Notte Magica – Coming Soon to a Theatre Near you!

nottemagica headerYes, most of us have been seeing the links and promos for the Notte Magica movie, which combines the original Florence concert and part of the Los Angeles concert from this March.  They have updated the locations on their site and it includes many in the United States, as well as all over Europe and South America.

Ok, Ilvolovers!!  This is your chance to rule the night!  Find your favorite Il Volo t-shirt or scarf, and tote bag, and act like the crazy fans we are!  Get with all of your friends, and plan your party now!  I checked on a few of the shows and I think most are just one night, but tickets are fairly inexpensive, ranging from about $10 – $20, depending on venue.  For some, it’s coming up pretty quickly, like in the Detroit area, it’s in June!  Others have to wait for later in the year, like in Arizona, it’s not until December!  But click on the link below to find out when it’s coming to your neighborhood.  Unfortunately, it’s not going to be shown in all of the States, at least not at this time, but they may be adding more as time goes on.  Showtimes are roughly between 7p and 7:30p, so plenty of time to get together and have a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant.  If you work a day job, maybe you can get off a little early that day?  🙂

I’m pretty sure the Detroit Il Volo Girls will be attending the June showing, which is, June 21!  First day of summer, longest day of the year?  What better way to spend it than with the guys?!  Ok, virtually anyway!  So, calling all Detroit area fans – this is an open invitation to gather and recreate our Notte Magica from the Fox!  It will be at the Maple Theatre in Bloomfield, MI.  See you all there!

After clicking on the link, scroll down a bit to see the map, then underneath, they list all of the countries it will be shown in.

So, enjoy!  Let this be your Notte Magica, if you missed them live in concert!  If it’s not in your city, why not book a flight and visit a city you’ve never seen before!  Or take a train, or “road trip!”  Any way you get there, it will be a special time, with special friends, for an unforgettable evening.  You can bet on it!

Ciao!  Happy Sunday!

Personally Speaking ~ Dream On And Dream BIG ~

Here’s how to get a FREE CASTLE in Italy, your Majesty!

https-blueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.comuploadscardimage478400c06ba477-9523-4419-baa1-c622e09fc086

Want a free castle in Italy? Sure, take one, your highness. But, as with everything good, there’s a catch.

As part of an initiative called the Strategic Tourist Plan, Italy is giving away 103 historic buildings — villas, inns, houses, towers, etc. to entrepreneurs willing to take them. (Yes, that means it could be you!)

All the recipient must do is pledge to renovate the buildings, which are mainly in more remote areas of the country, in a way that will diversify Italy’s tourism industry. This means transforming them into hotels, restaurants, visitor centers, spas, shops — anything that will attract tourist traffic.

This will ideally help ease crowding in popular Italian tourist hubs like Venice and Milan, instead drawing crowds to chill, lesser-known spots along cycling paths, hiking trails, or religious walking routes.

Does the work seem worth it? You’ll need to submit a proposal to the State Property Agency by June 26. So, if you’ve dreamed for years of turning a beautiful castle into a go-kart track, now’s your chance!

We always knew you were royalty. :’)

Writing up my proposal.  I will have a new address soon for a lovely B&B, I’m sure.  I will make the croissants and Marie will make the blood orange juice!    I’ll be sure and look for a place big enough to fit ALL of the FLIGHT CREW in…and of course the guys when they are in town!

Notte Magica – Personal Review – The Wilsons! Roma – May 12, 2017

This is a lovely review sent in by Victoria Wilson.  Her and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by going to Italy to see Il Volo.  They had many obstacles in their way, but they did not let anything stop them!

nottemagica headerDear Flight Crew,

This trip was like watching a cute movie following an older couple completing their dream trip to celebrate a special Anniversary.  We still cannot believe we did it.  And to make it even more special, we got Meet and Greet tickets.

Taking a wheelchair, service dog, and a woman in a lot of pain to Italy for the first time became a full time job…. outdated passports, getting medical records for my service dog, finding flights and hotels that would accommodate us…..It was all a great adventure.

