation, so don’t miss the second episode, stay with us.
      Thank you for your compliments. 🤗

  8. Daniela, Thank you for your the detailed concert description! I was able to read along as I watched the 14 May concert on YouTube. Your description was perfect and helped my very weak Italian follow along. The music choices were beautiful and passionately felt by the guys and I’m sure the audience. The set, the light show the guests were excellent and introduced me to many more Italian artists.
    I’m wondering what did Gianluca mean when he made the comment about his girlfriend when he sang with the professor? It’s probably none of my business, I’m just curious. Is he still with the young lady who appeared in the video where they went to a seashore I believe and spent a day there? She’s different from the one in the Detroit concert from American broadcast PBS. She was also in Grande Amore.
    I always have questions. Ignazio is singing with Georgia again, nearing the end of the show.

    1. He said that the maestro was right to say that his “girl” is his job, the music, and he will continue treat “her” with great love and care. It wasn’t about a particular young lady, but only a metaphor about his dedication and commitment to his passion

    2. Muriel, I read that Denisa answered you correctly, “his girlfriend is his job” and promises to treat her well.
      In short, Gianluca makes us understand that for now he doesn’t have a girlfriend.
      I’m glad you enjoyed the concert, of course our guys were at the top as always, but the lights and special effects, orchestra and choir also did a great job.

  9. Daniela and Pat a huge thank you for the translation. I watched the video of concert #1 and now understand the funny and emotional parts of the evening. I was in the audience for concerts 3 and 4 and loved every moment. They are so professional yet so personal. They are now great showmen and bring the audience into the music as if we are all at a big party. We had a fantastic evening with the greatest singers today. I look forward to future translations

    1. Janet, you know that I was very happy to hear that you were coming to Verona, I’m sorry that we didn’t meet, but believe me I followed everything you published.
      I’m happy to have helped you understand the concert and I’m sure you will be even happier when you understand the concerts you attended.
      From what you published I read that you really like Verona, Bologna and Milan and I am extremely happy about it. 😘

      1. My friend and I loved every minute in Italy and the highlight were the 2 concerts . The choir I sing with is planning a concert tour in parts of Italy next year. So I will be back!

      2. Just one more comment. It occurs to me that being at an Il Volo concert is like eating potato chips. You think you want just one. Then one is not enough and you need 3 then 5 and so on. They always leave you wanting more and you never get enough of these talented young men

      3. Very good Janet, how nice if you return to Italy with your choir.

        You made me laugh with the potato chips comparison, very well done! 😂😂

Gianluca sagte schon öfters “the show must go on”. Welche show meint er? Also ein bisschen davon.

      Dear Ursula, ask me the questions you want and I will try to answer you.
      You’re right, the duet between Gianluca and Roberto is fantastic. Yesterday in a television program Vecchioni spoke about his evening in the Arena with Il Volo and praised the skill but also the intelligence and culture of our boys and said words of reproach to certain foolish press who do not recognize their talent.
      As for the other questions you ask me, you should tell me in which video you saw them so I can document myself and report back to you, but one thing I can tell you for sure, between the three of them there is a lot of affection, in particular Gianluca adores Ignazio, when he and Piero makes fun of Gianluca, it’s part of their game, it’s not reality, they’ve admitted it several times.
      Unfortunately the voices of these fans are often harmful, because the press reads the comments and takes inspiration from them for the articles and so “Gianluca rejected by the other two, Il Volo separates”. So be careful, don’t listen to these things!!

      1. Vielen Dank Daniela.

        Ursula if you have only been following Il Volo for 6 months, you have a lot to discover about them and we are here to answer your doubts, but be careful of the many fake pages that pretend to be Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca and that ask you for friendship, be wary of them.
        If you have time, browse our articles backwards, you will have many answers to your questions.
        To learn Italian well you need to practice the language, so when you hear someone try to say even just a simple sentence, you will gain confidence.

  11. i enjoyed the concert through your eyes the smiles,the laughter ,the tears the joy.I will love to hear the songs and couldn’t believe my eyes when I read Creep-Radiohead.it’s like these marvellous 3 guys go through my 80 years of playlist .Thank you for this wonderful website that brings Il Volo to me.xxxxx

    1. Hazel, I’m glad you liked “Creep” and brought back great memories. In fact, Il Volo also brought back memories of many beautiful Italian songs that unfortunately are heard very little now and yet were much appreciated in the Arena!🥰

  12. Thank you both for the translations i am English so it was great to read what the boys said ,that looked an amazing concert with the different scenery behind them ,the always give it all in their concerts they must be worn out after coming back from Japan ,Piero excels in his singing of Opera ,Ignazio is a brilliant entertainer and i love to see them both have fun ,regards

