A DREAM LONG 10 YEARS
There is a country on this earth which is called Vololandia: it is a country without walls, without borders, without limits of horizon, because it is everywhere, wherever there are women and men endowed with musical passion, sensitive to love, to beauty and harmony. This country is governed by three princes, all three very nice for the truth, but above all with an incomparable voice, a voice that makes the soul of those who listen to them fly above the clouds, up to the sky, a voice that it is more powerful than a bomb, because it does not destroy, but builds joy, love, and passion, as well as melancholy, emotion, tenderness …
When they were little more than children, the three princes, led by their mentor Michele, began to travel the world, from Canada to the United States, from Latin America to Australia and New Zealand, from Japan to Europe and their dear land, Italy. Just in Italy they debuted in 2009, participating in a talent of RAI, “TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE”, where for the first time they had enjoyed the joy of applause, their name known by the public, the pride of their image transmitted throughout the nation.
From there began their incredible adventure, a kind of dream that was difficult even to believe: they, the three kids from the Italian province, who conquered the world, an immediate success, thousands of copies of records sold, the celebrity, the their name that began to be known from one continent to another, and to bounce on all the media, including social media.
And in a vertiginous follow-up, a whole series of events that would have seemed unimaginable until a short time before, the participation in 2010, as unique Italians, to “We are the world for Haiti” with 85 internationally renowned artists; the trip the following year in Australia and New Zealand; in 2012 the invitation from a legend, Barbra Streisand, to participate in his tour “Back to Brooklyn”, and in December of the same year the performance of “We are Love” and “The World” in Oslo, before the Royals of Norway and Sweden, for the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union.
And in 2014 the Billboard victory for Latin Music, plus various Billboard and Grammy nominations, repeated gold and platinum records, collaborations with the most established names in music, Eros Ramazzotti, Placido Domingo, the Pooh, Laura Pausini, and the virtual duet with Elvis in “It’s Now or Never” in the posthumous album “If I Can Dream”. In December 2014 it was a particularly important event, not only because of the meaning it contained in itself, but because it marked a trend reversal for Il Volo with respect to the goals that until then had been set: from many foreign nations to Italy, to homeland, and right from its institutional heart, the Senate where they performed an unforgettable Christmas concert in the presence of the highest personalities of the State.
The rest is recent history, of the last three years, with the victory at Sanremo in 2015 and the song “Grande Amore” became a worldwide hit, with 138 million views on You tube; the “stolen victory” (stolen to them!) at the Eurovision in Vienna, where they are declared third, but in reality they are first in terms of public votes and where the prestigious “Marcel Bezancon” critics award is assigned to them by accredited journalists ; and then the appointments to UNICEF ambassadors, ambassadors of Abruzzo in the world, of Sicily in the world, of lyric for young people in the world (title given by the city of Verona).
But it is not over, a new leap in quality awaits them: 2016 sees the launch of the project “Notte Magica”, a tribute that the three young artists want to address, with admiration and respect, to the great tenors of the past Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras. The project starts from the beautiful S.Croce di Firenze, precisely with the collaboration and support of one of the three great, the maestro Domingo, and will then continue with tours all over the world, in the most prestigious theaters of the major American and European cities and even in Japan, with cheering crowds, and places all exhausted, more and more numerous.
Often the three young princes, which the long tradition has turned them into brothers rather than friends, gather in Bologna, in their recording studio that is the beating heart of Vololandia, the forge where they forge their work and the products that in 2019 they will donate to the millions of admirers on the anniversary of the beginning of their successful union in trio. They often abandon themselves to memories and then, in front of their eyes, the images of what they have lived in these 10 years, the theaters always overflowing, the enthusiastic crowds, the audience standing in the frequent standing ovations, the contact with many authoritative people, the laurels obtained, the love shown to them by people of all ages, all races and all continents.
And now? ten years later? do you stop, did you struggle enough? not even for a dream, now it starts again, for new adventures, for new beaches, for new productions: because three princes that are called Il Volo cannot be stopped, they know that their audience awaits them because they need their closeness and their music , that reassures, that comforts, that keeps company, that makes the smile bloom on the lips.

Today on many Facebook pages, the photographs of Ignazio have been published, in a children’s hospital, exactly at the pediatric ward of the S. Orsola Hospital in Bologna.
Every year Ignazio makes this visit to sick children.
He’s a boy with a heart of gold.

Often there is little information from Ignazio, and so one thinks that he is a boy that is sometimes a little grumpy. Then you see these gestures and you understand that he is a really special guy!
Really a special boy.
It is not the first time that Ignazio makes such a gesture, in fact remember that a year ago, in the same hospital, Ignazio donated a machine that serves children with diabetes.
A gift that he personally made to thank the hospital in Bologna that took care of, long ago, the mother of Ignazio, suffering from cancer.
The donation of the machinery took place at the end of January last year, during the inauguration of President Trump in the White House, the journalist asked Ignazio if he did not go to the event in the US because he had to deliver this machinery. Here’s what Ignazio answers.
I= I sincerely think that being here is very important, it is not “the usual thing” to sing for the President of America, but here it is really like being close to children. Then of the hospital S. Orsola I am fond, because my mother many years ago had a tumor and was treated here.
Now that I have grown up, thanks to my parents, I had a little luck. My thought was to help the hospital that helped my mother, so it’s an honor for me to stay here and contribute to this gesture.