Our flight from Minneapolis had an hour layover in Amsterdam and I got really worried with my wheelchair and getting us through immigration to change planes to KLM.  I didn’t think it could be done and got scared.  KLM wasn’t much help so I emailed the CEO of Delta.  His assistant arranged everything for us.  Delta Airline was wonderful, upgraded us to first class, and had an aid meet us at the plane to take us through immigration to our KLM flight.  Delta was equally as wonderful on the way home meeting us with a aid to shuffle through the crowds.  They promised us a wonderful trip. It was amazing and they wanted us to have a wonderful 50th Wedding Anniversary.  I hung up the phone, thanked God, and cried for joy.  All my worries faded away.

I’ve never had a trip like this in my life.  We’re in love with Italy.  We saw everything in Florence, then Venice, and WOW, Rome.  We ate our way around the country with the most delicious food and fell in love with gelato.  When they meet us in heaven an Italian will hand us a gelato.

I paced myself for the concert May 12.  We wore laminated ‘Flight Crew’ badges on a silver cord around our neck hoping we would meet other Flight Crew lovers.  We met a lot of Americans so I gave our badges to people who will be joining the Flight Crew group.  They too saw Il Volo in America and followed them to Italy.

We were at the concert and looking up at that wonderful chandelier.  My God we actually did it!  We pinched each other to make sure this wasn’t a dream.

WE WERE TOLD……NO FILMING AND NO FLASH PICTURES and again the concert was sold out.  We taped the concert and I filmed what I could from the big screen and stage.

THE CONCERT WAS SIMPLY AMAZING!!  They behave like brothers.  They were funny and charming.  Their voices are so pure and full that it’s impossible to believe they’re still boys… (To people celebrating 50 years of marriage they are still boys).  I cried and laughed.  It was over too fast.  How can they do this every night, sound so fresh, and be so charming to their fans? Gianluca tool selfies of himself singing with some fan’s camera and then would give it back.  What treasures for that fan.

The boys were delightful at the Meet and Greet.  Ignazio came right over to pet Phoebe and told us Piero was allergic to dogs.  I explained Phoebe was hypoallergenic as I too had been allergic to dogs.  He told me what to say in Italian explaining that Phoebe was hypoallergenic so Piero need not worry.
The photographer took several pictures and when Gianluca saw Phoebe in the picture he ran back so he could definitely be in that picture too.  I wish we could get all the pictures they took of us.   I’m trying,

These boys are everything I expected…. unspoiled, love people, and were darling to everyone.

We thought the evening was over.  However, no taxi would come and get us so late at night.  The Concert Hall people tried for an hour to get us a taxi. It was after midnight.  Finally they said they found a taxi and told us to go down the road and a taxi was on the way.

Ahahahahahaha….. We were in the pitch black in the middle of no where with a special collar for Phoebe with red lights flashing.

We saw all the Il Volo cars pass us by.  I told God I needed a car or we would be sleeping on that road overnight.  Within 10 seconds, we saw the headlights of an Il Volo staff car come up the road.  They had been sent back to pick us up and drive us to our hotel – another unbelievable miracle.

Fenia and another male staff member loaded my wheelchair, me, Jay, and Phoebe into their car.  Fenia is in charge of planning all the Italian concerts for Il Volo.  I was in a daze.  All the way to our hotel (40 minutes), we talked about the boys…the concert…. and the symphony.  Fenia asked so many questions.  I told her I can fake normal and could tell how much energy it takes to sing like those boys sing every night….. and then to appear fresh and full of energy for all their fans.  It takes a lot to give so much of themselves.  It only happens when you love what you do.  Fenia wanted to know if the concert was good and I think the energy is very draining to sing like that every night.  And their schedule is very full.

Fenia was sweet and kind.  She explained how we were seen on the road and they were told to make sure we were taken care of and to take us to our hotel.  It was after 1:00 am when we got to the hotel, the gates were locked, and Fenia took care of everything,

That ride was unbelievable.  Fenia said over and over again that she was going to tell the boys all about us and our story of why we came to Rome to see them.  She wanted the boys to know how much their voices erased pain for me.  They are such a gift and more than just enjoyment.