    1. Pamela, I think that Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, despite not knowing each other, were born to be a trio, because they have three different voices but which blend very well and have three different roles and different tastes, but in this way they embrace many tastes in a transversal way . 😉

  13. Thank you so much for the updates. I’ve already watched the first concert and I certainly can’t wait for the others.. even the one that I attended, it’ll be another perspective, I’m sure.. but as always, I just can’t have enough of them
    Now I regret not having bought tickets for the Sunday concert as well, but.. we unfortunately😒 have to work .. and the trip from my country to Italy took a while too 😊

    1. Denisa, so you too have been to the Arena, it’s always a great experience, it’s a show within a show.
      Reviewing what you have witnessed is always a great pleasure and you also discover new things. Next one tomorrow night! 😍

  14. Stayed up till 2:00a.m. this morning watching the concert in full on you tube and luckily it has closed captioning so I could read what they were saying. I love when there is cc. JC’s reaction has cc on most of his videos. Looking forward to the next one. This concert was fantastic and all three guys were outstanding. So happy that you got to attend one of the concerts, wishing I was able to but not going to happen until they come here to the states.

    1. Beverley you stayed up “late hours” so we say. I myself returned at 02.00 on the evening of the Arena and the concert that I duplicated there lasted on TV until 01.00 and tomorrow evening there will be the second concert. I’m a little sleep deprived, but it was certainly worth it. 🥰

    1. Dearest Jill, thank you for the good wishes, you remembered!!
      In fact it is 30 x 2 + 6 😂😂
      But I only hear 30!!🤣🤣
      A big hug, take care.😍😘

      1. Daniela, I just got around to reading this…Happiest Birthday wishes to you belatedly! May your life be long and blessed with happiness all days! 🎂❤️🤗😘🥂🎉xoxo Carol

      2. Happy Birthday, Daniela!! Just 66??? You’re just a baby!
        Hope you stay around for many, many more. Hugs, Dol.

  15. Thank you for all your information. Great concert! Do you have the link to the other two concerts? Can’t find them on YouTube. Thanks again!

    1. Lucy, the other two concerts have not yet been released on TV. Tomorrow evening there will be the second and by the end of the week you will have the link and translation, the third will be broadcast on Tuesday 28th. 😉

      1. I found the second one yesterday, Carol! So much fun to watch both of them! 😊

  16. Daniela & Pat where do I begin!! – there is so much to take in visually as well as listening to Piero’s – Ignazio’s & Gianluca’s beautifully trained voices – reading your Editorial & then seeing the concert on YouTube was an absolute dream – Pat is always saying how impressed she is with your translations & I agree – you girls have so much passion for our Boys’ that is why you put so much work into your Editorials – when I watched the concert on YouTube – your words were there to back up this night of nights – I know these 3 concerts are mainly for the Italian audience – but these concerts are going to go to distant shores I’m sure – people from all nations are going to love these concerts – the Italians know how to do things with panache – I would like to pay tribute to Piero for having the style & class in singing to his mum the amazing piece of music written by the Italian composer Ennio Morricone -” Here’s To You” & then kissing her on the forehead!! – what a Son!! – the love & respect between a Mother & Son is heavenly – what a privilege to see this!! – Gianluca’s letter written to the University Professor Roberto Vecchioni touched the heart & of Giorgio giving everyone a free lesson in Italian Culture about the origins of Verona Arena being a Roman Amphitheatre was funny – another piece of music penned by Ennio ‘Nelle Tue Mani’ (Now We Are Free) projected so beautifully by our Boys brought tears to my eyes the whole concert was brilliantly executed – I am holding my breath for the next concert – much love to you Daniela for the translations & Pat too for all the pics – such a pleasure to read & see all your hard work – much love.

    1. You’re welcome, Jude! 😊 Everything you said in your comment about the guys I also agree with. I was emotional several times while watching the concert.

    2. Thank you Jude for your wonderful words. I fully agree with what you wrote and I really hope that these concerts will capture the hearts of as many people as possible in the world.
      They did a really great job, no wonder, they are Il Volo.🤩

  17. After reading this post, I’m so damned envious of all those of you who got to see this spectacle live, that I can’t stand myself! It really brings home the realization of what tremendous talents they are and how it all came together, to this extent, in just 15 years. Phenomenal!