Meanwhile, our boys who have just returned from Lebanon left for Slovenia.
An unpublished Christmas concert for an emotion lived alongside the Italian military engaged in a peace mission in Lebanon and witnessed, in an unprecedented ‘music movie’, which will feature the three boys of ‘Il Volo’.
‘Voci di Natale’ is a television experience that will tell stories, sounds, encounters, moments of everyday life and great classics of the international Christmas repertoire, the desire of the three young artists to bring music to the fore while living alongside those professionals peace that with their silent sacrifice honor the Country and its history every day.
Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, from the Unifil base of Tiro, in Lebanon, will be on Rai 1 on December 25th at 10.45pm. During the visit, the young singers have followed the main activities of the Italian contingent, telling in an exclusive document the curiosity of a mission that sees our armed forces for 40 consecutive years in Lebanon. During the special concert for the Italian blue helmets also a message of greetings from the Minister of Defense Elisabetta Trenta, who from the Italian base in Afghanistan thanks on behalf of the Government and wishes happy holidays to all our soldiers engaged in peace missions.

You all certainly know NOTTE STELLATA, the beautiful song on music by Saint-Saens, and that is part of the CD, BUON NATALE.
My dear friend, Maura Pucci, wrote her impressions on her first listening, I translate them for you, they are very beautiful.
I want to share with you the emotion I felt when I first heard NOTTE STELLATA (Starry Night). I immediately rushed to pour my feelings, my impressions, onto a piece of paper. I saved that sheet. I realize now, rereading it, that it is not a great example of good Italian style. It was my “outburst” and was not intended for the reading of others. I cover it as such, imperfect but genuine!
I look for IL VOLO on you tube and I come across a video screen with the same title: Notte Stellata. I do not know this song and I never heard of it. I try with the first video and, from the first notes, I immediately recognize the famous motif of Saint-Saëns. Evidently, I think, someone composed a text for this wonderful melody. I do not see the guys that are singing but only moving images.
Although disappointed, I still listen, already fascinated by the first notes of the orchestra. I listened to the song for the first time, then a second one wearing the headphones to catch every detail of the music and the voices of the boys. The musical arrangement, where strings and piano are the masters, is of an incredible sweetness.
It is a song of great lyricism, evoking dream landscapes (night, lake, stars, moon) whose text the “experts” of Sanremo would not hesitate to define trivial. It is narrated, the story of a love in progress: at the beginning love is hidden and therefore it is ignored. Then, love is declared …. This phase is without words, but it is understood from the context, because, in the end, there is the awareness of mutual love. The words of the text are not thrown at random. The author wanted to highlight the “before” and the “after”, with a studied exchange of contrasting terms: you do not know / now you know it; you in my thoughts / I in your thoughts.
The boys offer a masterly interpretation. Gianluca opens: “ Guarda che lago, che luna c’è, le stelle in cielo brillano per …………” and then, in a breath “…. noi!”.
Well, here I stopped breathing, I felt a dip in my heart and I exclaimed aloud, even being alone: “Mamma mia!”.
I wondered: that fabulous “noi”, is it really Gianluca? How could he pull out of his register, deep, virile, that line of voice soft and thin as a sigh?
Piero enters. Starting from low notes, unusual for him, but faced with skill, his voice unfolds upward, word by word, or rather syllable after syllable: “la mia serenata canterò per …” until it culminates in a clear, acute “te!”, powerful but sweet at the same time, so as not to disturb the idyllic tone of the songs.The voice of Piero arrives in fact gradually and with the utmost naturalness.
Ignazio continues that, pronouncing his words of love (and, knowing him I imagine it with his eyes closed ..) he manages to transfer his emotion to those who are listening. His voice is so rich in nuances that it allows him to transform his high and high-pitched tone into a very sweet confidential whisper: “quanto ti amo ora lo sai …”
Then their voices come together. First low, then in a “crescendo” shivering, alternating with Gianluca (which in the last stanza, fades to the utmost tone, still “sighing” the words of the happy ending “io ti amo sai, …. tu mi ami ..) and all together “già”, so quiet as to seem a single voice. And the orchestra follows them ending “very slowly”, musically speaking, the arrangement and the orchestra that accompanies, without ever overwhelming them, their voices In particular I have in mind the violin that follows “ti cercherò tra la gente” of Piero, and the ringing notes of the piano that accompany Ignazio’s second stanza.
I realize that almost all their other songs can be of greater impact on the general public. They are the ones that end up with the guys who sing together to their full potential, with the orchestra at full capacity, those with an overwhelming finale. NOTTE STELLATA is of another kind, an intimate, atmospheric song! I do not get tired of listening to it.

The gift to which the fans refer is a beautiful action that they organized during the song IL MONDO, everyone had to raise some colored papers that they found on their seats, at the end they composed the colors of the Italian flag.

At the beginning of the video you notice that Piero touches the bow tie, as if it were annoyed, maybe it has a discomfort in the throat, then just before starting his verses, he turns to the director and mentions a cough … begins his verses, but at the end of the first, he turns and looks towards Ignazio who immediately understands and continues singing, Piero’s sentence, all this under Gianluca’s tense gaze.
And in fact, during today’s trials in Bratislava, Ignazio wrote this post.

Apart from this small problem of annoyance, perhaps passed unnoticed, I would say that the audience was fantastic, very warm and the guys were very happy, so let’s enjoy some videos of the songs.
The vivacity of Ignazio is well known to all, impossible to hold it in the presence of instruments. Here it is during the rehearsals before the concert. Too strong!
What to say, it seems to me that these three concerts have gone very well, in particular I liked the harmony that exists between Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca and that once again has been reconfirmed.