I couldn’t dream up a better adventure than the one we had.  We enjoyed everything….the bumpy cobblestones, the food, getting lost, visits to the hospital – I lost my meds.  Nothing could disturb the fun we were having.  My husband even dragged luggage over all the bridges in Venice for an old couple (well older than us) because they were limping and looked like a heart attack in the making.  He is now called ‘Santo Jay’.

We got home to Minneapolis.  Jay woke up early in the morning and wanted to know if we were still in Rome — I said YES — and he went right back to sleep.  Why spoil a great dream he was having.

Thank you for all your help.  Everyone has been wonderful on this site.  We couldn’t have done it without you.  I read your emails every day and we are still reviving from jet lag.

Please keep our daughter in your prayers as she came home for (we hope) a minor surgery Wednesday.  Life always has something for us to do that sure wasn’t on my list.

Blessings to everyone.

Here is a short video that Victoria took of the last song….

What a great photo of you and the guys!!

Notte Magica – Personal Review, our own Daniela P! Verona May 19, 2017

(I’d like to preface this post with our thoughts and prayers to those affected by the tragedy at the Ariana Grande concert.  May God keep Il Volo, their staff & management, and all friends, family, and fans safe in London.  I saw this morning, the London concert will go on.)nottemagica headerThis is Daniela’s beautiful review!  After I read it, I literally had tears streaming down my cheeks – no kidding.  Yep, blaming it all on menopause!  lol!  🙂  Molto bello!!  I did not change a word of it, as I loved the translation and how she speaks.

THE MUSIC JOINING

Finally, the long awaited day had arrived, on May 19th Verona Arena, I had booked the tickets just after NOTTE MAGICA of Florence and the months spent reading all your good comments about the concerts you’ve seen.

After so much waiting, RAIN, it is not possible, in Arena we will be open.

My husband and I also have passes for soundcheck, a novelty for us.

Brescia is also close to Verona, so we’ll be there early in the afternoon.

We arrive in Verona after a car racing , the sky is very dark and it rains strong.

We park near the Arena. No longer rains, what a relief.

We arrive at Arena gate 15 for the soundcheck, many people are in a row. Soon after the clouds, a beautiful sun appears to be more decisive.

I have a list with me where I wrote all the names of Flight Crew people who told me to be in the Arena the same night, I just want to meet them.

After a long wait they get in, we take a seat and immediately we see on the stage PIERO IGNAZIO and GIANLUCA are trying out Nessun Dorma, but there is another guy partly to them and he also has the microphone. I do not understand who he is, he is the same age of our boys, the music goes on and this guy performs the acute that Ignazio usually does, I think a fourth tenor ….. but I look at cameramen that run back and forth in particular they dwell on this guy and then I understand, they are shooting the scenes of the movie GRANDE AMORE that will be in the movies in February next year. So that guy is an actor.

Of course it is forbidden to photograph, but today this photo was published.

1-daniela p

These are the two actors who will recite in the movie, he is just the guy who pretended to sing alongside them, he was just dressed like this.

The soundcheck lasted for a while, the boys greeted us and left. We could not leave the Arena again, stayed two hours before the concert, meanwhile I could talk to people I was expecting to meet.

The two hours passed fast and the Arena had filled up and began to obscure. The concert was about to begin.

The orchestras enter, start the first solo music track, here they arrive …… a boast of applause welcomes them.

That is, a unique emotion, their voices are fantastic, the mastery they have acquired in recent months is remarkable. These guys enchant us, they know how to make us dream.

The songs run one at a time, each one shows his talents in the beautiful solos, but when the voices join is one beautiful song you can reach high peaks of singing pleasure.

They are also adorable tricksters that make us laugh and it seems impossible that after a while they are again serious professionals.

Everything goes perfectly and in a moment the two hours fly, we get to the last track, GRANDE AMORE.

The Arena is filled with thousands of lights, a fantastic show and all the people sang the words of this song. Wonderful and troublesome.

Everyone runs under the stage to be able to touch the hands of these formidable boys, a final salute. It’s all over.

Wonderful. We are all satisfied, we had our MAGIC NIGHT.

These are two of the videos I’ve taken.

Sue Hemshall and her husband, Graham, I could not take a photo, but I know that you did it, so I’ll post it to you.

I could meet nice and sunny people, as only the ILVOLOVERS know they are.