    1. I feel the same way, Mark! When they come to the U.S. next year I WILL SEE THEM! If I have to be hauled in on a dolly! 😆🤣😄😂

    2. Mark, I understand you very well, that evening I attended, I felt privileged to witness such beauty, I was completely involved and sang along with them. Seeing all those bracelets shining in the night was amazing and the scenes, the voices, oh the voices…..magnificent. 🤩

  18. Hi Daniela,
    You are wonderful and I thank you for all the work you have done. Your translations are not simple translations of a concert or an article, you make the book a story, you make everything wonderful.
    I think that the most beautiful Il Volo concerts are the ones at the Arena in Verona. I’ve been to Germany and Luxembourg to the boys’ concerts, they’re beautiful, they sing wonderfully, but they don’t have the same charm as the ones in Verona. I hope that next year I can be in Verona at the Il Volo concert.

    1. Hi Ivona, thanks for the compliments and I must say that you are right, the best concerts are those in Verona, in particular if they are filmed for TV, because they go beyond the limits of the simple concert and become real events and also meeting places, everything creates a priceless atmosphere, from the place, the scenes, the lights, the orchestra, the choir, the songs, the people and the three of them: Il Volo, everything a guarantee 🤩🤩🤩

  19. Hello, Hello, Hello – better late than never – but I have just recently returned from my Italy holiday and haven’t been able to catch up before. I tried to post the below response to Daniella’s last article, but apparently that thread is no longer active debating, so I re-post here for the sake of good order.

    And yes I was there – on Saturday, May the 11th – with my hubby and had the great pleasure of meeting up with Daniela again and enjoying this magic concert with her – and some 15.000 other Il Volo fans. I can only totally agree with all Daniela has been writing and posting – it was a fantastic evening in many aspects. At the last postings you have been discussing the concert/s in details so there is not much I can add. Arena di Verona is an awesome venue that adds tremendously to the event. The stage set-up with all its lights, colors and special effects was grandiose and perfect for a huge modern TV production – albeit personally I can do without most of it as I prefer our guys in more simple settings in order to fully enjoy them rather than a spectacular light show – but what we experienced was elegant and in some situations magical hence not interfering in any way or stealing the attention. A full symphonic orchestra plus, plus and a 20 person choir added to the grandness of this concert leaving no corners cut. And the guys shined and were like little kids on their favorite playground. And looking good in their – individual – but all black tux-like outfits and normal hair dos they were a delight to watch and of course listen to.

    I was surprised to find truly many new songs never heard before (May 11th) – both together and soli – boy, have they ever been busy learning this new repertoire plus the songs with which they duetted with their guests! Unfortunately, concert programs are not available so I am actually not able to tell you what songs they were singing – and in fact neither the names of their guests! I trust, however, that Daniela will get that in place when this particular show is broadcasted by Canale 5, so she will probably be able to tell us in her next post. I did recognize I.e. Gianluca singing “Elinor Rigby” by Beatles – a rather untraditional Beatles song not the least as to the lyrics which are actually very sad. Near the end Ignazio sang a lovely salsa-samba like tune that I hope we will hear him sing many times in the future, as it was a glad and fresh tune to which one could hardly sit still. Once again Piero seemed to be the winner of the standing ovations presenting several operatic arias more of which we have heard before – but he just gets better and better.

    These Canale 5 specials feature a number of local Italian artists with whom our guys duets. This time I was prepared so it was all ok with me – but in all honesty being a foreigner and not understanding a word of Italian – it is the least interesting part of the show and at times a bit boring… Apart from Irama and a tall man with a hat, who were both participating last year, none of the other artists were known to me or rang a bell. Apparently they were, however, very popular with the Italian audience who sang happily along and seemed to enjoy these performances very much too. But, of course, it is always interesting to hear and experience our guys in new situations as well.

    One can only be in awe of these Arena di Verona concerts – they are spectacular in all aspects and touches all of your senses. It is a very emotional experience – not just for the audience – apparently also for the participants. As it had been mentioned in more conversations Gianluca seemed to be very touched and couldn’t hold back his feelings. I can confirm this as it happened just in front of my eyes – in the middle of “Capolavoro”. He came happily to the left stage extension singing urging the audience to sing along. Suddenly he stood totally still, bowed a bit towards the audience and then closed his eyes while tears ran down his cheeks. I was totally confused – what happens? – but later I realized that he must have been suddenly emotionally overwhelmed noticing some 15.000 people singing along and sending love to the stage to him and his colleagues in this awesome setting. Luckily it was a very short incident and few seconds later he was jumping happily and smiling up and down “conducting” the audience. But watching him lick up the salty tears and seeing his wet cheek in the spotlight hit me strongly and went straight to my heart. I wish I could have rushed to the stage and hugged him. I believe, however, it was happy tears. But it made it very clear to me that I was not watching 3 robots or AI-constructed figuredsbut rather 3 very human persons of flesh and blood and not the least with genuine feelings.

    Enough from me. I cannot wait to see and read the translations from this show in Daniela’s next story.
    Warmest regards – Kirsten 🇩🇰