Thank you friends, I am honored to have met you.

This is one of the powers ILVOLO, building bridges of friendship.

I’m sorry not to have met Dorothy Vessey, Wendy Keigley, Maura of Siena, we hope there is opportunity in another concert.

I also had the opportunity to know Italian virtual friends with whom we feel now on a daily basis and who are a strong presence.

Patrizia Ciava (Trishadria) you all know about beautiful articles on IL VOLO.

Patrizia, let’s wait for your beautiful article on this concert.

I met Daniela Ci, who posted on Flight Crew’s facebook, even with her I did not have a photo, but she has two wonderful ones with our treasures.

And last but not least, I met the mythical grandmother Maura, who for us in Italy is the fan N.1. She has 10 grandchildren and considers Gianluca (her favorite), her eleven grandson.

She is 86 years old

The lights are gone, the concert is over, some sigh, but the certainty that my friends will continue.

Thank you so much for IL VOLO.

Daniela – that was so precious!  I loved it!  Great pictures!  Grazie mille for getting this out so quickly!

More to come, amici!  Tomorrow – The Wilson’s!  🙂

Ciao!

Notte Magica – Verona! May 19/20, 2017

nottemagica header

Ah, two more beautiful concerts, all just a memory again…you wait, and wait, and then POOF! it is over in a matter of a few moments.  Even for those of you who saw them twice in a row.  The first time it’s like a dream.  The second time, you still need to pinch yourself to make sure it is real, and then you still don’t think it is real.  Only pictures make you believe you were really there – whether pictures with friends, of the guys on stage, a few videos of your favorite songs, and the lucky ones with meet/greet photos!  And even, after all of that, you stumble away thinking, did that really happen???

The guys, once again, or should I say, twice again in a row, sold out 2 beautiful nights at the Arena di Verona!  And a very unique picture of the Arena di Verona from Leonora via Instagram….arena di verona - leonora Many attendees were betting against the rain that dampened the atmosphere before the soundcheck the first day, but never dampened their spirits.  Many, many beautiful photos came through over those two days from walks in the streets, chance meetings with the guys, to pictures of friends during the soundcheck, to the concert, and afterward!

I think Il Volo Music is trying something new, for the last few concerts, they have been LIVEstreaming a few songs via Instagram.  So, if you don’t have Instagram, or don’t follow them, I would highly recommend doing one or both!  It was a real treat for me at work on Friday, when about 3:30p or so, “buzz” went my phone and there it said a live video from Il Volo Music – it was their Ave Maria!

I also had a chance to see them live yesterday, May 20, during Il Volo Music livestream on Instagram.  They started with the Ave Maria, then filmed a few of the duets.  The last was Maria with Gian and Igna.  While trying to get Igna off the stage, Igna did a “wave” to the audience with both arms in the air, and was met with mighty whistles, yells, cheers, and clapping!  He did this 2 or 3 times more, up with his arms, each applause/reaction, louder than the last time.  (I tried to find the video feed of this, but could not – I asked Daniela to see if she could find that anyone got it.  It was so precious!)  He finally left the stage and then looked right into the phone of the video and said, “Ciao!” and left.  Then the video ended.

You Tube link sent from Daniela:

They also did this at the Livorno concert.

Credit to all owners of videos I grabbed from You Tube, and videos/pictures I swiped from FaceBook, I hope you do not mind!  🙂  Thank you to Daniela for sending a few videos along, as well!  Without further ado – here is Verona!

These two videos are nice uploads from Pamela from Il Volo Mojo FaceBook – a few highlights from each concert:

A few pictures from Dani Ci – sent to me while waiting for the concert to start and the opening!  I was with her in spirit, as I was at work!

This special treat is courtesy of Elena Vulcano (from their hotel) – a little breakfast music, by Igna…we don’t know what it is, but whatever those long and beautiful fingers play, is certainly music to my ears!

And we finish, with Grande Amore – the audience sing-a-long!  🙂

And can’t forget the smiling faces of those at the meet/greets!  Including the Fabulous “3” on May 20, along with our own Dani Ci on May 19th!  Dani – we are waiting for your review!  (Daniela’s bella review will be posted tomorrow!)
